• Building the DropThings ASP.NET Solution

  Hi all, I'm attempting to build a project called DropThings but I am getting all these errors and I'm not sure how to resolve them. Can anyone lend a helping hand? • Adding delegate with calendar access using Exchange Web Services?

  I have a set up where I need to add a delegate to various user calendars programmatically. Using a sample from MDSN, I've gotten as far as trying to add the delegate, but after the call to the service binding, I get nothing back...no success or fail....nothing. • WIX: How can I register a new ISAPI Extension or Script Map on an existing Web App or Site?

  I've seen the WebApplicationExtension element, but because it must be a child of WebApplication, it appears to require the creation of a new WebApplication. I don't want that. I want to create the extension (or script map) on an existing website. On uninstall, the website should remain but the extension (script map entry) should be removed. Anyone know how to do this in WIX? If I get no good answers, I guess I will have to do it within script before InstallFinalize.

• PHP, Codeigniter: How to Set Date/Time based on users timezone/location globally in a web app?

  Hello all, I have just realised if I add a particular record to my MySQL database - it will have a date/time of the server and not the particular user and where they are located which means my search function by date is useless! As they will not be able to search by when they have added it in their timezone rather when it was added in the servers timezone. Is there a way in Codeigniter to globally set time and date specific to a users location (maybe using their IP) and every time I call date() or time() that users timezone is used. What I am actually asking for is probably how to make my application dependent on each users timezone? Maybe its better to store each users timezone in their profile and have a standard time (servers time) and then convert the time to for each user? Thanks all

  Use VS2010 silverlight business application template to createa defaut solution. Change authentication to Windows in Web.config and the code in app.xaml.cs to use windows authentication. Nothing else changed. Then run this app from vs2010 built-in web server, it is fine, I can see the login user info from windws(from a AD domain account) display on the top-right of the screen, like DomainName\userName. • Should my connected web parts support IWebPartField, IWebPartRow and IWebPartData?

  I've been writing some simple webparts, and they communicate via a custom interface type. That's working fine. I've got one ConnectionProvider, with a variety of ConnectionConsumers. I see that the OOTB SharePoint webparts provide many standard connections, apparently through IWebPartField and IWebPartRow (IWebPartData seems less supported). I've tried to add a IWebPartRow interface to a provider, and found that it's not actually useful (apparently), unless it's shareing data that the OOTB components use, such as images, urls and users. Well, that's the impression I got, anyway... I've only done a quick experiment, and found it quite difficult to implement and test. Is there any point in spending time trying to add support for the standard webpart interfaces?

Sometimes it occurs, sometimes it does not. I'm using NinjectHttpApplication for automatic controllers injection. • How do I code Citrix web sites to use a Secure Gateway (CSG)?

  I'm using Citrix's sample code as a base and trying to get it to generate ICA files that direct the client to use their Secure Gateway (CSG) provider. My configuration is that the ICA file's server address is replaced with a CSG ticket and traffic is forced to go to the CSG. The challenge is that both the Citrix App Server (that's providing the ICA session on 1494) and the CSG have to coordinate through a Secure Ticket Authority (STA). That means that my code needs to talk to the STA as it creates the ICA file because STA holds a ticket that the CSG needs embedded into the ICA file. Confusing? Sure! But it's much more secure. In the Windows XP world, there are packages available, like easyPHP, wampserver, uniformserver, that enable you to have a local webserver complete with php, mysql configured via an automatic installer. Really handy. I need the same on my new mac. I know mac os x comes with a local webserver. Is this already with php, mysql preinstalled? I'd like to have you guys advise on the easiest way to have this local lamp so that i can continue developing on this nice and shiny machine. thanks!

• Is there a way to make a Google Web Toolkit (GWT) Button look like a HTML Hyperlink?

  I plan on appending some comments onto a text, to do that, first, I need the concerned text to act like a button for me to launch a popup, which in turn shows the comment. For that to happen, I need to make that concerned text to act like a button in GWT, but due to some aesthetic reasons I don't want it to look like a normal GWT Button, instead, I prefer it to look like any normal HTML hyper-link, which upon clicking it, acts exactly like a GWT Button which in turn showing the comment in the pop up. So is there a way to make a GWT Button appear more like a html hyper-link? Or, at the minimum, would it be possible to convert the concerned text to .JPG for it to be inserted into a Image Button in GWT?

• Why can't I install MVC (1 or 2) with Visual Web Developer Express 2008 RC1?

  Hi all, I have installed VWD 2010 Express and love MVC2. I have an existing ASP.NET 3.5 website that I'd like to redevelop with ASP.NET MVC2 under VWD 2008 with the 3.5 framework (the host only supports .Net 3.5, and Express 2010 doesn't support targeting of .Net framework versions) I am however unable to install MVC2 with VWD 2008. The installer (for 2008 SP1) says it has installed, but the MVC project templates don't show up when I create a new project. I also had this problem originally with MVC1 which is why I gave up at some point and just created it as a normal ASP.NET website. I tried uninstalling and installing VWD 2008, and then installing MVC2, but this didn't solve the problem. Does anyone know why this problem occurs, or how to solve it? Or is there a way to add these templates and the tooling manually?

• making urllib request in Python from the client side

  Hi Guys, I've written a Python application that makes web requests using the urllib2 library after which it scrapes the data. I could deploy this as a web application which means all urllib2 requests go through my web-server. This leads to the danger of the server's IP being banned due to the high number of web requests for many users. The other option is to create an desktop application which I don't want to do. Is there any way I could deploy my application so that I can get my web-requests through the client side. One way was to use Jython to create an applet but I've read that Java applets can only make web-requests to the server it is deployed on and the only way to to circumvent this is to create a server side proxy which leads us back to the problem of the server's ip getting banned. This might sounds sound like and impossible situation and I'll probably end up creating a desktop application but I thought I'd ask if anyone knew of an alternate solution. Thanks.

I'm using Visual Web Developer 2008 at the moment, this is running on Localhost. I think I've exhausted all the "Try this..." options I can find, everything from adding in [ScriptMethod] to changing things in Web.Config. Is there anything obviously wrong with this code? Only other thing that may be having an effect is in Global.asax I do a Context.RewritePath to rewrite URLs - does this have any effect on AJAX? Thanks for any help you can give.

  I'd like to show in our app when the latest production deploy was made, as a means of showing an ongoing commitment to improvement, etc, etc. Off the top of my head I'm thinking of getting a last_updated_at from one of the files, but I'd like to hear other thoughts. • ASP.Net 2.0 Web application cannot find specified module.

  Recently my ASP.NET application quit working. It is local to my machine. It quit working after installing and uninstalling some third party developer tools. (I believe) I emptied out my directory and started adding modules until I narrowed it down to a managed C++ dll. When I load the dll into Dependency Walker it says that "c:\windows\winsxs\x86_microsoft.vc80.debugcrt_1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b_8.0.50727.762_x-ww_5490cd9f\MSVCM80D.DLL" loads fine, but "MSVCR80D.DLL" could not be found. However this dll exists in the same directory. The managed dll contains an embedded manifest and I am using Visual Studio 2005 service pack 1.
