• how to hook up default beforeunload event on an aspx page ?

  I have a custom web part placed on one of the application page in SharePoint. This page it seems already have a function which gets executed on windows beforeunload javascript event. My problem is that i too need to execute some client side code (to prompt user for any unsaved changes in my web part) on windows beforeunload event. How can i achieve this ? I mean let the default event be fired as well as call my function also ? Appreciate any help. Nikhil.

I want my program to send a packet to my game server if player have all my patches. I dont need any response from the server, it will handle it, but its another story. • Does an IFilter Exist for Indexing Source Code Files?

  Anybody know of an IFilter that can index source code files beyond what the "Plain Text" filter can provide, with possibly a custom "Property Set" specific to programming? For example, I have 835MB in 41,000 files and 8,200 folders in my "Code Library" folder. I would like to perform searches such as "select distinct attributes on properties" or "select class exceptions" or "select classes with nested private classes". Preferrably, the IFilter can distinguish between various languages, so I can perform a query like "select class exceptions in VB.NET" or "select 'resume next' in VBScript". Other Examples "select all enum from folder('microsoft source code') in namespace 'system.io'"

• NSIS Installer - Displaying different licences

  Heya, I'm trying to modify an existing NSIS install script to allow for different licence files to be presented to the user depending on whether they are a new or existing user. I have pre-existing code which detects an existing install in the .onInit section. However I'm running into bumps trying to use the NSIS provided licence screen e.g. !InsertMacro MUI_PAGE_LICENSE Content\Licence.rtf I would like to be able to choose between Licence and Licence2.rtf (though they'll be renamed something representative in the final version). I've tried using selectable sections calling functions which nest the !insertmacro but that doesn't work because it needs to be in the base level of the script. I can't change the parameter to be runtime definable because it needs to know what the file is at compile time to build it into the installer. I know I can roll my own custom page called from a function and do it that way but I was wondering if anyone had got the NSIS installer working with using the MUI_PAGE_LICENSE and different licences. • Creating a dynamic (video) Overlay on Google Maps on Android 2.1

  I'm trying to create a map overlay for displaying a video stream (MJPEG) on top of a Mapview. Currently I've a standalone activity that creates a data thread for fetching MJPEG video frames. I'm using a handler to send a frame (as a Bitmap) from the data thread to the main activity which then updates the UI. I'm not sure how I can implement "refresh" for updating my "overlayed" video stream. EDIT: What I mean by "refresh" is - how can I update the video portion (not the mapview) of my UI whenever I get a new video frame. I plan to paint the video frame (bitmap) in the "draw method" of my implementation of the Overlay subclass. But the "draw" method is not invoked by me directly. Thanks.

  I have a central dispatcher servlet that has a servlet mapping of : <servlet-mapping> <servlet-name>dispatcher</servlet-name> <url-pattern>/</url-pattern> </servlet-mapping> When i try to use the blob store service's createUploadUrl("/uploadComplete") it maps to a URL for e.g *'/_ah/upload/agp0d2VldG15cGljchsLEhVfX0Jsb2JVcGxvYWRTZXNzaW9uX18YEgw'*. Before the Blob store service can handle the upload and redirect to /uploadComplete; my dispatcher servlet gets called and i am therefore not being able to upload anything. Is there a servlet/ filter that i can map to /_ah/upload/* in my web.xml ? How do i avoid the dispatcher servlet from getting called before the Blob store service can do its thing?

• Alternate datasource for django model?

  I'm trying to seamlessly integrate some legacy data into a django application. I would like to know if it's possible to use an alternate datasource for a django model. For example, can I contact a server to populate a list of a model? The server would not be SQL based at all. Instead it uses some proprietary tcp based protocol. Copying the data is not an option, as the legacy application will continue to be used for some time. Would a custom manager allow me to do this? This model should behave just like any other django model. It should even pluggable to the admin interface. What do you think? Thanks, Pete

  Hello everyone, I am using VSTS 2008 + .Net 3.5 + C#. And I developed a custom Forms authentication module for IIS 7.0 and I attach to w3wp.exe to debug this module. During the attach process (I just select Tools - Attach to Process, no further operation performed on the computer I am debugging -- I just wait for the attach to be completed), I met with the following error, any ideas what is wrong? The web server process that was being debugged has been terminated by Internet Information Services (IIS). This can be avoided by configuring Application Pool ping settings in IIS. • Calculation route length

  Hi, I have a map with about 80 annotations. I would like to do 3 things. 1) From my current location, I would like to know the actual route distance to that position. Not the linear distance. 2) I want to be able to show a list of all the annotations, but for every annotation (having lon/lat) I would like to know the actual route distance from my position to that position. 3) I would like to know the closest annotation to my possition using route distance. Not linear distance. I think the answer to all these three points will be the same. But please keep in mind that I don't want to create a route, I just want to know the distance to the annotation. • Deploying site pages in SharePoint

  Hi, I have around 9 web parts and 3 pages to be deployed. Each page will be having 3 webparts. From a deploymnet perspective, i think i have the following two options: Deploy the pages using a feature. The pages will have webparts present. Create a custom site definition with a document library and have the three pages as part of the document library. Can you please let me know which one of the options is better or is there any better solution?. Please note that the solution needs to work on WSS 3.0 as well.

• ASP.NET MVC Authentication Cookie Not Being Retrieved

  I am having a hard time implementing "Remember Me" functionality in an MVC application with a custom principal. I have boiled it down to ASP.NET not retrieving the authentication cookie for me. I have included a snaphot below from Google Chrome. Shows the results of Request.Cookies that is set within the controller action and placed in ViewData for the view to read. Notice that it is missing the .ASPXAUTH cookie Shows the results from the Chrome developer tools. You can see that .ASPXAUTH is included here. Does anyone know what the issue may be here? Why does ASP.NET not read this value from the cookie collection?

• Using key().id() on GAE Datastore and reverse geocoding

  I have 6000 data of district, subdistrict. I need to represent this on dependent dropdown. The datamodel is for example; class Location(db.Model): location_name = db.StringProperty() location_parent = db.IntegerProperty() location_parent is reference to key() or id()? Still cannot decide which one is good. When i use key() as reference then using JSON to create jquery dependent drop down. My page loading/query and rendering time the dropdown is quite slow? Can i use key().id() as drop down option value to lighten up the page load? Any better solution for this parent/child reference for the drop down? For example: for the district record/entities the location-parent is null, for sub district record location_name will contain reference to parent district record. Other issue is to reverse geocoding the location to store or display geoPoint (lat,long)? Is google MAP API always find the exact lat,long of specific region boundaries or any error checking for the result?

• Lucene search taking TOOO long.

  I;m using Lucene.net (2.9.2.2) on a (currently) 70Gig index.. I can do a fairly complicated search and get all the document IDs back in 1 ~ 2 seconds.. But to actually load up all the hits (about 700 thousand in my test queries) takes 5+ minutes. We aren't using lucene for UI, this is a datastore between processes where we have hundreds of millions of pre-cached data elements, and the part I am working on exports a few specific fields from each found document. (ergo, pagination doesn't make since as this is an export between processes). My question is what is the best way to get all of the documents in a search result? currently I am using a custom collector that does a get on the document (with a MapFieldSelector) as its collecting.. I've also tried iterating through the list after the collector has finished.. but that was even worse. I'm open to ideas :-). Thanks in advance.

• PHP - Opening uploaded DOCX files with the correct MIME TYPE

  I have users uploading DOCX files which I make available for download. The issues we have been experiencing is the unknown mime types of DOCX files which causes IE to open these docs as Zip files. It is running on a Windows/IIS server. Because this is a shared host, I cannot change any server settings. I was thinking that I could just write some code that would handle DOCX files, perhaps custom output: if (extension=docx) { header("Content-Disposition: attachment; etc) header('Content-Type: application/application/vnd.openxmlformats-officedocument.wordprocessingml.document'); Output the file contents etc } Would this be a viable solution?? If so, can someone help fill in the gaps? (PS I know the above syntax is not correct, just a quick example)

  I'm having problems with external native DLL. I'm working on ASP.NET 1.1 web application and have this DLL which I load through DLLImport directives. This is how I map DLL functions: [DllImport("somedllname", CallingConvention=CallingConvention.StdCall)] public static extern int function1(string lpFileName,string lpOwnerPw,string lpUserPw); [DllImport("somedllname", CallingConvention=CallingConvention.StdCall)] public static extern int function2(int nHandle); I call the dll methods and all works great, but I have problems with this DLL crashing my web site on some cases, so I would like an option to unload the dll after I use it. • Generic Text Only printer driver mangles control codes

  If an escape character (or most other characters < 0x20) is sent to the generic / text only printer it gets printed as a period. Using the code in the WinDDK is it possible to 'correct' this behaviour so that it passes it through unmodified? The general scenario for this is that some application ('user app') outputs a document to a windows printer. My application requires this data in plain text form and so what I do is run a generic / text only printer that talks to a virtual com port. This generally works fine except where the 'user app' outputs binary data to the print queue without using the correct mechanism (which seems to work fine on some printer drivers, such as the Epson POS ones, but not the generic / text only one). I've tried changing the print processor selection without success and also tried looking at the gtt files to see if I could readily map in these characters as though they were printable, but the minidriver tool won't let me do that. Any suggestions?

• Is the Silverstripe CMS as easy to deploy, maintain, and develop on as it appears?

  Although I haven't thought about deploying it on my own site, someone I know sent me a link to a CMS called SilverStripe that I've never heard of before. I read their site, looked at and played around with their demo, and so on. It looks like it's a CMS backed by a custom PHP framework that they call Sapphire. And from what I can gather on their website and using their demo, it potentially might be as good and easy as they say (once you get past any learning curve, which appears to be small, considering it looks a lot like other PHP frameworks and CMSes). Has anyone here ever deployed, maintained, or developed a CMS using SilverStripe? If so, could you shed some light on it, from a developer's point-of-view? I also found this earlier question about SilverStripe here on StackOverflow, but I'm more interested from a development point of view than a user or administrator point of view.

  I have a GridView, inside a UserControl, inside an UpdatePanel on a page. There's a button in the GridView which needs to fire a postback. What happens is: User clicks button - RowCommand Fires - Custom event is raised on UserControl - Page detects this and changes the active view index for a multiview and also the page title and some other controls outside the UpdatePanel. The problem is, the page posts back asyncchronously, the page title changes, but the actions requireing a full postback don't happen because a full postback doesn't occur. To register the button as a postback trigger I'm using: ImageButton btnResults = e.Row.FindControl("btnResults") as ImageButton; ScriptManager scrCurrent = ScriptManager.GetCurrent(this.Page); if (btnResults != null && scrCurrent != null) { scrCurrent.RegisterPostBackControl(btnResults); } I know this is a bit of a complicated problem, but I'd really appreciate any help.

• Which full-text search package should I use for SQLite3?

  SQLite3 appears to come with three different full-text search engines, called FTS1, FTS2, and FTS3. The documentation available on the website mentions that FTS1 is stable, FTS2 is in development, and that you should use FTS2. Examples I find online use FTS3, which is in CVS, and not documented versus FTS2. None of the full-text search engines come with the amalgamated source, as near as I can tell. So, my question: which of these three engines, if any, should I use for full-text indexing in SQLite? Or should I simply use a third-party tool like Sphinx, or a custom solution in Lucene, instead?

What do I need to do to make the operator behave with both equality and assignment operations?

• Managing web.config for teams in VS2010 & TFS

  With VS2010's mandate that web.config be included in the project, how do we allow everyone to keep their own custom config file without getting into source control problems? Previously, we would simply leave web.config out of our project, allowing everyone to keep their own local version of web.config on their machine. We moved to VS2010, and it is now forcing me to add web.config to my project in order to run debug mode. Because our project is linked to TFS, it automatically adds web.config to source control and tries to maintain it that way. Is there a way to run in debug mode without including web.config in your project? Or is there a better way to manage config files?
