  I am learning vb.net, wpf and xaml with the help of sites like this one. The project I am currently working on is a 4 x 4 slide puzzle. I cannot get the buttons in the grid to scramble to start a new game when calling a new game event. Any help will be greatly appreciated. If no answer is can be provide, a good resource to research would help as well. Thank you for your time. • Raphael js library: problems with animateAlong in IE7

  Hi there, I'm having trouble making a simple shape move along a path in IE7 (the only version of IE I tried, actually). The following code works fine in chrome and firefox, but not IE. I couldn't find an obvious reason, has anybody seen something similar? canvas.path(rPath.path).attr("stroke", "blue"); var circle = canvas.circle(rPath.startX, rPath.startY, 5); circle.animateAlong(rPath.path, 3000, true); My rPath variable has the path and the starting point coordinates. Microsoft script debugger points to this line as the one where the code breaks: os.left != (t = x - left + "px") && (os.left = t); (line 2131 inside the uncompressed raphael.js script file, inside Element[proto].setBox = function (params, cx, cy) {...}) Any ideas? • SQL Server 2008 Express doesn't see my Visual Studio 2008 Team System's SP1

  Hi, I want to install SQL Server 2008 express. I have already Visual Studio 2008 Team System with SP1. VS in help about shows me: MVS version: 9.0.30729.1 SP .NET Framework version: 3.5 SP1 but installator of SQL Server shows me that Visual Studio doesn't have SP1. Anyway I tricked up him by change in win registry HKLM Software Microsoft DevDiv VS Servicing 9.0 IDE 1033 value from RTM on SP1 and instalation runs. But during instalation error was occured about SP1 again. SQL Server was installed without SQL Managment. When I try install it I have allways the same error about SP1. I was install SP1 couple times with success but it does nothing. I was instal SQL Server SP1 also but it does nothing. Reinstall of VS 2008 and SP1 does nothing. What can I do?   Is anyone using ClickOnce with VS2010? I’m getting the following on publish, when the solution builds fine ... Building WindowsFormsApplication1... Error: Cannot publish because a project failed to build. Have tried everything, new clean project (both windforms and WPF), new temporary key, disabled pre-requisites and played with every publish setting.   Using Visual Studio 2010 Ultimate I created a ASP.NET MVC 2.0 Web Application. Its about the new features for Web Application Deployment. I dont see an option to precompile Views. Also I dont see other options that where available in previous version of Web Deployment Project: ie if the web is compiled into a single assembly or into one assembly per page. I had the impression that Application Project Deployment is the scuccessor of Web Deployment Project.. maybe I am wrong about it. How should I precompile views now?

  Is there any microsoft or even non-official documentation for SOS for Silverlight. Other than a few web posts I have seen zero documentation for it on MSDN. Even official documentation for the CLR version of SOS seems hard to find, this ancient article mentions a sos.htm file that is included in the windows SDK but it doesn't appear to be there any more. Any pointers to debugging Silveright with SOS? • How do I free SQLServerCE's COM instance from the current running process?

  It's been a while since I touched COM so be nice ;) This is under WindowsCE 5.0 with SQLServerCE 2.0. After calling this to load SQLServerCE 2.0 : - IDBInitialize *pIDBInitialize = NULL; CoCreateInstance(CLSID_SQLSERVERCE_2_0, NULL, CLSCTX_INPROC_SERVER, IID_IDBInitialize, (void**)&pIDBInitialize); Module load occurs for SSCE20.dll which obviously loads the SQLServerCE engine into the process space. What I don't understand is if I do this immediately after :- pIDBInitialize->Release(); I don't see a dll module unload, so that SSCE20.dll (and friends) are still loaded into my process. Now I tried CoFreeUnusedLibraries() which I figure forces COM to purge any unused libraries, but it doesn't seem to do the trick. At runtime I want to be able to completely unload the SQLServerCE 2.0 dll from the process to streamline an upgrade to 3.5SP1. I suspect this has something to do with the shared dll model that Microsoft use under WindowsCE... but, I might be wrong :) Thanks in advance, David.

But it is not available on visual web developer 2008 express edition When I tried <asp:chart > it is not available... Do I have to do some procedure to get it active on web developer.   I want to use the SqlExpress2008 Bootstrapper for a new installation on Windows7, I do not want to use the default SQLEXPRESS Instance.   In Java, updating double and long variable may not be atomic, as double/long are being treated as two separate 32 bits variables. http://java.sun.com/docs/books/jls/second_edition/html/memory.doc.html#28733 In C++, if I am using 32 bit Intel Processor + Microsoft Visual C++ compiler, is updating double (8 byte) operation atomic? I cannot find much specification mention on this behavior. When I say "atomic variable", here is what I mean : Thread A trying to write 1 to variable x. Thread B trying to write 2 to variable x. We shall get value 1 or 2 out from variable x, but not an undefined value.

• ASP.Net MVC2 Client and Server Validation sharing the same code - is it possible?

  With the excellent XVal by Steve Sanderson, it is possible to tell the client side validation to post the value being validated to the server using jquery. A method on the server then uses the same server side code you use for your server side validation, and returns simply a true or false to determine if the field is valid. The advantage of this method is that you write your complex validation logic once in C# code and then put some JQuery plumbing in to tell your client page where to go to access your server validation. I have been reading some blogs on MVC2 but no one seems to mention this functionality. Is it possible to tell the Microsoft MVC validation javascript to call a url validate data? Or do you have to write your own client side validation routines. I should note that using the xVal method a custom validation to say if an email address is in use or not can be run from the client via a JQuery post which accesses the server side validation logic.

  Hello colleagues. I've created wcf service with transport security over HTTPS. Also I use UserName authentication as described at http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc949025.aspx, so I can use my Membership,RoleProvider. When I work with this service with ASP.NET all is OK var client = new RegistratorClient(); client.ClientCredentials.UserName.UserName = ConfigurationManager.AppSettings["registratorLogin"]; client.ClientCredentials.UserName.Password = ConfigurationManager.AppSettings["registratorPassword"]; But at my SilverLight appliation I can't do the same. When I try setup credntials and call wcf I get standard browser window with username and password. When I insert it SL application works well, but this message is so annoyed. I can't use clientCredentialType="Basic" at my SL config. What should I do for silence calling my WCF. Big thanks

• Associating Worksheets with their Names using OpenXML SDK 1.0

  I'm using version 1.0 of Microsoft's OpenXML SDK to do some basic parsing of .xlsx files. I can get and parse the worksheets, and I can get a list of worksheet names, but I cannot for the life of me figure out how to link up what name goes with what worksheet. I understand that an element like <sheet name="My Sheet" sheetId="1" r:id="rId1"/> in the workbook is linked up to a specific worksheet via the relationships defined in xl/_rels.xml, but I can't see where any of the relationship info is exposed in the API. I'm using C#, but any VB.NET examples would be just as helpful. I feel like this should be dead simple, but I can't figure it out. It also looks like it may be more straightforward in v2.0 of the SDK, but upgrading isn't an option at the moment.

A handful fails with the "Exception occured when calling into BIL connector for import from non master data source" message in the crawl log, though The ULS logs reveal the following information: Exception Profile Import: Exception occured when importing user: '[redacted]\[redacted]'. Microsoft.Office.Server.UserProfiles.PropertyInvalidValueException: Invalid Property Value: Could not find SID corresponding to input account name I have confirmed that the user has a sharepoint profile matching the username is a valid domain user exists in AD Can anyone help med troubleshoot this?

• What is the correct way to import and export out of Excel to SQL Server and back?

  Looking for the correct way and control to import and export of out of Microsoft Excel programmatically. I am willing to get a 3rd party control that supports this functionality, or I can create it myself, but looking to get this prioject done fast. The Datasource will be offline. Although when it is online for the upload/download if there is a control that would merge them, that would work also. But best is to remain offline, don't need the support headache. Security is also an issue. SSIS is not available on the shared database server. The website that hosts the asp.net application is not on the same machine as the sql server. Thank you.

  I'm self-hosting several services where I do this to register the service: host = new ServiceHost(typeof(MyService)); host.Open(); Behind the scenes, wcf instantiates my service via the default constructor. Is it possble to use the WCF Integration Facility of Castle Windsor to get WCF to call on Windsor to create the service when I am self-hosting? The example seems shows IIS hosted services where the 1st line of the MyService.svc file looks like: <%@ServiceHost language=c# Debug="true" Service="Microsoft.ServiceModel.Samples.CalculatorService" Factory=WindsorServiceHostFactory%> where presumably a factory is used by wcf to instantiate the service instance.

• Cannot add library in VC++ 2008: My System is Different

  Hopefully someone can tell me what's going on here. I'm trying to link to gdiplus.lib and I tried to go to "Properties - Linker - Input - Additional Dependencies" to add the library but I do NOT have that section. I'm using Visual C++ 2008. Here's what I see: Common Properties Framework and References Configuration Properties General Degugging C/C++ Librarian Resources XML Document Generator Browse Information Build Events Custom Build Step I've checked every subcategory and there is NOT a "Linker" section or an "Input" section. Once again, this is Visual C++ 2008 without any customizations or strange settings. I have a screenshot at http://drp.ly/13ma9l if anybody's interested. How come my Property panel is completely different than everyone else's? Typical Microsoft crap I suppose...

  Let's say I have managed to hide the draftsfolder in outlook2003. I am wondering how I would be able to retreive it back without the use of 3rd party programs. (for instance as described in this article). I have the following code in outlook 2007.
