  • Generated Methods with Type Hints

    Hi all! Today we would like to introduce you just another feature from upcoming NetBeans 7.3. It's about generating setters, constructors and type hints of their parameters. For years, you can use Insert Code action to generate setters, getters, constructors and such. Nothing new. But from NetBeans 7.3 you can generate Fluent Setters! What does it mean? Simply that $this is returned from a generated setter. This is how it looks like: But that's not everything :) As you know, before a method is generated, you have to choose a field, which will be associated with that method (in case of constructors, you choose fileds which should be initialized by that constructor). And from NetBeans 7.3, type hints are generated automatically for these parameters! But only if a proper PHPDoc is used in a corresponding field declaration, of course. Here is how it looks like.     I took a quick look at how the ANTLRWorks 2 project is getting on... and discovered that today, March 23, the new early access preview 10 has been released: http://www.antlr.org/wiki/display/ANTLR4/1.+Overview Downloaded it immediately and was impressed when browsing through the Java.g file that I also found on the Antlr site: (Click to enlarge the image above.) On the page above, the following enhancements are listed: Add tooltips for rule references Finally fixed the navigator update bug Major improvements to code completion Fix legacy mode Many performance and stability updates I've blogged before about how the developers on the above project consider their code completion to be "scary fast". Some discussions have taken place about how code developed by the ANTLRWorks team could be contributed to the NetBeans project, since NetBeans IDE and ANTLRWorks 2 are both based on the NetBeans Platform.

  • Exalogic 2.0.1 Tea Break Snippets - Creating and using Distribution Groups

    By default running your Exalogic in a Virtual provides you with, what to Cloud Users, is a single large resource and they can just create vServers and not care about how they are laid down on the the underlying infrastructure. All the Cloud Users will know is that they can create vServers. For example if we have a Quarter Rack (8 Nodes) and our Cloud User creates 8 vServers those 8 vServers may run on 8 distinct nodes or may all run on the same node. Although in many cases we, as Cloud Users, may not be to worried how the Virtualisation Algorithm decides where to place our vServers there are cases where it is extremely important that vServers run on distinct physical compute nodes. For example if we have a Weblogic Cluster we will want the Servers with in the cluster to run on distinct physical node to cover for the situation where one physical node is lost. To achieve this the Exalogic Virtualised implementation provides Distribution Groups that define and anti-aliasing policy that the underlying Virtualisation Algorithm will take into account when placing vServers. It should be noted that Distribution Groups must be created before you create vServers because a vServer can only be added to a Distribution Group at creation time. Creating A Distribution Group To create a Distribution Groups we will first need to select the Account in which we want the Distribution Group to be created. Once we have selected the account we will see the Interface update and Account specific Actions will be displayed within the Action Panes. From the Action pane (or Right-Click on the Account) select the "Create Distribution Group" action. This will initiate the create wizard as follows. Distribution Group Details Within the first Step of the Wizard we can specify the name of the distribution group and this should be unique. In addition we can provide a detailed description of the group. Distribution Group Configuration The second step of the configuration wizard allows you to specify the number of elements that are required within this group and will specify a maximum of the number of nodes within you Exalogic. At this point it is always better to specify a group with spare capacity allowing for future expansion. As vServers are added to group the available slots decrease. Summary Finally the last step of the wizard display a summary of the information entered.

    The materials and recording from the February 2012 call for JCP program Spec Leads is now available.  This call features Martijn Verburg, alternate EC representative for the London Java Community and includes information on the Adopt-a-JSR program.  The materials and audio recording of the  "Leveraging the Community" call can be found on the multimedia page of jcp.org .  The EC meeting summaries from February and March 2012 have also been posted.  Following the April 2012 EC Meeting this morning (minutes and materials will be posted soon), there are now four EC Members that have lost their voting privileges--AT&T, SK Telecom, Samsung and Twitter.  In order to regain their privileges, these EC Members must attend two EC meeting in a row, as detailed in the EC Standing Rules.

    As you are aware JSR-236, Concurrency Utilities for the Java EE platform, is now a candidate for addition into Java EE 7. While it is a critical enabling API it is not necessarily obvious why it is so important. This is especially true with existing features like EJB 3 @Asynchronous, Servlet 3 async and JAX-RS 2 async. On his blog DZone MVB Sander Mak does an excellent job of explaining the motivation and importance of JSR-236. Perhaps even more importantly, he discusses potential issues with the API such alignment with CDI and Java SE Fork/Join. Read the excellent write-up here!

  • Draggable & Resizable Editors

    Thanks to a cool tip from Steven Yi (here in the comments to a blog entry), I was able to make a totally pointless but fun set of draggable and resizable editors: What you see above are two JEditorPanes within JPanels. The JPanels are within ComponentWidgets provided by the NetBeans Visual Library, which is also where the special border comes from. The ComponentWidgets are within a Visual Library Scene, which is within a JScrollPane in a TopComponent. Each editor has this, which means the NetBeans Java Editor is bound to the JEditorPane: jEditorPane1.setContentType("text/x-java"); EditorKit kit = CloneableEditorSupport.getEditorKit("text/x-java"); jEditorPane1.setEditorKit(kit); jEditorPane1.getDocument().putProperty("mimeType", "text/x-java"); A similar thing is done in the other JEditorPane, i.e., it is bound to the XML Editor. While the XML Editor also has code completion, in addition to syntax coloring, as can be seen above, this is not the case for the JEditorPane bound to the Java Editor, since the JEditorPane doesn't have a Java classpath, which is needed for Java code completion to work.

    Data governance,veri ile ilgili islemler için bir sorumluluklar sistemidir. Bu sistemin temelini ise politikalar, standartlar ve prosedürler olusturur. Sistem politikalar, standartlar ve prosedürler sayesinde verinin ne zaman, hangi sartlar altinda, hangi eylemlerde, hangi yöntemler ile kimler tarafindan kullanilacagina karar verir. Sistemin kurumda basarili bir sekilde islemesi için öncelikle kurumda farkindalik saglanmasi gereklidir. Farkindalik saglandiktan sonra ise kurum governance ve mimari kültürünü benimsemelidir. Ancak bu sartlar altinda sistem basarili bir sekilde isleyebilecektir. Bu sebeplerden dolayidir ki data governance kisa bir süreç degil, aksine kurum varligini sürdürdügü sürece isleyecek olan bir süreçtir. Bu durum bize data governance in bir proje degil bir program oldugunu açiklamaktadir. Programin baslangicinda kurumun ihtiyaçlarinin netlesmesi ve farkindaligin saglanmasi temeldir. Hedef kitle ise, veri ile dogrudan ve ya dolayli olarak iliski içerisinde olan herkesdir. Bu sebeple programin baslangicinda hedef kitleyi içeren ekipler ile toplantilar düzenlenecektir. Bu toplantilar sayesinde hem farkindalik saglanacak hemde ekiplerin ihtiyaçlari birebir ekipler tarafindan aktarilarak netlesecektir. Hedef kitlenin ihtiyaçlari netlestirildikten sonra ise devamli isleyecek olan bu sürecin planlamasi yapilacaktir. Bu sürecin planlanmasinda ihtiyaçlarin önceliklendirilmesi gerekmektedir. Sebebi ise her ekibin ihtiyaçlarinin farkli olabilecegi ve bütün ihtiyaçlara ayni anda karsilik verilemeyebileceginin öngörülmesidir. Bu öngörünün temeli ise ekiplerin ihtiyaçlarinin birbirleriyle olan baglantisidir. Süreç planlamasinda ihtiyaçlarin önceliklendirilmesinin ardindan kurumun büyüklügünün gözönünde bulundurulmasi gerekmedir. Kurumun büyüklügünün önemi ise eger kurum bir bütün olarak ayni anda govern edilemeyecek kadar büyük ise ihtiyaçlari öncelikli olarak bulunan ekipler ile govern edilmesine baslanarak sürecin belirli bir hiz ile bütün kurumda isler hale getirilmesini saglamaktir. Ihtiyaçlar belirlendikten ve ilgili ekipler seçildikten sonra artik programin planlanmasina geçilebilecek. Programin planlama asamasinda öncelikli olarak sürecin asamalarini kontrol edecek ve süreç kurum içerisinde isleyise geçtiginde kontrolü saglayacak olan Data Governance Office in planlanmasidir. Office in planlanmasiyla birlikte süreçteki roller ve bu rollerin sorumluluklari belirlenecektir. Planlama asamasinda Data governance office, roller ve sorumluluklar, güvenlik ve veri saklanan sistemler ele alinacak konulardir. Planlama asamasi tamamlandiginda ise belirlenen ekipler ve ihtiyaçlar dogrultusunda programin isleyis asamasina geçilebilecektir. Isleyis kisminda ekibin ihtiyaçlari dogrultusunda güvenlik konusunda ve veri saklanan sistemler üzerinde çalismalar yapilacaktir. Bu yapilan çalismalar bir süreç olarak dökümante edilecek ve süreç sona erdiginde baska bir ekiple baska bir ihtiyaç dogrultusunda çalisma yapilarak ayni süreç isletilecek ve böylece kurum içesinde ilgili süreçte standartlasma saglanacaktir. Güvenlik konusunda verinin erisim güvenligi ve kullanim güvenligi ele alinacaktir. Veri saklanan sistemler üzerindeki çalismalar ise saklanan sistemlerin program dahilinde belirlenen standartlar ile olusturulmasi ve yönetilmesi saglanacaktir. Isleyis kisminin ardindan ise programin izleme kismina geçilecektir. Bu kisimda artik Data Governance Office olusmus, politikalar, standartlar ve prosedürler belirlenmistir. Ve Data Governance Office çalisanlari rolleri ve sorumluluklari dahilinde programin isleyisini izleyecek ve gerek gördügünde politikalar standartlar ve prosedürler üzerinde degisiklikler yapacaklardir.

Hard to keep track of everything added over all those releases, so instead of making a "What's New in NetBeans IDE 7.4" slide deck (which would only cover the highlights of the NetBeans IDE 7.4 Release Notes), as we would normally do, we've instead produced "What's New in NetBeans IDE 7.x", which is around 50 slides presenting all the key features of the IDE, together with all the key newest features. Here's another but again kludgy implementation.   • Several New Hints

    Hi all! Today we would like to introduce you some of our new experimental hints for NetBeans 7.2. They are called: Unused Use Statement and Immutable Variables. Unused Use Statement This hint is quite simple. It highlights (underlines) your use statements, which are not used. Typical use case is after some refactoring, when you forgot to remove some obsolete use statements. This hint warns you on them and allows you to remove them easily. Just click on the hint bulb in the gutter and select Remove Unused Use Statement. And of course, it works in multiple use statements combined too. Immutable Variables The next one is the hint which checks too many assignments into a variable. And why? That's simple. Mostly you should use just one assignment into one variable. But sometimes you are lazy and you do something like: But it's quite wrong, because what you really do is: And that's exactly the case, when our new hint warns you, that Too many assignments (2) into variable $foo occured. Nothing more. Yes, we know that there are some cases, where could be more assignments and no warning should occur, e.g.: Because maybe one likes longer increment syntax more than the short one. So we tried to handle these cases to don't bother you if it's not a need. Note: We are almost sure that this hint doesn't cover all your use cases, because there are a lot of them. So if you find something strange, write it into our bugzilla so we can handle it better for you. Thanks for your patience! And the last thing is, that you can set the number of allowed assignments in Tools -> Options -> Editor -> Hints -> PHP: Immutable Variables. Note: This hint works just for a common variables, not for fields. We have an enhancement request for that and it should be implemented in next version of NetBeans (probably 7.3). It could be a new feature, a fix, a behavior change, a tip, etc. #7 WebSocket Session Throttling and JMX Monitoring GlassFish 4.1 embeds Tyrus 1.8.1 which is compliant with the Maintenance Release of JSR 356 ("WebSocket API 1.1"). This release also brings brings additional features to the WebSocket support in GlassFish. JMX Monitoring: Tyrus now exposes WebSocket metrics through JMX . In GF 4.1, the following message statistics are monitored for both sent and received messages: messages count messages count per second average message size smallest message size largest message size Those statistics are collected independently of the message type (global count) and per specific message type (text, binary and control message). In GF 4.1, Tyrus also monitors, and exposes through JMX, errors at the application and endpoint level.   • Sources of NetBeans Gradle Plugin

    Here is where you can find the sources of the latest and greatest NetBeans Gradle plugin: http://java.net/projects/nb-api-samples/sources/api-samples/show/versions/7.1/misc/GradleSupport To use it, download the sources above, open the sources into the IDE (which must be 7.1.1 or above), then you'll have a NetBeans module. Right-click it to run the module into a new instance of NetBeans IDE. In the Options window's Miscellaneous tab, there's a Gradle subtab for setting the Gradle location. In the New File dialog, in the Other category, you'll find a template named "Empty Gradle file". Make sure to name it "build" and to put it in the root directory of the application (by leaving the Folder field empty, you're specifying it should be created in the root directory). You'll then be able to expand the build.gradle file: Double-click a task to run it. When you open the file, it opens in the Groovy editor, if the Groovy editor is installed. When you make changes in the file, the list of tasks, shown above, is automatically recreated. It's at a really early stage of development and it would be great if developers out there would be interested in adding more features to it.
