SRV 0 0 88 dc.mydomain.com. _ldap._tcp.dc._msdcs.mydomain.com. SRV 0 0 389 dc.mydomain.com. _kerberos._tcp.dc._msdcs.mydomain.com. SRV 0 0 88 host.mydomain.com. Now i get this error when i try to join win xp to the domain The query was for the SRV record for _ldap._tcp.dc._msdcs.mydomain.com The following domain controllers were identified by the query: host.mydomain.com Common causes of this error include: Host (A) records that map the name of the domain controller to its IP addresses are missing or contain incorrect addresses. Domain controllers registered in DNS are not connected to the network or are not running. What do i need to change in order my win xp join the domain

• Access device with local ip over internet

  I apologize up front if this is the wrong place to post this question. It seemed like the best fit. I have a device which is connected to my local network which has an IP of 192.168.1.10 from my router. Additionally I use a Windows 7 machine that runs some software called DirectUpdate which allows me to resolve the local IP of the Windows 7 machine (192.168.1.5) to be accessible to the internet via my domain (example.com) - Basic dynamic DNS updating. I'd like to access the device from example.com. I am unsure how to do this as I don't have any way to install DirectUpdate (or any software) on the device to make the device available to the internet. Any insight here would be appreciated.   If I would like a client to use HIS DNS for a 3rd level domain name (ie test.domain.com), how would I be able to do that? So I have domain servers ns1.domain.com + ns2.domain.com for domain.com but now I want ns1.rabbit.com and ns2.rabbit.com for test.domain.com. How can this be done? I know it's possible because I saw it at some providers. Then, as a second part (and related) part; how to set up a WHOIS for that test.domain.com? So that, if you query my server for the information about test.domain.com, it'll be different than the info on domain.com? Thanks

  I'm not sure if I worded the question correctly to be honest but basically what I want to do is: When a user types in something like Expenses in the URL bar of a browser, I want the browser to be directed to a specific web address (very very similar to how OpenDNS shortcuts work) The IP address of the web address will not change amongst the different 'shortcuts'... i.e: mycompany.com = 10.0.0.0 mycompany.com/expenses = 10.0.0.0 mycompany.com/tracker = 10.0.0.0 When a user types expenses in the browser address bar and presses enter, I want the browser to automatically direct to the specified address as above. Would this be tricky to implement? I hope I have put my question forward appropriately :-) Additional notes: We are on a Windows envionment I believe the exchange server is running as the DNS server in the office

  Hi, Is it possible to run an email server on my home box using dynamic dns? The scenario is, I want to auto cc all incoming and outgoing emails from my one account to another, from some server side config instead of configuring email clients for rules. I have tried Google Apps Mail but it doesn't allow auto cc of outgoing emails. After having read tons of blogs, forum messages etc (hope I have been reading the correct info :) ) the only option to achieve what I am needing is to setup my own mail server, but the cost of getting a static IP doesn't fit my budget. Please can someone point me in the correct direction. Platform doesn't matter, I can setup a Windows or Linux server. Many Thanks

  I upgrade my Ubuntu desktop to 13.10. When I say upgrade I mean installed on a new partition from scratch (old partition is available if To the problem: I'm trying to ping a host (Drobo-FS server) by it's host name. I get "Unknown Host". However pinging from another computer on the same lan - works fine (a laptop with 12.04 lts). for that matter every ping from the 13.10 to the local lan by hostname fails, ping with ip works. I don't have a local DNS server but somehow all the other computers in the network find each other by host name - only this new one fails... help appreciated...

  I have a few machines set up on my internal 192.168.1.* network and i have one public ip, my router is links all ports to on internal linux machine on my network 192.168.1.3. I want to know how to configure the DNS server on my linux box to forward to internal LAN ip's depending on the host name. EG. computer4.83.22.56.12 would find my box then forward to 192.168.1.4 on the local network. This is so i can run multiple web server under one ip. btw, i use Ubuntu. Thanks Dave

• Network Share unavailable after DNS Change

  Hi, I have a server, called Server1 with various network shares on it. Our users map to this share using \\Server1\FileShareName1. During a DR Test, we rerouted all network traffic from Server1 to Server21. All folder shares are set up on Server21. We were hoping the the network shares would still be accessible using \\Server1\FileNameShare1, unfortunately, they are not. Does anyone know why this is happening? This is a Win2003 Environment, and DNS was flushed. I confirmed that IP addresses are matching between the two servers. Any help or insight is much appreciated.

  I am on a Windows network with a Windows 7 machine. For some strange reason, when I run ipconfig, I see that I have the wrong DNS suffix for my network adapters, e.g. def.companyname.com as oppsed to abc.companyname.com. My colleagues next to me, who are on the same network, have the correct suffix. Where does the problem originate, and is it something I can fix on my machine (and if so, how?), or is this something a network administrator must resolve? (I did ipconfig /release and /renew, but that did not help).

  I'm starting playing with nameservers. Currently I have: A domain: mydomain.com Access for writing the whois ns records. Access for writing DNS records at the domain hosting provider. nsX.foo.com A shared (hostC) hosting which cPanel writes in the nameserver of nsX.bar.com Basically I want the following structure: hostA.mydomain.com -> hostA hostB.mydomain.com -> hostB hostC.mydomain.com -> hostC mydomain.com -> hostC *.mydomain.com -> hostC Whats the correct way of configuring this? By the way I have configured the following records hostA.mydomain.com IN A [IP_OF_hostA] (at foo.com nameservers) hostB.mydomain.com IN A [IP_OF_hostB] (at foo.com nameserver) But now I dont know how to specify that @.mydomain.com and *.mydomain.com are resolved by the ns1.bar.com and ns2.bar.com, and it is hard to try with the delays after editing the records.

  We have migrated to Office365, everything is working except one company cannot email us as its connecting to our subdomains email server. So, We have companionsoftware.com.au hosted through office365 and all the required DNS entries. All seems to be working fine. We then have a web server hosting our website companionsoftware.com.au and our subdomain email attachments.companionsoftware.com.au (pop3/smtp). now for this one company when they try and email [email protected] it's connecting to STMP on attachments.companionsoftware.com.au. Now attachments.companionsoftware.com.au and companionsoftware.com.au have the same ip address, but this is only affecting one person (that we know of) when they try and email us. Have i configured something wrong or is it their server?

Background: The hosting itself incl. webspace, server etc. is separate from the domain and I am not going to book the domain with the same hoster as the webspace/server hoster.

  Have an issue where onsite clients cannot resolve VPNusers. but VPN users can resolve onsite machines. example. USER! uses LAPTOP1 USER1 connects to VPN gets internal IP address of 10.243.0.200 USER1 pings SERVER1 - resolve to ip and gets reply USER1 RDP into SERVER1 (inside VPN) USER1 pings LAPTOP1 from SERVER1 resolves to ip address last assigned by DHCP (10.243.0.139) ping fails USER1 pings 10.243.0.200 from SERVER1 gets reply. Running Server 2012r2 It is a domain controller, DNS and VPN server. VPN is just configured with basic default settings. All VPN users have static IP setup in AD. Not sure where to go from here.

• Problem in domain name of site in google search [on hold]

  My domain provider dont supports advanced DNS at this moment. So I have used iframe to forward to my webserver. Suppose my domain abc.com have a simple html which is opening xyz.com via Iframe. Google was showing abc.com on the search. But from last two days it is showing xyz.com, other things like description, name of the site are ok only the domain changed to xyz.com, but I want to show abc.com. When I'm typing the full domain then google showing the domain as I want. But If I type a part or any keyword then it showing that xyz.com. Anyone have any idea how to show abc.com again? EDIT: I dont know the domain name provider because its not mine. When I'm trying to set new A record its showing that "you need advanced dns to do this currently you are using simple DNS". I'm doing this from cpanel. Normally as per I know there are 3 sections. 1 domain name 2 A record 3Cname. But I dont have any domain name section.

• Hybrid static/dynamic Google Map

  Ever noticed that when you go to maps.google.com and do a search (say, car wash), it renders a lot of results (represented by small circles) and a few prominent ones (seen as regular-size pins)? Notice how quickly it does this? From what I can tell from analyzing this in Firebug, much of this is generated on the server and sent to the client as a static image. However, it's still dynamic. You can still zoom in and out, or click on a result and see a dynamic InfoWindow rendered. Google have made the map quick and smooth using static images, while still making it flexible. Is there a way to do this kind of 'pre-loading' with my own Google Map (implemented with the Google Maps API)?

I just want to know how to display google spread sheet in web application using servlets. I don't want to create a spreadsheet in my account and then make it shared and publish the URL in my web application. This does not fit my requirement.   hi there, i am working on an application that uses the Google Analytics Export API and i am trying to get the "Trend" result that Google shows against each of your site accounts as a percentage ie UP 35.04% or DOWN 16.02% How/where do they get this figure and is it available in the API somewhere. i have tried comparing averages of last month to this month/first week of the period vs last week of the period etc, but i cannot seem to get the same numbers that Google provides. any ideas? thanks in advance Doug
