• Extracting pure content / text from HTML Pages by excluding navigation and chrome content

  Hi, I am crawling news websites and want to extract News Title, News Abstract (First Paragraph), etc I plugged into the webkit parser code to easily navigate webpage as a tree. To eliminate navigation and other non news content I take the text version of the article (minus the html tags, webkit provides api for the same). Then I run the diff algorithm comparing various article's text from same website this results in similar text being eliminated. This gives me content minus the common navigation content etc. Despite the above approach I am still getting quite some junk in my final text. This results in incorrect News Abstract being extracted. The error rate is 5 in 10 article i.e. 50%. Error as in Can you Suggest an alternative strategy for extraction of pure content, Would/Can learning Natural Language rocessing help in extracting correct abstract from these articles ? How would you approach the above problem ?. Are these any research papers on the same ?. Regards Ankur Gupta

• Thumbnails from HTML pages created and used automatically in web application

  I am working on a Ruby on Rails app that visualizes product trees. The tree is built of nodes an everything is rendered in HTML/CSS3. Some of the products make several hundred SQL queries as the tree builds up (up to 800 queries on the biggest tree). I'd like to have small thumbnails of each tree to present it on an index page. So rendering each tree once again and modifying CSS to make a tiny representation is an option. But i think it's probably easier to generate thumbnails, crop, cache, and show these on the index page. Any ideas on how to do this? Any links/articles/blog posts that could help me?

  Hello I would like to know if there is any API feature that can tell me which users liked my application page. I know that it is possible to check if a user is a fan of any given Page using page.isFan verification or to get the number of fans. But is it possible to get the fans' User ID? If so, is it possible to get that data ordered by the date they became fans of the page? For exemple usign FQL i can get the user ID of someone o like an facebook object like post or photo. http://developers.facebook.com/docs/reference/fql/like Can i do this for the people who liked my page? • one subdomain as cname for another domain, can i have different custom 404 pages

  Actually I have a domain - domainone.com I have created a subdomain cname of anoter domain as abc.domaintwo.com - CNAME as - domainone.com so that I can use the js and css files e.g domainone.com/js/jquery.js files as abc.domaintwo.com/js/jquery.js SO Far everything is FINE, no issues at all. Problem: I have a custom 404 page for domainone.com and now when that abc.domaintwo.com goes 404 same page appears which i don't want. Any help is appreciated. Htaccess of domainone.com: ErrorDocument 404 /404/ All i want is to have different 404 for both..... Notes: Don't have access to shell for symlinks or alias as I am on shared hosting.

  I want to assign dynamically the href value depending of certain things, I thing is important to mention that I have a Master Page, url routing and I am assigning absolute paths (like http://www.stackoverflow.com/questions/...). I've tried the following: <a href="<%= DynamicURL%>">testing urls</a> <asp:HyperLink runat="server" ID="hpLink">this teset brouw</asp:HyperLink> and in code behind hpLink.NavigateUrl = "http://www.someurl.com/morepath/morethisngs"; I have also tried this <a runat="server" id="aAccesories">Testing ...</a> and in code behind I do this: aAccesorios.HRef = "http://www.someurl.com/morepath/morethisngs"; what ever I try when I see the html source code the links render like this: http://localhost:10027/projectTest/\www.someurl.com/morepath/morethisngs so I cant create absolute paths or absolute URLS, doesnt matter what I tried, this is weird isnt it? i adds the domain to the urls and then it removes the http:// then it adds the path I wanted hope you can help me, thanks!

  Hi, I am trying to record a http web page using Jmeter 2.3.3 version.I has setup the JMeter proxy and tried, but did n't work. I have followed the below steps. 1. Launch jmeter 2.3.3, added thred group to test plan 2. Under Workbench-add-non-test elements- added HTTP proxy server. proxy server setting are port:9090, target:use recording controller, grouping:donot group samplers, Type:HTTp request and checked the boxes of all under http sampler settings 3.Saved the settings 4. Now in browser(IE 7.0 or firefox 3.0.16), under connection settings, setup the manual proxy settings as local host and port as 9090(no auto detect settings nothing, only manual proxy). Setting saved 5.Now in the jmeter, started the http proxy server. 6. Open a browser and hit the webpage needs to be tested. The page is not opened. In fact because of the changes made in browsers, no pages are opened. Whenever i try hitting a page, the pages are recorded in the Jmeter. but without the page open, how can i test. I looking for an immediate answer and my work is blocked. Immediate answer would be appreciated.

  I recently made this wordpress blog, where you can sign up a team for an event, when clicking a link under the event post. This link takes you to a sign-up form on another php-page. • JQGRID Master detail on different pages

  Hello, I need some help on next things. I was trying to do next few things. I have one grid_test.php (that creates jqgrid) and index_grid.php (just to display grid.php). jQGrid in grid.php have custom button named 'Prikazi'. I want the user to select one row from that grid and when press custom button 'Prikazi' to redirect to another page to show subgrid (and to pass parameter which is the id of the selected row). Subgrid is in the file detail_test.php and also I have file called index_detail.php (for displaying the file detail_test.php with jqgrid). These php files communicate by passing parameter id_reda (or id) that is id of the selected row in grid_test.php. I have tried many ways to achieve that but I wasn't able. Subgrid php file (detail_test.php) receives that parameter but when I add that to sql statement in subgrid file it shows next error: Fatal error: Uncaught exception 'PDOException' with message 'SQLSTATE[42000]: Syntax error or access violation: 1064 You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near 'LIMIT 0, 0' at line 16' in C:\Zend\Apache2\htdocs\jqSuitePHP3811SourceRadna\php\jqGridPdo.php:62 I really don't know what am I doing wrong. Maybe the passing of parameter is wrong and maybe subgrid can't create colModel properly. Or it has something to do with sql statements. I need to get all the records from the details table plus the LAST record from the master table (last by the date in the master table). • Codeigniter Session Data not available in other pages after login

  So, I have set up a login page that verifies the user's credentials, and then sets codeigniter session data 'email' and 'is_logged_in' and a few other items. The first page after the login, the data is accessible. After that page, I can no longer access the session data. In fact, if I try reloading that first page, the session data is gone. I have tried storing it in the database, storing it unencrypted (bad idea I know, but it was for troubleshooting), and storing it encrypted. I have autoloaded the session library in config.php. Here's an example of the code I'm using to set the session data: $data = array( 'email' => $this->input->post('username'), 'is_logged_in' => true ); $this->session->set_userdata($data); And to retrieve it, I'm using : $this->session->userdata('email'); Or $this->session->userdata('is_logged_in'); I've done lots of work with PHP and cookies, and sessions before, but this is my first project with Codeigniter and I'm perplexed. Could it have something to do with directory issues? I have the login page and process controlled by a 'login' controller, and then it redirects to a 'site' controller. • Cookies not working for password-protected Pages on WordPress

  Initially I had the issue reported in this question. Now, what I noticed is that there are some browsers that accept the password, and there are some which don't. Difference? For some reason the cookie is generated when I log in into the Administration module, but it isn't when I write down the password to access the page, forcing it to simply reload. I can see the cookie created for the log-in, but I can see none for the password-protected Page. These happens on Internet Explorer, both version 7 and 8; only on some machines, though, but most of them fail this. I already tried white-listing the URL, and even letting it accept ALL cookies, to no avail. What may be the cause? If perhaps it's got something to do with question above, please help me! Thanks in advance. PS: If you know of another, cookie-free method to make a simple authentication, please link me to it. Thanks. Oh, and by the way, this is inside an Intranet with static, class C IPs.
