  • Complex regex question, data may or may not be in brackets

    I need to extract data from a source that presents it in one of two ways. The data could be formatted like this: Francis (Lab) 18,077 (60.05%); Waller (LD) 4,140 (13.75%); Evans (PC) 3,545 (11.78%); Rees-Mogg (C) 3,064 (10.18%); Wright (Veritas) 768 (2.55%); La Vey (Green) 510 (1.69%) Or like this: Lab 8,994 (33.00%); C 7,924 (29.07%); LD 5,197 (19.07%); PC 3,818 (14.01%); Others 517 (1.90%); Green 512 (1.88%); UKIP 296 (1.09%) The data I need to extract is the percentage and the party (these are election results), which is either in brackets (first example) or is the only non-numeric text. So far I have this: preg_match('/(.*)\(([^)]*)%\)/', $value, $match); Which is giving me the following matches (for first example): Array ( [0] => Francis (Lab) 18,077 (60.05%) [1] => Francis (Lab) 18,077 [2] => 60.05 ) So I have the percentage, but I also need the party label, which may or may not be in brackets and may or may not be the only text. Can anyone help?

    Hi, I am trying to get my head around the sharp architecture and used the visual studio template as described on the web: http://wiki.sharparchitecture.net/VSTemplatesAndCodeGen.ashx This is all cool. Unfortunately, I cannot add a strongly typed view as easily as I am used to ‘under’ asp.net mvc. What can I do to ‘enable’ this in VS 2008 Prof? I have also installed asp.net mvc 2.0 and would like to reflect this in my ‘vs studio sharp environment’. Any pointers would be very much appreciated. Many thanks in advance. Best wishes, Christian

  • Question about the MIT License and open/clsoed source

    Hallo, I have a small useful application (Websites managment tool developed in Java) which I want to publish online for free (every one can use it for free). But I do not want to make it opne source yet. It is additional affort to clean up the code, documantation and so on... And this is just a small useful tool. Can I use the MIT license in this case, or the MIT license obligates me to distribute the source code? Which license is best in this case? Thanks.

    I'm trying to write some c++ code that tests if a string is in a particular format. In this program there is a height followed by some decimal numbers: for example "height 123.45" or "height 12" would return true but "SomeOtherString 123.45" would return false.   • entity framework POCO template in a n-tiers design question

    HI all I was trying to follow the POCO Template walkthrough . And now I am having problems using it in n-tiers design. By following the article, I put my edmx model, and the template generated context.tt in my DAL project, and moved the generated model.tt entity classes to my Business Logic layer (BLL) project. By doing this, I could use those entities inside my BLL without referencing the DAL, I guess that is the idea of PI; without knowing anything about the data source. Now, I want to extend the entities (inside the model.tt) to perform some CUD action in the BLL project,so I added a new partial class same name as the one generated from template, public partial class Company { public static IEnumerable AllCompanies() { using(var context = new Entities()){ var q = from p in context.Companies select p; return q.ToList(); } } } however visual studio won't let me do that, and I think it was because the context.tt is in the DAL project, and the BLL project could not add a reference to the DAL project as DAL has already reference to the BLL. So I tried to added this class to the DAL and it compiled, but intelisense won't show up the BLL.Company.AllCompanies() in my web service method from my webservice project which has reference to my BLL project. What should I do now? I want to add CUD methods to the template generated entities in my BLL project, and call them in my web services from another project. I have been looking for this answer a few days already, and I really need some guides from here please. Bryan

  • Symfony forms question (restoring selected value of a dynamically populated sfWidgetFormSelect widge

    I am using Symfony 1.3.2 with Propel ORM on Ubuntu 9.10. I have developed a form that dynamically populates a select widget with cities in a selected country, using AJAX. Before the data entered on the form is saved, I validate the form. If validation fails, the form is presented back to the user for correction. However, because the country list is dynamically generated, the form that is presented for correction does not have a valid city selected (it is empty, since the country widget has not changed yet). This is inconvenient for the user, because it means they have to select ANOTHER country (so the change event is fired), and then change back to the original country they selected, then FINALLY select the city which they had last selected. All of this is forced on the user because another (possibly unrelated) field did not vaildate. I tried $form-getValue('widget_name'), called immediately after $form-bind(), but it seems (infact, IIRC, if form fails to validate, all the values are reset to null) - so that does not work. I am currently trying a nasty hack which involves the use of directly accesing the input (i.e. tainted) data via $_POST, and setting them into a flash variable - but I feel its a very nasty hack) What I'm trying to do is a common use case scenario - is there a better way to do this, than hacking around with $_POST etc?

I didn't have much luck googling for ":", too common of a punctuation mark :/ IDIV - Signed Integer Division Usage: IDIV src Modifies flags: (AF,CF,OF,PF,SF,ZF undefined) Signed binary division of accumulator by source. If source is a byte value, AX is divided by "src" and the quotient is stored in AL and the remainder in AH. If source is a word value, DX:AX is divided by "src", and the quotient is stored in AL and the remainder in DX. Taken from "Intel Opcodes and Mnemonics" What does DX:AX mean?     I'm working on a utility to update a list of entities in a database as a group. The database contains a list of entities. The result of the update is a new list. The API accepts this new list. The update may end up modifying some of the entities in the list, creating new ones and deleting some. So at the entity level, I may have to do any of an insert, delete or update operation. But it's always true that the final list in the database will be the same as the list passed down to the API. Is there in Hibernate a way to treat this operation at the list level, that is, tell Hibernate to persist this list of entities, and let it take care of which need to be created, updated or deleted? There is no entity/table representing this list, btw. Just the entities themselves in a table.

    We have developed a ASP.NET web application and has implemented a custom authentication solution using active directory as the credentials store. Our front end application uses a normal login form to capture the user name and password and leverages the Win32 LogonUser method to authenticate the user’s credentials. When we are calling the LogonUser method, we are using the LOGON32_LOGON_NETWORK as the logon type. The issue we have found is that user profile folders are being created under the C:\Users folder of the web server. The folder seems to be created when a new user who has never logged on before is logging in for the first time. As the number of new users logging into the application grows, disk space is shrinking due to the large number of new user folders getting created. Has anyone seen this behavior with the Win32 LogonUser method? Does anyone know how to disable this behavior?

    I am using PHP and FPDF to generate a PDF with a list of items. My problem is if the item list goes on to a second or third page, I want to keep the Item Name, Quantity and Description together. Right now, it will go to a second page, but it may split up all of the details for a particular item.   • UIToolbar UIBarButtonItem Alignment question

    I need to create a UIToolbar that has two UIBarButtonItems. The 1st button must be centered and the 2nd item must be right aligned. I understand and use Flexible spacing and it works great when I need to balance buttons across the UIToolbar, but with only two buttons, I can't seem to perfectly center the middle button. I've even initialized the view.toolbarItems array with NSArray *items = [[NSArray alloc] initWithObjects:fixed, flex, center_button, flex, right_button, nil]; and set fixed.width = right_button.width ... but still, the center_button is never perfectly centered.

    I am trying to spawn a thread to take care of DoWork task that should take less than 3 seconds. Inside DoWork its taking 15 seconds. I want to abort DoWork and transfer the control back to main thread. I have copied the code as follows and its not working.     Hello, im fairly new to objective-c, most of it is clear however when it comes to memory managment I fall a little short. Currently what my application does is during a NSURLConnection when the method -(void)connectionDidFinishLoading:(NSURLConnection *)connection is called upon I enter a method to parse some data, put it into an array, and return that array.     I would like to implement an observer pattern in Objective-C where the observer implements an interface similar to SKPaymentTransactionObserver and the observable class just extends my base observable. My observable class looks something like what is below. Notice I'm making copies of the observers before enumeration to avoid throwing an exception . I've tried adding an NSLock around add observers and notify observers, but I run into a deadlock.   • EJB3 - @Column(insertable="false") question

    Hi All, I'm building a J2SE application with EJB3 and an Oracle Express Edition DB. My problem is like that - I set an EntityBean in my project which matches a table in the DB. The table contains a column which is not nullable and has a default value. All I want is that when persisting a new data to this table using the EJB, the column's value will get its default value. This is how I set it in the project: //holds user's first name @Basic(optional = true) @Column(name = "FIRST_NAME", insertable = false, updatable = true, nullable = false) private String m_firstName; I also set it in the ORM.XML file: <basic name="firstName"> <column name="FIRST_NAME" insertable="false" updatable="true" nullable="false"/> </basic> But for some reason, when creating a new EntityBean and not setting the first name field, and then trying to persist it, i get the following exception: Exception [TOPLINK-4002] (Oracle TopLink Essentials - 2.1 (Build b60e-fcs (12/23/2008))): oracle.toplink.essentials.exceptions.DatabaseException Internal Exception: java.sql.SQLException: ORA-01400: cannot insert NULL into ("TSDB"."USERS"."FIRST_NAME") Which means that the persistence manager tries to insert the first name field although I told it not to.     I'm a new Python programmer who is having a little trouble using 'self' in classes. For example: class data: def __init__(self): self.table = [] def add(self, file): self.table.append(file) data.add('yes') In this function I want to have table be a variable stored in the class data and use add to modify it. However, when I run this script it gives me the error: Traceback (most recent call last): File "/Projects/Python/sfdfs.py", line 7, in <module> data.add('yes') TypeError: add() takes exactly 2 positional arguments (1 given) I assume that I am trying to call the function the wrong way in this instance, as this syntax is very similar to an example in the python documentation: http://docs.python.org/3.1/tutorial/classes.html

I have a line: Microsoft.Office.Server.Diagnostics.PortalLog.LogString("*** BOO Feature activating ***"); VS shows "Office" as red b/c it cannot resolve symbol "Office". Can I make Resharper just add the reference automatically, or do I need to manually surf to the reference and add it?
