  • On Mac, two jpg's whose color should match do not

    So I'm designing a myspace page and I have two images, one is a repeating bg image, and another is an image which loads on a layer above it, which acts as a header/masthead. For some reason, on Macs only, and only in the browser (tested in safari and ff), the masthead renders slightly darker than the repeating bg image, creating this color inconsistency. The block that extends up behind the album artwork is a solid box made with css which blocks some of myspace's standard content. It actually renders as the proper color, blending in well with the bottom portion of this image, which is the repeating part of the background, but becomes noticeable as it extends up, over the masthead, which is darker than it should be. Both images where created in GIMP and saved as jpg's using, as far as i can tell, the same settings. Here's the pic of what is going on: Screenshot - Click Me!!!   • Mixed static and dynamic link on Mac OS

    I want to use gcc to produce a shared library, but i want to link some other libraries it depends on statically. Now to produce the "standard" dynamically linked output file i use gcc -dynamiclib *.o -lfoo -lbar -o outfile which would be gcc -shared *.o -lfoo -lbar -o outfile on for a binutils ld on a linux system. Now if i want libfoo and libbar to be linked statically, I can name the static libraries directly gcc -dynamiclib *.o /usr/lib/libfoo.a /usr/lib/libbar.a -o outfile however, that way i have to look for the library files myself. GNU binutils ld supports this: gcc -shared *.o -l:libfoo.a -l:libbar.a -o outfile but apple's ld doesnt. Is there a way to make apple's ld look for the static libraries himself? If not, is there another way that would avoid naming the exact location of the archives, e.g. producing an intermediate output file out of the object files requiring libfoo and libbar with the -static switch and linking that file together with the remaining objectfiles to create the dynamic object?

  • Intel 5100 AGN disconnects and then disables my Verizon FiOS Actiontec router

    I am a new user (my first trial) of Ubuntu and booted up my Windows Vista laptop up with the Ubuntu CD. I was able to connect wirelessly to my router and stay connected for about a minute. After that it would disconnect and my router would be disabled: none of my other wireless devices would see the signal any longer, as if it disappeared. I would have to cycle the router's power toggle off/on to get it to come back on and put out a signal again. This happened repeatedly. I experienced no other problems trying the software (i.e., accessed my files w/o issue). I did not attempt to connect with an Ethernet cable. Here are the specs on my system: laptop is HP Pavilion dv5 Notebook PC system type is 64-bit operating system CPU is Intel Core 2 Duo P8600 2.4GHz ram is 4 GB network card is Intel WiFi Link 5100 AGN I read elsewhere in this forum that 64-bit systems may not be compatible with Ubuntu. Can anyone help me with this? I'd really like to be able to use this op system.

  • Can't get Javac to work on Mac OS X

    I am trying to compile with javac on Snow Leopard through the command line. I have Xcode installed. I am just using a simple Hello World file, it works in Eclipse but I can't get it to work using javac. javac -version returns javac 1.6.0_17 HelloWorld.java public class HelloWorld { public static void main(String[] args) { String message = "Welcome to Java!"; System.out.println(message); } } I type: javac HelloWorld.java and get the following error. HelloWorld.java:1: class, interface, or enum expected public class HelloWorld ^ 1 error and... javac -cp . HelloWorld.java returns the same. echo $CLASSPATH just returns blank. Thanks for the help.

    Hello emacs gurus, I'm out of ideas here - my emacs crashes when popup dialog is opened. The x-popup-dialog function is probably to blame but I found no workaround to this. My Emacs version is 23.1.1 . Unfortunately some functionality of emacs calls this (e.x. customize asks whether it should save the changes) which causes the crash. Does anybody know how to fix it or disable it?

You do not appear to be using the NVIDIA X driver.     I got a MacMini at work for development, and was asked to follow this article to install SVN on it: http://developer.apple.com/tools/subversionxcode.html The article assumes that only Apache 1.3 was installed and asks the reader to install Apache 2. I've since learned that the MacMini has Apache 2 already installed. So basically I've installed two versions of Apache 2. The preinstalled one has access to PHP, so I wanted to remove my version, but I'm unsure of how. My version has httpd.conf stored at: /usr/local/apache2/conf/httpd.conf And the preinstalled version has it stored at: /etc/apache2/httpd.conf, which I believe is an alias for /private/etc/apache2/httpd.conf Thanks for your help

Here the clipboard of simulator once pastes the art properly but when I copy another art then too it pastes the previous art into textview. How to solve this problem? It works fine for me on dev environment, by placing the plist file in location /Library/LaunchAgents/.To distribute and install this on other laptops, I created the package using package maker tool. As part of installation process I want to change permission of the plist file and copy it to /Library/LaunchAgents location. Could any one tell me how can i achieve this ?     I am lost on choosing a good miotherboard at a decent price for my Intel i7-930 CPU. I have read bad things about all of them so far. Issues with RAM not working correctly, Windows not loading with USB keyboards plugged in and all kinds of nightmare stories. Here is my needs. - 6g/b SATA 3 - USB 3.0 - Cheaper is better - Support for up to 24gb of RAM, I will start out with only 12gb though - I will use 64bit v. of Windows 7 so the 4gb RAM limit should not be a problem from my OS - Should be able to boot even if I have a USB keyboard plugged in. If you have experience with a motherboard that meets these specs, please do tell about it. I appreciate any help, I am stuck right now on picking a good board.
