    - by nobosh

  • JQuery invert table selection

    - by Lars Tackmann
I have page part like this <div id="inbox"> <h1>Headline</h1> <p>First paragraph</p> <table> <tbody> <tr> <td>table stuff</td> </tr> </tbody> </table> <p>Second paragraph</p> </div> I want to assign a handler to everything within the #inbox div that is not a part (a child) of the table. I tried to do something like $('#inbox:not(:has(table))').click(function(){ alert('hello inbox'); }); But that does not work, so how do I invert the selection of the table inside the #inbox ?

  • problem when cloning jQuery UI datepicker

    - by h3
I have a div in which there is a datepicker. I use something like this to clone it: mydiv = $('#someDiv'); // works fine so far mydiv.find('input.datefield').datepicker(); // clone without the events and insert newDiv = myDiv.clone(false).insertAfter(myDiv); // datepicker won't re-init if this class is present newDiv.find('.hadDatepicker').removeClass('hadDatepicker'); // reinitialize datepicker newDiv.find('input.datefield').datepicker(); This is a stripped down version of my code. It works and the calendar shows up as expected where it is expected .. but when a date is clicked, the previous datepicker's value gets updated.. (the one from which it was cloned). I've tried to destroy the (inexisting) instance before like this: newDiv.find('input.datefield').datepicker('destroy').datepicker(); No luck .. I've checked how it keeps track of instances and manually cleared the data like this: newDiv.find('input.datefield').data('datepicker', false).datepicker('destroy').datepicker(); Still no luck. What I don't understand is that only the date selection behavior is buggy, everything else works as expected. I really don't know what else to check now ..

  • Refresh a jQuery function

    - by Toro
Is possible refresh a function every x seconds or refresh it on single event? I explain: I have a function that make pagination on my website, inside every div that are "pages" I have some pictures where I have added LightBox. Everything works nice on the first div (page) but when I change the page it doesnt' work anymore. I tried to fix in this way: $('.pagination a').click(function () { initShadow(); }); In this way it work on the pageLoad and on the first page that I change, than it stop again. So I need to fix this issue, everytime I change the "page" I would like it works fine. Is possible to refresh a function every x second or to refresh it everytime I click on the pagination buttons?

  • Make jQuery-ui draggable handle cover entire page

    - by Acorn
What would be the best way to make an element draggable when clicking anywhere in the window? Would I have to use a container <div> that covers the whole window? I tried making the body draggable but that didn't work. The problem with using a container <div> is that it moves and therefore doesn't cover the whole of the screen any more after it has been dragged. What about making a really vast container <div> that spans a large number of pixels in every direction so you would never get to the edge of it. Is that a bad idea? The idea (simplified) is to have a page with a square in the middle that can be dragged by dragging any part of the window. Here's a wonderfully unnecessary mockup :)

  • jquery validation problems

    - by CoffeeCode
to custom validate an input i wrote a script: function cardNumberCheck(value, element) { var res = false; $.get("/CaseHistories/ValidateCardNumber", { caseHistoryId: $('#CaseHistory_Id').val(), cardNumber: $('#CaseHistory_CardNumber').val() }, function(data) { res = data }); //alert(res) => works fine return true/false return res; } $.validator.addMethod("cardValidate", cardNumberCheck, "invalid"); if ($('#CaseHistory_CardNumber').is("form *")) { //<= check if elem is in a form $('#CaseHistory_CardNumber').rules("add", { required: true, cardValidate: true, messages: { required: "*", cardValidate: "invalid" } }); } EDIT: the required rule works fine, but my validation method doesn't dispalt the message. and the submit works even if the elements data havent passed the cardNumberCheck validation whats not right here?

  • Using jQuery to rapidly scroll through a countdown

    - by CaptainAwesomePants
I have a webpage that displays the number 0, and when the user presses "start", the number should rapidly increasing until it reaches a target number (maybe 10,000 or so) a few seconds later. I'd like the numbers to scroll by as if they're on a slot machine wheel. I've managed to mostly hack something together using the ScrollTo plugin, but it's slow and choppy. It always stops briefly at certain divs along the way. Perhaps I'm using it wrong. Is there a better way to accomplish such an effect?

  • jQuery: 'async: false' Not Working With IE7 / IE6

    - by Norbert
I created a simple tracking script which adds the users info to a database when the page is unloaded. It works on all browsers except IE7 and IE6. IE7 gives me errors, but I can't open the "debugger" because I'm using the standalone version (or at least that's what I think the problems is). I removed the async: false, from the script below and I didn't get any errors, but I need async set to false in order for the script to work. Any ideas? $(window).unload(function() { $.ajax({ type: "POST", async: false, url: "add.php", data: "ip=" + jIp + "&date=" + jDate + "&time=" + jTime, }); }); Update: I got IE7 to display the error, kinda. When I click OK on the dialog on top, it closes both dialogs. Ugh!

  • jquery ajax success problem

    - by oshirowanen
Why is it that the following script works clientside by removing the relievant html entity: $(".ui-delete").click(function() { $.ajax({ url: 'delete.aspx', type: 'POST', data: { strWidgetID:$(this).parents(".widget").attr("id") }, error: function() { alert('Error'); }, success: function() { alert('Success'); } }); $(this).parents(".widget:first").remove(); }); But the following query which is "more proper", does not work by removing the html entity? $(".ui-delete").click(function() { $.ajax({ url: 'delete.aspx', type: 'POST', data: { strWidgetID:$(this).parents(".widget").attr("id") }, error: function() { alert('Error'); }, success: function() { alert('Success'); $(this).parents(".widget:first").remove(); } }); }); The first script does both clientside and serverside correctly, the second script does serverside correctly, but on clientside, it just displays an alert "success", but does not remove the html entity "widget" Any ideas?

  • jquery: How to completely remove a dialog on close

    - by Svish
When an ajax operation fails, I create a new div with the errors and then show it as a dialog. When the dialog is closed I would like to completely destroy and remove the div again. How can I do this? My code looks something like this at the moment: $('<div>We failed</div>') .dialog( { title: 'Error', close: function(event, ui) { $(this).destroy().remove(); } }); When I run this the dialog box shows up correctly, but when I close it the dialog is still visible in the html (using FireBug). What am I missing here? Something I have forgotten? Update: Just noticed my code gives me an error in the firebug console. $(this).destroy is not a function Anyone able to help me out? Update: If I do just $(this).remove() instead, the item is removed from the html. But is it completely removed from the DOM? Or do I somehow need to call that destroy function first as well?

  • jQuery Validation Plugin + equalTo Not Working

    - by Tom Winchester
Hey guys, Here is what I am currently using to attempt to validate a form. When I press submit with no values entered into the form, I get the error messages for each of the inputs as expected. However, no matter what I put in newpassword2 or newemail2 they never 'pass' validation. I've tried everything from copy and paste to making them one letter each to no success. Perhaps I am not using the equalTo attribute correctly... I've also verified that all the names of the selectors agree with the input id's on the form. Also, all of the inputs are contained within the form, so there aren't any outside of the form tags (I read that was an issue with someone else). $(document).ready(function() { $("#account_data").validate({ rules: { newpassword1: { required: true }, newpassword2: { equalTo: "#newpassword1" }, newemail1: { required: true, email: true }, newemail2: { equalTo: "#newemail1" } } }); }); Any help would be extremely appreciated! THANK YOU!!! -Tom-

  • Jquery Slider With Fading

    - by McNabbToSkins
I am thinking about using the easySlider plug-in to create a banner slider on my page but I want to get the effect of the banner images to fade in instead of sliding from right to left. Does anyone know of a good plug-in that will allow this or if easySlider allows this? I read the documentation and it didn't look like it had this option.

  • adding a flash object to FancyBox using jquery swfobject

    - by Freeman
Fellows, I dont seem to be getting a solution. I have a a video gallery which I create by dynamically from a database. I have managed to create a flash object which plays well without FancyBox, however I want a person to click on the gallery and then an swobject is created which will then be show on a fancybox. Here is part of my javascript which is not working. $.ajax({ data:"search=vids&id="+ art, type: "POST", url: "doyit.php", success: function(msg){ $(".videogallery").html('<h3>Click to view videos of '+name+'</h3>'+msg); $('.video').bind('click',function(ev){ var vid=$(this).attr("href"); var img=$(this).find("img").attr("src") $(this).flash({swf: "mediaplayer.swf", flashvars: { file: vid, image: img } }) $(this).fancybox( { ajax:{ type:"POST"}, 'padding' : 0, 'autoScale' : false, 'transitionIn' : 'none', 'transitionOut' : 'none', 'title' : this.title, 'width' : 680, 'height' : 495 } ); $(this).unbind(ev) return false; }) } Any suggestions?

  • How to do custom jquery lives in 1.4.1?

    - by chobo2
Hi I been sort of using jquery livequery plugin and jquery live together. However now that I am using 1.4 it seems jquery livequery is not working 100%. So I am not sure how to tackle this problem I have this in livequery $('#Description').livequery(function () { $('#Description').htmlarea({ toolbar: [ ["bold", "italic", "underline", "strikethrough", "|", "subscript", "superscript"], ["increasefontsize", "decreasefontsize"], ["orderedlist", "unorderedlist"], ["indent", "outdent"], ["link", "unlink"] ] }); }); So everytime I loaded up my page. It would actually run that code in the livequery and display and if I went to another ajax tab and come back it would go into this again. Now I am not sure how to change it to .live() jquery 1.4 since I just tried to do this $('#Description').live(function () { $('#Description').htmlarea({ toolbar: [ ["bold", "italic", "underline", "strikethrough", "|", "subscript", "superscript"], ["increasefontsize", "decreasefontsize"], ["orderedlist", "unorderedlist"], ["indent", "outdent"], ["link", "unlink"] ] }); }); and it does not seem to work. the plugin is not binded and the rich html editor is not displayed.

  • How to make placeholder varablies in jquery validate 1.7?

    - by chobo2
Hi I am using jquery 1.4.2 and jquery validate 1.7(http://bassistance.de/jquery-plugins/jquery-plugin-validation/) Say I have this example that I just grabbed off some random site(http://www.webreference.com/programming/javascript/jquery/form_validation/) 8 <script type="text/javascript"> 9 $(document).ready(function() { 10 $("#form1").validate({ 11 rules: { 12 name: "required",// simple rule, converted to {required:true} 13 email: {// compound rule 14 required: true, 15 email: true 16 }, 17 url: { 18 url: true 19 }, 20 comment: { 21 required: true 22 } 23 }, 24 messages: { 25 comment: "Please enter a comment." 26 } 27 }); 28 }); 29 </script> now is it possible to do something like this 10 $("#form1").validate({ var NameHolder = "name" 11 rules: { 12 NameHolder: "required",// simple rule, converted to {required:true} 13 email: {// compound rule 14 required: true, 15 email: true So basically I want to make sort of a global variable to hold theses rule names( what correspond to the names on that html control). My concern is the names of html controls can change and it kinda sucks that I will have to go around and change it in many places of my code to make it work again. So basically I am wondering is there away to make a global variable to store this name. So if I need to change the name I only have to change it in one spot in my javascript file sort of the way stopping magic numbers ?
