  • android get contact phone number

    hi, im trying to get a contacts name and phone number from the contacts list. im using: contactname = Curser.getString(Curser.getColumnIndex(Contacts.DISPLAY_NAME)); to get their name and it works fine. But using: contactphone = Curser.getString(Curser.getColumnIndex(ContactsContract.CommonDataKinds.Phone.NUMBER)); causes no warnings or errors and builds fine, yet force closes in both the emulator (2.1) and my htc desire (nexus one 2.2 rom/htc desire 2.1 rom). Any ideas how to fix it? oh and contactname and contactphone are both strings thanks, ng93

    Hi, i am having a UIWebView showing and HTML page that has some checkboxes, radio buttons. My Application has tabbar controller that switches b/w two controllers. How i can maintain the current state of UIWebView. ( e.g. i have selected a checkbox and i change the tab and go to other ViewController and again come back to UIWebView. the WebView resets itself and goes to the start... i want to maintain the state of UIWebView ( all the checkboxes clicked) .. how i will do that ?? any idea ?? thanks in advance

  • Sessionstate not being saved between pages

    Hi, i am having problems with an asp.net c# site whereby i am setting a session state object to true and then redirecting to another page that needs to check the value of the session state object and it is null. Sometimes it is set correctly and other times is is simply null. When i debug on my local machine it works perfectly every time. Only when i upload to my web server does this temperamental behaviour happen. As it is based around the security of the site it is obviously important that the session data be valid and accurate every time. Is session state data unreliable? AFAIK its set to inproc, cookieless, 30 min timeout, vanilla installation of IIS. Does anyone have any suggestions? Perhaps i need to thread.sleep inbetween the storing of the session data and the reading? NB: the time between the write and the read is about 70ms.. ample time for the data to be written to RAM.....

    Hello, I am trying to get a .jar file onto my mobile device. I have written a j2me application and I want to get it onto my phone. I have developed it in eclipse galileo and I export my project folder to a jar. When I try to download the jar file from the internet onto my phone I get an "incorrect description" error. Does anyone know how to get a j2me application onto a mobile device or why I may be getting this error? Thanks in advance.

    So I have my main class here, where basically creates a new jframe and adds a world object to it. (So far I have my world class extending a jpanel and implementing a keylistener. In the constructor i addKeyListener(this).   • How to handle model state errors in ajax-invoked controller action that returns a PartialView

    I have a POST controller action that returns a partial view. Everything seems really easy. but. I load it using $.ajax(), setting type as html. But when my model validation fails I thought I should just throw an error with model state errors. But my reply always returns 500 Server error. How can I report back model state errors without returning Json with whatever result. I would still like to return partial view that I can directly append to some HTML element. Edit I would also like to avoid returning error partial view. This would look like a success on the client. Having the client parse the result to see whether it's an actual success is prone to errors. Designers may change the partial view output and this alone would break the functionality. So I want to throw an exception, but with the correct error message returned to the ajax client.

  • Redirect Log output to sdcard on customer's phone

    My customers are having a problem with my app, and I have been unable to reproduce the problem on my development phone. How to debug this problem? The android Log class is great, but my customers do not know how to use 'adb' or the USB debug cable. Is there some way to redirect Log output to a file on the phone's SD card? Then the customer could easily email the log file to me. Even if this redirection requires programming on my part, I could at least distribute a 'debug' version of the app. Thanks, Tom

  • Modelling multiple simultaneous states

    How can you go about modelling an object that can have multiple simultaneous states? For example, you could have a person that's waiting for a bus. That's one state. But they could also be reading a newspaper while waiting for the bus. Furthermore, they could be thinking about something while reading the newspaper. They could also be sniffing their nose because they have a cold. That's a four states in all taking place at the same time. Obviously using booleans would be tedious and unflexible. Also, a conventional state pattern would mean that states are exclusive and can't be simultaneous in nature. The only thing I can think of is a State pattern combined with a Composite. Would this do or is there a way of taking things further?

    My requirement is, i want to cancel my alarm manager or services when application going to destroy/closed. if i am in activity A by clicking on button started activity B suddenly user is going to press home button. ---- if application is running in background then don't cancel service. but when he going to remove from recent list of application at that time cancel service. Service/Alarm manager will work even when user has sent application in background by pressing home screen. No of way application can destroy or removed. 1) by clicking back button multiple times if stack have multiple activities. 2) by pressing home button and then remove from recent list. i am facing issue with (2)second option. in that when user press home button at that time service or alarm manager should be work. But when user will be going to remove application from recent list at that time i want to cancel service/alarm manager. Second issue. my service is called at fix interval of time. if i will write code on onCreate(), onDestroy() in each activity. then timer will start from beginning. Is there any listners who talk me application is going to closed?

    I need to validate an Irish phone number but I don't want to make it too user unfriendly, many people are used to writing there phone number with brackets wrapping their area code followed by 5 to 7 digits for their number, some add spaces between the area code or mobile operator. The format of Irish landline numbers is an area code of between 1 and 4 digits and a number of between 5 to 8 digits. e.g. (021) 9876543 (01)9876543 01 9876543 (0402)39385 I'm looking for a regular expression for Javascript/PHP. However.. when I run an app on Eclipse, it still insists on opening it up in an emulator rather than my phone. How can I fix that?

    Hi all. Problem: I have CaretListener and DocumentListener listening on a JTextPane. I need an algorithm that is able to tell which line is the caret at in a JTextPane, here's an illustrative example: Result: 3rd line Result: 2nd line Result: 4th line and if the algorithm can tell which line the caret is in the JTextPane, it should be fairly easy to substring whatever that is in between the parentheses as the picture (caret is at character m of metadata): -- This is how I divide the entire text that I retrieved from the JTextPane into sentences: String[] lines = textPane.getText().split("\r?\n|\r", -1); The sentences in the textPane is separated with \n. Problem is, how can I manipulate the caret to let me know at which position and which line it is in? I know the dot of the caret says at which position it is, but I can't tell which line it is at. Assuming if I know which line the caret is, then I can just do lines[<line number>] and manipulate the string from there. In Short: How do I use CaretListener and/or DocumentListener to know which line the caret is currently at, and retrieve the line for further string manipulation? Please help. Thanks.   • Android How to get position of selected item from gridview without using onclicklistner, using ontouchlistner instead

    I have a gridview, I need to do stuff on motioneven.action_down and do something for motioneven.action_up ... using onclicklistener is great but does not give me this needed functionality. Is there anyway to easily call the gridview and get its selected item in a ontouchlistener ? I've been having limited success with making my own implementation. Its hard to get the right x,y because if i call the child it gives me the x and y relative to the child so a button would be 0,0 to 48,48 but it does not tell you the actual location on the screen relative to the gridview or the screen itself. this is what i've been doing, its partially working so far.     I have a DAE model that is parsed into several parts. I am able to deal with them separately, such as changing their material or colour but I am having problems adding click or hover listeners over the children. For example, lets say I have a model of a kitty where each facial feature is a child. I want to be able to hover or click the features and have a window pop up explaining the feature. I've tried parsing the model and adding listeners but it doesn't seem to work. Thanks in advance! L

    Hello, my Question is as follows: What does GEvent.addListener(map, "click" function(){...}) return into the callback function? I don't find any information in the GMaps reference at all, can you show me some? The only thing I found out was that there are two parameters, "overlay" and "latLng" that are passed. The name of these parameters should not be of interest right? I could also name them "foo" and "bar" as far as I know. But the parameter "overlay" seems to be empty anyway? Also I have problems passing these two parameters directly into a callback function I created myself which looks like that... GEvent.addListener(gmap, "click", generateMarker(overlay, latLng)); ... instead of writing the following, which actually works fine. GEvent.addListener(gmap, "click", function(overlay, latLng) { generateMarker(overlay, latLng); });

  • Asp.Net : IHttpModule + m_context.Server.Transfer = session state error

    I have an IHttpModule that implements IRequiresSessionState. The session state is at "on" on the page directive and I also added it to the web.config. In the method "OnBeginRequest" in the IHttpModule, I make a Server.Transfer but I get the error : Session state can only be used when enableSessionState is set to true, either in a configuration file or in the Page directive. When I access the page directly or with a Response.Redirect, there is no error. Any idea? Update : The error occur in a page extending System.Web.UI.Page in the method InitializeCulture() which is an override.
