  What do I need to do to tighten down a ColdFusion server for internet facing apps? The only thing that specifically came to mind was to restrict the CFIDE and JRunScripts directories to a local subnet. Are there settings in the administrator I can tweak to make the applications more secure?

• Getting ajaxterm to work on Debian Lenny

  I've been knocking my head out for a while on this one and have read many tutorials, but I just can't get this to work. Ajaxterm, is a webbased SSH client; once installed apt-get install ajaxterm and then enabling it with /etc/init.d/ajaxterm start I should be able to access the SSH terminal with http://mywebsite:8022/ But doing so only gives me a "Page not found", any suggestions?   I am running a 6.5 version of Teamcity on a Debian Squeeze server and I use OpenLDAP to authenticate users. I know I can use LDAPS to be able to use encrypted password authentication, however this has been deprecated by the OpenLDAP developers, see: http://www.openldap.org/faq/data/cache/605.html I would like to know if there is a way to configure LDAP authentication in Teamcity to use StartTLS on port 389. • RapidSSL not trusted using the check on "why no padlock"

  On http://www.whynopadlock.com/check.php whilst testing the following url https://www.bobclubs.com/pay I get the following message:- ERROR: cannot verify www.bobclubs.com's certificate, issued by `/C=US/O=GeoTrust, Inc./CN=RapidSSL CA': Unable to locally verify the issuer's authority. I am not 100 sure why this is as all issuer is OK, all items are secure and I get a padlock on all browsers. Can any one shed some light on this?

• scp stalls and ssh sessions freeze up (but eventually start again)

  I am running ubuntu on various computers on a home network. Some are on 9.04x64, some 10.04x64 and one 9.04x32. Running scp with a large file starts out at 2.1 mbps and drops down to about 200k, stalling and dropping until the transfer is complete. I've noticed this when I have a secure shell open on any of these servers as well. I have tried this with 2 different routers, both brand new, different brands.

  As you might know sandboxing software doesn't work in 64bit Windows due to patchguard. What are the alternatives for a person looking to test untrusted / temporary software? Edit: @Nick I'd prefer an alternative to VMs as I'm not happy with the extended startup time, the extra login sequences and the memory overhead that accompanies booting a VM solution to test something out ocassionally as a home user. Also it's another system that needs to be kept secure and up to date.

  I'm looking at using ConfigServer Security and Firewall (CSF; iptables-based). After I configure it properly, how much daily ongoing management is required of me to keep my server secure? Am I going to be flooded with "alert" emails that I need to check? Or does the firewall automatically take care of most security threats for me? • nginx rule to capture header and append value as query string

  I have an interesting problem I need to solve in nginx: one of the sites I'm building receives inbound traffic on port 80 (and only port 80) which may have a certain header set in the request. If this header is present I need to capture the value of it and append that as a querystring parameter before doing a temporary redirect (rewrite) to a different (secure) server, while passing the paramater and any other querystring params along.   I'm looking at allowing internet access for only a few scattered users on a school network. One method I'm considering is using 802.1x authentication for the modem. Of course there are simpler options like only allowing specific IP or mac addresses, but policy requires something more secure than this. So, are there any modems with 802.1x wired authentication? • Autoscaling EC2 with NFS mounts

  I'm trying to set up a shared filesystem on EC2 and I've read tutorials such as this: http://blog.ronaldmccollam.com/2012/07/configuring-nfs-on-ubuntu-in-amazon-ec2.html In step 2 it talks about configuring the exports, for this I need an IP range but when I'm auto-scaling I can't predict what the IP will be before it scales.
