• Stats on programming languages usage

  I'm doing some research for a project and I'm trying to find out what are the 5 most-used server-side languages. I found this chart (http://i.stack.imgur.com/vPXgR.jpg) on css-tricks.com (produced from a poll the site owner ran), but in the comments, some suggested that the poll may be skewed in favor of php because most of the site visitors are designers. I'm not sure if this chart looks realistic. Does anyone know of similar stats?

  Possible Duplicate: How closely can a game resemble another game without legal problems I want make a game similar to Pocket Tanks but for Android and then sell it. Since I am not directly copying anything from Pocket Tanks, but simply using it to give me ideas, I should be allowed to make it. • Best approach to creating self-updating content - i.e. chat rooms, shoutboxes and so on

  The only way I can think of to have a shoutbox or similar element update itself when somebody posts a new 'shout' and it needs to be loaded in everyone else's browsers is to have Javascript check every x seconds for any updates... This could get a bit resource intensive though I expect if many people were to leave their browsers open on the page, idling. Is this the only way or am I missing something? I've prefer to stick to only html, css, javascript (AJAX) and php.

• How do I downgrade rhythmbox v2.98?

  I've been testing out the new WebUpd8 PPA for Rhythmbox which I used to upgrade from Rhythmbox v2.97 to v2.98. However, when I added this PPA, when using my favourite plugins replaygain and coverart-browser, Rhythmbox crashes with a segmentation fault. Worse, when this crash happens, my Unity desktop becomes unstable, with various applications failing to start with similar segmentation faults. Does anybody know the reason for this - but more importantly how to resolve this?

  Ubuntu 12.04 Nvidia GTX 550-Ti x-swat Nvidia driver Problem: Using 2 monitors. When screen locks there is a blue box on top of the wallpaper and password dialog box that hides the field for entering your password or switching users. Problem is on 2 systems with similar hardware (Nvidia card, x-swat driver, dual monitors) You can still type your password in blindly and hit enter to login but it's irritating to not be able to see the dialog box.

• Upgraded from 10.04 to 12.04, how can I make Thunderbird marks the indicators envelope blue?

  Upgraded from 10.04 to 12.04 now I don't have notifications on incoming email to Thunderbird on the indicator bar, neither when thunderbird is running nor when it's not. None of the other similar questions answers have helped me. Still no blue envelope. I DO get a notification when the email comes as a temporary OSD, ut the envelope in the indicators menu does not get blue and there is no line for received email under "Mail" althougth it is working for Google Mail.

• Landscape-like tool to distribute security upgrades to OS?

  i'm looking for an alternative to Landscape, Spacewalk (for RHEL), or CTL to perform a specific job. I need to control and apply OS upgrades on ubuntu systems, for 100+ servers, and so far i wasn't that lucky. I've tried Approx tool (similar to apt-proxy), but it just caches the content, and what i really need to do is set update milestones, apply the upgrades to QA servers, validate, then Stage environment, and so on to Production. I hope I was clear enough, any answer will be much appreciated.

• Should I use the ATI proprietary or free drivers with two Crossfire HD5850s?

  I own 2 XFX Radeon HD 5850 in crossfire configuration connected to 3 24" monitors. I really want to make Ubuntu my daily OS but can't seem to find the best configuration to use. Some threads say that the free driver is better then the ATI one and some say the new Catalyst fully takes advantage of the card capabilities. Anyone out there with a similar setup?   I want to split a texture into variously shaped pieces with libgdx, like the pieces of a puzzle game. TextureRegion.split() is not an option, as it splits into equally sized rectangular texture regions. The "Similar Questions" section here is helpful (particularly this question How do I break an image into 6 or 8 pieces of different shapes?), but I'm not sure yet if it's possible to implement the solution with libgdx. Any pointers?

• What are the names of default indicators in Ubuntu 11.10?

  How are they called? It is useful for configuring them via dconf, reporting bugs and so on but hard to find out. I remember there was similar wuestion for 11:04 but cannot find it. These are the indicators on my system: There are ten, the last one on the left is Tomboy, the rest is more or less default (the second from the left is displayed only if more than one keybord layout is used). What are their names?
