• How to identify which website on my instance is receiving lots of traffic?

  I am new to server administration and have just setup a new quad core instance which hosts around 15 websites. Over the past couple of days my server load has been averaging at around 15.00. I believe it is because of one (or maybe more) websites are getting spammed by spambots. Typing 'top' at the command line shows many processes from user 'www-data' which indicates lots of web traffic. Is there an easy way identify which one of my sites is taking a hammering? Reading the apache error logs is a very difficult tasks as most of the websites receive daily traffic of 10,000 + unique users. Any help would be appreciated!

• Unexpected key-value behavior in a Core Data Context

  If I create an array of strings (via key-value coding) containing the names of a Managed Object entity's attributes which are stored in the App Delegate the first time, I get an array of NSStrings without any problems. If I subsequently make the same call later from the same entry point in code, that same collection becomes an array of NULL objects- even though nothing in the Core Data Context has changed. • UIPickerView and empty core data array

  I have a viewcontroller showing items from a core data entity. I also have a tableview listing records from the same entity. The table is editable, and the user could remove all the records. When this happens, the view controller holding the pickerview bombs because it's looking for records in an empty array. How to prevent this? • Transfer Core Data from One Project to Another

  The answer is probably a resounding 'NO' but before I start a new project from scratch, I thought I'd ask. I create many throw away projects to test ideas and code before combining all the successful bits from the scratch projects into a final version. So I have one project with the Core Data stuff worked out but I want to move it to a new project. My guess is that there is too many internal hooks and dropping in the .xcdatamodel and the sqlite db is just not going to work. I'd glad to be wrong...

• Draw rectangle using Core Graphics with live preview

  I'm creating a simple drawing application and would like some help with drawing rectangles based on the user's touch events. I'm able to draw a rectangle using Core Graphics from the point in touchesBegan to the point in touchesEnded. This rectangle is then displayed once the touchesEnded event is fired. However, I would like to be able to do this in a 'live' fashion. Meaning, the rectangle is updated as the user drags their finger. Is this possible? Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you!

  I'm writing iphone app that has UITableView and uses Core Data. Data in UITableView is shown using NSFetchedResultsController. I use NSPredicate operator "IN" to fetch only needed entries. NSArray *filterArray = [NSArray arrayWithObjects:@"789", @"963", @"445", @"198", nil]; NSPredicate *predicate = [NSPredicate predicateWithFormat:@"id IN %@", filterArray]; Now the problem is that I need to show entries in same sequence they are in filterArray. How can I do it? How I can create NSSortDescriptor that would sort all entries in that way? I tried without sort descriptor, but I get error that NSFetchedResultsController needs sortDescriptor to be set.

  I have a core data model that has a one to many relationship, there is a category, and it can contain many subcategories. Category <---- Subcategory I am trying to perform a fetch that checks if a particular Category contains a Subcategory with a particular name. Let's say I have two categories below, I want to fetch to see if there are any subcategories name "Apple" in the Category named "Fruits". • Core Data No Longer Updating Sqlite Schema

  I am using core data for my app and I never had any problems adding or removing columns until recently. But now even if I make changes to my xcdatamodel and generate new and updated entity h/m files, sqlite doesn't seem to be picking up the changes. I actually went over to the documents folder and inspected the create statement for the relevant tables in sqlite3 and I was able to confirm that the columns I added were missing. I removed and redeployed the app several times to no avail. Is it possible to do something to the app to make it disregard any schema changes being made through xcdatamodel? I guess another thing I should mention is I recently started putting my entire projects folder in CVS so I wonder if something got messed up in the checkin and check out process.

  I have been following the answer of this question: How to update existing object in core data? and in the answer it comes across this line of code to update a record within the array: Favorits* favoritsGrabbed = [results objectAtIndex:0]; Now this updates whatever is set a record 0 of the database, no matter what cell I select to edit. I am sorry but I cannot figure out how to change it into updating the cell I have selected. Starting to grow grey hairs here:-) The problem (maybe it is my mindset) is that I am required to give an integer and I am unable to find something to substitute it. Any help would be great.

  I have set up a Core Data model that includes an entity, Item with a 1-M relationship with the abstract entity Place, so that an item has many places. There are several entities with the parent set to Place. I want to set up several UI elements depending on the descendent place types. I have a loop that looks something like this: for (Place *place in item.places) { } ... but I'm not sure how to detect what type the place is, and how to cast it to the proper type so that I can access its properties. • Creating an expandable, cross-platform compatible program "core".

  Hi there. Basically the brief is relatively simple. We need to create a program core. An engine that will power all sorts of programs with a large number of distinct potential applications and deployments. The core will be an analytics and algorithmic processor which will essentially take user-specific input and output scenarios based on the information it gets, whilst recording this information for reporting. It needs to be cross platform compatible. Something that can have platform specific layers put on top which can interface with the core. It also needs to be able to be expandable, for instance, modular with developers being able to write "add-ons" or "extensions" which can alter the function of the end program and can use the core to its full extent. (For instance, a good example of what I'm looking to create is a browser. It has its main core, the web-kit engine, for instance, and then on top of this is has a platform-specific GUI and can also have add-ons and extensions which can change the behavior of the program.) Our problem is that the extensions need to interface directly with the main core and expand/alter that functionality rather than the platform specific "layer". So, given that I have no experience in this whatsoever (I have a PHP background and recently objective-c), where should I start, and is there any knowledge/wisdom you can impart on me please? Thanks for all the help and advice you can give me. :) If you need any more explanation just ask. • Getting 0x80070043 error when accessing Samba share from Windows 7

  I created a Samba share on my new Ubuntu 10.04 machine. When I try to access it from a Windows 7 client, I get network error 0x80070043 (The network path not found). However, I get this error when I click on the share in the Windows Explorer, so it seems that Windows does find the path. I already enabled NTLMv1, disabled 128bit security and made sure that NetBIOS is running. I briefly disabled the Windows firewall, it didn't make a difference. What could be the problem?

  I'm working on setting up a Cyrus 2.2 IMAP server on Ubuntu Server 9.04. If I telnet from the server itself: # telnet localhost imap I get: * OK IMAP Cyrus IMAP4 v2.2.13-Debian-2.2.13-14ubuntu3 server ready Which is what I should be seeing. If I try from another machine on the network: telnet 192.168.5.122 imap I get: telnet: Unable to connect to remote host: Connection refused To the best of my knowledge, there is no firewall running on the box. I've tried restarting the saslauthd and cyrus2.2 daemons, with no effect. What else can I try?

• Exim4 delivery to parent domain.

  I've set up an ubuntu server 9.1 system with exim4 as a relay for e-mail on my network. I've told exim that it is part of a subdomain: sub.domain.com I can test and deliver messages fine to my gmail accounts. I cannot get exim4 to sent messages to [email protected] though. The error received in the logs shows that exim thinks it should be delivering messages for domain.com to localhost instead of the actual MX for domain.com Is there an easy way to modify the debconf update-exim4.conf.conf so that is has the relay_to_domains capability?

• How can I prevent OpenVPN from clobbering local route?

  I have a local network on 192.168.1.0 with netmask 255.255.255.0. When I connect to a VPN though OpenVPN (as a client), it pushes a route for 192.168.1.0 that clobbers the existing one, making my local network inaccessible. I don't to access anything on 192.168.1.0 on the remote machine; I'd like to just ignore it, while accepting the other routes that are pushed. My client is Ubuntu 10.10. How can I skip the one offending route?

• Website running on Tomcat port 8443 will only resolve with IP address, not dns

  I recently set up a web server running tomcat 7 on Ubuntu 12.04. It is currently running on port 8080, however I just enabled SSL on port 8443. Here's my problem: For port 8080, the website is resolved with DNS: (http://www.mywebpage.com:8080) For port 8443, I can only access the website with the IP Address (http://0.0.0.0:8443). It will not work if I use the DNS name. I ultimately want to disable port 80 and use port 8443 only. Does anyone know why I cannot resolve the website on port 8443 using DNS, and how I might fix it? • Cannot run SSH or send commands to /etc/init.d/ssh

  When I attempt to execute any commands such as /etc/init.d/ssh restart or /etc/init.d/ssh start, I get no output. It just goes to the next command line (Ubuntu Hardy). I can even pass in junk parameters such as /etc/init.d/ssh asldkfjalskfdj and i get no warnings or error messages, it just goes to the next line. I can check in my processes: lsof -i :22 and don't see my ssh process. I also don't see my SSH process when i run: netstat -na --inet Any troubleshooting suggestions?

When i'm running without external displays, Gnome should use 2 Panels. When i'm using 2 external displays, Gnome should add an additional Panel to the second display. But this should of course be removed again if i detach the external displays (and restart). Can i configure this use case by using Gnome Panel-profiles? I read that there is a startup option "--profile" for gnome-panel, but i don't know how and where i could switch the profile, especially because this has to be done after recognizing the number of displays. Or can i add a general Gnome profile and switch between those profiles somehow to achieve this behavior?

  Hello, I am using a cluster of machines running on Ubuntu 10.04 LTS which are supposed to be homogeneous, but apparently they are not. In particular, I am configuring the X server on these machines, and I pushed a /etc/X11/XF86Config that includes the following section: Section "Device" Identifier "Device0" Driver "nvidia" VendorName "NVIDIA Corporation" BusID "PCI:5:0:0" EndSection The problem is that the BusID of the graphic card is PCI:5:0:0 for some machines, and PCI:3:0:0 for others. Is there a way that the X server automatically detects the appropriate Device (based on the name for instance)? Thanks,

  Hi, I'm brand new to Apache so this might be a stupid question. I've been trying to follow a few basic tutorials explaining how to get Apache up and running (on ubuntu, running on Amazon). I've mostly come up blank, because all the tutorials told me to configure httpd.conf (to add DocumentRoot, etc.). I've now stumbled across one tutorial that told me to add site configurations to the sites-available directory (under /etc/apache), and then symlink to it from sites-enabled. Configuring this way seems to work. But now I'm confused - how am I supposed to configure Apache? Most tutorials still seem to say that I should be using httpd.conf. Which one should I be using? What's the difference? Why are all the tutorials "wrong" (if they are)? Thanks!
