• PHP/MySQL User system w/ groups.

  I have a user system set up in a 'users' table, and I have groups set up in a 'groups' table. Essentially, I want users to be able to join any and all the groups that they want, in the same was as one would on facebook. How would one go about structuring this in a mysql/php database system? Just a quick summary would be helpful! I've looked around, but I can only find info on creating 'groups' where the users just have a sort of 1, 2 or 3 permission rank. Thanks!

• Unable to execute stored Procedure using Java and JDBC on SQL server

  I have been trying to execute a MS SQL Server stored procedure via JDBC today and have been unsuccessful thus far. The stored procedure has 1 input and 1 output parameter. With every combination I use when setting up the stored procedure call in code I get an error stating that the stored procedure couldn't be found. • Increase file upload size limit in iis6

  Is there any other place besides the metabase.xml file where the file upload size can be modified? I am currently running a staging server with IIS6 and it is setup to allow uploading of files up to 20mb. This works perfectly fine. I have a new production server where I am trying to setup this same available size limit. So I edited the metabase.xml file and set it to 20971520. Then I restarted IIS and that didn't work. So I then restarted the entire server, that also didn't work. I can upload files around 2mb so it is definitely allowing file sizes larger then the standard 200kb default size. I try uploading a 5mb file and my upload.aspx page completely crashes. Is it possible there is something else I need to configure? The production server is located on a server farm, could there be some limits set on there end? Thanks

• My presentation layer does not match my model layer even though I have no animations

  On iPhone I have a CALayer that I animate via Core Animation. Then at some point I change view controllers. I then return to the view controller with the CALayer and in viewWillAppear: I set the frame and position properties on my layer to move it back to its starting point. Setting these properties changes the model layer but the presentation layer still has the old values and its presentation layer does not update until the next animation I play. In the CA Programming guide it says "You can query an instance of CALayer for its corresponding presentation layer while an animation transaction is in process." Which, to me, implies that the presentation layer should only be different from the model layer during an animation. But there are no animations currently running. I even used kCATransactionDisableActions to ensure that when I set the position property an implicit animation is not started. Does anyone know why my presentation and model layers are out of sync?   Hi. I have an app that Is supposed to play a AudioServicesPlayAlertSound(); but I've noticed on the iPod touch 1G, the sound will only play if the system sound setting is set to speaker or both. Is there a way to bypass this setting, because I know it works when the setting is not set to headphones. Also, if it is not possible, is there a way to alert the user to change this setting? I have a iPod touch 1G to test with, just incase. Wondering, HiGuy (CouleeApps)

• UIWebView finishes too fast

  I'm loading a biggish (and javascript-heavy) page into a UIWebView, and I want to add a UIActivityView to spin while it thinks. Problem is, my - (void)webViewDidFinishLoad:(UIWebView *)webView method gets called quite a while before the rendering actually happens. Enough so that my spinner (which set to hide when stopped) never actually shows up. By the time the UI is even assembled, the spinner has already been stopped and hidden, even though there's enough time to wonder if it's broken before the UIWebView actually gets the goods to the screen. I wish there was a "webViewDidFinishRendering", but that would imply that WebKit is something other than lickedy-split fast... ;-) Thoughts? Perhaps I should toss the thing up and set a timer to come stop it, and unhook that from anything that's actually happening in the WebView?

• Weird IIS7 http redirection behavior

  I have a web server running Windows Server 2008 with IIS7. I have a bunch of websites which are all bound to the same IP address, but with different host header values. Most of the host headers are something like www.sitename.com. I also have a corresponding website entry for each which listens for the host "sitename.com" and does a redirect to "www.sitename.com" within IIS7 (to cater for non-www requests). Now this is all pretty straight forward, but I've noticed the when setting up the Http Redirection, some wierd things happen: Firstly, the "redirect" website entries must be pointed at a different physical directory than the site it's trying to redirect to, otherwise the redirection settings get set for both sites at once. Secondly, sometimes whilst setting up Http Redirection on an individual site, Http Redirection gets set at a server level, and all sites start redirecting to that one URL. How does this happen? Under what circumstances could setting Http Redirection on an individual site affect all sites? This is scary!!!

• Android ScrollView jumps around when setting child visibility to View.GONE

  I have a ScrollView that contains an number of other views (TextViews, ImageViews, etc.). The ScrollView is taller than the screen. I have an AsyncTask that updates the children of the ScrollView based on an http response. I've discovered an interesting behavior that I can't figure out how to work around. If I set any of the children's visibilities to View.INVISIBLE as part of the AsyncTask.onPostExecute(), everything works fine. However, if I set any of the children's visibilities to View.GONE, the ScrollView jumps down from the top when onPostExecute() is called. Exactly how far seems to vary. I'm guessing that re-laying out the ScrollView is causing it to scroll away from the top for some reason. So the question is: is there a way to either prevent or work around this behavior? PS. Using ScrollView.jump(FOCUS_UP) as a workaround isn't ideal since that'll force the user to the top even if they had intended to scroll down.

  I have the following Access query I'm running through OLE DB in .NET: SELECT TOP 25 tblClient.ClientCode, tblRegion.Region FROM (tblClient LEFT OUTER JOIN tblRegion ON tblClient.RegionCode = tblRegion.RegionCode) ORDER BY tblRegion.Region There are 431 records within tblClient that have RegionCode set to NULL. For some reason, the query above returns all these 431 records instead of the first 25. If I change the query to ORDER BY tblClient.Client (the name of the client) like so: SELECT TOP 25 tblClient.ClientCode, tblRegion.Region FROM (tblClient LEFT OUTER JOIN tblRegion ON tblClient.RegionCode = tblRegion.RegionCode) ORDER BY tblClient.Client I get the expected result set of 25 records, showing a mixture of region names and NULL values. Why is it that ordering by a field retrieved through a LEFT OUTER JOIN will the TOP clause not work?

I've tried the following: set the focus from JavaScript (in this case the onFocus JS event will fire but the keyboard won't show up) [webView becomeFirstresponder] (returns NO) set the first subview of the webView to be the firstResponder (returns NO) subclass UIWebView to return YES to canBecomeFirstResponder: (nothing happens) I'm trying to find the solution since yesterday but I couldn't find it.   I'm trying to parameterise a search query that uses the LIKE keyword with a wildcard. The original sql has dynamic sql like this: "AND JOB_POSTCODE LIKE '" + isPostCode + "%' " So I've tried this instead, but I get a FormatException: "AND JOB_POSTCODE LIKE @postcode + '%' " Edit: I guess the FormatException isn't going to be coming from Sql Server CE, so as requested, here is how I set the parameter in my C# code. The parameter is set in code like this: command.Parameters.Add("@postcode", SqlDbType.NVarChar).Value = isPostCode; I also tried: "AND JOB_POSTCODE LIKE @postcode" with command.Parameters.Add("@postcode", SqlDbType.NVarChar).Value = isPostCode + "%"; but that doesn't return any results. Can anyone advise how to use parameters in this search sql?

  I've done some searching, but can't seem to find a way to do this. We'd like to proactively monitor our permgen space via JMX. It seems the best way to do this is through the UsageThreshold attribute on the "PS Perm Gen" MemoryPool. By default, this is set to 0. Is there a way to specify this, or any JMX attribute, as a -D parameter to VM so this can be set automatically at startup? Or is there another mechanism to load JMX attributes automatically? Thanks.

  Hi I use OpenESB + BPEL. I would like to use some parameter to set system specific settings (path, string constants, etc.). I tried to use a properties file that a simple java class should read up and use with this method (http://wiki.open-esb.java.net/Wiki.jsp?page=BPELSEHowToCallJavaMethods). The problem is that I can't create properties file in BPEL project (not supported). So I created a file by hand. • Why does my NSWindow only receive mouseOver events the first time?

  I have an application where a borderless window is shown and hidden, using orderOut and orderFront. When it is visible, I want the it to become the key window when the mouse moves over it. So far I've done this: In awakeFromNib I have set its first responder to itself. In the window's constructor I set accepts mouse events to YES. In the mouseMoved method, I use makeKeyAndOrderToFront. My problem is, that this only works the first time I move the mouse over the window. After that, it doesn't receive any mouseOver events. I've tried checking the firstResponder but as far as I can tell it never changes from the window. Any ideas what I can do to get this working?

  I'm running a curl request on an eXist database through php. The dataset is very large, and as a result, the database consistently takes a long amount of time to return an XML response. • PATH and CLASSPATH in Windows7 7 / Eclipse

  So I would like to set PATH and CLASSPATH system variables so I can use javac and java commands in the command line. I can just compile and run java programs in eclipse but I would also like to be able to run them through command line. This is where I have Java installed: C:\Program Files (x86)\Java jdk1.6.0_20 jre6 And this is where eclipse stores my Java projects: D:\java-projects HelloWorld bin HelloWorld.class src HelloWorld.java I have set up the PATH and CLASSPATH variables like this: PATH: C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jdk1.6.0_20\bin CLASSPATH: D:\java-projects But it doesn't work. When I write: java HelloWorld Or: java HelloWorld.class I get error like this: Exception in thread “main” java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: HelloWorld The error is longer, that's just the first line. How can I fix this? I'm mainly interested to be able to run compiled .class programs from the command line, I can do compiling in the eclipse.

• Templated Control databinding to custom properties

  Is there some trick that I'm missing here? I've created a templated control, very simple. One single property on it, and I'd like to databind from the (viewmodel/datacontext of the) page in which it's hosted to a custom property on the control. The property will eventually be a vector type object, defining the position of the control, however in an attempt to get this to work I've tried reducing it to a basic string property. Each time I'm faced with "Set property 'SimpleGame.Classes.Sprite.Property' threw an exception.". I can't even catch the exception in a debug session, the set property code is not being executed. Do I need to use a dependency / attached property or something? I wouldn't have thought so...
