  • Porting Django's templates engine to C

    Hi folks, I recently wrote a simple and tiny embedded HTTP server for my C++ app (QT) and I played a little bit with Ry's http-parser and loved it. This guy is crazy. So I told to myself: "Hey! Why not port the django template engine to C?" That'd be awesome! I know, it won't be an easy task (not at all, I know) but I'd really love to implement this. So I came here for inspiration, ideas, opinions... I'd really love to have some pointers on the subject, ideas, what is already done, which major problems I'll encounter (and how to solve them) - How not to reinvent the wheel... anyway, you got the idea :) Thanks a million times! P.S. Simple code snippets, and links to tools and libs are very welcome! P.P.S. I'm already aware of grantlee, I took a look into its sources. Well... that's C++ and its specific to Qt.

  • Error calling webservice from JQuery

    I have a strange problem when I'm trying to call a simple webservice method from Jquery. Locally it works fine, but on my test-server it does not. The jquery request looks like this (only showing the actual request and not the rest of the method): $.ajax({ type: "POST", url: "/Service/Service.asmx/AddTab", data: "tab=" + element.innerHTML, success: function(msg) { alert('success'); } }); When I run this locally from the test-server it works fine, which has me wondering if it could be some setting that I've missed in the IIS. If I navigate to the .asmx file and click the AddTab method I get a list of SOAP 1.1 and SOAP 1.2 XML, but not the HTTP POST request. If I navigate to it locally I get all three (SOAP 1.1, SOAP 1.2 and HTTP Post) The service is set up as follows: [WebService(Namespace = "mynamespace")] [WebServiceBinding(ConformsTo = WsiProfiles.BasicProfile1_1)] [System.ComponentModel.ToolboxItem(false)] [ScriptService()] public class Service : System.Web.Services.WebService { [WebMethod(EnableSession=true)] [ScriptMethod()] public void AddTab(string tab) { //Some code to add a tab which evidently works locally... } } Anyone have a clue what I'm missing here?

    I am using this plugin in wordpress http://www.iwebix.de/front-slider-wordpress-plugin-demo/ As you can see in the demo above, the left and right arrow buttons are the controls for scrolling the thumbnails and the event is onmouseover and onmouseout. I don't know how to change this to onclick instead so that the thumbnails will scroll left and right only when the buttons are clicked. Any help or ideas on how to do this? Thanks!     I just installed VS2010 and the great new IronPython Tools extension. Currently this extension doesn't yet generate event handlers in code upon double-clicking wpf visual controls. Is there anyone that can provide or point me to an example as to how to code wpf event handlers manually in python. I've had no luck finding any and I am new to visual studio.   • Can't read query string if default index file name is omitted?

    Is there an issue with IIS or ASP Classic where *Request.ServerVariables("QUERY_STRING")* returns blank if no default file name is given in the URL? On my local developer machine, I can do http://localhost/xslt/?opcs/abc which returns "opcs/abc". However, on our ancient web server, it returns nothing. I have to explicitly give it the default file name in the URL. Like so http://localhost/xslt/default.asp?opcs/abc While nothing too major, it is a little bit of a annoyance. One way I can maybe think of remidying the problem is have Javascript read the URL and return everything after the ?. Unfortunately, I do not know what version of IIS or ASP we are using. Thank you.

    I set up facebooker to tunnel my Ruby on Rails application. The issue is that I would like to test locally. That is, I don't want to have to start a tunnel every time I want to see my changes. Right now, when I start the application using ruby script/server (not calling rake facebooker:tunnel:background_start beforehand), links created by helpers (e.g., stylesheet_link_tag, javascript_include_tag, image_tag) are prepended with my tunnlr address: http://web1.tunnlr.com:myPort/. (For example, a CSS link looks like this in the page source: http://web1.tunnlr.com:myPort//stylesheets/appName.css?1234567890.) I don't want that functionality; I can't see my CSS or JavaScript changes without having to start the tunnel first. I want the links to be relative, not absolute. So, stylesheet_link_tag should produce /stylesheets/appName.css?1234567890. Does anyone know why it's doing that in the first place and how to fix it? Thanks in advance.

    Anyone knows the steps to run Apache on server A as front end and run mod_proxy_ajp to connect to tomcat instances on server B? I want to run apache on sever A to do name based vhost that connects to many tomcat servers. I can run mod_proxy_ajp, only if apache and tomcat are on the same server.     Hello everyone, i am trying to write a restful google app engine application (python) that accepts requests only from another GAE that i wrote. I dont like any of the ways that i thought of to get this done, please advice if you know of something better than: Get SSL setup, and simply add the credentials on the request that my consuming app will send. I dont like it cause SSL will slow things down. Security by obsecurity. Pass a long number by my consuming app that is in Xmod0, where X is a secret number that both applications know. I just,,,, dont like this. Check the HTTP header to see where is the request coming from. This option is the one that i hate the least, not alot of processing, and spoofing an HTTP request is not really worth it, for my application's data. Is there any other clean solution for this?

    I'm having hard time getting my head wrapped around this one - and it should be trivial. I would like to redirect one URL with a specific query string to another URL. I want to send any requests that contain the query string in the URL http://mysite.com/index.php?option=com_user&view=register To: http://mysite.com/index.php?option=com_regme&view=form&regme=4&random=0&Itemid=6 If they add anything to the end of the first URL, it should still go to the second URL so that they cannot bypass the redirection. Nothing in the first query string needs to be preserved and passed to the second - all I want to do is change the URL completely. I'm tearing my hair out trying to get this to work yet it should be trivial. Suggestions? Thanks, -Tim

Sometimes, I get html of an img: <img style="cursor: -moz-zoom-in;" alt="http://<myapp>.appspot.com/servePic?blob-key=abcdef" src="http://<myapp>.appspot.com/servePic?blob-abcdef" height="1" width="1"> Sometimes I get the image data in bytes. Behavior varies on I dunno what. I get the first in development, and the second in production. Does anyone know anything about this?

    I am in the process of developing a widget. If the user changes tabs quickly the widget gets behing and bogged down. This causes the tabs to to not align with the data being displayed and just general lag. I believe that this is because the tab is being changed before $.load() is finished. I have tried to implement the following: ("#tabs li a").click(function() { $("#tabs li.active").removeClass("active"); $("#tab_content").load($(this).attr('href'), function (){ $(this).parent().addClass("active"); }); return false; }); It is my understanding that the callback function within in the load function does not execute until the load function is completed. I think this would solve my problem, however I can not come up with a way to select the correct tab that was clicked within the callback function. If this is not the way to do this then what is the best way implement these tabs so that they would stop loading an old request and load the newest tab selection by the user? Thanks

    This started with weird behaviour that I thought was tied to my implementation of ToString(), and I asked this question: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2916068/why-wont-wpf-databindings-show-text-when-tostring-has-a-collaborating-object It turns out to have nothing to do with collaborators and is reproducible. When I bind Label.Content to a property of the DataContext that is declared as an interface type, ToString() is called on the runtime object and the label displays the result. When I bind TextBlock.Text to the same property, ToString() is never called and nothing is displayed. But, if I change the declared property to a concrete implementation of the interface, it works as expected. Is this somehow by design? If so, any idea why?
