  • How to hide an dom element after creating it on the fly with Jquery ?

    I am trying to build a form where users can add a text field by clicking on a "add option" button. They can also remove added fields by a "remove option" link created on the fly by Jquery, along with the text field. My code looks like this : $(document).ready(function(){ $("#add_option").click(function(){ var form = $("form"); var input_field = '<input type="text" />'; var delete_link = '<a href="#">remove</a>'; form.append(input_field + delete_link); return false; }); $("a").click(function(){ alert('clicked'); return false; }); }); This code is not working : when I click on the "add_option" button, a new text field and the "delete_link" appear. But when clicking on the "delete_link" created by JQuery, the browser follows the link instead of launching a pop-up displaying "clicked". Any idea ? Thanks !

  • Refactoring method that was previously injected with implement

    Greetings, I'm trying to override or extend the Element.show() and .hide() methods in mootools in order to add some WAI-Aria toggling. I was trying to use the Class.Refactor() method like this: Element = Class.refactor(Element, { show: function(displayString) { result = this.previous(displayString); // Do my thing return result; }, hide: function() { result = this.previous(); // Do my thing return result; } }); however, this is not working, previous is null and I think the reason is that Mootools injects those methods through Element.implement. So the methods are not native? I have figured out how to completely replace .show and .hide but I would like to retain all of their existing functionality and just add to it. Any ideas?

    I would like to detect the 'tab' keypress in Safari. It already works in IE and Firefox. The trigger is on keypress. Both firefox and IE return key '9' which is Tab. But Safari looks like to ignore this. Both versions 4 and 5 seem to fail in detecting it. How do i detect it?

    hi, i have a value like that var myvalue=myfunction(1,2); what I need is that GETTING myfunction(a,b) as a string.. I mean not "myfunction's value" hmmm, let me explain, myfunction(1,2) returns 1+2=3 if I type alert(myvalue) it returns 3 but I need myfunction(a,b) AS IT'S TYPED when I use alert. NOT IT'S VALUE think it like var myvalue='myfunction(a,b)' now, if i use Alert, it gives me myfunction(a,b) how can I do that?

  • Controlling a browser from Python

    I am looking for a way to control a browser from Python, i.e. fill out form fields and submit them, possibly call JS functions. I've looked around a bit, but as far as I could see PyWebKitGtk only lets you show the browser as a GUI element, not interface with it. Is there a way to do this easily? I wrote my program logic in Python, and I would hate to port it to JS. Besides that, even if I'd use pure JS "bookmarklets", those wouldn't be able to read/write to my local filesystem, would they? P.S. to quell your suspicions, I'm not trying to automatically fill out forum account creation forms or something similarly spammious, though the task is technically similar. I need to crawl/scrape sites for my research project.

  • How do i view the local database version in safari on the iphone?

    I am trying to see the localDatabase version from my iPhone in safari but it is not displaying, according to the docs i am supposed to be able to do this: var db = openDatabase('dbShortName', '', 'dbLongName', 1000); alert(db.version); and it should alert the current version number. It does not. It works in Chrome and safari for the desktop but not the iPhone. Does anybody have some idea why? My next option is to store the version in a separate table, but I would prefer to use the built in system. Thanks in advance.

  • GreaseMonkey + Ajax + Remember page?

    I load jquery into my greasemonkey script and when the user clicks the start button the script makes a bunch of ajax calls. I then empty body and append data. When i click on something and hit back instead of getting the page post script i lose all the data and need to run the ajax calls again (it can take seconds to run). How do i make it not lose the changes?

For example, there is a table <table><tr><td id="idTABLE">0</td><td>END</td></tr></table> (it can be div, span, anything) And string in JS script var str='<td>1</td><td>2</td>'; (it can be anything, '123 text', '<span123 element</span 456' or ' <tr<td123</td ' or anything) How can I replace element 'idTABLE' with str?   • improve my jquery validation plugin code

    Hi All Just hoping soemone can help me to write better code than I can come up with on my own. I am using the jquery validation plugin. I have some fields that are mandatory ONLY if certain options are chosen. The below code works fine. But the thing is, is that that my list of 'OR's is much longer than I've put here. and it needs to be applied not just to 'directorsName' but a whole long list of inputs, selects etc. My question is.. how can I wrap up the code contained inside the RETURN? (so I dont have to keep repeating my 'OR's.     I have the following jQuery code $("#dropdown").hover(function() { $(this).stop(true,true).fadeTo('fast',1); $("#options").stop(true,true).slideDown(); }, function() { $(this).delay(1000).stop(true,true).fadeTo('fast',0.1); $("#options").delay(1000).stop(true,true).slideUp(); } ); What I expect to happen is when the mouse leaves #dropdown it will wait 1 second before continuing. This is not happening. What I am trying to achieve, in case there is a better way, is to leave the drop down menu visible for a second or two after moving your mouse and I would also like to prevent the events from happening again to prevent artifacts and "funnies" if you were to move the mouse over and out from the div very quickly

  • Ideas for band site, which technology to use?

    I am attempting to design and build a website for my friends band. There is minimal content to be included such as bio,news,enbemdded Audio/Visual material. My web dev expertise is average. I'm basicaly looking for inspiration, I was edging towards embedding a silverlight deepzoom xap object to add some visual stimulation, perhaps by featuring a high res photo of the bandshardware/equipment which zooms when mouseover occurs. Does anyone have any cool ideas for a central feature for this site, and which way to approact it in terms of technique (js,css,silverlight etc) If anyone has any immediate ideas which they think would be cool then I am eager to hear them! Also if anyone can link me to any cool band sites they have come across recently I would be greatful,nothing too complicated though please I will be doing all the work myself. Im want the site to be simple but have a certain wow factor!
