How to simulating two client-controlled vehicles colliding (sensibly) in a typical client/server setup for a network game? I did read this eminent blog post on how to do distributed network physics in general (without traditional client prediction), but this question is specifically on how to handle collisions of owned objects. Example Say client A is 20 ms ahead of server, client B 300 ms ahead of server (counting both latency and maximum jitter). This means that when the two vehicles collide, both clients will see the other as 320 ms behind - in the opposite direction of the velocity of the other vehicle. Head-to-head on a Swedish highway means a difference of 16 meters/17.5 yards! What not to try It is virtually impossible to extrapolate the positions, since I also have very complex vehicles with joints and bodies all over, which in turn have linear and angular positions, velocities and accelerations, not to mention states from user input.

I am having trouble storing a double in the phone's memory. What are my other options if this isnt possible. Basically what the code is aiming to do using sharedprefrences is take the stored value of "Alcohol" spending and then add whatever the input is in the editText to it and then store that new value for the next time. how does selenium webdriver upload files to the browser?

I am a javascript/java developer and I have been trying to figure out how the selenium webdriver automation framework uploads files from the file system. It is impossible to set a file input via javascript because it is a security violation. Yet somehow webdriver is able to do this with the following command: driver.setFileDetector(new LocalFileDetector()); WebElement upload = driver.findElement(By.id("myfile")); upload.sendKeys("/Users/sso/the/local/path/to/darkbulb.jpg"); driver.findElement(By.id("submit")).click(); So they are setting the value by sending keys to it? I don't get it. I have looked through the source code found here: http://code.google.com/p/selenium/source/checkout I am still not able to find where they do this. Edit: My question is not how to do this with selenium, but how did the selenium developers make this possible? How did they get around the security restrictions in javascript? How are they uploading the file?

Interesting XSL Dilemma

I've got this issue. A template called "checkbox" that's called from while inside a table HTML element and also outside of it. To solve an issue, I've added tags to "checkbox" input control. Here's what I'd like to do to but I'm not sure if it's possible or not. When I hit my "row" (part of the custom table markup) template, I would set some variable or pass some parameter, that for each template applied afterwards, would know it was in a "row" and do something special based on this information. I know I can't add parameters to apply-templates. I may be able to add a row "mode" but I can't make changes to each template and have one copy with the mod parameter and one without. Thanks for any suggestions. I know the ideal solution would to be to make changes to the XML but I'm not sure if I can do that as this point. That's a "content" issue. :P Thanks!

I am building a webpage using PHP to search within my database. I am able to do a query and get the data to show on my page. I also have a picture that is related to each record. Let's say something like a picture ID for each employee. I am wondering what is the best way to store and retrieve pictures in order to get it show using PHP. Is there a way to store all the pictures in the subfolder like " image" and retrieve the pictures using PHP? I tried to search around on the internet, but I get confused. Also, when I type something in the search box and click the button, is there a way to keep the input in the search box without erasing it? Thank you very much.

Now I am trying to get the parameter called here: value=\""+object.getIdDailyTimeSheet() in my servlet to do an update query based on the IdDailyTimeSheet. I didn't untill know find the way to get this value every time i click the edit button (i do its submit with the javascript). thanks for help.

I have a simple array: arr = ["apples", "bananas", "coconuts", "watermelons"] I also have a function f that will perform an operation on a single string input and return a value. This operation is very expensive, so I would like to memoize the results in the hash. I know I can make the desired hash with something like this: h = {} arr.each { |a| h[a] = f(a) } What I'd like to do is not have to initialize h, so that I can just write something like this: h = arr.(???) { |a| a => f(a) } Can that be done?

Can I preload multiple video resources to load in the same HTML5 <video> element?

I'm working out details on a web application which involves the sequential loading of a long series of (very short) video clips, one after the other, with occasional input from the user establishing new directions for which video clips to load. I would like to be able to have the browser preload the video clips five at a time. However, the way that we currently have the site working is by means of a single video element which is having its src attribute continually updated through JavaScript. So, my question is, is there a straightforward way I can get the browser to preload multiple video clips even though I am ultimately loading them all (one at a time) into the same video element? This is my first question here, so let me know if I could have phrased that better...

How can I write a function using template specialization that has 2 different input types and an output type: template <class input1, class input2, class output> and return the sum of the 2 numbers (integers/doubles). However, if I get 2 integers I want to return an integer type but for any other combinations of integer and double I'll always return double. Possibly simple PHP/MYSQL issue with retrieving and showing data

I have been racking my brains over this for a while now. Here is the data i have in the sql data base as an example: ID | TYPE | DATA 1 | TXT | TEST 2 | PHP | php 3 | JS | JAVASCRIPT That is just an example, there are multiple listing for TXT, PHP and JS throughout the table. What I want to do is retrive all the data and display it all into separate drop down/select boxes. Meaning, select box one would list all data with type TXT, select box two would list all data with type PHP and select box 3 would list all data with type JS. The only way I have came about doing this is doing individual sql queries for each different type. I know there is a way to do it all in 1 query and then display it the way I want to but I just can't seem to figure out how and I know its going to drive me nuts when someone helps and I see just how they did it. Fake Mouse (C# or C++)

I need a way to fake that a mouse is connected. The problem: My HTPC (Windows 8) has no mouse connected and I wrote a program to simulate mouse input using my Xbox 360 Controller. This works just fine, the only problem is, that there is no cursor visible (I can move it, but I cant see it). My guess is, that Windows doesn't show a cursor when there is no mouse connected, so I need a way to pretend that a mouse is connected to the PC. Of course, if you know another way to make the cursor visible I would gladly take this solution as well. Regards, Hidden

I am developing a project in asp.net web forms. I have a little problem. Whent the page load, I load some data from the dabase and present it on the page. On the same page I have form where I can input some textobox and with the click on the button make update on the same data in the database whis is at the first time loaded on the same page? The date is update, I can see it in SQL SERVER, but on the web page not. Its still the old data presents. After I close my application and run it again, then the new data appears on the page.

What is the best way for the application to refer to the user?

Forgive my noobishness, first time poster on stackoverflow! I can have the application read: "view your messages" "view my messages" "edit your profile" "edit my profile" etc. and others like that. Is one of these more correct then the other? I suppose that I could use neither and just leave it without any pronoun, but I would rather not. The person grading is a real stickler for "grammar" in code. Any input would be appreciated!

Does jquery require timestamp on GET Calls in IE7?

So added the timestamp: new Date().getTime() part. That fixed the IE issue. I want o know why this happens in jQuery? Do I need to include a timestamp parameter to URL to avoid caching in all jQuery Ajax calls?

Adding my own items to Long Click on Text Box menu on android

Hi all, I am currently developing an application for android. I'm not sure if this is possible but here it goes. When the user clicks and holds on a text box whether it is a website or a piece of software a menu is displayed which shows paste and input method. What I want to be able to do is add my own items to this menu and when the user clicks on my item it will load my app, they can select an item from a list view. It will then copy the contents and automatically paste it into the text field the user selected. Thanks for your help in this matter

Locking a detail view if a user is editing the item...

Hi All I am developing a user manager which must control access to the detail view of editable items. At present, when a user clicks 'edit', the application queries the link table to check if a user is currently editing that page, if not, it allows access to the page and then inserts a record into the link table preventing another user from editing the same page at the same time. My question is what would the best way to handle the removal of records if say a user exists the browser without saving etc, therefore no action to remove the record. Is there a way to delete a form element without using jQuery .remove()?

Using .remove() so that the select all check box is not submitted to the server. However, it is visible to the user as the select all checkbox is "physically" removed from the web page, upon submit. Instead, I would like removing the select all check box to appear seamless but NOT on the server side. i.e. - I would like to keep the input on the page but remove the element in the form array before it is sent. Can I manipulate the element[] array of the form before it is sent to the server and delete it there? Thank you.
