• How do I preserve installed applications when migrating Ubuntu to another platform?

  I'm looking at maybe moving from an older AMD64 to a new Intel dual-core which is 32 bit. Installation isn't a problem but can I transfer all the installed apps? I haven't been able to find anything so far on Google except where the migration is to a similar platform and file-system. I won't change the filesystem but the platform will be different. Is there something on the lines of the "World" file in Gentoo?

• How can I match a partial data set with a full one in a spreadsheet?

  I have a spreadsheet (in Google Docs, but can be any spreadsheet) with a list of users (one per row), including a username (and other columns). Lets say there are 'n' rows. I have another spreadsheet with less than 'n' rows. One column has a username, another column has some other piece of data (lets say car rego number). I've searched for a while on google, and can't find anything except for people having similar problems, but no solution.

• Android TimePicker hour field disappears after orientation change

  I am using a TimePicker under API 1.5 and when the orientation is changed on my device (a stock G1 running 1.6 - though NOT on the 1.5/1.6 emulator), the hour field goes blank. It still remembers the hour, it just doesn't show it. Is there any workaround for this? The problem is that the API returns a dictionary if there is an error but returns an array of the results if it works. Is there a good way to detect if the JSONValue is an array or a dictionary?   I can compile DLLs properly using mingw and do the exports/imports stuff. What I am looking for is defining the dll onload function properly as you would in MS VC products.
