  • MS Access 2003 - Formatting results in a list box problem.

    - by Justin
    So I have a list box that displays averages in a table like format from a crossyab query. It's just what I need the query is right, there is just one thing. I had to set the field properties in the query as format: standard..decimal:2. Which is exactly what I needed. However..the list box will not pick up on this. First I typed the crosstab sql into the list box's properties....and then I ran into this problem. So then I actually just created the query object, saved it and set that as the rowsource for the list box. Still won't work....when I open the query it is the correct format. So is there a way to further format a text box? Is there a way tell it to limit decimal places to one or two on returned values? Thanks!

  • Querying a Single Column with LINQ

    - by Hossein Margani
    Hi Every one! I want to fetch array of values of a single column in a table, for example, I have a table named Customer(ID,Name), and want to fetch ids of all customers. my query in LINQ is: var ids = db.Customers.Select(c=>c.ID).ToList(); The answer of this query is correct, but I ran SQL Server Profiler, and saw the query which was like this: SELECT [t0].[ID], [t0].[Name] FROM [dbo].[Customer] AS [t0] I understood that LINQ selects all columns and then creates the integer array of ID fields. How can I write a LINQ query which generates this query in SQL Server: SELECT [t0].[ID] FROM [dbo].[Customer] AS [t0] Thank you.

  • JQuery and WCF - GET Method passes null

    - by user70192
    Hello, I have a WCF service that accepts requests from JQuery. Currently, I can access this service. However, the parameter value is always null. Here is my WCF Service definition: [OperationContract] [WebInvoke(Method = "GET", BodyStyle = WebMessageBodyStyle.WrappedRequest, RequestFormat = WebMessageFormat.Json, ResponseFormat = WebMessageFormat.Json)] public string ExecuteQuery(string query) { // NOTE: I get here, but the query parameter is always null string results = Engine.ExecuteQuery(query); return results; } Here is my JQuery call: var searchUrl = "/services/myService.svc/ExecuteQuery"; var json = { "query": eval("\"test query\"") }; alert(json2string(json)); // Everything is correct here if (json != null) { $.ajax({ type: "GET", url: searchUrl, contentType: "application/json; charset=utf-8", data: json2string(json), dataType: "json" }); } What am I doing wrong? It seems odd that I can call the service but the parameter is always null. Thank you

  • problems with unpickling a 80 megabyte file in python

    - by tipu
    I am using the pickle module to read and write large amounts of data to a file. After writing to the file a 80 megabyte pickled file, I load it in a SocketServer using class MyTCPHandler(SocketServer.BaseRequestHandler): def handle(self): print("in handle") words_file_handler = open('/home/tipu/Dropbox/dev/workspace/search/words.db', 'rb') words = pickle.load(words_file_handler) tweets = shelve.open('/home/tipu/Dropbox/dev/workspace/search/tweets.db', 'r'); results_per_page = 25 query_details = self.request.recv(1024).strip() query_details = eval(query_details) query = query_details["query"] page = int(query_details["page"]) - 1 return_ = [] booleanquery = BooleanQuery(MyTCPHandler.words) if query.find("(") > -1: result = booleanquery.processAdvancedQuery(query) else: result = booleanquery.processQuery(query) result = list(result) i = 0 for tweet_id in result and i < 25: #return_.append(MyTCPHandler.tweets[str(tweet_id)]) return_.append(tweet_id) i += 1 self.request.send(str(return_)) However the file never seems to load after the pickle.load line and it eventually halts the connection attempt. Is there anything I can do to speed this up?

  • What does this do and why does it require a transaction?

  • Filter zipcodes by proximity in Django with the Spherical Law of Cosines

    - by spiffytech
    I'm trying to handle proximity search for a basic store locater in Django. Rather than haul PostGIS around with my app just so I can use GeoDjango's distance filter, I'd like to use the Spherical Law of Cosines distance formula in a model query. I'd like all of the calculations to be done in the database in one query, for efficiency. An example MySQL query from The Internet implementing the Spherical Law of Cosines like this: SELECT id, ( 3959 * acos( cos( radians(37) ) * cos( radians( lat ) ) * cos( radians( lng ) - radians(-122) ) + sin( radians(37) ) * sin( radians( lat ) ) ) ) AS distance FROM stores HAVING distance < 25 ORDER BY distance LIMIT 0 , 20; The query needs to reference the Zipcode ForeignKey for each store's lat/lng values. How can I make all of this work in a Django model query?

  • Linq to NHibernate using Queryable.Where predicate

    - by Groo
    I am querying an SQLite database using LINQ to NHibernate. Person is an entity containing an Id and a Name: public class Person { public Guid Id { get; private set; } public string Name { get; private set; } } Let's say my db table contains a single person whose name is "John". This test works as expected: var query = from item in session.Linq<Person>() where (item.Name == "Mike") select item; // no such entity should exist Assert.IsFalse(query.Any()); but this one fails: var query = from item in session.Linq<Person>() select item; query.Where(item => item.Name == "Mike"); // following line actually returns the // "John" entry Assert.IsFalse(query.Any()); What am I missing?

  • Help me understand Rails eager loading

    - by aaronrussell
    I'm a little confused as to the mechanics of eager loading in active record. Lets say a Book model has many Pages and I fetch a book using this query: @book = Book.find book_id, :include => :pages Now this where I'm confused. My understanding is that @book.pages is already loaded and won't execute another query. But suppose I want to find a specific page, what would I do? @book.pages.find page_id # OR... @book.pages.to_ary.find{|p| p.id == page_id} Am I right in thinking that the first example will execute another query, and therefore making the eager loading pointless, or is active record clever enough to know that it doesn't need to do another query? Also, my second question, is there an argument that in some cases eager loading is more intensive on the database and sometimes multiple small queries will be more efficient that a single large query? Thanks for your thoughts.

  • Forked Function not assigning pointer

    - by Luke Mcneice
    In the code below I have a function int GetTempString(char Query[]); calling it in main works fine. However, when calling the function from a fork the fork hangs (stops running, no errors, no output) before this line: pch = strtok (Query," ,"); the printf shows that the pointer to pch is null. Again this only happens when the fork is executing it. What am I doing doing wrong? int main() { if((Timer =fork())==-1) printf("Timer Fork Failed"); else if(Timer==0) { while(1) { sleep(2); GetTempString("ch 1,2,3,4"); } } else { //CODE GetTempString("ch 1,2,3,4"); } } int GetTempString(char Query[]) { char * pch; printf("DEBUG: '%s'-'%d'\n",Query,pch); pch = strtok (Query," ,");//* PROBLEM HERE* //while loop for strtok... return 1; }

  • having trouble with jpa, looks to be reading from cache when told to ignore

    - by jeff
    i'm using jpa and eclipselink. it says version 2.0.2.v20100323-r6872 for eclipselink. it's an SE application, small. local persistence unit. i am using a postgres database. i have some code the wakes up once per second and does a jpa query on a table. it's polling to see whether some fields on a given record change. but when i update a field in sql, it keeps showing the same value each time i query it. and this is after waiting, creating a new entitymanager, and giving a query hint. when i query the table from sql or python, i can see the changed field. but from within my jpa query, once i've read the value, it never changes in later executions of the query -- even though the entity manager has been recreated. i've tried telling it to not look in the cache. but it seems to ignore that. very puzzling, can you help please? here is the method. i call this once every 3 seconds. the tgt.getTrlDlrs() println shows me i get the same value for this field on every call of the method ("value won't change"). even if i change the field in the database. when i query the record from outside java, i see the change right away. also, if i stop the java program and restart it, i see the new value printed out immediately: public void exitChk(EntityManagerFactory emf, Main_1 mn){ // this will be a list of the trade close targets that are active List<Pairs01Tradeclosetgt> mn_res = new ArrayList<Pairs01Tradeclosetgt>(); //this is a list of the place number in the array list above //of positions to close ArrayList<Integer> idxsToCl = new ArrayList<Integer>(); EntityManager em = emf.createEntityManager(); em.getTransaction().begin(); em.clear(); String qryTxt = "SELECT p FROM Pairs01Tradeclosetgt p WHERE p.isClosed = :isClosed AND p.isFilled = :isFilled"; Query qMn = em.createQuery(qryTxt); qMn.setHint(QueryHints.CACHE_USAGE, CacheUsage.DoNotCheckCache); qMn.setParameter("isClosed", false); qMn.setParameter("isFilled", true); mn_res = (List<Pairs01Tradeclosetgt>) qMn.getResultList(); // are there any trade close targets we need to check for closing? if (mn_res!=null){ //if yes, see whether they've hit their target for (int i=0;i<mn_res.size();i++){ Pairs01Tradeclosetgt tgt = new Pairs01Tradeclosetgt(); tgt = mn_res.get(i); System.out.println("value won't change:" + tgt.getTrlDlrs()); here is my entity class (partial): @Entity @Table(name = "pairs01_tradeclosetgt", catalog = "blah", schema = "public") @NamedQueries({ @NamedQuery(name = "Pairs01Tradeclosetgt.findAll", query = "SELECT p FROM Pairs01Tradeclosetgt p"), @NamedQuery(name = "Pairs01Tradeclosetgt.findByClseRatio", query = "SELECT p FROM Pairs01Tradeclosetgt p WHERE p.clseRatio = :clseRatio")}) public class Pairs01Tradeclosetgt implements Serializable { private static final long serialVersionUID = 1L; @Id @Basic(optional = false) @Column(name = "id") @SequenceGenerator(name="pairs01_tradeclosetgt_id_seq", allocationSize=1) @GeneratedValue(strategy=GenerationType.SEQUENCE, generator = "pairs01_tradeclosetgt_id_seq") private Integer id; and my persitence unit: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <persistence version="1.0" xmlns="http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/persistence" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xsi:schemaLocation="http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/persistence http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/persistence/persistence_1_0.xsd"> <persistence-unit name="testpu" transaction-type="RESOURCE_LOCAL"> <provider>org.eclipse.persistence.jpa.PersistenceProvider</provider> <class>mourv02.Pairs01Quotes</class> <class>mourv02.Pairs01Pair</class> <class>mourv02.Pairs01Trderrs</class> <class>mourv02.Pairs01Tradereq</class> <class>mourv02.Pairs01Tradeclosetgt</class> <class>mourv02.Pairs01Orderstatus</class> <properties> <property name="javax.persistence.jdbc.url" value="jdbc:postgresql://192.168.1.80:5432/blah"/> <property name="javax.persistence.jdbc.password" value="secret"/> <property name="javax.persistence.jdbc.driver" value="org.postgresql.Driver"/> <property name="javax.persistence.jdbc.user" value="noone"/> </properties> </persistence-unit> </persistence>

  • spring mvc forward to jsp

    - by jerluc
    I currently have my web.xml configured to catch 404s and send them to my spring controller which will perform a search given the original URL request. The functionality is all there as far as the catch and search go, however the trouble begins to arise when I try to return a view. <bean class="org.springframework.web.servlet.view.ContentNegotiatingViewResolver" p:order="1"> <property name="mediaTypes"> <map> <entry key="json" value="application/json" /> <entry key="jsp" value="text/html" /> </map> </property> <property name="defaultContentType" value="application/json" /> <property name="favorPathExtension" value="true" /> <property name="viewResolvers"> <list> <bean class="org.springframework.web.servlet.view.BeanNameViewResolver" /> <bean id="viewResolver" class="org.springframework.web.servlet.view.InternalResourceViewResolver"> <property name="prefix" value="/WEB-INF/jsp/" /> <property name="suffix" value="" /> </bean> </list> </property> <property name="defaultViews"> <list> <bean class="org.springframework.web.servlet.view.json.MappingJacksonJsonView" /> </list> </property> <property name="ignoreAcceptHeader" value="true" /> </bean> This is a snippet from my MVC config file. The problem lies in resolving the view's path to the /WEB-INF/jsp/ directory. Using a logger in my JBoss setup, I can see that when I test this search controller by going to a non-existent page, the following occurs: Server can't find the request Request is sent to 404 error page (in this case my search controller) Search controller performs search Search controller returns view name (for this illustration, we'll assume test.jsp is returned) Based off of server logger, I can see that org.springframework.web.servlet.view.JstlView is initialized once my search controller returns the view name (so I can assume it is being picked up correctly by the InternalResourceViewResolver) Server attempts to return content to browser resulting in a 404! A couple things confuse me about this: I'm not 100% sure why this isn't resolving when test.jsp clearly exists under the /WEB-INF/jsp/ directory. Even if there was some other problem, why would this result in a 404? Shouldn't a 404 error page that results in another 404 theoretically create an infinite loop? Thanks for any help or pointers! Controller class [incomplete]: @Controller public class SiteMapController { //-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- @Autowired(required=true) private SearchService search; @Autowired(required=true) private CatalogService catalog; //-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- @RequestMapping(value = "/sitemap", method = RequestMethod.GET) public String sitemap (HttpServletRequest request, HttpServletResponse response) { String forwardPath = ""; try { long startTime = System.nanoTime() / 1000000; String pathQuery = (String) request.getAttribute("javax.servlet.error.request_uri"); Scanner pathScanner = new Scanner(pathQuery).useDelimiter("\\/"); String context = pathScanner.next(); List<ProductLightDTO> results = new ArrayList<ProductLightDTO>(); StringBuilder query = new StringBuilder(); String currentValue; while (pathScanner.hasNext()) { currentValue = pathScanner.next().toLowerCase(); System.out.println(currentValue); if (query.length() > 0) query.append(" AND "); if (currentValue.contains("-")) { query.append("\""); query.append(currentValue.replace("-", " ")); query.append("\""); } else { query.append(currentValue + "*"); } } //results.addAll(this.doSearch(query.toString())); System.out.println("Request: " + pathQuery); System.out.println("Built Query:" + query.toString()); //System.out.println("Result size: " + results.size()); long totalTime = (System.nanoTime() / 1000000) - startTime; System.out.println("Total TTP: " + totalTime + "ms"); if (results == null || results.size() == 0) { forwardPath = "home.jsp"; } else if (results.size() == 1) { forwardPath = "product.jsp"; } else { forwardPath = "category.jsp"; } } catch (Exception ex) { System.err.println(ex); } System.out.println("Returning view: " + forwardPath); return forwardPath; } }

  • How to issue SQL Server lock hints in WCF Entity Framework?

    - by TMN
    I'm just learning the WCF entity framework (and .net in general), and I'm running into a problem specifying lock hints in an embedded SQL query. I'm trying to specify a query that has lock hints in it (e.g., "SELECT * FROM xyz WITH(XLOCK, ROWLOCK)") and I keep getting errors from the runtime that the query syntax is not valid. The query works if I enter it directly into SQL Server. Is there some special syntax for lock hints when creating IQueryable result sets, or do I have to somehow mess with the transaction isolation level (probably not possible, as I need to specify different lock hints on a subquery within the main query).

  • How do I make a Java ResultSet available in my jsp?

  • Load only some columns with Hibernate native SQL queries

I found also a bug in Hibernate JIRA (http://opensource.atlassian.com/projects/hibernate/browse/HHH-3035). Anyone knows how to accomplish this task with a workaround?

  • Appengine backreferences - need composite index?

    - by davezor
    I have a query that is very recently starting to throw: "The built-in indices are not efficient enough for this query and your data. Please add a composite index for this query." I checked the line on which this exception is being thrown, and the problem query is this one: count = self.vote_set.filter("direction =", 1).count() This is literally a one-filter operation using appengine's built-in backreferences. I have no idea how to optimize this query...anyone have any suggestions? I tried to add this index: - kind: Vote properties: - name: direction direction: desc - kind: Vote properties: - name: direction And I got a message (obviously) saying this was an unnecessary index. Thanks for your help in advance.

  • How to load an entity by a key other than primary key?

    - by stacker
    In a customized servlet (seam 2.1.2) this works fine TableNameHome tableNameHome = (TableNameHome) Component.getInstance( "tableNameHome " ); tableName entity = tableNameHome.getInstance(); entity.setXXX(); tableNameHome.persit(); However this one fails: entityManager = tableNameHome .getEntityManager(); Query query = entityManager.createQuery( "SELECT b FROM tablename b WHERE b.box_id = :key2nd" ); query.setParameter( "key2nd", value); List results = query.getResultList(); and leads to this error message: org.hibernate.hql.ast.QuerySyntaxException: tablename is not mapped [SELECT b FROM tablename b WHERE b.key2nd = :key2nd] In EJB 2.1 I could implement other finder-methods. EntityHome.find() searches only by primary key. What do I need to do in order to query by a different criteria than primary key?

  • SQLAlchemy - loading user by username

    - by keithjgrant
    Just diving into pylons here, and am trying to get my head around the basics of SQLALchemy. I have figured out how to load a record by id: user_q = session.query(model.User) user = user_q.get(user_id) But how do I query by a specific field (i.e. username)? I assume there is a quick way to do it with the model rather than hand-building the query. I think it has something with the add_column() function on the query object, but I can't quite figure out how to use it. I've been trying stuff like this, but obviously it doesn't work: user_q = meta.Session.query(model.User).add_column('username'=user_name) user = user_q.get()

I am not able to understand how to place this big where condition (which contains a sub-query as well) in place of the "String selection" i.e. 3rd parameter of the method. Shall i simple write the entire where part(including the sub-query) as a string in the 3rd parameter or else there is some other better way for doing the same? Please suggest me the best way to do the same. Regards,
