  I am having trouble with a perl screenscraper to an HTTPS site. • Custom Checkbox style for WPF

  I would like to skin a wpf default checkbox to something custom. Since it does not really make sense to start off a entirely new control, i'd like to override the Windows Chrome template binding for the Bulletchrome sub component of the checkbox. • MVC2 DataAnnotations on ViewModel - ModelState.isValid Always Returns true

  I have an MVC2 Application that uses MVVM pattern. I am trying use Data Annotations to validate form input. In my ThingsController I have two methods: [HttpGet] public ActionResult Index() { return View(); } public ActionResult Details(ThingsViewModel tvm) { if (!ModelState.IsValid) return View(tvm); try { Query q = new Query(tvm.Query); ThingRepository repository = new ThingRepository(q); tvm.Airplanes = repository.All(); return View(tvm); } catch (Exception) { return View(); } } My Details.aspx view is strongly typed to the ThingsViewModel: <%@ Page Title="" Language="C#" MasterPageFile="~/Views/Shared/Site.Master" Inherits="System.Web.Mvc.ViewPage<Config.Web.Models.ThingsViewModel>" %> The ViewModel is a class consisting of a IList of returned Thing objects and the Query string (which is submitted on the form) and has the Required data annotation: public class ThingsViewModel { public IList<Thing> Things{ get; set; } [Required(ErrorMessage="You must enter a query")] public string Query { get; set; } } When I run this, and click the submit button on the form without entering a value I get a YSOD with the following error: The model item passed into the dictionary is of type 'Config.Web.Models.ThingsViewModel', but this dictionary requires a model item of type System.Collections.Generic.IEnumerable`1[Config.Domain.Entities.Thing]'. How can I get Data Annotations to work with a ViewModel? I cannot see what I'm missing or where I'm going wrong - the VM was working just fine before I started mucking around with validation.

• [WPF] Custom TabItem in TabControl

  I've created CustomTabItem which inherits from TabItem and i'd like to use it while binding ObservableCollection in TabControl <TabControl ItemsSource="{Binding MyObservableCollection}"/> It should like this in XAML, but i do not know how change default type of the output item created by TabControl while binding. I've tried to create converter, but it has to do something like this inside convertin method: List<CustomTabItem> resultList = new List<CustomTabItem>(); And iterate through my input ObservableCollection, create my CustomTab based on item from collection and add it to resultList... I'd like to avoid it, bacause while creating CustomTabItem i'm creating complex View and it takes a while, so i don't want to create it always when something change in binded collection. My class extends typical TabItem and i'd like to use this class in TabControl instead of TabItem. <TabControl.ItemContainerStyle> <Style TargetType="{x:Type local:CustomTabItem}"> <Setter Property="MyProperty" Value="{Binding xxx}"/> </Style> </TabControl.ItemContainerStyle> Code above generates error that Style cannot be applied to TabItem. My main purpose is to use in XAML my own CustomTabItem and bind properties... Just like above... I've also tried to use <TabControl.ItemTemplate/> <TabControl.ContentTemaplte/> But they are just styles for TabItem, so i'll still be missing my properties wchich i added in my custom class.

The indicated class implements Serializable (the whole object graph). So far the only patterns / observations are: we seem to have the issue only when the application is used inside an iframe the problem seems to happen when a new version of the application has been deployed running firefox in privacy mode (disabling all caches etc.) doesn't fix the problem Any ideas?   I have an extremely simple IMultiValueConverter that simply OR's two values. There are no problems when I do not use the converter (other than not the logic I am aiming for, of course). Am I missing something? Stepping through the debugger shows that the InverseBoolConverter is properly inverting the value I pass it, but that value is then not being 'sent' to the MultiValueConverter.

  Hi, I am using calling web services and using WCF generated service-reference on the client. I have saved XML responses that are received from test service to disk (without SOAP envelope and body tags) I would like to load them from disk and create objects from them. Lets' take the following method from my web service: SomeMethodResponse SomeMethod(SomeMethodRequest req) I manually (through SOAP UI) save the response to disk to file, Sample response: < SomeMethodResponse xmlns="http://myNamespace"> <SomeMember1>value</SomeMember1> </SomeMethodResponse xmlns="http://myNamespace"> Then I try to deserialize the object from file using: DataContractSerializer dcs = new DataContractSerializer(typeof(SomeMethodResponse)) This fails – the serializer complains with the error, that it is expecting element in namespace 'http://schemas.datacontract.org/2004/07', but found element in 'http://myNamespace'. Question: Why does the DataContractSerializer not use the namespace, that is declared on SomeMethodResponseType with XmlTypeAttribute(Namespace="http://myNamespace")? I can work around this by explicitly providing the namespace and the root element to DataContractSerializer constructor. But then it fails with message similar to: Error in line X position Y (last line of the XMLdocument). 'EndElement' 'SomeMethodResponse from namespace 'httpmyNapespace’ is not expected. Expecting element 'someNameField'. SomeName is an element in the XSD that web service is using. It is also a property on the SomeMethodResponse type, backed by the private field called someNameField. It looks like DataContractSerializer is trying to deserialize the fields in addition to properties. How can I deserailize XML that I have saved from disk and get back the object of same type that SomeMethod is returning? Thanks, Matra

  i configure my messageconverter as Jackson's then class Foo{int x; int y} and in controller @ResponseBody public Foo method(){ return new Foo(3,4) } from that i m expecting to return a JSON string {x:'3',y:'4'} from server without any other configuration. but getting 404 error response to my ajax request If the method is annotated with @ResponseBody, the return type is written to the response HTTP body. The return value will be converted to the declared method argument type using HttpMessageConverters. Now I've configured my Solr instance so that it works on Tomcat (the example admin page), but if I try to change the sorlconfig.xml file i'll get the error message.   Hi Everyone, I want to query the DB through LINQ writing manual SQL, my linq method is: var q = db.TableView.Where(sqlAfterWhere); returnValue = q.Count(); this method queries well if the value passed to variable "sqlAfterWhere" is: (this variable is String type) it.Name = 'xyz' but what if i want to use IN clause, using a sub query. (i need to use 'it' before every column name in the above query to work), i cant use 'it' before the sub query columns as its a separate query, so what should i do, if i dont use any thing, and use column names directly it gives error saying " could not be resolved" where is my column names with out 'it' at the begining. So the query not working is: (this is a string passed to the variable above): it.Name IN (SELECT Name FROM TableName WHERE Address LIKE '%SomeAddress%') the errors come out as: Name could not be resolved Address could not be resolved The exact error is: "'Name' could not be resolved in the current scope or context. Make sure that all referenced variables are in scope, that required schemas are loaded, and that namespaces are referenced correctly., near simple identifier, line 6, column 25." Same error for "Address as well if i use 'it.' before these columns it gives error as: "The element type 'Edm.Int32' and the CollectionType 'Transient.collection[Transient.rowtype(GroupID,Edm.Int32(Nullable=True,DefaultValue=))]' are not compatible. The IN expression only supports entity, primitive, and reference types. , near WHERE predicate, line 6, column 14." Thanks for the help

• DRY Validation with MVC2

  Hi All, I'm trying to figure out how I can define validation rules for my domain objects in one single location within my application but have run in to a snag... Some background: My location has several parts: - Database - DAL - Business Logic Layer - SOAP API Layer - MVC website The MVC website accesses the database via the SOAP API, just as third parties would. We are using server and and client side validation on the MVC website as well as in the SOAP API Layer. To avoid having to manually write client side validation we are implementing strongly typed views in conjunction with the Html.TextBoxFor and Html.ValidationMessageFor HTML helpers, as shown in Step 3 here. We also create custom models for each form where one form takes input for multiple domain objects. This is where the problem begins, the HTML helpers read from the model for the data annotation validation attributes. In most cases our forms deal with multiple domain objects and you can't specify more than one type in the <%@Page ... Inherits="System.Web.Mvc.ViewPage" % page directive. So we are forced to create a custom model class, which would mean duplicating validation attributes from the domain objects on to the model class. I've spent quite some time looking for workarounds to this, such has referencing the same MetadataType from both the domain class and the custom MVC models, but that won't work for several reasons: You can only specify one MetadataType attribute per class, so its a problem if a model references multiple domain objects, each with their own metadata type. The data annotation validation code throws an exception if the model class doesn't contain a property that is specified in the referenced MetadataType which is a problem with the model only deals with a subset of the properties for a given domain object. I've looked at other solutions as well but to no avail. If anyone has any ideas on how to achieve a single source for validation logic that would work across MVC client and server side validation functionality and other locations (such as my SOAP API) I would love to hear it!   Hey there, when trying to implement an Aspect, that is responsible for catching and logging a certain type of error, I initially thought this would be possible using the AfterThrowing advice. However it seems that his advice doesn't catch the exception, but just provides an additional entry point to do something with the exception. The only advice which would also catch the exception in question would then be an AroundAdvice - either that or I did something wrong. Can anyone assert that indeed if I want to catch the exception I have to use an AroundAdvice? The configuration I used follows: @Pointcut("execution(* test.simple.OtherService.print*(..))") public void printOperation() {} @AfterThrowing(pointcut="printOperation()", throwing="exception") public void logException(Throwable exception) { System.out.println(exception.getMessage()); } @Around("printOperation()") public void swallowException(ProceedingJoinPoint pjp) throws Throwable { try { pjp.proceed(); } catch (Throwable exception) { System.out.println(exception.getMessage()); } } Note that in this example I caught all Exceptions, because it just is an example. I know its bad practice to just swallow all exceptions, but for my current use case I want one special type of exception to be just logged while avoiding duplicate logging logic.

  I am trying to figure out a way to display a cross-domain web page that uses Digest Authentication. My initial thought was to make a web request and return the entire page source. I currently have no issues with authenticating and getting a response but I am not sure how to properly return the needed data. // Create a request for the URL. WebRequest request = WebRequest.Create("http://some-url/cgi/image.php?type=live"); // Set the credentials. request.Credentials = new NetworkCredential(username, password); // Get the response. HttpWebResponse response = (HttpWebResponse)request.GetResponse(); // Get the stream containing content returned by the server. StreamReader reader = new StreamReader(dataStream); // Read the content. string responseFromServer = reader.ReadToEnd(); // Clean up the streams and the response. reader.Close(); dataStream.Close(); response.Close(); return responseFromServer; My problems are currently... responseFromServer is not returning the entire source of the page. I.E. missing body and head tags The data is encoded improperly in responseFromServer. I believe this has something to do with the transfer encoding being of the type chunked. Further more... I am not entirely sure if this is even possible. If it matters, this is being done in ASP.NET MVC 4 C#. Thanks, Chad

  I have this Razor Template <table> <tr> <td>@Html.RadioButtonFor(i => i.Value, "1")</td> <td>@Html.LabelFor(i => i.Value, "true")</td> </tr> <tr> <td>@Html.RadioButtonFor(i => i.Value, "0")</td> <td>@Html.LabelFor(i => i.Value, "false")</td> </tr> </table> That gives me this HTML <table> <tr> <td><input id="Items_1__Value" name="Items[1].Value" type="radio" value="1" /></td> <td><label for="Items_1__Value">true</label></td> </tr> <tr> <td><input checked="checked" id="Items_1__Value" name="Items[1].Value" type="radio" value="0" /></td> <td><label for="Items_1__Value">false</label></td> </tr> </table> So I have the ID Items_1__Value twice which is - of course - not good and does not work in a browser when I click on the second label "false" the first radio will be activated. I know I could add an own Id at RadioButtonFor and refer to that with my label, but that's not pretty good, is it? Especially because I'm in a loop and cannot just use the name "value" with an added number, that would be end up in multiple Dom Ids in my final HTML markup as well. Shouldn't be a good solution for this?

• Selectively suppress XML Code Comments in C#?

  We deliver a number of assemblies to external customers, but not all of the public APIs are officially supported. For example, due to less than optimal design choices sometimes a type must be publicly exposed from an assembly for the rest of our code to work, but we don't want customers to use that type. One part of communicating the lack of support is not provide any intellisense in the form of XML comments. Is there a way to selectively suppress XML comments? I'm looking for something other than ignoring warning 1591 since it's a long term maintenance issue. Example: I have an assembly with public classes A and B. A is officially supported and should have XML documentation. B is not intended for external use and should not be documented. I could turn on XML documentation and then suppress warning 1591. But when I later add the officially supported class C, I want the compiler to tell me that I've screwed up and failed to add the XML documentation. This wouldn't occur if I had suppressed 1591 at the project level. I suppose I could #pragma across entire classes, but it seems like there should be a better way to do this.

  I have started playing with codility and came across this problem: A zero-indexed array A consisting of N different integers is given. The array contains integers in the range [1..(N + 1)], which means that exactly one element is missing. Your goal is to find that missing element. Write a function: int solution(int A[], int N); that, given a zero-indexed array A, returns the value of the missing element. For example, given array A such that: A[0] = 2 A[1] = 3 A[2] = 1 A[3] = 5 the function should return 4, as it is the missing element. Assume that: N is an integer within the range [0..100,000]; the elements of A are all distinct; each element of array A is an integer within the range [1..(N + 1)]. Complexity: expected worst-case time complexity is O(N); expected worst-case space complexity is O(1), beyond input storage (not counting the storage required for input arguments). I have submitted the following solution (in PHP): function solution($A) { $nr = count($A); $totalSum = (($nr+1)*($nr+2))/2; $arrSum = array_sum($A); return ($totalSum-$arrSum); } which gave me a score of 66 of 100, because it was failing the test involving large arrays: "large_range range sequence, length = ~100,000" with the result: RUNTIME ERROR tested program terminated unexpectedly stdout: Invalid result type, int expected. I tested locally with an array of 100.000 elements, and it worked without any problems. So, what seems to be the problem with my code and what kind of test cases did codility use to return "Invalid result type, int expected"?
