    Im moving hosting and need to move the emails stored with the old domain/hosting, the hosting i want to transfer from uses open-xchange for its webmail and the hosting i want to move to uses horde for their webmail. Is their an automated way from inside of the open xchange webmail, or is there a way i can do it from inside of outlook / mac mail ? not sure if this is the right place for this, if not please advise..

    As part of the new product initiatives of the MySQL on Windows group we released a tool that makes the task of getting data in and out of a MySQL Database very friendly and intuitive, and we paired it with one of the preferred applications for data analysis and manipulation in Windows platforms, MS Excel. Welcome to MySQL for Excel, an add-in that is installed and accessed from within the MS Excel’s Data tab offering a wizard-like interface arranged in an elegant yet simple way to help users browse MySQL Schemas, Tables, Views and Procedures and perform data operations against them using MS Excel as the vehicle to drive the data in and out MySQL Databases. One of the coolest features we had in mind designing MySQL for Excel is simplicity. MS Excel is simple and easy to work with, thus liked by many Windows users because they don’t have to be software gurus to use it.  We applied the same principle by targeting MySQL for Excel to any kind of user, so if you are already familiarized with Excel’s interface you will find yourself working with MySQL data in no time. MySQL for Excel is shipped within the MySQL Installer as one of the tools in the suite; if prerequisites are already installed (.NET Framework 4.0, Visual Studio Tools for Office 4.0 and of course MS Office), installing the add-in involves a very few clicks and no further setup to use it. Being an Excel Add-In there is no executable file involved after the installation, running MS Excel and opening the add-in from its Data tab is all that is required. MySQL for Excel automatically integrates with MySQL Workbench (if installed) to share the same connections to MySQL Server installations, that way connections are defined just once in either product saving time.  Opening the Add-In brings the Welcome Panel at the right side of the Excel main window from which connections to MySQL Servers are shown grouped by Local VS Remote connections; then users can open any of those connections by double-clicking it and entering the password of the used account.  Additionally a user can create a connection by clicking on the New Connection action label or edit connections through MySQL Workbench (if installed) by clicking on the Manage Connections action label. Once a connection is opened, the Schema Selection panel is shown, at the top of it the selected connection (connection name, hostname/IP and username). Just below, a list of schemas is displayed where User Schemas are grouped first followed by System Schemas; users can double-click any selected schema to go to the next panel or select a schema and clicking the Next > button. Users can alternatively click on the < Back button to go back to the Welcome Panel to close the current connection and open a new one; also by clicking the Create New Schema action label they can create an empty new schema. Once a schema is opened the DB Object Selection panel is shown, this is actually the place where the fun stuff happens; from here users are able to perform actions against MySQL Tables, Views and Procedures. ">The actions available here are about importing data from a MySQL Table, View or Procedure to Excel, exporting Excel data to a new MySQL Table, appending Excel data to an existing MySQL Table or editing a MySQL Table’s data by using an Excel Worksheet as a user interface to update data in any row/column, insert new rows or delete existing rows in a very easy and friendly way.   • Could not retrieve backup settings for primary ID in Log shipping

    I am doing log shipping between two Amazon EC2 instances running Windows Server 2008 R2 with SQL Server 2008 R2 standard edition. Both the instances are in the same domain and I can access the shared folders between the instances. The SQL server service account, agent service account are all running under a domain account. When I activate log shipping (with stand by mode restore in secondary server), the initial backup gets restored on the secondary. After that the backup operation is getting failed and i get the following error message: *** Error: Could not retrieve backup settings for primary ID 'xxxxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-4d772cd7337e'.(Microsoft.SqlServer.Management.LogShipping) *** *** Error: Failed to connect to server IP-0A7653F2.(Microsoft.SqlServer.ConnectionInfo) *** ****** Error: A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server.******** **The server was not found or was not accessible.   • Server 2008 R2 .Net 4 Programs running from Network share won't work

    we have several .Net Apps stored on a Network share on our old Server (Windows Server 2003). These Apps get called by Windows 7 32bit Clients and work perfectly fine. We recently wanted to upgrade our Server to Windows Server 2008 R2 and moved the Apps from the old share to our new share on the new Server. The problem started right afterwards since all of our .Net Programs won't start anymore from the new share (2008 R2). The Error that comes up is: "This application could not be started." and with a link to Microsoft: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2715633 (This Error also shows up when i start a simple console HelloWorld from the server share created in VS2012) Does anyone have any Idea why this is not working anymore on the new Servershare?   • How can I make WinXP bind to ports other than 1025-5000 for outgoing TCP connections?

    (I originally posted a similar question on StackOverflow but readers recommended I post here instead) When you create outgoing TCP connections, most applications let the operating system choose which port to use. Most OSes use the IANA recommended dynamic port range of 49152-65535 for this purpose. But in Windows 2003 and earlier (including XP) Microsoft uses ports 1025-5000. Microsoft lets you change the high end of this range via the MaxUserPort TcpIP registry setting, but I see no way to change the low end. I need to have port 4160 free for incoming connections and on rare occasions an outgoing connection steals that port from me before I bind that port.

    Is there a way to change the desktop wallpaper in Windows 7 Starter Edition? I wanted to do that on my new netbook, just to find out that there is no "Customize" option in the control panel. Microsoft obviously wants to keep the netbook users rather rigidly from customizing their machines. It isn't even possible to edit the picture itself in the C:\Windows\Web\Wallpaper\Windows\ directory, due to lack of rights. From what I can tell only the user "Trusted Installer" would have enough rights to do so...     If you have large files in a content source that is being indexed by Sharepoint you might run into the following error message: “The file reached the maximum download limit. Check that the full text of the document can be meaningfully crawled.” This is usually caused because SharePoint’s MaxDownloadSize setting is set lower than the size of the file you are attempting to index. You can increase this value, restart the service then kick off a full crawl in order to fix this issue, but SharePoint 2007 and 2010 have different methods for accomplishing this task.   Sharepoint 2007 Open up the Registry editor and increase the MaxDownloadSize value to a number (in MB) higher than the largest file being indexed. You can find this at: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Search\1.0\Gathering Manager After you increase the size, cycle the search service and kick off a full crawl of the content source in question.   Sharepoint 2010 With SharePoint 2010 you can use PowerShell via the Sharepoint 2010 Console in order to change the MaxDownloadSize.     Our client's application EventLog is getting filled up with warnings due to a bug in the Microsoft SQL Server report viewer control, http://support.microsoft.com/kb/973219. They have thousands of users running reports so this is making their eventlog hard to use and they want them removed on a frequent basis. I tried using PowerShell to remove the events, but that does not seem possible. Is there a way to prevent these entries from being written to the event log in the first place? I'm thinking I would like to filter out events where event source="ASP.NET 2.0.50727.0", eventId ="1309" and Message contains "Reserved.ReportViewerWebControl.axd"

    Flash backs from the past! It's truly amazing to discover that software development from freshman to senior level as well as project management hasn't changed that much. This title also brought his other fictional novels to my attention. Once again here is the review I published on Amazon: Built to last! I have been around in software development for more than a decade now but honestly I have to admit it is only now that I took the opportunity to read about the history of my used to be primary programming language. In fact, I started with Visual FoxPro 6 back in 1999 and went only down to FoxPro for Windows 2.6 during migration projects - long after the stories described in this title. It is really interesting to see how they actually managed to create a great product with such a small team of developers. "Create the best Report Writer in the world, out of only sawdust, bubblegum, and dreams." - That's the best sentence I'm going to quote from this title in the future. An inspiration to achieve the impossible, only by taking small steps. Just begin the journey - one step after the next one. If you fall, stand up and continue to walk. Kerry takes the reader on an amazing trip through almost 4 years working at a small software company in Perrysburg, Ohio. That went from a another 'look-alike' of the mighty Ashton-Tate dBase to the leading force in database development, long before Microsoft Access (project name: Cirrus) was even finished. It survived Borland Paradox and even nowadays Visual FoxPro is still in daily use in thousands of companies world-wide.     We're very close to wrapping up a WPF dashboarding application using SSRS (.RDLC files) and the Microsoft Report Viewer. For a number of reasons, this combination has turned out to be less than what we had hoped. One of the biggest problems is that the Microsoft Report Viewer is not a WPF control. We've had other problems as well. Our app consists of at least 5 tabs and each tab has at least 4-5 charts on it. All the charts update on their own timed schedules (like every 15-30 minutes). For the next version I'd like to explore other .NET charting tools for WPF. Performance is absolutely critical. As is resource usage. The tool must support WPF and as many chart types as possible. Can anyone recommend (or not recommend) charting tools they have experience with? We own Telerik and I've dabbled with their charting control. At the 30K foot level, it seems quite nice.

  • Does learning to develop for iOS create a lock-in?

    If I begin my career (first job) with developing on the iOS platform, does that lock me in into iOS and Mac OS X development only? By locking me in I mean will that create barriers for me to switch technologies as I would be mainly working with Objective-C. If yes, does that make my career choices limited? I'm interested in comparing this with Android development, which if pursued will leave me with Java skills (correct me if I'm wrong) which I can use elsewhere.

  • How to move complete SharePoint Server 2007 from one box to another

    It was time of my first onsite client assignment on SharePoint. Client had one server production environment. They wanted to upgrade the topology with completely new SharePoint Farm of three servers. So, the task was to move whole MOSS 2007 stuff to the new server environment without impacting data. The last three scary words “… without impacting data…” were actually putting pressure on my head. Moreover SSP was required to move because additional information has been added for users apart from AD import.   I thought I had to do only backup and restore. It appeared pretty easy at first thought. Just because of these damn scary words, I thought to check out on internet for guidance related to this scenario. I couldn’t get anything except general guidance of moving server on Microsoft TechNet site. I promised myself for starting blogs with this post if I would be successful in this task. Well, I took long time to write this but finally made it. I hope it will be useful to all guys looking for SharePoint server movement.   Before beginning restoration, make sure that, there is no difference in versions of SharePoint at source and destination server. Also check whether the state of SharePoint Installation at the time of backup and restore is same or not. (E.g. SharePoint related service packs and patches if any)   The main tasks of the server movement are as follow:   Backup all the databases Install and configure SharePoint on new environment Deploy all solution (WSP Files) globally to destination server- for installing features attached to the solutions Install all the custom features Deploy/Copy custom pages/files which are added to the “12Hive” folder later Restore SSP Restore My Site Restore other web application   Tasks 3 to 5 are for making sure that we have configured the environment well enough for the web application to be restored successfully. The main and complex task was restoring SSP. I have started restoring SSP through Central Admin. After a while, the restoration status was updated to “unsuccessful”. “Damn it, what went wrong?” I thought looking at the error detail down the page. I couldn’t remember the error message but I had corrected and restored it again.   Actually once you fail restoring SSP, until and unless you don’t clean all related stuff well, your restoration will be failed again and again. I wanted to find the actual reason. So cleaned, restored, cleaned, restored… I had tried almost 5-6 times and finally, I succeeded. I had realized how pleasant it is, to see the word “Successful” on the screen. Without wasting your much time to read, let me write all the detailed steps of restoring SSP:   Delete the SSP through following STSADM command. stsadm -o deletessp -title <SSP name> -deletedatabases -force e.g.: stsadm -o deletessp -title SharedServices1 -deletedatabases –force Check and delete the web application associated with SSP if it exists. Remove Link from Check and remove “Alternate Access Mapping” associated with SSP if it exists. Check and delete IIS site as well as application pool associated with SSP if it exists. Stop following services: ·         Office SharePoint Server Search ·         Windows SharePoint Services Search ·         Windows SharePoint Services Help Search Delete all the databases associated/related to SSP from SQL Server. Reset IIS. Start again following services: ·         Office SharePoint Server Search ·         Windows SharePoint Services Search ·         Windows SharePoint Services Help Search Restore the new SSP.   After the SSP restoration, all other stuffs had completed very smoothly without any more issues. I did few modifications to sites for change of server name and finally, the new environment was ready.
