However, I want to manipulate the string coming back as the Entity's "Description". How can I call a function on DisplayMember?

  • how can i request a variable in my home.ctp of my cakePHP application?

    I created a page using the MVC structure called 'sections' ( view is located in the app/views/sections folder, model in the model folder and the controller in the controller folder) when i request the variable $test, it works fine without any errors.. When i want to request this variable in my home.ctp, it provides me with an error, saying that the variable is undefined.. Is there any way in cakePHP to request this variable on any page you want it to? Thnx in advance!

The thing is when I go to the url test.com/index.php?option=com_mycomponent, it still uses the default template instead of the template that I set it to. PS: The component works, only it's using the wrong template.

  • undefined method `bytes' for for String in Ruby

    I am working with ruby 1.8.6 (2007-03-13 patchlevel 0) [x86_64-linux] and I get undefined method `bytes' for #<String:0x2a95ec2268> (NoMethodError) even though my code works on ruby 1.8.7. patchlevel 249 I saw somewhere that you need to add require "jcode" for a similar method not defined error with each_byte. I tried adding that but it still does not work. Any suggestions are very appreciated.

    Does AMQP has any advantages over an ad-hoc implementation for a simple stats gathering scenario? It works like this - clients send events (more than we care to put into persistent storage) to (several) web workers, the workers aggrregate them and write to a single database. I don't think I should consider using AMQP for this because I'll still need web workers to receive events from clients through HTTP and to publish them. Am I missing something?

  • A more elegant way to parse a string with ruby regular expression using variable grouping?

    At the moment I have a regular expression that looks like this: ^(cat|dog|bird){1}(cat|dog|bird)?(cat|dog|bird)?$ It matches at least 1, and at most 3 instances of a long list of words and makes the matching words for each group available via the corresponding variable. Is there a way to revise this so that I can return the result for each word in the string without specifying the number of groups beforehand? ^(cat|dog|bird)+$ works but only returns the last match separately , because there is only one group.

  • ServeletException, Property <variable name> not found

    What i'm trying to do is add a new variable to this previously created Managed Bean Hello.java and use it in my xhtml file binding to a text field. But it seems that it is not being found when i run it on the server. So it throws a "ServeletException" and says that the "property 'lname'(my variable) is not found". How do i solve this and why is this happening?     In a simple Ruby example, I'm getting an error that does not occur in irb. name = "Joe" def say_hi "\"Hi there!\" said #{self}" end response = name.say_hi puts response This code should return, "Hi there!" said Joe. It works perfectly fine in irb. However, when I attempt to put the same code in a file and run the file, I get this error: say_hi.rb:8:in `<main>': private method `say_hi' called for "Joe":String (NoMethodError) Any suggestion about why this happens?

    Hi all, how can I set cookies in the middle of a document, without incurring a 'headers already sent' error? What I'm trying to do is make a log out script (the log in cookie setting works...so odd. Is it because it's enclosed in an if statement?) however I've already echoed the page title and some other stuff at the top of the page, before I've made this logout happen. Thanks!

Well, it can overwrite if the existing file have attribute R or A. Not when its blanked. Error in red text: "Copy-Item : The file '\server\d$\path\thumbs\007487l.jpg' already exists." Why?

    When searching for number of occurrences of a string in a file, I generally use: grep pattern file | wc -l However, this only finds one occurrence per line, because of the way grep works. How can I search for the number of times a string appears in a file, regardless of whether they are on the same or different lines? Also, what if I'm searching for a regex pattern, not a simple string? How can I count those, or, even better, print each match on a new line?

  • Sub-viewController doesn't get autorotation notifications, bug?

    If I have a view (and its controller) and I override the willAnimateRotationToInterfaceOrientation method so I can respond to autorotation events everything works fine and dandy. Now if I create another viewController and add its view to the first viewController's view via: [firstViewController.view addSubview:secondViewController.view] The secondViewController's willAnimateRotationToInterfaceOrientation method isn't called.     In my MSI package I need to set user rights to a directory using cacls.exe. It works fine in an NTFS environment but fails when run on a Fat32 file system. Is there a method to determine the type of file system of the drive the software is installed to? I'm using WiX 3 to create my MSI package but any hint pointing to the MSI database would help as well. Many thanks in advance.

  • Running a Java program with input from a file

    I am writing a program that reads the input from a file and then prints it to the screen. When I run it without taking the input from the file, it works perfectly fine. However, every time I try to run it from the file it gives me an "Exception in thread "main" java.util.NoSuchElementException: No line found at" error that occurs every place the input is suppose to be read. I have no idea what is going on.

    As I understand it GPL says you only have to distribute derivative code for works you distribute, i.e. if you develop internal software you can keep your code private. What happens if you develop a server application, say like Facebook or StackOverflow? The server app is not 'distributed' so what's the situation with your code in this case?
