• Varnish cached 'MISS status' object?

  My site uses nginx, varnish, jboss. And some url will be cached by varnish, it depends a response header from jboss. The first time, jboss tells varnish doesn't cache this url. Then the second request, jboss tells varnish to cache, but varnish won't cache it. I used varnishstat and found that 1 object is cached in Varnish, is that the 'MISS status' object? I remove grace code and the problem still exists. When I PURGE this url, varnish works fine and cache the url then. But I can't PURGE so much urls every startup time, how can I fix this?   I remember in 2006 we were working on a portal for our client Venetian, Las Vegas and the portal is full of AJAX features. One of my friend facing a challange to retain browser history with all AJAX operation. In terms of user experience it is an important aspect which could not be avoided in that scenario. Well that time we have made some workarounds to achieve the same but that may not be the perfect solution. Ok.. Now with Microsoft AJAX there are a lot of such features can be achieved with optimum efficiency. Microsoft AJAX has grown its features over the past few years. Microsoft.Web.Preview.dll is an addon in conjunction with ASP.Net AJAX. It contains a control named "History" for that purpose. • Bind a Wijmo Grid to Salesforce.com Through the Salesforce OData Connector

  This article will explain how to connect to any RSSBus OData Connector with Wijmo's data grid using JSONP. While the example will use the Salesforce Connector, the same process can be followed for any of the RSSBus OData Connectors. Step 1: Download and install both the Salesforce Connector from RSSBus and the Wijmo javascript library. Step 2: Next you will want to configure the Salesforce Connector to connect with your Salesforce account. If you browse to the Help tab in the Salesforce Connector application, there is a link to the Getting Started Guide which will walk you through setting up the Salesforce Connector. Step 3: Once you have successfully configured the Salesforce Connector application, you will want to open a Wijmo sample grid file to edit. This example will use the overview.html grid found in the Samples folder. Step 4: First, we will wrap the jQuery document ready function in a callback function for the JSONP service. In the example we will append the authtoken of the user who has access to the Salesforce Connector using the @authtoken query string parameter. IMPORTANT: This is not secure and will expose the authtoken of the user whose authtoken you supply in this step. • javax.naming.InvalidNameException using Oracle BPM and weblogic when accessing directory

  We are getting this exception when we start our cluster (2 managed servers, 1 admin), we have deployed only the ears corresponding to the OBPM 10.3.1 SP1 in a weblogic 10.3. When the server cluster starts, one of the managed servers (the first to start) get overloaded and ran out of connections to the directory DB because of this repeatedly error. • e-interview: SunSpace to WebCenter migration

  I had the pleasure to do an e-interview with Ana Neves around the SunSpace to WebCenter migration project.  Below is the english version of the interview.  Enjoy   Peter, you joined Oracle in 2009 through the acquisition of Sun. Becoming a part of Oracle meant many changes. The internal collaboration platform was one of them, as per a post you wrote back in 2011. Sun had SunSpace. How would you describe SunSpace? SunSpace was the internal Community and Social Collaboration platform for the Sun's Global Sales and Services Organization. SunSpace served around 600 communities with a main focus around technology, products and services. SunSpace was a big success. Within 3 months of its launch SunSpace had over 20,000 users and it won the Atlassian "Not just another wiki" Award for the best use of Confluence (https://blogs.oracle.com/peterreiser/entry/goodbye_sunspace_hello_webcenter). What made SunSpace so special? 1. People centric versus  Web centric The main concept of SunSpace put the person in the middle of everything. All relevant information, resources  etc. where dynamically pushed to a person's  myProfile ( Facebook like interface) based on the person's interest and  needs.  2. Ease to use  SunSpace was really easy to use. We spent a lot of time on social interaction design to optimize the user experience.  Also we integrated some sophisticated technology to hide complexity from the user. As example - when a user added a document to SunSpace - we analyzed the content of the document and suggested related metadata and tags to the user based on a sophisticated algorithm which was integrated with the corporate taxonomy. Based on this metadata the document was automatically shared with the relevant communities.  3. Easy to find One of the main use cases for SunSpace was that  a user could quickly find the content and information they needed for their job.  The search implementation was based on:  optimized search engine algorithm using social value based ranking enhancements community facilitated search optimization  faceted search which recommended highly relevant  content like products, communities and experts 4. Social Adoption  - How to build vibrant communities You can deploy the coolest social technology but what if the users are not using it?   To drive user adoption we implemented two  complementary models: 4.1 Community Methodology  We developed a set of best practices on how to create, run and sustain communities including: community structure and types (e.g. Community of Practice, Community of Interest etc.) & tips and tricks on how to build a "vibrant " communities, Community Health check etc.  These best practices where constantly tuned and updated by the community of community drivers. 4.2. Social Value System To drive user adoption there is ONE key  question you  have to answer for each individual user: What's In It For Me (WIIFM) We developed a Social Value System called Community Equity which measures the social value flow between People, Content and Metadata. Based on this technology we added "Gamfication" techniques (although at that time this term did not exist ) to SunSpace to honor people for the active contribution and participation.  As example: All  social credentials a user earned trough active community participation where dynamically displayed on her/his myProfile. How would you describe WebCenter? Oracle WebCenter (@oraclewebcenter) is the Oracle's  user engagement platform for social business. It helps people work together more efficiently through contextual collaboration tools that optimize connections between people, information, and applications and ensures users have access to the right information in the context of the business process in which they are engaged. Oracle WebCenter can help your organization deliver contextual and targeted Web experiences to users and enable employees to access information and applications through intuitive portals, composite applications, and mash-ups. How does it compare to SunSpace in terms of functionality? Before I answer this question, I would like to point out some limitation we started to see with the current SunSpace implementation. Due to the massive growth of the user population (>20,000 users), we experienced  performance and scalability challenges with the current technology. Also at the time - Sun Internal Communications and SunIT planned to replace the entire Sun Intranet with SunSpace. We  kicked-off a project to evaluate the enterprise level technology which eventually would replace the good old static Intranet.  And then Oracle acquired Sun. We already had defined the functional requirements for the Intranet replacement with a Social Enterprise Stack and we just needed to evaluate the functional requirements against WebCenter   Below are the summary of this evaluation  MyProfile SunSpace WebCenter How WebCenter Works Home MyProfile: to access, click on your name at the top of any WebCenter page Your name, title, and reporting line are displayed.  Sub-tabs show your activity stream (Activities); people in your network (Connections); files you have uploaded (Documents); your contact information (Organization); and any personal information you wish to share (About).   Files MyFiles Allows you to upload, download and store documents or wiki pages within folders and subfolders.  The WebDav interface allows you to download / upload files / folders with a simple drag and drop to / from your local machine.  Tagging is supported and recommended. The entire Intranet serving around 100,000 users  is running on WebCenter Content.  For professional communities we use WebCenter Portal and Spaces. Currently we have around 6,000 community spaces with  around 40,000 members.  Does Oracle have any metrics to assess usage and impact of WebCenter? Can you give us some examples? Sure -  we have a lot of metrics   For the Intranet we use traditional metrics like pageviews, monthly unique visitors and unique visits.  For Communities we use the WebCenter Portal/Spaces analytics service which gives as a wealth of data. The key metrics we track are: Space traffic (PageViews, Unique Users) Wiki,Documents (views, downloads etc.) Forum (users, views, posts etc.) Registered members over time  Depending on the community we can filter/segment the metrics by User Properties e.g. Country, Organization, Job Role etc. What are you doing to improve usage and impact? 1. We  integrating the WebCenter social services/fabric into all  main business applications. As example The Fusion CRM deployment is seamless integrated with Oracle Social Network (OSN) and all conversation around an opportunity or customer engagement is  done in OSN (see youtube video). 2. We drive Social Best Practice trough a program called "Social Networking & Business Collaboration (SNBC) program" You worked both with WebCenter and SunSpace. Knowing what you know today, if you had the chance to choose between the two, which one would you choose? Why? That's a tricky question   In the early days of  the Social Enterprise implementation (we started SunSpace in 2006), we needed an agile and easy to deploy technology to keep up with the users requirements. Sometimes we pushed two releases per day  and we were in a permanent perpetual beta mode - SunSpace was perfect for that.  After the social implementation matured over time - community generated content became business critical and we saw a change in the  requirements from agile to stability, scalability and reliability  of the infrastructure.  WebCenter is the right choice for such an enterprise-level deployment.  You are a WebCenter Evangelist at Oracle. What do you do as part of that role? Our  role is to help position Oracle as one of the key thought leaders and solutions provider for Social Business. In addition we drive social innovation trough our Oracle Appslab  team. Is that a full time role? Yes  How many other Evangelists are there in Oracle? We are currently 5 people in the WebCenter evangelist team (@webcentervoices): Christian Finn (@cfinn) leads the team - Christian came from the Microsoft Sharepoint product management team and is a recognized expert in Social Business and Enterprise Collaboration. What area of the organisation is responsible for WebCenter? We are part of the WebCenter product management  organization.  Is WebCenter part of the Knowledge Management strategy? Oracle WebCenter is the Oracle's user engagement platform for social business. It brings together the most complete portfolio of portal, web experience management, content, social and collaboration technologies into a single product suite and is the product foundation of the Oracle Knowledge Management strategy.  I am aware Oracle also uses Beehive internally. How would you describe Beehive? Oracle Beehive provides an integrated set of communication and collaboration services built on a single scalable, secure, enterprise-class platform Beehive is  internally used for enterprise wide mail, calendar and real collaboration (Web conferencing) services.  Are Beehive and WebCenter connected? Historically Beehive and WebCenter Portal & Content had some overlap in functionally. (Hey - if  a company has an acquisition strategy to strengthen its product offering and accelerate  innovation, it's pretty normal that functional overlap exists  :- )) A key objective of the WebCenter strategy is  to combine all social and collaboration offerings under the WebCenter product family. That means that certain Beehive components  will be integrated into the overall WebCenter product offering.  Are there any other internal collaboration tools at Oracle? Which ones There here are two other main social tools which are widely used at Oracle  Oracle Connect was the first social tool the Oracle AppsLab team created in 2007 - see (Jake's blog post for details). It is still extensively used. ... and as a former Sun guy I like this quote from the blog post:  "Traffic to Connect peaked right after the Sun merger in 2010, when it served several hundred thousand pageviews each month; since then, traffic has subsided, but still averages tens of thousands of pageviews to several thousand users each month." Oratweet - Oracle internal microblogging platform has been used since June 2008 and it is still growing.  It's entirely written in Oracle Application Express (APEX) which is a rapid web application development tool for the Oracle database. The strategy is to seamless  integrate the WebCenter social & collaboration services into all Business Applications to help customers to socialize their enterprise.

  The code you are about to see was mostly to prove a point, to myself, and probably has limited applicability. Nonetheless, in the remote possibility this is useful to someone here it goes… So this is a control that acts like a normal UpdatePanel where all child controls are registered as postback triggers except for a single control specified by the TriggerControlID property. You could basically achieve the same thing by registering all controls as postback triggers in the regular UpdatePanel. However with this, that process is performed automatically. • RewriteRule not working for certain URLs

  There are a few domains pointing towards the same server, and of course I need them all redirect to only one of them. Redirects work, but only for certain URLs. What works: http://www.domain.com, http://domain.com, domain.com/index.html, domain.com/index.php, , domain.com/nonExistentDirectory, and if I click in the menu the following URLs are also redirected correctly: domain.com/foo/bar, domain.com/foo/bar.html or .php or other extension. What doesn't work: domain.com/existentDirectory, domain.com/foo/bar (if I type the URL in the address bar). If anyone will have the time and skill and will to tell me where's the mistake, I'll be deeply grateful. • Recieving and organizing results without server side script (JavaScript)

  I have been working on a very large form project for the past few days. I finally managed to get tables to work properly within a javascript file that opens a new display window. Now the issue at hand is that I can't seem to get CSS code to work within the javascript that I have created. Before everyone starts thinking "just use server side script idiot" I have a few conditions and info about the file: The file is only being ran local due to confidential information risks. Once again no option for server access. The intranet the computers are on are already top security and this wouldn't exactly be a company wide program The code below is obviously just a demo with a simple form... Our Interface Engineers want to be able to predict the ID’s of controls thereby having more control over their client side code for selecting/manipulating elements by ID or using CSS to target them. While playing with the just released VS2010 and .NET 4.0 I discovered some real cool improvements. One of them is the ability to now have full control over the ID being rendered for server controls. ASP.NET 4.0 controls now have a new ClientIDMode property which gives the developer complete control over the ID’s being rendered making it easy to write JavaScript and CSS against the rendered html. By default the ClientIDMode is set to Predictable which results in clean and predictable ID’s by concatenating the ID’s of the Parent and child controls. • JBoss https on port other than 8080 not working

  We have a server with two JBoss instances where one runs on 8080, the other on 8081. We need to have HTTPS enabled for the 8081 server, firstly we tried enabling https on the 8080 port instance by generating the keystore and editing the server.xml and it successfully worked. However when we tried the same thing for 8081 it did not, note that we removed https for the 8080 server first before enabling it for 8081. This is what was used for both server.xml for 8080 and 8081. The only difference was that the port was changed from 8080 to 8081 when trying to enable https for 8081 port instance. What am I doing wrong and what needs to be changed? NOTE : When I meant enabled for 8080 I meant when you visit https:// URL:8484 you will actually be visiting the 8080 port instance. However when ssl is enabled for 8081 and I visit https:// URL:8484 I get that the web page is unavailable. • jQuery - discrepency between classname and selectors

  I have the following code that I wrote, which I personally found to be pretty nice. It takes a <ul> and it drops down the contents when clicked. But I am having a disconnect here in comprehension, and one I had to do what I feel is a 'dirty hack' to solve. The problem is that I do not want the class `'sidebar-dropdown-open' to be so 'hardwired' in the plugin. However I discovered that there is a very stark difference between... $('.sidebar-dropdown-open') and 'sidebar-dropdown-open and even '.sidebar-dropdown-open.   I thought it worth sharing about property overwrite behaviour because i found it confusing at first in the hope of preventing some learning pain for the uninitiated with MSBuild :-)The confusion for me came because of the redundancy of using a Condition statement in a _project_ level property to test that a property has not been previously set. • Executing Stored Procedures in Visual Studio LightSwitch.

  A LightSwitch Project is very easy way to visualize and manipulate information directly from one of our ADO.NET Providers. But when it comes to executing the Stored Procedures, it can be a bit more complicated. In this article, we will demonstrate how to execute a Stored Procedure in LightSwitch. For the purposes of this article, we will be using the RSSBus Email Data Provider, but the same process will work with any of our ADO.NET Providers. Creating the RIA Service. Step 1: Open Visual Studio and create a new WCF RIA Service Class Project. Step 2:Add the reference to the RSSBus Email Data Provider dll in the (ProjectName).Web project. Step 3: Add a new Domain Service Class to the (ProjectName).Web project. Step 4: In the new Domain Service Class, create a new class with the attributes needed for the Stored Procedure's parameters. In this demo, the Stored Procedure we are executing is called SendMessage. The parameters we will need are as follows: public class NewMessage{ [Key] public int ID { get; set; } public string FromEmail { get; set; } public string ToEmail { get; set; } public string Subject { get; set; } public string Text { get; set; } } Note: The created class must have an ID which will serve as the key value. If you create a screen to check the sent messages, you can refresh this screen to see the mail you sent. • Customize baseUrl and baseDir in CKFinder

  We use CKEditor and CKFinder for Coldfusion in many of our CMS applications. These apps point to different sites on our server, so we want CKFinder setup to upload files to directories specific to each app. But we one want one shared location for the CKEditor and CKFinder files on the server. In the config.cfm file, we have setup the default baseURL and baseDir like this: config.baseUrl = "http://www.oursite.com/_files/site1/ckfinder_uploads/"; config.baseDir = '\\ourserver01\_files\site1\ckfinder_uploads\'; In the header file for each app, we include the following to instantiate CKEditor and CKFinder (including the jQuery adapter): <script type="text/javascript" src="/shared/ckeditor/ckeditor.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript" src="/shared/ckeditor/adapters/jquery.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript" src="/shared/ckfinder/ckfinder.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript"> $(document).ready(function(){ CKFinder.setupCKEditor( null, '/shared/ckfinder/' ); }); </script> When I open a CKFinder window in one of the apps, it correctly opens to the default baseURL/baseDir. • Column Header for a WPF TreeView

  I am using the WPF TreeView to display some hierarchical information. Each item in the TreeView consists of several attributes, so I am using a Grid within my HierarchicalDataTemplate to display these attributes: <HierarchicalDataTemplate x:Key="ArtistTemplate" ItemsSource="{Binding XPath=Title}" ItemTemplate="{StaticResource TitleTemplate}"> <Grid> <Grid.ColumnDefinitions> <ColumnDefinition SharedSizeGroup="NameColumn" /> <ColumnDefinition SharedSizeGroup="GenreColumn" /> <ColumnDefinition SharedSizeGroup="BornColumn" /> <ColumnDefinition SharedSizeGroup="DiedColumn" /> </Grid.ColumnDefinitions> <TextBlock Grid.Column="0" Text="{Binding XPath=@Name}" /> <TextBlock Grid.Column="1" Text="{Binding XPath=@Genre}" /> <TextBlock Grid.Column="2" Text="{Binding XPath=@Born}" /> <TextBlock Grid.Column="3" Text="{Binding XPath=@Died}" /> </Grid> </HierarchicalDataTemplate> This displays as a nice TreeView with 4 columns - so far so good! The only additional thing I need is a header above the TreeView that displays column names. The header column widths should be synchronized with TreeViewItems and also the header styles should be customizable. What's the easiest way to do this? P.S. I found two solutions that came close: 1) A TreeListView here, but this requires me to implement a custom interface (ITreeModel) to my model. Also the approach in this solution is to start with a ListView and to implement a RowExpander manually. In my case, the TreeView is sufficiently close to what I need, so I am hoping that putting a header on it should be very simple. 2) A TreeListView here. This one indeed starts with a TreeView, but I can't figure out how to customize the header. I suspect that I have to customize the GridViewHeaderRowPresenter in the generic.xaml, but this element does not seem to have its own ControlTemplate.
