  • Hosting a VST/DX instrument in C#/C++?

    I'm trying to get a read on the effort level involved in building a barebones virtual instrument host in C++ or C# but I haven't been able to get any hard information. Does anybody know any good starter apps, tutorials, helper libraries for this sort of thing? If it matters, the goal would be to a) accept incoming MIDI events and b) dispatch them to the virtual instrument. In C++ or C#, if possible. Thanks!

  • Does operator new allocate on THREAD heap?

    My problem seems to be this: heap data allocated by one thread (that later dies) seems to die as well. As so: Thread X: starts Thread Y: starts Thread X: ptr = new some bytes Thread X: dies Thread Y: tries to use ptr - and crashes! So far, I've only seen this problem on Darwin (Mac OS 10.5 and 10.6), but haven't tried more other platforms than Windows and Linux (Ubuntu) where it works as expected. I've had this problem for some time, so any know-how or more information about this is highly appreciated!

    I installed both Turtoise SVN and SubWeaver, I now have a SubWeaver drop down menu on the top of dreamweaver. I read a lot of the help files which basically explains how the system works and explains Copy-Modify-Merge. Console.WriteLine(System.Drawing.Imaging.ImageFormat.Jpeg.Guid); Outputs: b96b3cae-0728-11d3-9d7b-0000f81ef32e I want to store this in the database as a GUID - and read from the database and get the associated ImageFormat. How do I cast the GUID b96b3cae-0728-11d3-9d7b-0000f81ef32e to System.Drawing.Imaging.ImageFormat.Jpeg.Guid ?

  • Are has collisions with different file sizes just as likely as same file size?

    I'm hashing a large number of files, and to avoid hash collisions, I'm also storing a file's original size - that way, even if there's a hash collision, it's extrememly unlikely that the file sizes will also be identical. Is this sound (a hash collision is equally likely to be of any size), or do I need another piece of information (if a collision is more likely to also be the same length as the original). Or, more generally: Is every file just as likely to produce a particular hash, regardless of original file size?
