  • PHP form validation submit problem?

    - by TaG
    My code is suppose to save a year like 1999 to the mysql database but it wont. It will check to see if the user has entered only numbers and is at least 4 numbers long or if nothing has been entered correctly but it wont save the correct year? How can I fix this problem. Here is the PHP code. if(isset($_POST['year']) && intval($_POST['year']) && strlen($_POST['year']) == 4) { $year = mysqli_real_escape_string($mysqli, $purifier->purify(htmlentities(strip_tags($_POST['year'])))); } else if($_POST['year'] && strlen($_POST['year']) < 4) { echo '<p class="error">year is not correct!</p>'; } else if($_POST['year'] == NULL) { // do something }

  • Paging with jQuery

    - by zurna
    I get data from another page using jQuery get method. But I have a small problem. Sometimes, data that I take from another page is too long so it's divided into pages. When the user clicks on 1, 2, 3, ... links he/she is redirected to the other page. However, I want data to be reloaded on the same page. Edit $('ul.thumbs li.pagination a').live('click', function() { var pageNumber = parseInt($(this).text().replace(/[^0-9]/g, '')); $.ajax({ type: "GET", url: "images.cs.asp?Process=ViewImages&PAGEID=<%=Request.QueryString("PAGEID")%>", success: function(data) { $("#ViewImages").html(data); }, error: function (XMLHttpRequest, textStatus, errorThrown) { $("#ViewImages").html('.'); } }); return false; });

  • C - memset segfault for statically allocated char array

    - by user1327031
    I get a segfault when trying to memset an array of chars that was allocated statically, but not for an array of the same length that was allocated using malloc. variable definitions: //static char inBuff[IN_BUFF_LEN]; //dynamic char * inBuffD; function call: //static, cast used because char** != char (*) [n] serverInit(portNum, (char**) &inBuff, &serv_addr, &sockfd) //dynamic serverInit(portNum, &inBuffD, &serv_addr, &sockfd) use within the function: memset(*inBuffAdr, 0, IN_BUFF_LEN); I suspect that my problem is in the difference of the function calls, or to be more precise, my incomplete understanding of the "char** != char (*) [n]" situation. But I have been banging at this for too long and can't see the forest from the trees so any hints and advice would be very appreciated.

  • Regex for zeroing in on build output text error

    - by Mike Atlas
    I'd like to quickly hone in on what failed in a build log output that is nearly 5k lines long, using Notepad++ as my editor for the file. Notepad++ has the nice ability to specify regular expressions, so I am wondering if there is a way to not match: Compile complete -- 0 errors, 0 warnings but to match, for example: Compile complete -- 1 errors, 0 warnings Compile complete -- 100 errors, 0 warnings where the match would be (1 or more) errors. If this isn't possible, I will probably just write a quick line-by-line parsing tool instead, but I was hoping someone on StackOverflow could whip out a regular expression in the same amount of time - I'm definitely not proficient enough with regular expressions to be able to write one for my needs in a short amount of time.

  • Self-contained python installation with executable tools included (pip, orbited, etc)

    - by Tristan
    I'm trying deploy a Python application on Windows as a folder that includes a full python 2.6 folder. I don't need/want a fancy solution like py2exe, I'm just trying to automate deployment of a web application. So long as I include python26.dll and set the PYTHONHOME correctly, things seem to work if I just include the Python26 folder in its entirety. However a number of the Python26/Script files don't work. For instance, pip.exe, orbited.exe, and morbid.exe all do nothing (complete with no output) when I try to run them on a system that doesn't have a real Python26 installation. I've run out of ideas. Suggestions?

  • Splunk configuration

    - by user1696748
    is there a proper procedure to have real-time data in my application? Or I can add in any way so long as I added correctly? Firstly I created my application, then add new index. Next, I added the data scripts then added those logs that I want Splunk to monitor. Currently I cannot have real-time data. Perhaps due to my scripted inputs. Current situation is that Splunk did run my .bat in bin folder(logs were updated). However, my chart always shows "waiting for data" ...

  • Find a common element within N arrays

    - by kunjaan
    If I have N arrays, what is the best(Time complexity. Space is not important) way to find the common elements. You could just find 1 element and stop. Edit: The elements are all Numbers. Edit: These are unsorted. Please do not sort and scan. This is not a homework problem. Somebody asked me this question a long time ago. He was using a hash to solve the problem. I was thinking if SO has solved similar problems.

  • How do I calculate someone's age in Java?

    - by nojevive
    I want to return an age in years as an int in a Java method. What I have now is the following where getBirthDate() returns a Date object (with the birth date ;-)): public int getAge() { long ageInMillis = new Date().getTime() - getBirthDate().getTime(); Date age = new Date(ageInMillis); return age.getYear(); } But since getYear() is deprecated I'm wondering if there is a better way to do this? I'm not even sure this works correctly, since I have no unit tests in place (yet).

  • spliiting code in java-don't know what's wrong [closed]

    - by ???? ?????
    I'm writing a code to split a file into many files with a size specified in the code, and then it will join these parts later. The problem is with the joining code, it doesn't work and I can't figure what is wrong! This is my code: import java.io.*; import java.util.*; public class StupidSplit { static final int Chunk_Size = 10; static int size =0; public static void main(String[] args) throws IOException { String file = "b.txt"; int chunks = DivideFile(file); System.out.print((new File(file)).delete()); System.out.print(JoinFile(file, chunks)); } static boolean JoinFile(String fname, int nChunks) { /* * Joins the chunks together. Chunks have been divided using DivideFile * function so the last part of filename will ".partxxxx" Checks if all * parts are together by matching number of chunks found against * "nChunks", then joins the file otherwise throws an error. */ boolean successful = false; File currentDirectory = new File(System.getProperty("user.dir")); // File[] fileList = currentDirectory.listFiles(); /* populate only the files having extension like "partxxxx" */ List<File> lst = new ArrayList<File>(); // Arrays.sort(fileList); for (File file : fileList) { if (file.isFile()) { String fnm = file.getName(); int lastDot = fnm.lastIndexOf('.'); // add to list which match the name given by "fname" and have //"partxxxx" as extension" if (fnm.substring(0, lastDot).equalsIgnoreCase(fname) && (fnm.substring(lastDot + 1)).substring(0, 4).equals("part")) { lst.add(file); } } } /* * sort the list - it will be sorted by extension only because we have * ensured that list only contains those files that have "fname" and * "part" */ File[] files = (File[]) lst.toArray(new File[0]); Arrays.sort(files); System.out.println("size ="+files.length); System.out.println("hello"); /* Ensure that number of chunks match the length of array */ if (files.length == nChunks-1) { File ofile = new File(fname); FileOutputStream fos; FileInputStream fis; byte[] fileBytes; int bytesRead = 0; try { fos = new FileOutputStream(ofile,true); for (File file : files) { fis = new FileInputStream(file); fileBytes = new byte[(int) file.length()]; bytesRead = fis.read(fileBytes, 0, (int) file.length()); assert(bytesRead == fileBytes.length); assert(bytesRead == (int) file.length()); fos.write(fileBytes); fos.flush(); fileBytes = null; fis.close(); fis = null; } fos.close(); fos = null; } catch (FileNotFoundException fnfe) { System.out.println("Could not find file"); successful = false; return successful; } catch (IOException ioe) { System.out.println("Cannot write to disk"); successful = false; return successful; } /* ensure size of file matches the size given by server */ successful = (ofile.length() == StupidSplit.size) ? true : false; } else { successful = false; } return successful; } static int DivideFile(String fname) { File ifile = new File(fname); FileInputStream fis; String newName; FileOutputStream chunk; //int fileSize = (int) ifile.length(); double fileSize = (double) ifile.length(); //int nChunks = 0, read = 0, readLength = Chunk_Size; int nChunks = 0, read = 0, readLength = Chunk_Size; byte[] byteChunk; try { fis = new FileInputStream(ifile); StupidSplit.size = (int)ifile.length(); while (fileSize > 0) { if (fileSize <= Chunk_Size) { readLength = (int) fileSize; } byteChunk = new byte[readLength]; read = fis.read(byteChunk, 0, readLength); fileSize -= read; assert(read==byteChunk.length); nChunks++; //newName = fname + ".part" + Integer.toString(nChunks - 1); newName = String.format("%s.part%09d", fname, nChunks - 1); chunk = new FileOutputStream(new File(newName)); chunk.write(byteChunk); chunk.flush(); chunk.close(); byteChunk = null; chunk = null; } fis.close(); System.out.println(nChunks); // fis = null; } catch (FileNotFoundException fnfe) { System.out.println("Could not find the given file"); System.exit(-1); } catch (IOException ioe) { System.out .println("Error while creating file chunks. • Re-use aliased field in SQL SELECT STATEMENT

    - by Bad Display Name
    Hi, the question is hard to define without giving an example, e.g. I'd like to achieve something like this : SELECT (CASE WHEN ...) AS FieldA, 20 + FieldA AS FieldB FROM Tbl Assuming that by "..." I've replaced a long and complex CASE statement, hence I don't want to repeat it when selecting FieldB and use the aliased FieldA instead. IS THIS EVEN POSSIBLE? What could be a workaround? Note, that this will return multiple rows , hence the DECLARE/SET outside the SELECT statement is no good in my case. PLEASE HELP. P.S. I am using SQL 2008

  • Setting location based on previous parameter of $routeChangeError with AngularJS

    - by Moo
    I'm listening on events of the type $routeChangeError in a run block of my application. $rootScope.$on("$routeChangeError", function (event, current, previous, rejection) { if (!!previous) { console.log(previous); $location.path(previous.$$route.originalPath); } }); With the help of the previous parameter I would like to set the location to the previous page. This works as long as the "originalPath" of "previous.$$route" does not contain any parameters. If it contains parameters the "originalPath" is not transformed. Logging the previous objects returns the following output: $$route: Object ... originalPath: "/users/:id" regexp: /^\/users\/(?:([^\/]+)?)$/ ... params: Object id: "3" How can I set the location to the previous path including the parameters?

  • Is there any way I can use two monitors in the console in Linux?

    - by Alex
    I have recently become the proud owner of two monitors in my workspace. (Ok not owner, but you know what I mean) and I'd like to use both of them at once. Problem is, I much much prefer to use a Linux Server console over a desktop environment. The graphics card on the machine is a GTX295 (don't ask why, it's a long story.) so I essentially have two graphics cards. Each has a DVI output. Is there any way I can get the console to stretch across two screens? Or will I have to install a desktop Ubuntu for this to work?

  • Insert data into table effeciently, postgresql

    - by Rowan_Gaffney
    I am new to postgresql (and databases in general) and was hoping to get some pointers on improving the efficiency of the following statement. I am inserting data from one table to another, and do not want to insert duplicate values. I have a rid (unique identifier in each table) that are indexed and are Primary Keys. I am currently using the following statement: Insert INTO table1 SELECT * FROM table2 WHERE rid NOT IN (SELECT rid FROM table1). As of now the table one is 200,000 records, table2 is 20,000 records. Table1 is going to keep growing (probably to around 2,000,000) and table2 will stay around 20,000 records. As of now the statement takes about 15 minutes to run. I am concerned that as Table1 grows this is going to take way to long. Any suggestions?

  • Repeating characters in VIM insert mode

    - by Cthutu
    Is there a way of repeating a character while in Vim's insert mode? For example, say I would like to insert 80 dashes, in something like emacs I would type: Ctrl+U 8 0 - The only way I know how to do it in VIM is to exit normal mode for the repeat argument, then go back into insert mode to type the dash, then exit to insert the actual dashes, AND then go back into insert mode to carry on typing. The sequence is a really long: <ESC> 8 0 a - <ESC> a It would be nice not to switch in and out of modes. Thanks

  • How do I do division on HH:MM:SS format time strings in C#?

    - by Jake
    I have a series of times that are coming to me as strings from a web service. The times are formated as HH:MM:SS:000 (3 milisecond digits). I need to compare two times to determine if one is more than twice as long as the other: if ( timeA / timeB > 2 ) What's the simplest way to work with the time strings? If I was writing in Python this would be the answer to my question: Difference between two time intervals in Python Edit: What I'm really looking for is a way to get the ratio of timeA to timeB, which requires division, not subtraction. Unfortunately, the DateTime structure doesn't appear to have a division operator. Updated the question title to reflect this.

  • How to solve recursion relations in mathematica efficiently?

    - by Qiang Li
    I have a recursion to solve for. f(m,n)=Sum[f[m - 1, n - 1 - i] + f[m - 3, n - 5 - i], {i, 2, n - 2*m + 2}] + f[m - 1, n - 3] + f[m - 3, n - 7] f(0,n)=1, f(1,n)=n However, the following mma code is very inefficient f[m_, n_] := Module[{}, If[m < 0, Return[0];]; If[m == 0, Return[1];]; If[m == 1, Return[n];]; Return[Sum[f[m - 1, n - 1 - i] + f[m - 3, n - 5 - i], {i, 2, n - 2*m + 2}] + f[m - 1, n - 3] + f[m - 3, n - 7]];] It takes unbearably long to compute f[40,20]. Could anyone please suggest an efficient way of doing this? Many thanks!

  • Tabular.vim : how to align on the first occurrence of 2 different delimiters placed at the beginning of Words?

    - by ThG
    I have installed the Tabular plugin, which works very well for me, as long as there are no complicated regexes involved… But I have this list : one @abc @rstuvw &foo three @defg &bar four @mn @opq &kludge &hack twelve @hijkl &baz &quux I wish to align it that way (on @… first, then on &…) : one @abc @rstuvw &foo three @defg &bar four @mn @opq &kludge &hack twelve @hijkl &baz &quux which means I have 3 problems at the same time : align on the first occurrence of 2 different delimiters (@ and &) which are not really delimiters but "special characters" at the beginning of Words This is far beyond my understanding of both regexes and Tabular.vim How should I proceed ?

  • A brief question about JS or AJAX

    - by Luke
    I have been finding ways around this for a long time but think it's time I addressed it. If I have a page that has a dropdown menu, is there anyway I can select a value which will subsequently load other values further down. Can this be done without a page reload? I will give you an example. Say I was making some tools for an admin panel, but first of all they needed to select a member to work with. They would select the member and then below, the fields about that member would be populated based on what was selected in the first menu. As I have already asked, can this be done without a page reload? Thanks for reading.

  • How to get "printer ready bytes" from a source in c#?

    - by luis_villase
    Hey everyone! I'm in a bit of trouble here, hoping you can help a fellow programmer out. I have an application that receives a pointer to raw bytes (plus length and stuff) and sends said raw data to a printer. This is important, I have no choice but to use this method to get any printing done. If I send a raw string, it will print with no problem. However, I need to be able to print formatted text, images, etc. So the thing is... I would like to be able to get printer ready bytes from a given source (maybe a pdf, or html, does not matter as long as it contains formatted text and/or images). It would be like "splitting" the print command like so: a) Open file and read data b) Load printer data into memory c) Send bytes to printer Obviously, I've got a) and c) covered, it's b) the one that's breaking my head. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance for your help.

  • How can you stream results as json string downloads?

    - by midas06
    I'm interested in presenting results faster in my mobile app. Is it possible to stream results out as the string downloads? I'm thinking about implementing an IObservable to push out the results as they are downloaded, but I don't know what algorithm to use to properly piece together the data which could be incomplete at any given point. Hope that was clear enough. CLARIFICATION: Guess it wasn't clear enough. My issue is the string downloaded is quite long. It can often take 15-20 seconds or more to download. I want to reflect changes faster to my user, so I would like to use reactive extensions to pump out entities as soon as a complete one is received. My issue is I dont know how to build the parser that can pick out complete entities from an incomplete response string.

  • How can you prevent a window being captured by Print-Screen?

    - by John
    I noticed a few times than when I print-screen while Media Player is running, the content is replaced with a grey rectangle. I've no idea if it's deliberate due to DRM, or some technical issue, but it struck me that being able to deliberately block screen-capture might be a useful feature in some scenarios. Is there some specific message each HWND gets for print-screen - does Windows do a special repaint or simply dump buffers to the clipboard? I guess I'd prefer to focus this on Win32 specifically, but as long as it's Windows-related then fine.

  • JPA GeneratedValue with GenerationType.TABLE does a big jump after jvm restart

    - by joeduardo
    When I start my server and add an entry, the generated id will start with 1, 2, so on and so forth. After a restart, adding an entry would generate an id like 32,xxx. Another restart and adding of entry would generate an id like 65,xxx. I don't know why this is happening. Here's a snippet of the annotation I'm using for my id. I'm using Hibernate. @Id @GeneratedValue(strategy = GenerationType.TABLE) private Long id;

    I have a server program running a java binary code (xx.jar file) While it is running I erranously delete the xx.jar file. The program continues to run. But I am not sure if the results will be correct, and I am not sure if the program will fail? When I delete the xx.jar file, the program was in a method for a long time and still it is in that method call. When it calls another method call will my program fail? I am asking this question because If deleting the file has no harm I will be gaining about 3-4h on a server machine
