• IIS 7 Authentication: Certain users can't authenticate, while almost all others can.

  I'm using IIS 7 Digest authentication to control access to a certain directory containing files. Users access the files through a department website from inside our network and outside. I've set NTFS permissions on the directory to allow a certain AD group to view the files. When I click a link to one of those files on the website I get prompted for a username and password. With most users everything works fine, but with a few of them it prompts for a password 3 times and then get: 401 - Unauthorized: Access is denied due to invalid credentials. But other users that are in the group can get in without a problem. If I switch it over to Windows Authentication, then the trouble users can log in fine. That directory is also shared, and users that can't log in through the website are able to browse to the share and view files in it, so I know that the permissions are ok. • ProcessAjaxOpenIdResponse doesn't exist in OpenAuth library?

  Using the NerdDinner 2.0 source code, I was trying to emulate its use of OpenID. All was fine and good until I ran into this line of code.. ( seen in the source code at : http://nerddinner.codeplex.com/sourcecontrol/network/Show?projectName=nerddinner&changeSetId=46375#952606 ) - ( trunk/nerddinner/services/OpenIdRelyingPartyService.cs ) public ActionResult ProcessAjaxOpenIdResponse() { return relyingParty.ProcessAjaxOpenIdResponse().AsActionResult(); } ProcessAjaxOpenIdResponse doesn't exist, though! If I download the nerddinner application and follow the dependancies, I can see that the OpenAuth library they use has this method. However, getting the newest version from http://www.dotnetopenauth.net/ - the library does not have this method. Any ideas on what happened to it, and what I should use instead?

• Cannot Start Nginx Compiled from Source

  I am trying to compile Nginx from source based on the original compiled Nginx server running on my DigitalOcean server ( Ubuntu-14.04 64x ) but with a few extra modules. I can get everything installed smoothly but I can not get it to start. I am sure the ini is correct because I copied the original source off the current running Nginx server [ Even though I see that Nginx now adds the ini when compiling fron source ]. And now to start the server: service nginx start And this is where s#!+ hits the fan - Nada. I check to see if Nginx is running with service --status-all and its not. Also with nginx -V and its not installed??? I reboot the system too and still nothing. So I am not sure what is wrong here. The ini was copied over from the old server along with all the other config files after deleting the old files. When I opened the new compiled files, the nginx default data was present so I replaced them with my old original data prior to starting the new server for the first time. Also to be safe, I rm /etc/nginx/sites-enabled/default and symlinked with ln -s /etc/nginx/sites-available/default /etc/nginx/sites-enabled/default with no errors and I verified that the data was in the sites-enabled/default file. I don't think the server really/fully installed because of the nginx -V result: The program 'nginx' can be found in the following packages: * nginx-core * nginx-extras * nginx-full * nginx-light * nginx-naxsi Try: apt-get install <selected package> Do/should I apt-get install nginx-1.7.4 ?? Or what package do I use being that its a custom package and make install earlier did nothing?? If you need to see the conf files I copied over from the old to the custom server, LMK and I'll post them. Again your help here would be appreciated!

I've been trying to use thesis hooks but appears that the php is stripped from the output. Help? Suggested alternatives? • JSON parser for J2ME

  I need a basic JSON parser that works with J2ME / CLDC 1.1. A Google search returns tons of answers on this (some even on stackoverflow), but it appears that all point to libraries and solutions that are no longer available (for example, lots point to an implementation that is supposed to be on the json.org site, but at least I can't find anything that isn't J2SE only there). My best hope so far is the source linked here: https://meapplicationdevelopers.dev.java.net/mobileajax.html, but from that one I can't even find a straight forward way to download the code. Given the mature state of Java in all other aspects, surely there must be somewhere I can get a pre-compiled JAR to use for parsing JSON from J2ME?

• Parsing RSS2.0 feeds using Pull Parser on Android

  I am trying to parse a RSS2.0 feed, obtained from a remote server, on my Android device using XML Pull Parser. // get a parser instance and set input,encoding XmlPullParser parser = Xml.newPullParser(); parser.setInput(getInputStream(), null); I am getting invalid token exceptions: Error parsing document. (position:line -1, column -1) caused by: org.apache.harmony.xml.ExpatParser$ParseException: At line 158, column 25: not well-formed (invalid token) Strangely, when I download the feed XML on the device, bundle it inside the raw folder and then run the same code. Everything works fine. What could be the problem here? How do I validate the XML before I parse it on device? Thanks.

  I want to create an application for Android that will be able to scan barcodes, get the information contained within the barcode and then be able to use that information in some way. • Easy_install of wxpython has "setup script" error.

  I have an install of python 2.5 that fink placed in /sw/bin/. I use the easy install command sudo /sw/bin/easy_install wxPython to try to install wxpython and I get an error while trying to process wxPython-src-2.8.9.1.tab.bz2 that there is not setup script. Easy-install has worked for several other installations until this one. Any help on why it's busting now? EDIT: The error occurs before dumping back to shell prompt. • Plastic SCM vs. SVN

  I'm currently researching new source control options for a team of 10 developers. We do .net development in Visual Studio 2008. We currently use VSS for source control. We are looking for a centralized source control solution(non-distributed), with a nice Visual Studio plugin. My manager has recommended Plastic SCM and I've always heard good things about Subversion. I'm trying to decide if we should adopt Subversion or Plastic SCM. There isn't much information out there about Plastic SCM (except what they've written) and I was wondering if it would be a good solution. They make it sound as if branching is much simpler. Subversion on the other hand has a robust, mature community, and it has been thoroughly field tested. What are the pros and cons to these tools? Also are there any other tools that you could suggest?   Hi everybody I'm pulling my hairs off since two days now because I'm trying to download an image from a website using HttpWebRequest. When I call the method "GetResponse" of that class, I get the WebException "Unable to connect to the remote server.".   We've been using Sharepoint as a poor man's bug tracking database for the last couple of projects that we did. No one is really happy with the solution so I'm looking for alternatives. I happened to stumble upon the Bug Database Template for Sharepoint. If it is halfway decent it might be a good choice for us since the transition would be smooth as the team is already used to Sharepoint. Anyone have any experience using this template? • Why does Mac OS X Software Update not work when machine uses Active Directory?

  My company's IT department is mostly a Windows run operation and in order to become more secure, they are altering the way that the Macintosh computers login to our internal network so that they use Active Directory like their Windows counterparts. I have been given Administrative permission on my Mac and I am able to do most of what I used to be able to do in terms of authentication of software installations. However, there is a problem: the "Software Update" feature doesn't work. What happens is that when I try to get the Mac to perform its Software Updates from the Apple menu, the normal window appears listing what has to be updated; I am able to select what to update and click the "Update" button, but then nothing happens. It doesn't ask for authentication like it used to, the computer doesn't perform any download or installation (it does sometimes ask me to agree to license agreements for iTunes). I can download the updates individually and install them without any issues, but the auto-update fails. I'd rather use the Software Update menu item like I used to: it is much more convenient. Any suggestions on how I can fix this? EDIT Nov 19th, 2009, 10:09 EST: I have posted this question to the Apple Mac OS X Snow Leopard support forum. EDIT Nov 19th, 2009, 12:39 EST:Yes, the Terminal command "sudo softwareupdate --install --all" does work flawlessly. I want to avoid that as my co-workers are generally not comfortable on the Mac. I also tried Chealion's suggestion to delete "~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.SoftwareUpdate.plist" and "/Library/Preferences/com.apple.SoftwareUpdate.plist", Software Update still fails. However, I did get diagnostic messages in the Console (below). I've deleted the MS Office Package Receipts and examined the suhelperd (Software Update Helper Daemon?); it appears that suhelperd is crashing and that explains why it doesn't work. • Netbeans autocomplete unusably slow/nonfunctional in Netbeans 6.8 Latest

  I'm running a 2.5Ghz C2D with 4GB RAM, so there's no reason hardwre-wise why Netbeans should be peforming so poorly. Using the latest Netbeans release and grails plugin (installed via the plugin manager), automcomplete is either too slow to use or doesn't work at all. If I'm within a class, and I attempt to auto-complete a field, it takes 3-4 seconds before being able to finish the field name. If I'm in a class of the same package (like a unit test), I can't get any of the properties to appear on the object. Furthermore, it says "Scanning in progress" for a full 5-6 seconds before pulling up the method list. Is there a way to fix this behavior?

• Where are the Entity Framework t4 templates for Data Annotations?

  I have been googling this non stop for 2 days now and can't find a single complete, ready to use, fully implemented t4 template that generates DataAnnotations. Do they even exist? I generate POCOs with the standard t4 templates. The actual database table has metadata that describes some of the validation rules, eg not null, nvarchar(25), etc. So all I want is a t4 template that can take my table and generate a POCO with DataAnnotations, eg public class Person { [Required] [StringLength(255)] public FirstName {get;set} } It is a basic and fundamental requirement, surely I can not be the first person in the entire world to have this requirement? I don't want to re-invent the wheel here. Yet I haven't found it after search high and low for days. This must be possible (and hopefully must be available somewhere to just download) - it would be criminally wrong to have to manually type in these annotations when the metadata for them already exists in the database.

I have my XML properly download from my webserver with a URL pointing to the server's file, however, when I detect the network is 'unreachable' I simply point the URL to my application's local XML and I get the following error (N.B. the file is a direct copy of the one on the server). I cannot find detail description, but I think it is saying that the URL is pointing to an inaccessible location. Am I storing this resource in the wrong location? I think I want it in the HomeDirectory / Library?? • VS 2010: Can’t insert mvvm-light snippet using shortcut - incompatibility with resharper 5???

  Hi there, i recently installed some snippets that come with the mvvm-light framework i am using. And sure enought i checked via Tools > Code Snippet Manager and they are installed under "My Code Snippets". If i do insert Snipper (right click in code window) or CTRL K + CTRL X then i can search within all available snippets.... But i do believe its possible to just type the shortcut key (in this case it is mvvmlocatorproperty) and pressing tab inserts the snippet BUT when i type the shortcut key it is not recognizing anything... What am i doing wrong?? This is not an incompatibility with resharper 5? - which i have installed Any ideas really appreciated

In a table based application, how can I use these up/down arrows to move through cells in the parent table? The apple "NavBar" sample code has an example of this but the controls are not functional. • Using WPFPerf to profile a WPF 4.0 application doesn't show me any information

  I am trying to use WPFPerf to profile a WPF 4.0 application (I have the latest WPFPerf that should work on WPF 4.0 aps). I start the tool Visual Profiler from WPFPerf, I start my aplication, but after that nothing happens and the element tree from the Visual Profiler is empty. No other error message is shown. Can anyone tell me what am I not doint right? As an additional information, when I try to analize my .exe assembly or any other assembly from my application, I get a BadFormatException saying that the assembly was build with a newer version of .NET.
