• Drupal 6: using too many Views module causing site to go down cos of too many mysql connection.

  Hi friends, I have HostGator Baby Shared Plan . I develop Drupal site on. everything was fine at the beginning, then by the time i go further with development, site started ti work really slow. now it is not working at all. giving my sql errors like TOO many connections, etc... I created so many blocks, pages with View. so it makes my site to so much depend on database. should not I do that? can it be the reason of my site's no working now. appreciate helps!!!!

• C++ obtaining milliseconds time on Linux -- clock() doesn't seem to work properly

  On Windows, clock() returns the time in milliseconds, but on this Linux box I'm working on, it rounds it to the nearest 1000 so the precision is only to the "second" level and not to the milliseconds level. I found a solution with Qt using the QTime class, instantiating an object and calling start() on it then calling elapsed() to get the number of milliseconds elapsed. I got kind of lucky because I'm working with Qt to begin with, but I'd like a solution that doesn't rely on third party libraries, Is there no standard way to do this? UPDATE Please don't recommend Boost .. If Boost and Qt can do it, surely it's not magic, there must be something standard that they're using!

• Launching a Facebook page from an iPhone app via QR code

  I'm trying to create a QR code that launches a Facebook page from the app, rather than the browser on both Android and iOS. Creating the code with fb://page/<page id>, works perfectly on an Android. This was also supposed to work with iOS's Facebook app, but I think since Facebook updated their app recently from a HTML5 version to a fully native iOS app, that functionality has stopped working. It indeed opens the Facebook app, but it does not go to the page. Has anyone else seen this happen since the app was updated a few weeks ago? And what string would I have to use to create a working QR Code for iOS's Facebook app?

  I'm still learning linq, now i'm getting confused. I need data for report from 3 tables, I get the result, but it's duplicate. I have used distinct but it's not working, n I need data to be sum still not working. • When using source control, what files should actually be commited?

  I am working on a small project, hosted on Google Code, using SVN for source control. This is my first time using source control, and I'm a bit confused about what I should actually be committing to the repository. My project is very simple: A Class Library project, written in C#. The actual code that I have written is a single file. My question is this: Should I be committing the entire project (including directories like Debug, Release, Properties, etc.) or just my main .cs file? Thanks, After fighting with Subversion for a while (note to self: do not reset repository), it looks like I finally have it working with the directories laid out properly. • Is it possible to place Joomla under revision control?

  We are a team of many developers working on a website that uses both Joomla and custom PHP scripts. The problem is that there are multiple developers working on various features which need to update information in Joomla (adding modules, changing existing ones or changing settings) and when one developer changes something, he usually makes the change locally first and then does the same thing (hopefully) on the production server. Not only that this is very error-prone, but the developers often forget to tell other developers about the changes. The custom PHP scripts are easily shared between developers, but the changes in Joomla are often forgotten and they lead to serious conflicts when a developer tries to replicate his local changes in production. I have thought about placing Joomla in a Mercurial repository, but how could we distribute the changes in the database between the development, the testing and the production machines?

• Different animations for Jquery ui tabs

  I'm using jquery ui tabs widget. I've not used a jquery theme as i prefer to do my own css and stuff. I've got it working, but what i'd like is to have a different animation effect for the tab content when a different tab is clicked. What i'd like is for the new tab content to slide in from the left. At the moment i have: $("#tabs").tabs({ fx: {slide: 'slow' } }); }); I know the code above is just slide and not slide left but it doesn't even do a slide! I have downloaded the slide effects as part of my custom ui download. I don't know why it isn't working! Is it some css that i'm lacking?! I don't know!!!

• XUL: create menu items dynamically and set "selected" attr

  I have a firefox extension Options pref panel, where I should dynamically create menu items and select particular item to be current. here is the XUL file part <menulist id="rss_service_combo"> <menupopup id="rss_service_menu"/> </menulist> Then in load event of the pref panel, using js I append menuitem elements into menupop. This is working fine. The only problem is that even if I set the selected element the item is not selected and combo box is initially empty. The only way is working at the moment is if I manually add those menuitems into XUL file and set selected attribute, but I need to do it dynamically.

• Jquery Accordion and multiple slideshows

  I've been using a lot of slideshows recently on my sites and one thing thats puzzled me is using more than one slideshow per page. I'm currently working on my own site, experimenting with Jquery Accordion. I've managed to adopt a very simple javascript slideshow, see below: http://dvpwebdesign.com/test/accordion/blank.html However i'm unable to either incorporate or use a different multiple slideshow plugin. I dont need slideshow navigation, so the The Cycle plugin works really well and i know you can use multiple slideshows. But if i either use Cycle alongside the current javascript slideshow, or only use the Cycle slideshow to avoid any possible conflict, the Accordion menu stops working. I just cant see what i am doing wrong, can anyone help?

• Parse a CSV file extracting some of the values but not all.

  Good day, I have a local csv file with values that change daily called DailyValues.csv I need to extract the value field of category2 and category4. Then combine, sort and remove duplicates (if any) from the extracted values. Then save it to a new local file NewValues.txt. • x86 Assembly - printf doesn't print without "\n"

  So I'm confused. I'm going through the book "Programming from the Ground Up" and am working with using libraries. printf is working just fine so long as I include a "\n" in the string, but without it it will print absolutely nothing. Any idea why this happens? • What is the fastest (to access) struct-like object in Python?

  I'm optimizing some code whose main bottleneck is running through and accessing a very large list of struct-like objects. Currently I'm using namedtuples, for readability. I ran each several times, to make sure no random system event had thrown them off, and the results were almost identical. It would appear that dictionaries offer the best balance between performance and readability, with classes coming in second. This is unfortunate, since, for my purposes, I also need the object to be sequence-like; hence my choice of namedtuple. Lists are substantially faster, but constant keys are unmaintainable; I'd have to create a bunch of index-constants, i.e. KEY_1 = 1, KEY_2 = 2, etc. which is also not ideal. Am I stuck with these choices, or is there an alternative that I've missed?

• Mysterious logging.basicConfig problem (Python)

  I'm writing a Python script to retrieve data from Flickr. For logging purposes, I have the following setup function: def init_log(logfile): format = '%(asctime)s - %(levelname)s - %(message)s' logging.basicConfig(filename=logfile,level=logging.DEBUG,format=format) I've tested this using the python shell and it works as expected, creating a file if one doesn't already exist. But calling it from within my program is where it stops working. The function is definitely being called, and the logfile parameter is working properly – logging.basicConfig just isn't creating any file. I'm not even getting any errors or warnings. My use of the Python Flickr API may be the culprit, but I doubt it. Any ideas?

• acts_as_ferret with multiple hosts

  I've got everything working with ferret and acts_as_ferret for development (or localhost DRb), but I can't get my multiple host deployment working. All of the remote systems get ECONNREFUSED when accessing the port. On the ferret server, the daemon is listening on localhost only despite the configuration listing the FQDN as the host. I also tried switching to a UNIX socket to share data between the ferret DRb daemon and the app code but it too gets ECONNREFUSED. (The socket is available to all of the machines via an NFS mount). Is there a better way to do this or should I be looking for another search indexer? Thanks.

• headers already sent displays after moving files from one server to another

  hey there! I have a project running on dreamhost hosting and it's working fine, but since DH has been getting really slow I'm moving the project to my new dedicated server. The thing is that after I move all of my file over to the new dedicated (ubuntu 8.4) I get see warnings all over the place telling me that the headers had been already sent. The first thing I tried was moving the files via FTP: download to my machine, upload to server - Didn't worked Second try was tar.gz the folder on the first server and untar it on the new one, didn't worked either I tried chaing enconding to ANSI and they start working, however most of my files contain accents so ANSI is not an option for all my files i need UTF8 Any ideas on how to fix this? I'm sure it must be some sort of config

What is each part doing? Functionally, the animation makes visible a series of pictures, then the whole site. I want to skip the animation and just make the whole site visible(if cookies='visited'). I'd like to do this without rewriting the animation script. here's a link. What happens now is if you have the cookie the animation doesn't run and everything is hidden.

  I am working on a project with many someInterface - someInterfaceImpl-pairs. Some days ago I got the idea (probably inspired by reading some objective c code) to include the default implementations as an inner class. Now some colleagues (all with much more java experience than me) saw this idea - feedback was between shocked and surprised ("this is working?"). I googled around a bit but didn't find much evidence of usefulness of this "pattern" (personal i like it): pdf-paper and a faq about code style What do you think - especially in those cases where an "default" implementation is tightly coupled to an interface.   I am trying a database app on Android. I want to use the SQLiteDatabase update(...) convenience method to update a record. Normally, for a WHERE clause of a single key this is working. • wxPython formatting questions

  I have an app I was working on to learn more about wxPython( I have been primarily been a scripter ). I forgot about it now I am opening it back up. It's a screen scraper, and I have it working almost the way I want it, going to build a regex parser to strip out the links in every scrape that I don't need. The questions I have are this. In it current state, if I check more than one site, it goes out and scrapes, and returns it in separate windows, the for:each section in the Clicked function. I want to put them in a frame, in the window, altogether. I also want to know if I can take the list they are read into and send it to a checklist, so someone could check off separate items, I want to build a save function and keep certain ones. In regards to a save function, I want to keep saved checks, are there calls to the widgets to save their states? I know it's a lot, but thanks for the help.
