  • Release Notes for 3/8/2012

    Here are the notes for today’s release: Clarified the purpose of the fork name when creating a fork of a project. Added confirmation messages to deletion of system requirements when editing documentation. Deployed several bug fixes: Fixed an issue that was causing AppHarbor build notifications to fail. Thanks to claq2 for the bug report! Fixed several issues where extremely long titles or descriptions on items on the issues, discussions, profiles, and home pages would not wrap properly. Fixed a minor wrapping issue around the link to upload patches. Fixed an issue with viewing RSS feeds in Internet Explorer.   • Using Git with TFS projects

    If you having been following the updates to CodePlex over the last several months you will have noticed that we added support for Git source control. It is important to the CodePlex team to enable developers to use the source control system that supports their development style whether it is distributed version control or centralized version control. There are many projects on CodePlex that are using TFS centralized version control. But we continue to see more and more developers interested in using Git. Last week Brian Harry announced a new open source project called Git-TF. Git-TF is a client side bridge that enabled developer to use Git locally and push to a remote backed by Team Foundation version control. Git-TF also works great for TFS based projects on CodePlex. You may already be familiar with git-tfs. Git-TFS is a similar client side bridge between Git and TFS. Git-TFS works great if you are on Windows since it depends on the TFS .Net client object model. Git-TF adds the ability to use a Git to TFS bridge on multiple platforms since it is written in Java. You can use it on Mac OS X, Linux, and Windows, etc. Since you are connecting to a TFS Server when using Git-TF make sure you use your CodePlex TFS account name: snd\YOUR_USERNAME_cp along with your password.     Below are the release notes for today's deployment. Source Tab Improvements Revamped fork navigation to make it more clear that you are within a fork verses the parent project. Infrastructure Updated CodePlex to ASP.Net MVC 4.0. RTM+1 how's that for a turnaround? Bug Fixes Fixed a set of user experience issues with the in-line diff view experience. Fixed issue with date mismatches between UTC and local time for discussions and issue tracker Fixed issue where new issues would not show up in search results.   • Classic vs universal and loss of historical data

    I'm keen to use some of the new features in Google Universal Analytics. I have an old site though that I don't want to lose the historical data for. The comparisons with historical data are interesting for example. However Google doesn't appear to allow you to change a property from the classic code to the new code. Am I missing something? I'm surprised this isn't a bigger issue for many other users.
