  • jQuery innerHTML does not work properly (!)

    I was trying to build an <a> tag and set it in a <td> of a table. The string is built perfectly but when I set this as the innerHTML using jQuery, the string gets broken. I can't figure out why this is happening? Any clues?   • jQuery plugin to have Facebook styled search box with image thumbnails?

    Hello everyone: I will work on a search box with inspiration from Facebook where image thumbnails would be displayed besides the auto-suggested matches. This is the goal : link to sample image I wonder if there is any jQuery plugin that would just do this. I tried to search for a one but unable to find. If there is no plugin for this task, I'd like to know the basic plugins needed to implemented such an auto-suggest/image thumbnail display combination. Any suggestion and hint is welcomed.   • Broken JS Loop with Google Maps...

    My code is below, and I had an issue with nearly the same code, and it was fixed here on StackOverflow, but, again, its not working. I haven't changed the working code, but i did wrap it in the for...in loop youll see below.   • javasrcipt asyncronous function

    Hi there, i have a problem understanding how this could/should be solved. I have two functions. In the first function ( I call it loadData() ) I'm doing an asyncronous request to the server to load some data. In the second function ( saveData() ) I'm also doing an asyn request to the server to write some data. In the callback of this request I'm callin loadData() to refresh the data. Now the problem: In the saveData() function I want to wait for loadData() to be finished bevore I show a dialog (like alert('Data saved')) I guess this is a common problem, but I couldn't find the solution for it (if there is one..) A solution would be to make the requests syncronous, but the framework I'm using doesn't offer that and I hope there's a better solution.. Thanks to all!

    Merry Christmas guys, I found a code that displays a loading message using a gif. It uses the onLoad="init()" in the body tag. It works fine on an HTML file but it doesn't when the file is in PHP.   • Use variables to decide which object in an array gets an attribute?

    I have a web app which has two text areas. When one text area receives a mousedown event, a variable "side" is set, either "left" or "right." When a user selects some text in a text area, three strings are made. One for the text before the beginning of the selection, the selection itself, and the text after the selection to the end. A function is set to return these like this: return { head: head_text, tail: tail_text, sel: sel_text, side: text_side } Now, I have created an array, and I want it to appear in such a way that we get, text.left({"head":"four score", "selection":"and seven", "tail":"years ago."}) I am assuming I would do this by text.side = getSelection(), but how do I get it to evaluate the variable "side" instead of thinking of it as an object within "text"? EDIT: Ok, just to clarify, I might be completely wrong in my ideas in how this works, but here it goes. I want to make it so that a function can look at "text" see within text two objects, "left" and "right," and then evaluate the head, sel, and tail of each object. Would it be easier for me to use two objects?

    I am trying to get an dynamically created element using a jQuery selector but it is returning an empty array. The first thing I am doing is grabbing an empty div: var packDiv = document.getElementById('templates'); packDiv.innerHTML = ""; then adding items to it in a loop: packDiv.innerHTML = packDiv.innerHTML + "<img id='" + thumbName + "' src='thumbs/" + thumbName + "'/>"; after the loop finishes I try to select an item using: console.log($("#"+thumbName)); and it returns the empty array. All the things I search on show to use .on but all the examples show that is to set event handlers. My question is how do I format a selector for dynamically created elements?

    OK, I was reading an article on optimising JS for Googles V8 engine, when i saw this code example... I nearly skimmed over it, but then I saw this; |=; a[0] |= b; a = new Array(); a[0] = 0; for (var b = 0; b < 10; b++) { console.log(a, b) a[0] |= b; // Much better! 2x faster. } a[0] |= b; So I ran it, in my console, with a console.log in the loop and resulted in 15; [15] 0 [15] 1 [15] 2 [15] 3 [15] 4 [15] 5 [15] 6 [15] 7 [15] 8 [15] 9 WHAT?!?! Where the hell does it get 15 from, on every iteration?!?!?! I've been a web dev for 7 years, and this has stumped me and a fellow colleague. Can somebody talk me through this code? Cheers.

    Could someone point me in the right direction here? So it's actually within a click handler. If I understand this correctly, this snippet takes the source if the image I just clicked and strips it so I end up with only the filename. If I do an alert(filename), I get the filename only. So this is working ok. But then, it does an ajax call to a php file called "save_to_db.php" and sends data: filename. This is correct right? Then, it does a callback which does an alert + data. Does this seem correct so far? Cause my php file looks like this: <?php require("dbconnect2.php"); $uploadstring = $_POST['filename']; $sessionid = $_SESSION['id']; echo ($sessionid); mysql_query("UPDATE brukere SET brukerBakgrunn = '$uploadstring' WHERE brukerID=" .$_SESSION['id']); mysql_close(); ?> When I click the image, the jQuery snippet fires and I get the results of this php file as output for the alert box. I think that the variables somehow are empty. Because notice the echo($sessionid); which is a variable I've created just to test what the session ID is. And it returns nothing. What could be the issue here? Edit: I just tried to echo out the $uploadstring variable as well and it also returns nothing. It's like the jQuery snippet doesn't even pass the variable on to the php file?

  • Write Local File using Adobe Air Iframe

    This is driving me mad. I am creating an AIR application and everything is working great. However I would really like to have a form inside an Iframe that when the user clicks submit saves the file to local application storage directory. Right now I am able to do this and save the file with no problems when I just access the HTML page not inside an Iframe. However if I wrap the page in an iframe and hit submit the file does not save. Any code examples would be very much appreciated.   • Image input onclick event being fired when enter button Pressed

    I have a strange problem where an onclick event on an input image is being fired when i hit enter in input text box <form id="MyForm" action="/someaction"> <input type="image" src="someimage.jpg" onclick="doStuff();$('#MyForm').submit();" /> <input type="text" name="textInput"/> </form> When the cursor is in the text box and i hit enter, rather than the form being submitted it calls the onclick event on the image input. Any ideas whats going on ?

  • Load Globalize cultures with Node.js?

    I'm using jQuery Globalize with Node.js. They have a package.json file so I can simply use it as a module and require it. However, it doesn't load all cultures by default. I was wondering what the proper way to load a culture would be? I could go and do something like require('./node_modules/globalize/lib/cultures/globalize.culture.es-US.js') and load the file directly, but that doesn't seem too elegant. Is there a "proper" way to do this?

  • history.go(-1) function not refreshing server side controls

    hi, I am using a dropdown, a devexpress grid view and a button on my page. My gropdown contains the months in the format MM/YYYY, and on dropdown's selection change the data binds in the grid view. the functionality of button is to go on previous page as same as back button of browser. Now, my prob is that if i select any month and then select another month, the data changes. but now when i click on back button having onclick ="history.go(-1)", changes the data on the grid view but the month in the dropdown remains the same. For example: Suppose, first i have month selected as 02/2010 At this time the data in grid view is for exapmle 01234 now when i select month 03/2010 the data in grid changes to 56789 now when i click on back button, then data in grid changes to 01234 but the month in dropdown remains to 03/2010.   • How can I keep a div's scrollbar at the bottom of the div using jQuery?

    I have a div called #output, styled with overflow: scroll;. Using jQuery.ajax, it's being updated every x second. I'd like to have it so that when the scrollbar appears (after the divs filled up), it should continously stay at the bottom of the div instead of the top, like most chat clients do.
