• Entity Object Extension in Oracle Application R12

  In this blog I will explain how to perform Entity Object ( EO ) Extension.As a prerequisite please read my previous blog.I am doing this exercise based on PL/SQL EO. Following attributes are part of FndUserEO. Here I will add a validation to UserName attribute "Length should be > 5". Following steps need to perform. 1) Download all files of  "Entity Object Based on PL/SQL" to JDEV_USER_HOME/myprojects and JDEV_USER_HOME/myclasses.If you want to see the content of source java file decompile it and save it in JDEV_USER_HOME/myprojects. 2) Create new Entity Object XXFndUserEO as follows. Include all attributes of parent EO. 3) Add the validation code snippet to XXFndUserEOImpl.java as follows. 4) Create the substitution as follows. 5) Migrate files to $JAVA_TOP. xxcustom.oracle.apps.fnd.user.schema.server.XXFndUserEOImpl.javaxxcustom.oracle.apps.fnd.user.schema.server.XXFndUserEO.xml 6) Migrate the substitution.. 7) Bounce the server. 8) Verify the substitution has applied properly. Access Create User Page and create a User. You can see the validation message if user name length is less than 5. Give User Name as XXCUST4 and verify the table.   The FND_USER has created successfully.

• Trac/SVN to DVCS Migration

  The project I'm currently working on is using Trac, with SVN integration. It's worked great until now. Now, however, we've taken on some additional developers and we're running into issues with branching and merging. Because of this, I think a move to a distributed version control system is in order. The problem is that Trac is very closely integrated with the SVN repository. We have tight integration between the tickets and the revision numbers of code changes corresponding to those tickets. In addition we have a support wiki that has a lot of data that helps the tech. support team. Is there a way we can migrate to git or mercurial without losing the benefits of Trac? I've looked at the git plugin for Trac, and I'm unsure of how well it works. Has anyone here used it with a project that's been migrated from SVN? EDIT: I should note that the most important priority for us is maintaining the links between Trac tickets and the corresponding changesets in SVN. That's a tool that we use every day, and it provides an easy way to jump to code changes when reviewing tickets. Wiki migration would be nice to have, but if it's not possible, we can continue to run the old system whilst we write some kind of a one-off script to migrate the content.

• Cry Engine 3 vs UDK

  I'm new here and I hope that other people may find this question interesting. Me and a bunch of guys from my University are thinking about getting started in game development, but, even though the game design is kind of ready, we are stucked at the point "which Engine should we choose". At first, we were thinking about Unity3D Free, in particular because we are pretty familiar with C# and, even better, it's completely free, but on the other hand there are some cons like no dynamic shadowing that make the realization of our game kinda hard. So, we are thinking about moving either to UDK or Cry Engine, since they are not as expensive as Unity3D Pro (at least before the game deployment) . The thing we are worried the most, though, is that we are kind of scared about the support for team work(i mean, that we might find it hard to coordinate our efforts without software support), since in Unity3D the team features are part of purchasable content, and we are not interested in paying that much for a project we are not even sure we can complete. So, finally, I hope one of you knows the mentioned engines enough to give us a tip telling which one offers better team features and is advisable for guys that have barely worked before on videogames but have good object oriented programming skills. Probably might be helpful for your suggestion, if i say that our game is an exploration game. Thanks to anybody who's going to answer.

• Practical way to set up an email inbox for testing?

  I need to test a high-volume email application. Up to now, I've just been using gmail ad-hoc aliases ([email protected]) to receive emails and see that the content is right. However, I now need to verify a recipient list, which means I need to get every single email that goes out on a particular test run. The problem with Google isn't clear, but there's some throttling somewhere (perhaps from SendGrid, who is my delivery provider), and only a very small number of those emails ever make it to my acount. So: what's a practical way to get where I want to be? Is there a way to get gmail to just accept everything? Is there a web app / service somewhere that will let me throw up a fake email address that can receive for a large number of recipients? Is there something else?

• Migrating domains - 301 Redirect of all contents of directory

  I need to do a 301 redirect with apache since I'm migrating domains. What I would need to do is the following, from certain directories, redirect all of it's content to a different damin (where the file already exists). Let's say I have one.com/files/something.doc or one.com/files/other.php I have already "copied" or "backed up" all the contents of the directory, so the following already exist: two.com/old/files/something.doc and two.com/old/files/other.php So I would just need to redirect anything in the directory "files" (or whatever). I hope the question is clear enough, if not please ask for any clarification needed!! Thanks in advance!!

  I am designing, implementing, testing, and debuging a GUI-based version of a “Hello, World!” program in a JFrame that includes a JLabel that reads “Hello, World!” and I am trying to use a layout manager, and an Exit button to close the program. • Samba issue with sharing directories on NTFS/FAT32 (Mounted Drives) ???

  Hi guys, I have some strange problems with Samba server. I am using samba Version 3.5.4 on Ubuntu 10.10. I have two windows-xp machines, one on VirtualBox on Ubuntu and another office laptop. Windows machine on VBox has no issues in accessing the shared folders, but the laptop is not able to access all the shared content. The issue faced on laptop is = Shared folders on Ext3 drives have no issues in accessing, but the contents shared on NTFS and FAT32 drives (mounted ones) are not accessible. When I try to open the shared folder, it asks for user name and password, but doesn't accept when I provide it. (even if I provide admin login details!!!). I changed workgroup value to the domain_name in office laptop, but still the problem persists... Here is the smdb.conf I am using... • linux ftp server with virtual users

  i know there are already similar questions for this matter but the answers doesn't really make much sense to anyone who is not really technically comfortable in Linux. I've already tried articles like these for example: http://howto.gumph.org/content/setup-virtual-users-and-directories-in-vsftpd/ with the result of accidently breaking the whole system. The problem is that, while there are several technical possibilities to set up virtual users with a FTP server, it is not as easy as managing for instance a Filezilla server on Windows. I've seen some Web based GUI's but most of them seems to be out of date. The different flavours of Linux and the large amount of different popular FTP servers also seems to make the matter more complicated. I guess my question is, is there a way, to set up virtual FTP users on Linux without the hastle of having to manually edit PAM, MYSQL and config files?

• How to factorize code in Unreal Kismet (i.e. "Material Function"s for Kismet)

  In the Unreal Development Kit, when using the Material Editor, one can factorize frequently-used groups of nodes by creating a Material Function (content Browser ? right-click ? new matrial function, IIRC). When defining the behaviour of some actor in Kismet, one can easily have a dozen nodes involved. If I have many actors that share the same behaviour, then I'll copy-paste these nodes, and change the variables so they point to the other actors. This leads to inconsistencies (a modification in the behaviour of an actor isn't propagated in the copy-pasted nodes), complexity (you end up with hundreds of nodes), and generally useless effort. My question is : Can I create a "kismet function", just like a material function ? Note: I'd rather avoid using UnrealScript. I don't even know where to type UnrealScripts, don't know where the documentation is and more generally don't have enough time to invest in learning UnrealScript. This "kismet function" feature must be usable by graphists (with little programming knowledge). If a (simple) script suffices to add this feature in the Kismet editor, so that one can create several "functions" without using UnrealScript, then fine, but I don't really want to have to write a script each time I want to factorize a few nodes.   I'm moving my notes to evernote. To this end I need to convert .doc/.docx files to rtf. The reason for this is that I have a script to import rtf into evernote. However, some of my .doc/.docx files contain images. Is there any way to identify which .doc/.docx files contain images without viewing them all? I have thousands. This way I can simply open the few that have images and copy/paste the entire content straight into evernote. Should say that I'm using OS X 10.6.8.

• Web server replica not working in other server

  I have a Drupal installation (php+mysql) in a server, and I'm trying to copy this installation to another server with the same configuration, same physical and virtual path, same db configuration, etc. The thing is, in my new server I get the homepage to work, but not the inner pages, so I guess has something to do with rewrite (mod_rewrite is installed) (both .htaccess are the same). When I access http://localhost/myweb/content/mypage I get a 404 or a "Forbidden" if I uncomment this in httpd.conf (original httpd.conf does not have this entry): <Directory path/to/docs"> DirectoryIndex index.php index.html Options Indexes FollowSymLinks AllowOverride None Order allow,deny Allow from all </Directory> Any clue? • Trouble getting PHP, Apache, and Zend talking to eachother (localhost)

  Hi guys, I've searched through several other questions, but haven't found my solution. THe main reason is that I'm not even sure if I have all these things properly installed. I have a hosting account, and have always just deployed everything into the internets, but I'm finally trying to figure out how to get my desktop set up right for learning Zend Framework. I have Apache Server 2.2, PHP, And Zend Framework installed. I'm trying to do this tutorial: http://akrabat.com/wp-content/uploads/Getting-Started-with-Zend-Framework.pdf The problem is when I click on the link: http://localhost/zf-tutorial/public I get an Error 404. If I type in http://www.localhost I get "It Works!" in the browser. I'm thinking this means I have Apache installed correctly, but am not pointing correctly to the Zend tutorial? • How to tell start-stop-daemon to update $HOME and $USER accordingly to --chuid parameter

  I'm trying to run a service that uses $HOME and $USER environment variables. I could set them in service itself, but that would only be a temporary solution. Let's say I have a script test.sh with following content: echo $USER And I run it with start-stop-daemon to see my results: $ start-stop-daemon --start --exec `pwd`/test.sh --user guest --group guest --chuid -guest root Seems like it does not update environment, maybe that should be reported as a bug? I have found a nasty hacky solution, which only works (for unknown reason) on my this simple use case: $ start-stop-daemon --exec /usr/bin/sudo --start -- -u guest -i 'echo $USER' guest I'm sure someone else stumbled upon this, I'm interested in clean solution. $ start-stop-daemon --version start-stop-daemon 1.13.11+gentoo

• Password not working for sudo ("Authentication failure")

  Before I mention anything further, DO NOT give me a response saying that terminal won't show password input. I'm AWARE of that. I'm typing my user password in (not a capslock issue), and for some reason it still says 'Authentication Failure'. Is there some other password (one I'm not aware of) I'm supposed to be using other than my user password? I've had this ubuntu before, on another hard drive and I didn't have this problem. • Directing Multiple ccTLD's to 1 gTLD with a country specific subdirectory?

  We have multiple ccTLDomains and are thinking about how to best combine these into one. We want to do this to focus our link building efforts. We are running a website through which we offer a software-as-a-service. Therefore we could potentially sell to any country in the world. However, Germany is our most important market. We currently have a .com, .de, .nl. and .pl domain. All these domains have a high amount of unique content pages. What we are planning is to change everything to .com with language-based subdirectories, so .com/en/, .com/de/, etc. I have two questions concerning this issue: 1) How much of an advantage does a ccTLD have over a gTLD with country specific subdirectories in search rankings? So let’s say .de versus .com/de/? 2) How could we best redirect the visitors of our old ccTLD’s to our gTLD’s subdirectories? We would like to loose as few search engine rankings as possible. • Apache Web Server character encoding

  I've recently transferred my webapp from my localhost (LH) to a VPS, and have had hebrew chars-encoding probs since. Whenever I send a request with a heb-char it results in "?????" saved to the DB. My LH config was tomcat6, MySQL, and centOS 6.2, opened to the web. In the VPS env I'm behind an Apache Web Server, and the rest is quite the same (though I haven't done anything to its installation). Please note I already have had this problem before, on my LH when the request was sent from IE/chrome (not FF!). The solution was to apply a filter on the the context and change the char-type to UTF-8. My webapp content char-encode is utf-8, MySql server set to utf8 using charset utf8;, and my centOS set to iw_IL.UTF8 using export LANG=iw_IL.UTF8. When I use locale the bash output seems to be set correctly. Any suggestions?

  I'm trying to get Thunderbird working in such a way that it will properly work with Kolab groupware. For that I need it to be in a fixed setup of Thunderbird and add-ons (Lightning, SyncKolab) without automatic updates and I need to present version of Thunderbird to be available for the users. What I hope to achieve is that the repository for Thunderbird as it is now on http://ppa.launchpad.net/mozillateam/thunderbird-stable/ will be available on my local server so I always use that version even if Thunderbird goes to a new stable version. What I hope to achieve is this: - I copy the content of http://ppa.launchpad.net/mozillateam/thunderbird-stable/ to my server - I make it available as a repository on my network I neither know if this is possible or allowed under the license etc.

• Google Analytics: Do unique events report as unique visits when triggered on pages other than your own domain?

  We just recently attached a SWF to our Brightcove video player to report various events back to Google Analytics. We're also tracking page views with a standard GA snippet on the page where the player is embedded. As I understand it, because a unique has already been recorded for the page, any event being triggered by the player is getting associated with that unique. However, we allow people to embed the video player on other websites. All of the event data started pouring into the Events section as expected, but we noticed a dramatic uptick in unique visitors on the site (nearly double) while the pageview count stayed relatively unchanged. Disabling event tracking brought the traffic back down to average levels. I should also add that in the Pages section of Event tracking we're seeing URLs for other sites where the player has been embedded; but this data isn't showing up in the Content section. It seems counterintuitive, but does GA count an event fired as a unique visit even if it's triggered from some place other than your website? Is so, there any way to trigger an event in the events section without it reporting to the unique visitor count?

  I have written a macro to remove special characters in a sheet based on ascii values but the problem with it is that it is replacing the cell content. For example p;j;h which should become p,j,h is becoming ,, (missing the data).
