  • Can Settings bundle use values from application's Info.plist file?

    Hi, is it possible to use values from application's Info.plist file as DefaultValue value for items in Settings.bundle? For example CFBundleVersion. I've tried entering it as ${CFBundleVersion} but it didn't work. I've also tried changing DefaultValue type but with no success. Any ideas? The reasons behind are simple: CFBundleVersion is known at compile time, so I won't have to take its value from application's mainBundle and then apply that value to NSUserDefaults. Other reason is that just after installing the app, but before running it, Settings bundle values are not in-sync as the code setting NSUserDefaults did not have a chance to execute itself... so it would be boring to always remember that I have to change my Settings bundle values manually.

  • UITableView with multiple selections

    I have a UITableView with multiple selections enabled. If I select items and scroll the list back and forth they are remembered and shown and selected (blue background). Using the didDeselectRowAtIndexPath and didSelectRowAtIndexPath I am able to keep my own array of selected items. That part works well. However, if I then use the sectionForSectionIndexTitle and jump to a letter, the selection appears to be forgotten - even indexPathForSelectedRows appears to have been reset and is now empty. My own array remembers that an item is selected and I can set the cell.selected in the cellForRowAtIndexPath but the instant I move the list it is forgotten again. Any ideas? Is this a bug, or how do you retain the selection list when jumping to a letter?

  • Static keyboard in uitableview

    I have a UITableView that holds just two cells with a textfield in each. As my tableview is just for editing the text in these textfields I always want the keyboard to be shown static in the bottom of the screen. So in viewDidLoad I set the first textfield to become first responder. Something I have noticed though is that when I push the UITableViewController into the UINavigationController the keyboard show up a little bit slower so you can see it animate into the screen. It would be much better if it was there already there when the uitableview shows up. I also tried making the textfield first responder before pushing it as recommended but that didn't made the keyboard show at all: MyTableViewController *myTableViewController = [[MyTableViewController alloc] initWithNibName:@"MyTableViewController" bundle:nil]; [myTableViewController.textField becomeFirstResponder]; [self.navigationController pushViewController:myTableViewController animated:YES]; [myTableViewController release]; How can I accomplish this?   • Is there a way to automatically update application on Android?

    Hi, I'm developing an application that will most likely be preinstalled on devices. It will be also available on Market. Is there a way to update those instances that are not downloaded through Market, since Market won't notify users about an update. I was thinking about, as suggested here, trying to contact my site periodically, and when update is available, download it. I'm wondering if there is a way to do this update automatically, so that user doesn't have to do anything (like running the package manually). Or, when my site shows update is available, to offer users an update through Market, even though it's not installed through Market. Thanks!

  • Make service indepented from activity (Android).

    I have an activity with two buttons, start and stop. If the user press the start button a service is created using Context.startService. And the stop button calls Context.stopService. I want the stop button to be the only way to destroy the service. Now, if i end the activity using a task manager, the service is killed as well. Is there any way to avoid this?

I'm not good at this geometry math stuff and especially at english so what I want to say is: If you have two sheets of paper on the desk, and one of them covers the other either completely or just a small portion, it is rectsIntersect = YES.     Hello. I'm using Core Data and I'm trying to figure out the simplest way to store an array of integers in one of my Core Data entities. Currently, my entities contain various arrays of objects that are more complex than a single number, so it makes sense to represent those arrays as tables in my DB and attach them using relationships. If I want to store a simple array of integers, do I need to create a new table with a single column and attach it using a one-to-many relationship? Or is there a more simple way?   • Have my UIPickerView having the same behavior than the keyboard.

    Hi. So I have a UITableView where one of its rows is a UITextView. When the user is writing something to UITextView (using the keyboard) the user can scroll the tableview and select another cell. Everything works. When the user selects another cell, a datePicker appears, and the user can select a given date. I want the user to be able to scroll the tableView the same way like when the keyboard is on the screen. The problem here is that when I scroll with the picker, the table bounces back to the previous position (with some cells hidden by the picker). I assume that this happens because I add the picker to the main window, as a subview... but I'm honestly not sure... Where (and how) should I add my picker so that it "appears" where the keyboard appears? Not sure I was clear... Thanks a lot.

  • Sending data between activities within my app?

    Hi, I have a TabActivity, and the tabs point to sub activities. Is there a way I can send a 'message' to those child activities? I just want to pass a string across, not sure if this is possible. I have some data being fetched by the parent TabActivity, and the child tabs can't do anything useful until the parent is done fetching. When fetching is complete, I'd like to pass that data to the child activities so they can do something useful with it. Notmally I'd set the data to be passed in the Intent when first creating the activity, but in this case I can't do that. Thanks

  • Fake location for the device (custom)

    I know there are a few apps out there to fake a devices location but specifically what i want to do is use a location grabbed from a url. What direction should I look for setting the location on the device. The scenario i have is a jailbroken Wi-Fi iPad tethered to a nexus one. The nexus one would host a background service that when a request is recieved, it would respond with gps data of its current location. The jailbroken ipad would have a background service that either updated the location on a time interval, or on a per request basis (depending on how i have to implement it) by submitting a request to the tethered nexus one service. That data would then be set on the ipad and an application requesting location would get the service data. The goal is to recreate the location faker app's functionality with the exception of the spoofed location comes from the nexus ones gps via the service but i have not yet found out how to set the location data for the device. I can ofcourse implement this in a per app basis but it would be awesome to have any app be able to use it.

  • iOS - Prompt User to Update to Latest App Version

    Is there any method or plugin available that will alert the user to upgrade an app if the version they are using is not the latest? I suppose I could ping a web service to check what the current version is and compare with the user's version and go from there. As an aside, is there a way to check the current version of the app (some property I don't know about) or do you simply have to hardcode the version as some float variable or something? Thanks

  • UiScrollView with scrolling content

    I have a detail page of type UIScrollView. On it I want an optional UIImageView and a mandatory UITextView. If no image is available then the image view should not take any space. The text for the text view can be of varying sizes. When the view is loaded with, say, the image and the text I need to be able to scroll through all the contents. So the image slips off the top of the screen. I just can't get this work and I feel it ought to be easy. Any ideas?
