  • ViewGroup{TextView,...}.getMeasuredHeight gives wrong value is smaller than real height.

    - by Dewr
    ViewGroup(the ViewGroup is containing TextViews having long text except line-feed-character).getMeasuredHeight returns wrong value... that is smaller than real height. how to get rid of this problem? here is the java code: ;public static void setListViewHeightBasedOnChildren(ListView listView) { ListAdapter listAdapter = listView.getAdapter(); if (listAdapter == null) { // pre-condition return; } int totalHeight = 0; int count = listAdapter.getCount(); for (int i = 0; i < count; i++) { View listItem = listAdapter.getView(i, null, listView); listItem.measure(View.MeasureSpec.AT_MOST, View.MeasureSpec.UNSPECIFIED); totalHeight += listItem.getMeasuredHeight(); } ViewGroup.LayoutParams params = listView.getLayoutParams(); params.height = totalHeight + (listView.getDividerHeight() * (listAdapter.getCount() - 1)); listView.setLayoutParams(params); } ; and here is the list_item_comments.xml:; {RelativeLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="fill_parent" } {RelativeLayout android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:layout_centerVertical="true" android:layout_marginLeft="8dip" android:layout_marginRight="8dip" } {TextView android:id="@+id/list_item_comments_nick" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:textSize="16sp" style="@style/WhiteText" /} {TextView android:id="@+id/list_item_comments_time" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:layout_alignParentRight="true" android:textSize="16sp" style="@style/WhiteText" /} {TextView android:id="@+id/list_item_comments_content" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:layout_below="@id/list_item_comments_nick" android:autoLink="all" android:textSize="24sp" style="@style/WhiteText" /} {/RelativeLayout} {/RelativeLayout} ;

  • wrap from last screen to first screen in android Launcher2

    - by poboy975
hi, I'm learning java and android. and I've been looking at trying to wrap the last screen to the first screen in the android Launcher2. I've tried googleing, and searching here, but there really isnt much information about the launcher2 source...I've been modifying the workspace.java file, but there has been minimal effect. no wrap around so far...I have not been able to find a .xml file that also might control the hard stop when you reach the end of the screens. I'll give a small example of the code that i have been modifying. original code: public void scrollRight() { clearVacantCache(); if (mNextScreen == INVALID_SCREEN && mCurrentScreen < getChildCount() -1 && mScroller.isFinished()) { snapToScreen(mCurrentScreen + 1); } modified code: public void scrollRight() { clearVacantCache(); if (mNextScreen == INVALID_SCREEN && mCurrentScreen < getChildCount() -1 && mScroller.isFinished()) { snapToScreen(mCurrentScreen + 1); }if (mCurrentScreen == getChildCount() -1 && mScroller.isFinished()) { snapToScreen(0); I would appreciate any tips or pointers if anyone has an idea where i'm going wrong, or someplace i can search to get the answers. the code looks to me like it should work, but I'm probably missing something obvious.

  • TouchXML to read in twitter feed for iphone app

    - by Fiona
Hello there, So I've managed to get the feed from twitter and am attempting to parse it... I only require the following fields from the feed: name, description, time_zone and created_at I am successfully pulling out name and description.. however time_zone and created_at always are nil... The following is the code... Anyone see why this might not be working? -(void) friends_timeline_callback:(NSData *)data{ NSString *string = [[NSString alloc] initWithData:data encoding:NSASCIIStringEncoding]; NSLog(@"Data from twitter: %@", string); NSMutableArray *res = [[NSMutableArray alloc] init]; CXMLDocument *doc = [[[CXMLDocument alloc] initWithData:data options:0 error:nil] autorelease]; NSArray *nodes = nil; //! searching for item nodes nodes = [doc nodesForXPath:@"/statuses/status/user" error:nil]; for (CXMLElement *node in nodes) { int counter; Contact *contact = [[Contact alloc] init]; for (counter = 0; counter < [node childCount]; counter++) { //pulling out name and description only for the minute!!! if ([[[node childAtIndex:counter] name] isEqual:@"name"]){ contact.name = [[node childAtIndex:counter] stringValue]; }else if ([[[node childAtIndex:counter] name] isEqual:@"description"]) { // common procedure: dictionary with keys/values from XML node if ([[node childAtIndex:counter] stringValue] == NULL){ contact.nextAction = @"No description"; }else{ contact.nextAction = [[node childAtIndex:counter] stringValue]; } }else if ([[[node childAtIndex:counter] name] isEqual:@"created_at"]){ contact.date == [[node childAtIndex:counter] stringValue]; }else if([[[node childAtIndex:counter] name] isEqual:@"time_zone"]){ contact.status == [[node childAtIndex:counter] stringValue]; [res addObject:contact]; [contact release]; } } } self.contactsArray = res; [res release]; [self.tableView reloadData]; } Thanks in advance for your help!! • genStrAsCharArray optimisation benefits

    - by Rich
Hi I am looking into the options available to me for optimising the performance of JBoss 5.1.0. One of the options I am looking at is setting genStrAsCharArray to true in <JBOSS_HOME>/server/<PROFILE>/deployers/jbossweb.deployer/web.xml. This affects the generation of .java code from .JSPs. The comment describes this flag as: Should text strings be generated as char arrays, to improve performance in some cases? I have a few questions about this. Is this the generation of Strings in the dynamic parts of the JSP page (ie each time the page is called) or is it the generation of Strings in the static parts (ie when the .java is built from the JSP)? "in some cases" - which cases are these? What are the situations where the performance is worse? Does this speed up the generation of the .java, the compilation of the .class or the execution of the .class? At a more technical level (and the answer to this will probably depend on the answer to part 1), why can the use of char arrays improve performance? Thanks in advance Rich

  • How to place a DIV over jw player when certain condition is met?

    - by Derek
JW player can either playback video in flash or html5. I use a countdown timer in my app between certain videos. Right now the countdown timer is being displayed in a div beneath the jw player. I need to get that timer displayed in a div that covers the entire jw player interface. I'm stuck and could use some help. Here is some of the javascript code: jwplayer("container").setup({ 'file': 'devplaylist.xml', 'flashplayer': 'js/player.swf', 'plugins': { './countdown.js': {} }, 'repeat': 'list', 'autostart': true, 'height': 390, 'width': 720, events: { onPlaylist: function(event){ ... ... } onPlaylistItem: function(event){ ... ... var minutes = (Math.floor(time/60 )); var seconds = time % 60; if (seconds < 10) seconds = "0" + seconds; var text = minutes + ":" + seconds; document.getElementById('resttimer').innerHTML = text; //I need to have a DIV display the value of text (the countdown time) //directly over the jw player time--; }, 1000); ... ...} Any help is appreciated, DK

  • Java: Tracking a user login session - Session EJBs vs HTTPSession

    - by bguiz
If I want to keep track of a conversational state with each client using my web application, which is the better alternative - a Session Bean or a HTTP Session - to use? Using HTTP Session: //request is a variable of the class javax.servlet.http.HttpServletRequest //UserState is a POJO HttpSession session = request.getSession(true); UserState state = (UserState)(session.getAttribute("UserState")); if (state == null) { //create default value .. } String uid = state.getUID(); //now do things with the user id Using Session EJB: In the implementation of ServletContextListener registered as a Web Application Listener in WEB-INF/web.xml: //UserState NOT a POJO this this time, it is //the interface of the UserStateBean Stateful Session EJB @EJB private UserState userStateBean; public void contextInitialized(ServletContextEvent sce) { ServletContext servletContext = sce.getServletContext(); servletContext.setAttribute("UserState", userStateBean); ... In a JSP: public void jspInit() { UserState state = (UserState)(getServletContext().getAttribute("UserState")); ... } Elsewhere in the body of the same JSP: String uid = state.getUID(); //now do things with the user id It seems to me that the they are almost the same, with the main difference being that the UserState instance is being transported in the HttpRequest.HttpSession in the former, and in a ServletContext in the case of the latter. Which of the two methods is more robust, and why?

  • Any Alternate way for writing to a file other than ofstream

    - by Aditya
Hi All, I am performing file operations (writeToFile) which fetches the data from a xml and writes into a output file(a1.txt). I am using MS Visual C++ 2008 and in windows XP. currently i am using this method of writing to output file.. 01.ofstreamhdr OutputFile; 02./* few other stmts / 03.hdrOutputFile.open(fileName, std::ios::out); 04. 05.hdrOutputFile << "#include \"commondata.h\""<< endl ; 06.hdrOutputFile << "#include \"Commonconfig.h\"" << endl ; 07.hdrOutputFile << "#include \"commontable.h\"" << endl << endl ; 08. hdrOutputFile << "#pragma pack(push,1)" << endl ; 09.hdrOutputFile << "typedef struct \n {" << endl ; 10./ simliar hdrOutputFiles statements... */.. I have around 250 lines to write.. Is any better way to perform this task. I want to reduce this hdrOutputFile and use a buffer to do this. Please guide me how to do that action. I mean, buff = "#include \"commontable.h\"" + "typedef struct \n {" + ....... hdrOutputFile << buff. is this way possible? Thanks Ramm

  • How do I make a HTTP POST request to an url from within a c++ dll?

    - by tjorriemorrie
Hi, there's an open-source application I need to use. It allows you to use a custom dll. Unfortunately, I can't code c++; i don't like it; it don't want to learn it. I do know PHP very well however, thus you can see that I'll rather do my logic within a PHP application. Thus I'm thinking about posting the data from c++/dll to a url on my localhost. (i have my local server set up, that's not the problem). I need to post a large amount of variables (thus a POST and not GET request required). The return value will only be one (int)variable, either 0, 1 or 2. So I need a c++ function that: 1) will post variables to an url. 2) Wait for, and receive the answer. The data type can be in xml, soap, json, whatever, doesn't matter. Is there anyone that can write a little c++ http function for me? pretty please? ;)

  • Are there good reasons not to use an ORM?

    - by hangy
During my apprenticeship, I have used NHibernate for some smaller projects which I mostly coded and designed on my own. Now, before starting some bigger project, the discussion arose how to design data access and whether or not to use an ORM layer. As I am still in my apprenticeship and still consider myself a beginner in enterprise programming, I did not really try to push in my opinion, which is that using an object relational mapper to the database can ease development quite a lot. The other coders in the development team are much more experienced than me, so I think I will just do what they say. :-) However, I do not completely understand two of the main reasons for not using NHibernate or a similar project: One can just build one’s own data access objects with SQL queries and copy those queries out of Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio. Debugging an ORM can be hard. So, of course I could just build my data access layer with a lot of SELECTs etc, but here I miss the advantage of automatic joins, lazy-loading proxy classes and a lower maintenance effort if a table gets a new column or a column gets renamed. (Updating numerous SELECT, INSERT and UPDATE queries vs. updating the mapping config and possibly refactoring the business classes and DTOs.) Also, using NHibernate you can run into unforeseen problems if you do not know the framework very well. That could be, for example, trusting the Table.hbm.xml where you set a string’s length to be automatically validated. However, I can also imagine similar bugs in a “simple” SqlConnection query based data access layer. Finally, are those arguments mentioned above really a good reason not to utilise an ORM for a non-trivial database based enterprise application? Are there probably other arguments they/I might have missed? (I should probably add that I think this is like the first “big” .NET/C# based application which will require teamwork. Good practices, which are seen as pretty normal on Stack Overflow, such as unit testing or continuous integration, are non-existing here up to now.)

  • Basic question in XSL regarding preceding text

    - by Rachel
I am new to XSL and i have a basic question on the context of using preceding text. My template match is on the text node. I am iterating over an xml file and within my for loop i am trying to take the preceding text of the text node. Unfortunately preceding::text() is not working if i use it within a for loop. I want to use it within the for loop but how can do it? <xsl:template match="text()"> <xsl:variable name="this" as="text()" select="."/> <xsl:for-each select="$input[@id = generate-id(current())]"> <xsl:variable name="preText" as="xsd:integer" select="sum(preceding::text()[. >> //*[@id=@name]]/string-length(.))"/> ... ... </xsl:for-each> </xsl:template>

  • How do you use indent in vim for web development?

    - by Somebody still uses you MS-DOS
I'm starting to use Linux and Vim at work. I'm starting to read vims documentation and creating my own .vimrc file and such. I'm a web developer working with HTML, XML, CSS, JS, Python, PHP, ZPT, DTML and SQL. I would like to have an indent feature like this one: for each language/set, a corresponding indent solution. So, in js, writing function test(){|} would turn in function test(){ | } If php, writing <?php function test(){|}: <?php function test(){ | } <?php> ...and such. Writing a function definition in Python, and then creating a for loop sentece, it would automatically create an indent. I'm starting with autoindent, smartindent, cindent but I'm a little confused about their differences. How do the indent in vim works? Am I supposed to download plugins for each language? Is the behavior I described possible with already existing plugins you're used to or do I have to create it? I keep seeing people using Vim and I'm trying to do this as well since the machine I'm using is too limited, but I'm afraid I won't be able to have a decent auto indenting solution in it. (I have used autoindenting in a little small project in Visual Studio, and really liked their approach. Is there a plugin for that?)

  • What's the meaning of the angle brackets on LINQ methods in Intellisense? (Contains<>, Count<>, Dis

    - by user312758
They usually involve generics. But some methods with generics don't have them, and not all extension methods have them. They've just "been there" since day one, we've all seen them; but I realized I still don't know what they mean, and I can't find the answer anywhere. Now it's really bugging me. Google just turns up results that are about XML, etc. Is this officially documented anywhere? Thanks. EDIT: Well that's just great. Since I just created an account to make my first Stack Overflow post, to get an answer for this burning question; I'm not allowed to post my pretty Intellisense picture, or create a new tag "angle-brackets". I love Stack Overflow, but... what a welcome! Maybe my problem is that they aren't actually called "angle brackets"... ?? Anyway, I guess if you really want to see my beautiful screenshot you could manually go to: http://www.freeimagehosting.net/uploads/6a6c2f3268.png Bump me up please so I can include it in the post, thanks. ;)

  • Weird behavior with windows startup C#

    - by FrieK
Hi, I've created an application with the option to start on Windows startup. First I did this via the Registry, like this: private void RunOnStartup(bool RunOnStartup) { Microsoft.Win32.RegistryKey key = Microsoft.Win32.Registry.CurrentUser.OpenSubKey("SOFTWARE\\Microsoft\\Windows\\CurrentVersion\\Run", true); if (RunOnStartup) { key.SetValue(ProgramTitle, System.Windows.Forms.Application.ExecutablePath.ToString()); } else { key.DeleteValue(ProgramTitle, false); } } And this worked, but not correctly. It started the .exe but with the same behavior as it was a new one with the default 'config.xml' it needs. Which is obviously wrong. I did not manage to find out what was wrong, so I tried it differently: create a shortcut in the Startup folder. Couldn't go wrong I figured, I mean, it's just a shortcut right? I used this code: private void RunOnStartup(bool RunOnStartup) { string startup = Environment.GetFolderPath(Environment.SpecialFolder.Startup) + "\\"+ProgramTitle+".url"; if (RunOnStartup) { using (StreamWriter writer = new StreamWriter(startup)) { string app = System.Reflection.Assembly.GetExecutingAssembly().Location; writer.WriteLine("[InternetShortcut]"); writer.WriteLine("URL=file:///" + app); writer.WriteLine("IconIndex=0"); string icon = app.Replace('\\', '/'); writer.WriteLine("IconFile=" + icon); writer.Flush(); } } else { if (File.Exists(startup)) { File.Delete(startup); } } } And this worked as well, it started, but with the same behavior. So my question is, does anyone have any idea how this happens? Any help is much appreciated! Thanks

  • Hibernate Search + Spring

    - by Zane
I'm trying to integrate Hibernate Search with Spring, but I can't seem to index anything. I was able to get Hibernate Search to work without Spring, but I'm having a problem integrating it with Spring. Any help would be much appreciated. Below is my springmvc-servlet.xml: <bean id="transactionManager" class="org.springframework.orm.jpa.JpaTransactionManager"> <property name="entityManagerFactory" ref="entityManagerFactory" /> </bean> <bean id="entityManagerFactory" class="org.springframework.orm.jpa.LocalEntityManagerFactoryBean"> <property name="persistenceUnitName" value="enewsclipsPersistenceUnit" /> </bean> And here is my DAO class: @Repository public class SearchDaoImpl implements SearchDao { JpaTemplate jpaTemplate; @Autowired public SearchDaoImpl(EntityManagerFactory entityManagerFactory) { this.jpaTemplate = new JpaTemplate(entityManagerFactory); } @SuppressWarnings("unchecked") public void updateSearchIndex() { /* Implement the callback method */ jpaTemplate.execute(new JpaCallback() { public Object doInJpa(EntityManager em) throws PersistenceException { List<Article> articles = em.createQuery("select a from Article a").getResultList(); FullTextEntityManager ftEm = Search.getFullTextEntityManager(em); ftEm.getTransaction().begin(); for(Article article : articles) { System.out.println("Indexing Item " + article.getTitle()); ftEm.index(article); } ftEm.getTransaction().commit(); return null; } }); } } I think that it may have to do with the transactions but I'm not exactly sure. If you could just point me in the right direction, that would be helpful too! Thank you.

  • WPF C# Client/Server announcement system

    - by manemawanna
I'm currently in the process of creating an announcement system at my place of work. The role of this system will be to replace all users email due to people misusing it and generally abusing the facility. The system will consist of: Web Portal: Will allow staff to enter any important announcements (this will be restricted via AD). SQL Server 2k5 DB: Will hold the announcements along with records of staff members and if they've read the announcements etc. Front End: Created in WPF & C# which is nearly complete, it will display the announcements to the users. Web Page: Client will contact every so often, which will return an xml file for the client to read. However my boss has now shifted the goal posts and would like the announcements to appear to the user once they are written to the database, rather than waiting on the client to contact the webpage. So now I'm a bit unsure as to how to go about this. I have one idea where I would create a small server application to monitor for new announcements then contact the clients to inform them to approach the website for the information they need. But I'm just looking to see if theres a better or more efficient way to do this or if someone else has a more appropriate idea or suggestion.

  • web service slowdown

    - by user238591
Hi, I have a web service slowdown. My (web) service is in gsoap & managed C++. It's not IIS/apache hosted, but speaks xml. My client is in .NET The service computation time is light (<0.1s to prepare reply). I expect the service to be smooth, fast and have good availability. I have about 100 clients, response time is 1s mandatory. Clients have about 1 request per minute. Clients are checking web service presence by tcp open port test. So, to avoid possible congestion, I turned gSoap KeepAlive to false. Until there everything runs fine : I bearly see connections in TCPView (sysinternals) New special synchronisation program now calls the service in a loop. It's higher load but everything is processed in less 30 seconds. With sysinternals TCPView, I see that about 1 thousands connections are in TIME_WAIT. They slowdown the service and It takes seconds for the service to reply, now. Could it be that I need to reset the SoapHttpClientProtocol connection ? Someone has TIME_WAIT ghosts with a web service call in a loop ?

  • Why am I getting a ClassCastException here?

    - by Holly
I'm creating an android application and i'm trying to use a PreferenceActivity. I'm getting the java.lang.ClassCastException: java.lang.String error when it gets to this line return PreferenceManager.getDefaultSharedPreferences(context).getInt(USER_TERM, USER_TERM_DEF); I thought it might be because I'm not converting it properly from it's string value in the EditText box to the int I need but I can't figure out how to fix this, or is that even the cause? I'm flummoxed. Here's my preference activity class: public class UserPrefs extends PreferenceActivity { //option names and default vals private static final String USER_TERM = "term_length"; private static final String USER_YEAR = "year_length"; private static final int USER_TERM_DEF = 12; private static final int USER_YEAR_DEF = 34; @Override protected void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState){ super.onCreate(savedInstanceState); addPreferencesFromResource(R.xml.preferences); } public static int getTermLength(Context context){ try{ return PreferenceManager.getDefaultSharedPreferences(context).getInt(USER_TERM, USER_TERM_DEF); }catch (ClassCastException e){Log.v("getTermLength", "error::: " + e); } //return 1;//temporary, needed to catch the error and couldn't without adding a return outside the block.// } public static int getYearLength(Context context){ return PreferenceManager.getDefaultSharedPreferences(context).getInt(USER_YEAR, USER_YEAR_DEF); } And here's the bit of code where I'm trying to use the the preferences inside another class: public float alterForFrequency(Context keypadContext, float enteredAmount, String spinnerPosition){ int termLength = UserPrefs.getTermLength(keypadContext); int yearLength = UserPrefs.getYearLength(keypadContext); } The complete android logcat, i've uploaded here: http://freetexthost.com/v3t4ta3wbi

  • Load some data from database and hide it somewhere in a web page

    - by kwokwai
Hi all, I am trying to load some data (which may be up to a few thousands words) from the database, and store the data somewhere in a html web page for comparing the data input by users. I am thinking to load the data to a Textarea under Div tag and hide the the data: <Div id="reference" style="Display:none;"> <textarea rows="2" cols="20" id="database"> html, htm, php, asp, jsp, aspx, ctp, thtml, xml, xsl... </textarea> </Div> <table border=0 width="100%"> <tr> <td>Username</td> <td> <div id="username"> <input type="text" name="data" id="data"> </div> </td> </tr> </table> <script> $(document).ready(function(){ //comparing the data loaded from database with the user's input if($("#data").val()==$("#database").val()) {alert("error");} }); </script> I am not sure if this is the best way to do it, so could you give me some advice and suggest your methods please.

  • Compiling GWT 2.6.1 at Java 7 source level

    - by Neeko
I've recently updated my GWT project to 2.6.1, and started to make use of Java 7 syntax since 2.6 now supports Java 7. However, when I attempt to compile, I'm receiving compiler errors such as [ERROR] Line 42: '<>' operator is not allowed for source level below 1.7 How do I specify the GWT compiler to target 1.7? I was under the impression that it would do that by default, but I guess not. I've attempted cleaning the project, including deleting the gwt-unitCache directory but to no avail. Here is my Ant compile target. <target name="compile" depends="prepare"> <javac includeantruntime="false" debug="on" debuglevel="lines, vars, source" srcdir="${src.dir}" destdir="${build.dir}"> <classpath refid="project.classpath"/> </javac> </target> <target name="gwt-compile" depends="compile"> <java failonerror="true" fork="true" classname="com.google.gwt.dev.Compiler"> <classpath> <!-- src dir is added to ensure the module.xml file(s) are on the classpath --> <pathelement location="${src.dir}"/> <pathelement location="${build.dir}"/> <path refid="project.classpath"/> </classpath> <jvmarg value="-Xmx256M"/> <arg value="${gwt.module.name}"/> </java> </target>

  • Should TcpClient be used for this scenario?

    - by Martín Marconcini
I have to communicate with an iPhone. I have its IP Address and the port (obtained via Bonjour). I need to send a header that is “0x50544833” (or similar, It’s an HEX number), then the size of the data (below) and then the data itself. The data is just a string that looks like this: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <!DOCTYPE plist SYSTEM "http://www.apple.com/DTDs/PropertyList-1.0.dtd"> <plist version="1.0"> <dict> <key>clientName</key> <string>XXX</string> <key>clientService</key> <string>0be397e7-21f4-4d3c-89d0-cdf179a7e14d</string> <key>registerCode</key> <string>0000</string> </dict> </plist> The requirement also says that I must send the data in little endian format (which I think is the default for Intel anyway). So it would be: hex_number + size of data + string_with_the_above_xml. I need to send that to the iPhone and read the response. What would be, according to your experience, the best way to send this data (and read the response)?

  • Ensuring quality of your software and code

    - by Filip Ekberg
When I usually write code I follow some guidelines to ensure that my code has a certain standard and I as any other developer try to ensure that my code and software is of quality. Try to focus on the programming and not the understanding of the domain or any other pre-programming steps. These are the following steps I live by: Writing unit tests Make it fail ( no code ) Make it Work ( working code ) Analysing abstraction Extracting methods Exteract interfaces Refactoring In addition to the above which is a part of refactoring, I also try to refactor the code with good tools such as ReSharper, CodeRush or others. The question; What is the next step? Commenting the code is trivial and shouldn't even have to be mentioned, but updated comments and xml-comments where it's needed / everywhere is something that I try to have. But all the above helps he ensure that other developers might understand my code, that the code has some sort of quality and follows naming standards. It does however not ensure any product quality. I am looking for tools for post-development quality ensurance, such as profilers and how one would use these tools to increase product quality.

  • How to mark multiple coordinates in KML using Java?

    - by Akshay
I'm working on a project that involves KML creation using Java. Currently, I'm fooling with the sample Java code from the KML example at Micromata Labs JAK Example. I tried to "extend" the code by adding multiple coordinates and getting two markers, but I could not get it to work. Can you please tell me how I can add multiple coordinates and put markers on them, and also, draw a line between the markers. Thank you for your help! PS: I need to do this via the program. I saw sample code of them using DOM and XML, but not pure Java/JAK as such. Please guide me. I got as far as this: kml .createAndSetDocument().withName("My Markers"). createAndAddPlacemark().withName("London, UK").withOpen(Boolean.TRUE) .createAndSetPoint().addToCoordinates(-0.126236, 51.500152); kml.createAndSetPlacemark() .withName("Somewhere near London, UK").withOpen(Boolean.TRUE) .createAndSetPoint().addToCoordinates(-0.129800,52.700152); But I know I'm going wrong somewhere. Please point me in the right direction.

System.out.println(new Date(newTs)); // Mon Jan 03 00:00:00 PST 1 .. where did the extra days come from?

  • Dice Emulation - ImageView

    - by Michelle Harris
I am trying to emulate dice using ImageView. When I click the button, nothing seems to happen. I have hard coded this example to replace the image with imageView4 for debugging purposes (I was making sure the random wasn't fail). Can anyone point out what I am doing wrong? I am new to Java, Eclipse and Android so I'm sure I've probably made more than one mistake. Java: import java.util.Random; import android.app.Activity; import android.os.Bundle; import android.view.View; import android.widget.ArrayAdapter; import android.widget.ImageView; import android.widget.Spinner; import android.widget.Toast; public class Yahtzee4Activity extends Activity { /** Called when the activity is first created. */ @Override public void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) { super.onCreate(savedInstanceState); setContentView(R.layout.main); Spinner s = (Spinner) findViewById(R.id.spinner); ArrayAdapter adapter = ArrayAdapter.createFromResource( this, R.array.score_types, android.R.layout.simple_spinner_dropdown_item); adapter.setDropDownViewResource(android.R.layout.simple_spinner_dropdown_item); s.setAdapter(adapter); } public void onMyButtonClick(View view) { ImageView imageView1 = new ImageView(this); Random rand = new Random(); int rndInt = 4; //rand.nextInt(6) + 1; // n = the number of images, that start at index 1 String imgName = "die" + rndInt; int id = getResources().getIdentifier(imgName, "drawable", getPackageName()); imageView1.setImageResource(id); } } XML for the button: <Button android:id="@+id/button_roll" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:text="@string/roll" android:onClick="onMyButtonClick" />

    - by tim
I have been trying for 4 days to get app-engine and grails working together on my mac to no avail. I am using latest groovy/grails and appengine sdk versions. Im following the app-engine plugin step by step on the grails site.. http://grails.org/plugin/app-engine Groovy Version: 1.7.1 JVM: 1.5.0_22 Grails 1.3.0.RC1 echo $APPENGINE_HOME reveals /Users/markstim/appengine-java-sdk-1.3.2 I perform the following steps 1. grails create-app myapp 2. cd myapp; grails list-plugins reveals hibernate 1.3.0.RC1 -- Hibernate for Grails tomcat 1.3.0.RC1 -- Apache Tomcat plugin for Grails add the following line to Config.groovy google.appengine.application="myapp" install the plugin for app-engine grails install-plugin app-engine and answer 'jpa' when asked (no errors yet) installed plugins list now looks like app-engine 0.8.9 -- Grails AppEngine plugin gorm-jpa 0.7.1 -- GORM-JPA Plugin then grails run-app and get this error as the server is coming up... [java] WARNING: Nested in org.springframework.beans.factory.BeanCreationException: Error creating bean with name 'pluginManager' defined in ServletContext resource [/WEB-INF/applicationContext.xml]: Invocation of init method failed; nested exception is org.codehaus.groovy.grails.exceptions.NewInstanceCreationException: Could not create a new instance of class [GormJpaGrailsPlugin]!: [java] java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: org.grails.jpa.JpaPluginSupport then if i navigate to localhost:8080 I get HTTP ERROR: 503 Problem accessing /myapp. Reason: SERVICE_UNAVAILABLE Powered by Jetty://
