  Hi All, is there a way to retrieve only the immediate children found by a call to DOMElement::getElementsByTagName? For example, I have an XML document that has a category element. That category element has sub category elements (which have the same structure), like: <category> <id>1</id> <name>Top Level Category Name</name> <subCategory> <id>2</id> <name>Sub Category Name</name> </subCategory> ... </category> If I have a DOMElement representing the top level category, $topLevelCategoryElement->getElementsByTagName('id'); will return a list with the nodes for all 'id' elements, where I want just the one from the top level. Any way to do this outside of using XPath?

How would I get around this issue in the most elegant way? My current idea is to put the stuff from the Index controlleraction in a [NonAction] and call that method from both the Index action and in the CreateUser action, but I have a feeling there must be a better way.   Hello all, I have a dialog in which the edit box is disabled but the text should be displayed in red instead of the default grey. (This enables use of SQL-92 syntax features) Upgrading is (relatively) easy. A call to the JRO.JetEngine object's CompactDatabase method (as described here) should do the trick, but before I do this I need to determine whether an upgrade is required. How do I determine the Jet OLEDB:Engine Type of an existing database? Can this be determined from an open OleDBConnection? Note: I'm talking about database versions, not Jet library versions. • Setting the ASP.NET version via MSBUILD

  I am trying to create a new website on a remote server via msbuild (I like to call it "msdeploy"). I've downloaded and used the SDC tasks, the MSBuildExtension tasks and the MSBuildCommunity tasks but I simply can't get it right. I figure that WebDirectorySetting (from MSBuild.Community.Tasks.IIS) is my best bet but I can't find the right SettingName to pass. I'd like to use some sort of MSBuild task to accomplish this but maybe it just doesn't exist. Custom VBS or WMI are my last resort... Thanks

Or will TCP complete it automatically?

  Hi, I'm currently working with an massive PHP codebase, witch is completely undocumented. Here's the deal. All of the PHP code is included every page call. They build a simple include all kinda function that scan's the directory and includes all PHP files it can find. It works recursively for all the subfolders. I would like to know what functions are used in what files and from which files those functions came. I need to know this in order to switch to normale includes. Also it gives me more information about not used functions and files (since it a really old and big codebase, there is a lot of legacy in it). It there a tool or something for PHP that can check this kind of stuff in a codebase?

• How Do I Programmatically Check if a WordPress Plugin Is Already Activated?

  I know I can use activate_plugin() from inside a given, active plugin in WordPress, to activate another plugin. But what I want to know is how do I programmatically check if that plugin is already active? For instance, this snippet of code can be temporarily added to an existing plugin's initial file to activate a partner plugin: add_action('wp','activatePlugins'); function activatePlugins() { if( is_single() || is_page() || is_home() || is_archive() || is_category() || is_tag()) { @ activate_plugin('../mypartnerplugin/thepluginsmainfile.php'); } } Then, use a Linux command line tool to spider all your sites that have this code, and it will force a page view. That page view will cause the above code to fire and activate that other plugin. That's how to programmatically activate another plugin from a given plugin as far as I can tell. But the problem is that it gets activated over and over and over again. What would be great is if I had an if/then condition and some function I could call in WordPress to see if that plugin is already activated, and only activate it once if not active.

• My map callouts don't display the image when clicked

  I am developing an iPhone application for a university project and I'm new to iPhone development. I have looked through Apple's MapCallouts code but it doesn't seem feasible to implement it. So far my code displays a map, drops annotations, displays the title and it displays the right call out button. But this is where I encounter problems. When I press on the callout button, it displays a blank view controller but it should display a different image for every callout that's tapped and this isn't happening so far.   In Applescript, if you declare a handler using "with" labeled parameters, local variables get the values of the arguments and the parameters themselves are undefined. For example: on bam of thing with frst and scnd local eat_frst return {thing: thing, frst:frst, scnd:scnd} -- this line throws an error end bam bam of "bug-AWWK!" with frst without scnd results in an error message that "scnd" isn't defined in the second line of bam. thing and frst are both defined, getting the arguments passed in the call to bam. Why is this happening? Why is scnd undefined? Note: I know that declaring variables as "local" within a handler is unnecessary. It's done in the examples for illustrative purposes.

• Completion block not being called. How to check validity?

  I have this method which takes a block, but that block isn't always called. Sometimes this program counter just blows right past the call to completion() in the code above. I don't see why this would be as the calling code always passes a literal block of code as input. If you're curious of the output of the line containing the addressof operator, it's always something different, but never 0 or nil. What would cause completion not to be executed?

  Just trying to figure a shorter way to do this: I'm using simpleXMLElement to parse an xml file and it's aggravating to have to call two lines to process an array when I know what node I want. Current code: $xml = new SimpleXMLElement($data); $r = $xml->xpath('///givexNumber'); $result["cardNum"] = $r[0]; What I would like to do would be something like I can do with DomX $result["cardNum"] = $xml->xpath('///givexNumber')->item(0)->nodeValue; Any ideas? I didn't really see that simplexmlelement can do this, but thought someone might know a trick or two.

  I have what may be a very simple question. I want to process a column of POSIXct objects from a dataframe and generate a vector of datetime strings. I tried to use the following sapply call dt <- sapply(df$datetime, function(x) format(x,"%Y-%m-%dT%H:%M:%S")) but to no avail. I keep getting the following error Error in prettyNum(.Internal(format(x, trim, digits, nsmall, width, 3L, : invalid 'trim' argument When I apply this function to a single POSIXct object from the column, I have no problem. So I'm stumped at the moment about what the problem is. Do I need to do something special with POSIXct objects?

  Hi. I am trying to use JSON.stringify() (from json2.js of json[dot]org ) to convert a JavaScript array to JSON string and to pass it to an asmx web method. I use jQuery AJAX. The call reaches the web method where I take a List <Object> as parameter but I get an empty list there in debug mode. My JSON string looks like well formed with all data , I even tried having single-quotes and double-quotes(escaped) around the 'names' of the JSON string. Please help.

• Hibernate Lazy init exception in spring scheduled job

  I have a spring scheduled job (@Scheduled) that sends emails from my system according to a list of recipients in the DB. This method is annotated with the @Scheduled annotation and it invokes a method from another interface, the method in the interface is annotated with the @Transactional annotation. Now, when i invoke the scheduled method manually, it works perfectly. But when the method is invoked by spring scheduler i get the LazyInitFailed exception in the method implementing the said interface. • Python ValueError: not allowed to raise maximum limit

  I'm using python 2.7.2 on mac os 10.7.3 I'm doing a recursive algorithm in python with more than 50 000 recursion levels. I tried to increase the maximum recursion level to 1 000 000 but my python shell still exit after 18 000 recursion levels. I tried to increase the resources available : import resource resource.setrlimit(resource.RLIMIT_STACK, (2**29,-1)) sys.setrecursionlimit(10**6) and I get this error : Traceback (most recent call last): File "<pyshell#58>", line 1, in <module> resource.setrlimit(resource.RLIMIT_STACK,(2**29,-1)) ValueError: not allowed to raise maximum limit I don't know why I cannot raise the maximum limit ? thanks for your suggestions .

• How often to run getWritableDatabase() and getReadableDatabase()?

  I'm writing a Service, a Content Provider, and one or more apps. The Service writes new data to the Content Provider's SQLite database every 5 minutes or so plus at user input, and is intended to run pretty much forever in the background. The app, when running, will display data pulled from the Content Provider, and will be refreshed whenever the Service puts more data into the Content Provider's database. Given that the Service only inserts into the database once every five minutes, when is the right time to call SQLiteOpenHelper's getWritableDatabase() / getReadableDatabase()? Is it on the onCreate() of the Content Provider, or should I run it every time there is an insert() and close it at the end of insert()? The data being inserted every 5 minutes will contain multiple inserts.
