    Is there a website that allows one to get the tarball of any specified SVN repository? For example I want to get the tarball or zip of http://svn.python.org/view/python/trunk/ without having to use a local SVN client, but only use my browser or some command line HTTP client (such as wget). This is mainly for some old unix machines that do not have SVN client.

  • Tool to compute SHA256 Tree Hash

    I've started using AWS Glacier, and noticed that it hashes the files using an algorithm called SHA-256 Tree Hash. To my surprise, this algorithm is different from SHA-256, so I can't use the tools I'm used to, to compare hashes and verify file integrity. Do you know a Windows tool, if possible integrated in the context menu, to compute the SHA-256 Tree Hash of a file? I'd also accept a Linux command-line tool, as a second choice :-)

    On my ubuntu 8.04, I did a gem update --system and now everytime i try to run the gem command line from console, i get the error: /usr/bin/gem:10: undefined method `manage_gems' for Gem:Module (NoMethodError) What's going on? My version of rubygem was very old, but at least it was working before. How do I fix the above problem or roll back to my earlier version?

    I have an application on Windows Server 2008 that takes different command-line parameters. For example: myapp.exe /A myapp.exe /B I have created a task scheduler task for each of those. While "myapp.exe /A" is running, I want to prevent another instance of it from starting. However, I still want "myapp.exe /B" to be able to run (again, though only one instance of it at a time). How can I set this up?

    I am trying to implement a multi threaded application with pthread. I did implement a thread class which looks like the following and I call it later twice (or even more), but it seems to block instead of execute the threads parallel. But I discovered, that the thread is created, then as it tries to execute it (via start) the problem seems to block until the thread has closed. After that the next Thread is processed. I thought that pthread would do it unblocked for me, so what did I wrong? A sample output might be: Creating Thread [Thread] Thread Init Created thread, starting... Until Thread 1 is not terminated, a Thread 2 won't be created not executed. The process above is executed in an other class. Just for the information: I am trying to create a multi threaded server. In the DerivedThread::exec I am doing the handling for the connected client. I think, that the socket may cause the blocking behaviour. Edit: I figured out, that it is not the read() loop in the DerivedThread Class as I simply replaced it with a loop over a simple cout-usleep part.     I'm developing on my ubuntu 9.10 machine for the web (php). I'm using it sendmail for sending mails, and while developing on my local machine, I send local mails (to my user 'doron'). Up until a few days ago, I was able to send mails both from php's mail() function, and from the command line using the mail command. I'm using sendmail with mailutils. Since the last few days, it seems like it stopped working.   • Filtering Security Logs by User and Logon Type

    I have been asked to find out when a user has logged on to the system in the last week. Now the audit logs in Windows should contain all the info I need. I think if I search for Event ID 4624 (Logon Success) with a specific AD user and Logon Type 2 (Interactive Logon) that it should give me the information I need, but for the life of my I cannot figure out how to actually filter the Event Log to get this information. Is it possible inside of the Event Viewer or do you need to use an external tool to parse it to this level? I found http://nerdsknowbest.blogspot.com.au/2013/03/filter-security-event-logs-by-user-in.html which seemed to be part of what I needed. I modified it slightly to only give me the last 7 days worth. Below is the XML I tried. <QueryList> <Query Id="0" Path="Security"> <Select Path="Security">*[System[(EventID=4624) and TimeCreated[timediff(@SystemTime) &lt;= 604800000]]]</Select> <Select Path="Security">*[EventData[Data[@Name='Logon Type']='2']]</Select> <Select Path="Security">*[EventData[Data[@Name='subjectUsername']='Domain\Username']]</Select> </Query> </QueryList> It only gave me the last 7 days, but the rest of it did not work. I can get it to produce the results correctly until I add in the LogonType line. After that, it returns no results. Any idea why this might be? EDIT 2 I updated the LogonType line to the following: EventData[Data[@Name='LogonType'] and (Data='2' or Data='7')] This should capture Workstation Logons as well as Workstation Unlocks, but I still get nothing. I then modify it to search for other Logon Types like 3, or 8 which it finds plenty of. This leads me to believe that the query works correctly, but for some reason there are no entries in the Event Logs with Logon Type equalling 2 and this makes no sense to me. Is it possible to turn this off?

  • Turn on Laptop backlight without a keyboard shortcut

    I recently installed the latest drivers and my screen backlight turned off. The problem is that my Fn-F7 key combination doesn't work, so I can't turn it back on. I can see my screen at night if I hold a source of light next to the screen. So I can still do some trivial things with my laptop. Is there a way to turn the backlight on without using Fn-F7 key combination, either via the command line, or some other way?

    I have this command defined: define command{ command_name check_http_sane command_line $USER1$/check_http -H $HOSTNAME$ -r "HTTP/1.1 (200|301|302|303|304|307|401|418|426)" } When I run it manually on command line, it works fine, but nagios (2.6) reports a "pattern not found" error.     I have the following commands in /etc/rc.local chmod 666 /dev/fuse chmod +x /usr/bin/fusermount /bin/su someuser -c "/usr/bin/sshfs someuser@someserver:/usr/local/storage /usr/local/storage_remote -o nonempty -o reconnect" If I run them from command line, as root, they work. If I reboot the server they won't run from /etc/rc.local. I try to figure out what I do wrong but I don't have console access and I couldn't find any errors in /var/log related to sshfs.

    I would like to use Nginx as a webserver on my Ubuntu 12.04 server, but i would also like to use it for file transfers. I have been able to set it up as a webserver (very simple), and I have been able to set it up for file transfers (using autoindex on line), but i have not been able to do them both at the same time. Is it possible to have Nginx act as a webserver, and then when you click a link it shows your file directories instead?

Should they be using the ASCII mode in their FTP manager? Should that force the line endings to be \n when uploading from Windows to Linux?
