  I ve started using Notepad++ moving over from TextPad I have two main gripes: 1) Can you actually see all the files open in your Notepad++ in a document explorer view like you could with TextPad? 2) Can you configure Notepad++ to only update files open if that file is the active document? Often I have ten log files open and I want to see when they get modified when I click on them 3) Can you control window numbers? Sometimes I look at two files and I always used to switch between them by doing Window - 1 and then Window - 2. With notepad++ a window number seems to assigned and never changes

• Mysql query taking too much time

  I have problem related to mysql database. i am linux webserver admin and i am facing a problem with a mysql query. The database is very small. I tried to track in logs and found that a query is taking minimum 5 sec to respond . The first page of site is coming from the database. Client are using cms. when the server gets some number of hits database server starts to give response very slowly and wait time increases from 5 sec to several seconds. I checked slow query logs { Query_time: 11.480138 Lock_time: 0.003837 Rows_sent: 921 Rows_examined: 3333 SET timestamp=1346656767; SELECT `Tender`.`id`, `Tender`.`department_id`, `Tender`.`title_english`, `Tender`.`content_english`, `Tender`.`title_hindi`, `Tender`.`content_hindi`, `Tender`.`file_name`, `Tender`.`start_publish`, `Tender`.`end_publish`, `Tender`.`publish`, `Tender`.`status`, `Tender`.`createdBy`, `Tender`.`created`, `Tender`.`modifyBy`, `Tender`.`modified` FROM `mcms_tenders` AS `Tender` WHERE `Tender`.`department_id` IN ( 31, 33, 32, 30 ); } Every line in the log is same only there is diff in Query time.   You all know how annoying is this: I do have a log system and the correct error is well explicit there, but I want to give a better message to the user. • problem with drupal view and php code

  Hello, I have a view set up in drupal and I am using some jquery code within the view which hides some data based upon a text box value. Everything is working fine for me when I am logged in. When I log out and access the block anonymously, it doesn't work correctly. I am somewhat new to drupal, and don't know where to begin troubleshooting. I assume it is a permissions issue, but on the view, on the content type, where? If anyone could give me some direction on where to start looking, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks

• Log4net rollingfile appender skipping every other day in asp.net mvc app

  Hi, I've set up some log4net logging on an asp.net mvc application i've had running for a little over a month now. I've set up rolling file (and smtp) appender on it. The application is hit several thousand times a day - alot of actions are logged. On top of these a number of batch jobs are run as part of the application that also write to the log. Now - as i've been occupied with other work, i've not attended to this application much assuming things to be working based on my test setup. Unfortunately i discover that the rolling file appender on my production server seems to be skipping every other day. Ie i have logs : 10/4/2010, 10/4/2010.1, 10/4/2010.2, 12/4/2010, 12/4/2010.1 , 14/4/2010, 14/4/2010.1 etc. Any idea what could be causing this? It is absolutely impossible that there has no action on these odd days for the lifetime of the application. Cheers

• .Net LoginControls - User can't logout in Firefox

  Basically, the logout link doesn't do anything, but only in Firefox. (I can login and out freely from other browsers) There really isn't a whole lot of information I can really give other than that, since I'm still new to this project and .net as a whole, and know almost nothing about the login controls. So if someone else has experienced a similar issue in the past, and can recognize the issue with the little info I have, that would be great! If not, sorry for the lack of depth, but its all I have. In my case i need to login to view all pages. I want these common pages to be viewable without having to log on. • Cant get Tomcat6.0 to work with Windows 7 Environment

  Prior to upgrading to windows 7, I was able to use Tomcat 6.0, but when I upgraded to the new Windows, and downloaded Eclipse EE, and downloaded the apache content, I am unable to get Apache to run. When I attempt to start my apacher server through either system tray, or even windows services, it gives the followign error screen. "Windows could not start the Apache Tomcat 6 on local computer. For more information review the system event log. Refer to server specific error code 0." I have been able to locate some forums about error code 0, and some other documentation on this problem, but none of the solutions seems to work. One of the solutions I came across said to take the msvcr71.dll (mscvrt.dll on new platforms) and put it into the bin folder of apache. This also did not work. Does anybody know a fix for this problem, or a way to get around it so I can get my server up and running thanks.

  There is a perl script that needs to run as root but the we must make sure the user who runs the script did not log-in originally as user foo as it will be removed during the script. So how can I find out if the user, who might have su-ed several times since she logged in has not impersonated 'foo' at any time in that chain? • Application disappears after starting - C++ linking managed code dll

  Hello, we have a problem with our applications. We have recently upgraded our toolchain to Visual Studio 2010 and friends, it all works fine on Windows Vista + Windows 7 developer machines and Windows 7 customer machines. (all x86) Today we did a first installation to a client PC running Windows XP SP3 x86, and all applications linking managed code dll do not work. After starting the .exe seemingly nothing happens, no window pops up, no memory gets eaten, no task shows in task manager, nothing, nada. Event log is empty, everything is just as if the application returned to the OS right after the start. I am at loss about this, I really don't know how should I start even debugging this problem. I don't want to install VS2010 and everything onto a Windows XP box, I'd like to try something less time intensive first. This all is happening just to native C++ apps that link managed c++ DLL. Pure managed C# apps do work. Pure native C++ apps do work.

• Rails is caching when I don't want it to. Why?

  Rails is caching the index method of one of my controllers. It's a very simple application and only has like 2 controllers and a handful of actions each. The weird thing is I don't have any caching in my application at all, at least not explicitly. The pages get uncached if I restart passenger. Does rails do some kind of automatic page caching? There are no files in the public directory The page is returning a 200 header I have no caching blocks in my views (I use haml, if that matters) I have no action, controller, or page caching defined The request is hitting rails, verified by the production log I have the following in my production.rb: config.cache_classes = true config.action_controller.consider_all_requests_local = false config.action_controller.perform_caching = true config.action_view.cache_template_loading = true

• ASP.NET 3.5 Stateless Session Managment and connection pooling?

  I am designing an ASP.NET (3.5) web application that connects to a Rocket Software UniVerse database. I am in the planning stages right now and need some help in being pointed in the right direction. I am brand new to ASP and C#. I am shooting for a RESTful design and a MVC pattern. Rocket provides a .NET library called UniObjects.NET which handles everything for connecting and retrieving information from the database. What would be the best way to in general to log my users into the database, then use that session via connection pooling? I see that in 3.5 there is the ASP.NET Routing Infrastructure and that looks promising am I in the right direction on this? Also does C# support decorators like Python and Java?

• Post to a page wall that I'm not admin

  I created an app to post to pages the user chooses. How can I direct the message to a page Wall on behalf of the user? From my tests the post is sent, but the page can't see it and the page is not notified either. I have OAuth extended Permissions of publish_stream, what else do I need to my post not being invisible? I will try to clarify the problem in details: 1- I send a post to a Facebook page that is not mine, I'm just a normal user, via application that ask for publish_stream, read_stream permissions. 2- I verify the page logging as admin but no notification is delivered and I can't see the post on my Wall. 3-If I log as the sender user I can see the post on page Wall, it looks like the post is private and just the sender user can see It. If I try to recover the post via Graph API using the same user it returns false. 4- Only the users who has the app installed can see the post on page wall.

• Space requirements of a merge-sort

  I'm trying to understand the space requirements for a Mergesort, O(n). I see that time requirements are basically, amount of levels(logn) * merge(n) so that makes (n log n). Now, we are still allocating n per level, in 2 different arrays, left and right. I do understand that the key here is that when the recursive functions return the space gets deallocated, but I'm not seeing it too obvious. Besides, all the info I find, just states space required is O(n) but don't explain it. • Create facebook object each and every time?

  I have a login page which will log a user into my webapp based on their facebook login details. I then create a session to remember who they are. What I want to know is, should I be creating and/or checking the facebook credential on every single page of my webapp, or should I simply use the session I create at the beginning to login? For example, once they have logged in, I would like to allow them to post a message onto their own facebook wall from my app. Should I check the login credentials before they can post by recreating the facebook object, or should I simply use the stored login details already in my session and use that to post to their facebook wall?

I need a client that I can use to log in to the Database remotely and create/update tables and edit all the data. I found the MySQL Administrator client provided by them, but it seems you can do everything BUT edit the actual data with it. Is there anything like this? Would I be able to use SQL Server Express (or something similar), to connect to a remote server online and do all of this?

  I have some Crystal Reports connecting to a Sql Server db that I would like to detect whether the connection is trusted or whether I need to supply the log on info (reports are not supplied by me so I can't control the connect method). If I just blindly supply login credentials, it won't connect if it is a trusted connection.   If you assign an invalid date (like December 39th) to a datetime column ActiveRecord returns a "can't be blank" error when is should probably return an error like "Not a valid date" My question. • MD5 hash validation failing for unknown reason in PHP

  I'm writing a login form, and it converts the given password to an MD5 hash with md5($password), then matches it to an already-hashed record in my database. I know for sure that the database record is correct in this case. However, it doesn't log me in and claims the password is incorrect. Here's my code: $password = mysql_real_escape_string($_POST["password"]); ...more code... $passwordQuery = mysql_fetch_row(mysql_query(("SELECT password FROM users WHERE email = '$userEmail'"))); ...some code... elseif(md5($password) != $passwordQuery) { $_SESSION["noPass"] = "That password is incorrect."; } ...more code after... I tried pulling just the value of md5($password) and that matched up when I visually compared it. However, I can't get the comparison to work in PHP. Perhaps it is because the MySQL record is stored as text, and the MD5 is something else?
