  I have custom SiteMapProvider and RoleProvider that works together properly: IsAccessibleToUser returns false if current user's role isn't mentioned in SiteMapNode.Roles for page requested. So breadcrumbs or menu doesn't show an item. But user still can type now showed URL directly and open a page. How can I block such behavior? Also I have next Web.config settings: <authorization> <allow roles="Admin,Manager,Client" /> <deny users="*" /> </authorization>

• Refresh a control on the master page after postback

  Hi all! What i am trying to do here is to show a couple of validation messages in form of a bulletlist, so i have a Div on my master page containing a asp:bulletlist. Like this: <div> <asp:BulletedList ID="blstValidationErrorMessage" runat="server" BulletStyle="Disc"> </asp:BulletedList> </div> When i then click the Save button from any of my pages (inside the main contentPlaceHolder) i create a list of messages and give this list as datasouce like this: blstValidationErrorMessage.DataSource = validationMessageCollection; blstValidationErrorMessage.DataBind(); The save button is located inside an updatepanel: asp:UpdatePanel runat="server" ID="UpdatePanel" ChildrenAsTriggers="true" UpdateMode="Conditional" Nothing happens, i can see that the datasource of the bulletlist contains X items, the problems must arise because the Save button is inside an update panel and the elements outside this updatepanel (master page controls for example) is not refreshed. So my question is, how do i make the bulletlist refresh after the postback? Thanks in advance.

  Hi, I have a webpage underconstruction. I want to notify the people who visit it about its under-construction nature. For that I wanted to show a small transparent or transluscent page on the above page as shown here http://img17.imageshack.us/i/normalpagewithasmallpag.png/ You may notice that i want that page to appear at the center of the webpage overlayed on the original page with a cross at top-right corner. Clicking on that cross may close this small page revealing the page behind it so that the users may see what has been developed so far. I hope you guys have some suggestions for me.   How and with what software do major television companies display on-screen graphics during their programs? For example: On ESPN, how do they produce the news ticker on the bottom (both graphically and from a source code point of view), create and display the scores of sports, and update and show selected stats on the fly? I've looked everywhere I can think of to find the answer, but I am at a loss. That's where you guys (and girls) come in. I hope you can help shed some light on this subject for me. • Single click to activate last tab in windows 7 internet explorer (like FF)

  Windows 7 annoyance: the jump lists are fine for hovering over the taskbar items, great go ahead and show me previews of all the open instances and maybe I'll pick the exact one I want. However this works different between IE and FF. Hovering over the FF icon just shows me the single FF window, not any of the tabs I have open. Clicking it means my FF window opens and I'm at the last tab I was on. Great, normal behavior, one click and I'm in. Hovering over the IE icon shows me all the tabs in my single IE window. Ok, but I just want to go back to my last active IE tab. I can't! I am forced to click twice to go back to any IE tab. Sure it's a minor annoyance, but as I'm developing throughout the day I find it more and more annoying. Any ideas to fix so I can just click the IE taskbar icon once and it pulls up the last tab I was on?

• How can I see what capybara found in a failing cucumber step?

  I started migrating from cucumber + webrat to cucumber + capybara. Now the behavior of "I should see " seems to be somewhat different. Most of these fail now, although I didn't change anything on the page. I replaced the snippet that should be found with some stuff that is on every page and for some text it works and for other text it doesn't. I can't find any pattern in what is found in the page's content and what is not. Webrat used to print what the page content is that it found, in case it did not contain the required phrase. Is there anyway to have capybara show what text it got from the page in which it tried to find the text?

Usually, I just create a Windows Form Application to test the control's run-time interface. It would be nice to combine the two phases. Today, I discovered that the test-container is defined in the project file as show below. What I like to do is create my own test-container and use it for my Windows Forms Control Library projects in Visual Studio 2008. I cannot find any specific documentation, and the documentation I found was related to MSTest and not helpful. • Strange menu issue

  Just started out with Orchard and trying to just make pages and menus. I'm running into an issue where on my home page my menu shows: Home, Fruit, Vegetable, Carrot. I want it to show just Home, Fruit, Vegetable and when I click the respective item it adds the proper tabs. It DOES do it with Banana. ie: When I click Fruit, it shows Banana in the menu. But it always shows Carrot for some reason! I have the following setup. Navigation -Main Menu --Home --Fruit --Vegetable -Fruit Menu --Banana -Vegetable Menu --Carrot Widgits > Navigation > Main Menu, Fruit Menu, Vegetable Menu (Fruit and Vegetable Menus are in their own respective layers.) Path Examples: /Fruit, /Fruit/Banana, /Vegetable, /Vegetable/Carrot Thanks in advance.

• FFmpeg bitrate issue.

  I'm dealing with a very big issue about bit rate , ffmpeg provide the -b option for the bit rate and for adjustment it provide -minrate and -maxrate, -bufsize but it don't work proper. If i'm giving 256kbps at -b option , when the trans-coding finishes , it provide the 380kbps. How can we achieve the constant bit rate using ffmpeg. If their is +-10Kb it's adjustable. but the video bit rate always exceed by 50-100 kbps. I'm using following command ffmpeg -i "demo.avs" -vcodec libx264 -s 320x240 -aspect 4:3 -r 15 -b 256kb \ -minrate 200kb -maxrate 280kb -bufsize 256kb -acodec libmp3lame -ac 2 \ -ar 22050 -ab 64kb -y "output.mp4" When trans-coding is done, the Media Info show overall bit rate 440kb (it should be 320kb). Is their something wrong in the command. Or i have to use some other parameter? Plz provide your suggestion its very important.

  Hi, I have a command line C++ program that lets you enter basic information about a person (ID number, name, age, etc.) and I want to output to a console in the following manner: ------------------------------------------------------------------- Index ID # First Name Last Name Age ------------------------------------------------------------------- 0 1234 John Smith 25 The person objects are stored in an array of Persons and I've overload the ostream (<<) operator to print out all of the fields like you see. The dashed lines and header come from a displayHdg() function. Anyhow, I have not been able to figure out how to get the proper index value for the array. Ideally, I'd like to generate the indices for each line, but all my attempts have failed. The array is looped through and each object printed in the main() function, and the ostream is overloaded in a person class, so I tried to use global variables as well as static variables, and all of those produce incorrect numbering (i.e. show 0, 1 the first time (for 2 objects), then change to 1, 2 on the next display). Any ideas?

• webOS style view switching on iPhone app

  Hello, I have been working with a iPhone app that I would like to have switch views like the Palm Pre does for multitasking. I know the usual way of switching views by using the black bar at the bottom of the app but the app I am working on does not lend itself to having a big black bar in the way (see attached picture #1). I guess my question is, how do I shrink the current view (Current Location window) and show other views on the sides? (see attached picture #2) Then be able to swipe left and right to view other views. • Problems with .net and toolbar, menu & status bar rendermode (blue) and standard form (grey)

  Hiya, I'm a bit of a newbie to .NET so please ignore my ignorance. If you look at the above image (a complete prototype, ignore black bits :)) you will see lovely menus, toolbars & statusbars all using windows XP render mode and in a funky blue. Look at the form, labels, checkboxes and other buttons and you see horrible old school windows grey. These components don't have a render mode. My question: is there any way to show everything in XP style or do I have to chose new components? Thx. A.

• Browser popup blocker blocking jasper reports generated from flex

  Hi all, I have a flex application that uses navigateToURL() to call a servlet. The servlet in turn generates a JasperReport and then uses exportReport() to show the report in a new browser tab. Now, my problem is this. I want to generate multiple reports at once, each opening in its own tab. It all works fine except that in Firefox the built in browser pop-up blocker sees every new tab that is opened after the first report tab as a pop-up. It blocks this and is giving me endless headaches. I also tried this in IE8, Safari, Chrome and Opera with no problems. Any help as to how I can get past the Firefox pop-up blocker would be much appreciated. Pieter

• ASP.NET MVC 2 - ViewData empty after POST

  I don't really know where to look for an error... the situation: I have an ASPX view which contains a form and a few input's, and when I click the submit button everything is POST'ed to one of my ASP.NET MVC actions. When I set a breakpoint there, it is hit correctly. When I use FireBug to see what is sent to the action, I correctly see data1=abc&data2=something&data3=1234. However, nothing is arriving in my action method. ViewData is empty, there is no ViewData["data1"] or anything else that would show that data arrived. How can this be? Where can I start looking for the error?

• Looking for a real-time IMAP notification of new Emails

  I'm looking for a way to monitor a GMail inbox for new e-mails. However, I want to avoid checking every few minutes and I'm looking for some sort of real-time notification. I've noticed that Outlook (and other IMAP-supporting clients) instantly show when there is a new e-mail, but unfortunately all .NET IMAP libraries seem to lack this functionality. Does anyone know of an IMAP library that has this functionality? Or is there another way to be instantly notified of new message without doing some short-period polling?

  I wrote code that generate Excel file using REST JAX-RS and I confirmed that the generated Excel file is in GlassFish server directory. But my goal is when user click on the button (which generate Excel .xls), I want download popup to show up asking user whether to save or open the .xls file just like any other web services doing for downloading any type of files. According to my search, the step is: generate Excel .xls (DONE) write the excel to stream in JAX-RS file, set response header to something like, String fileName = "Blah_Report.xls"; response.setHeader("Content-Disposition", "attachment; filename=" + fileName); My question is I'm doing all of this in JAX-RS file and I don't have HttpServletResponse object available. According to the answer from Add Response Header to JAX-RS Webservice He says: You can inject a reference to the actual HttpServletResponse via the @Context annotation in your webservice and use addHeader() etc. to add your header. I can't really figure what exactly that means without sample code..

  Hola, I have an app i'm building in c#, and i'd like to have the ability to have a user click a "more information" icon next to a field, which will then show a callout with some blurb about why the field contains what it does. ideally it'd look a lot like the ValidatorCallout, but instead of being shown as a result of validation, it'll be shown as a result of a mouseclick, or hover. Stripped down, here's what I have: $('#next2btn').live('click', function(){ $(this).attr('id','next3btn'); $('#content2').show(300, function() { $('#account').fadeTo(500,1.0) var arc_params = { center: [278,120], radius: 186, start: -90, end: 90, dir: -1 }; }); $("#account").animate({path : new $.path.arc(arc_params)},1000); }); So, I'm trying to add this piece of code into what I have: var arc_params = { center: [278,120], radius: 186, start: -90, end: 90, dir: -1 }; }); $("#account").animate({path : new $.path.arc(arc_params)},1000) which works on its own as does the other. I'm thinking it's something about declaring that variable and where I do that. I'm essentially chaining a few different animations/actions upon a button click. Thanks for any insight- kj
