• Migrating JSF 1.2 to 2.x resulted in java.lang.NullPointerException at com.sun.faces.config.InitFacesContext.cleanupInitMaps

  I'm in process of migrating a JSF 1.2 application to JSF 2.x. My application is using the following APIs: maven-jetty-plugin (version 6.1.10) maven-compiler-plugin (version 2.3.1) myfaces-api & -impl (version 1.2.7) jsf-facelets (version 1.1.14) richfaces (version 3.3.3) javax servlet jstl (version 1.2) javax servlet-api (version 2.5) and some other plugins as well. I updated the versions in faces-config.xml file and removed Facelets 1.1.14 libs and replaced MyFaces 1.2 by JSF 2.x libs, however the application didn't work.   I have a database and a site having forms authentication. It is working fine with VS2008. This time, I am using "Trusted_connection =True". SQL server is based on windows authentication. What is the best approach to manage user to connect sql server? Should I enable sql server authentication? Let me know what to do so that it makes the production feel and there wouldn't be any problem during deployment. Note: Sql server is installed on domain server.

  When I try to start the TFS 2008 Build service on the port 9191 I get the following error message: Windows could not start the Visual Studio Team Foundation Build service on Local Computer. Error 1227: The network transport endpoint already has an address associated with it. If I use another port it works, but I need it to be the default, 9191. I tried using the following commands wcfhttpconfig.exe free 9191 wcfhttpconfig.exe reserve Domain\ServiceAccount 9191 Both commands succeeses, but the service does not start. I will appreciate any help!

  I'm currently in the process of creating a Silverlight 3 data driven application. To access the database, 2 common approaches are used: RIA Services and ADO.NET Data Services. Does anyone have any guidance on when/why to choose each approach? Here is what I've gathered from my research / experience. Any thoughts? ADO.NET seems to be only useful for strictly database calls. If you need to expose the data services to other applications (ignoring Silverlight 3's domain restriction), this is a good approach. Also, if the URL/Query syntax can be useful in your application, this is another advantage RIA Services seem to be a more flexible, accepted framework. It seems to give you more than strictly database access. It does have a limitation of only being used for the Silverlight / Web application as it is not exposed via a service. Thoughts? Ideas? Comments?

  I have some sites in IIS7 that are configured to run as domain users (MYDOMAIN\someuser). Any tips on how I can either allow ServerManager to decrypt this, or just tell IIS to store the passwords in plain text? This is on IIS7 under Windows 7 RC, by the way.

  Hi, I am working on adding In-App purchases to my app. I am able to receive the productsRequest:didReceiveResponse method, and receive the array of products. My problem arises when I add a SKPayment to the SKPaymentQueue. After I add the product to the queue, in the paymentQueue:updatedTransactions method the transactions always have the state SKPaymentTransactionStateFailed. I NSLog the "transaction.error" and this is what it returns: Error Domain=SKErrorDomain Code=0 UserInfo=0x165000 "Cannot connect to iTunes Store" I have logged out of the Store in the Settings app, but after trying to purchase a product in my app it never asks me to log in with my test account.   Hello, I'm having this annoyning problem giving this message in the console: Failed to launch simulated application: iPhone Simulator failed to find the process ID of com.iAndApp.BlockPop. When trying to Build and Run, the application builds fine. The simulator starts but doesn't start the application. However, it manages to do something since the icon for the app is installed in the simulator. I have been searching to find the answer and tried a couple of things, none that worked. This happens for both new and old projects. I.e. when I create a new project I will receive the same error message. I've tried several projects of which all get the same error, so it's not related to the code (and successful builds proves it). Among other things I have updated to xCode 3.2.2. in order to try to solve the problem. Using Mac OSX 10.6.3.   So I've been working on trying to figure this out, oddly when I ran it one machine I got a generic Axis Fault with no description, but now on another machine I'm getting a different error message, but I'm still stuck.   I'm trying to connect an Ubuntu laptop (9.10) with some kind of Cisco VPN device; I don't know what's on the other end, and I'm not likely to find out exactly what. I know my company allows VPN from Linux clients because they provide one that I cannot get to install (it fails to compile). I've had the most luck with the network-manager-vpnc package, however I can't figure out what's failing.   Hi, I have a simple setup, a WPF application running on the machine and a WCF service hosted within a Windows Service on the same machine (always on the same machine). When i debug on one computer i can easily access the local WCF Service. When i run it on another machine i get an error: "The server has rejected the client credentials." Some of my observations are, that at my local machine i have no domain/network. Its my home machine. When at a customers site, it will not run, and gives the above error. Anyone got any ideas on why this is different on these computers? /Brian

  I'm doing an iPhone version of a desktop site that includes a blog. The blog often embeds images from other domains (the image URLs always start with http:// in this case, obviously), but because I'm using cache-manifest, these images don't load because they aren't declared in the manifest file. I have a NETWORK: whitelist section that has all of my AJAX request files, etc. I've even whitelisted the flickr farm domains because a lot of the images we add to the blog come from our flickr page. The flickr images show up just fine, but any other "random" image hotlinks from another domain show broken. I tried adding a line like this: http:// to the NETWORK: section, but it doesn't seem to like http:// as a whitelist. Does anyone have any thoughts on this? Thanks! Alex

  Hi guys I've encountered a slight problem recently, or rather a lack of understanding of how NHibernate automapping works with RIA data services. Namely, I don't understand how to use Association and Include attributes. For instance, I've created two tables in my database and corresponding classes (that NHibernate correctly fills). The problem is, RIA doesn't generate properties (collections) bound by foreign key to other tables, on the client side, although I've defined them in my classes in my domain model... it generates just properties that belong to their own class, on the client side. I assume that these attributes aren't necessary since NHibernate automapper is supposed to fill those collections on it's own... I'm quite confused as to how this works. And I don't understand why RIA simply skips properties such as public virtual IList<Medication> Medications{ get; set; } during autogeneration. Any input is appreciated Thanks

I have my XML properly download from my webserver with a URL pointing to the server's file, however, when I detect the network is 'unreachable' I simply point the URL to my application's local XML and I get the following error (N.B. the file is a direct copy of the one on the server). I cannot find detail description, but I think it is saying that the URL is pointing to an inaccessible location. Am I storing this resource in the wrong location?   I am writing a C# windows service that is doing some churning through the eventlog on a few domain controllers. Some of them are Windows Server 2003 and some are Windows Server 2008. Upon the service stopping I am attempting to resume where I left off in the logs. In order to do this instead of SELECT * FROM Win32_NTLogEvent WHERE --criteria for events I am looking for I am doing SELECT * FROM Win32_NTLogEvent WHERE TimeGenerated = --some date AND --criteria for events I am looking for At one point I was convinced that the TimeGenerated field was in the local time of the server but now it seems that the Windows 2008 Servers are using GMT to record that time. Can anyone shed some light on if this is a real different between the way the two operating systems function or is this a configuration problem?

• XAMPP Redirecting to XAMPP directory on Internal Network

  I installed XAMPP on my desktop. I set up vhosts for about 5 sites and they are all working properly from the desktop itself. The problem arises whenever I try to access these vhosts from my laptop. I changed the hosts file on the laptop to redirect the laptop dev.domain.com requests to the desktop, however, when I try to access these sites from my laptop on the local network, I only receive the XAMPP welcome screen. It seems like when trying to access the vhosts on the desktop from the laptop the vhosts file is ignored as all requests are redirected to the xampp directory. What might I need to adjust to ensure access to the vhosts on the desktop from the laptop?

• Improving ANTLR DSL parse-error messages

  I'm working on a domain-specific language (DSL) for non-programmers. Non-programmers make a lot of grammar mistakes: they misspell keywords, they don't close parentheses, they don't terminate blocks, etc. I'm using ANTLR to generate my parser; it provides a nifty mechanism for handling RecognitionExceptions to improve error handling. But I'm finding it pretty hard to develop good error-handling code for my DSL. At this point, I'm considering ways to simplify the language to make it easier for me to provide users with high-quality error messages, but I'm not really sure how to go about this. I think I want to reduce the ambiguity of errors somehow, but I'm not sure how to implement that idea in a grammar. In what ways can I simplify my language to improve parse-error messages for my users? EDIT: Updated to clarify that I'm interested in ways to simplify my language, not just ANTLR error-handling tips in general. (Though, thanks for those!)

• Cannot access MOSS site from within MOSS server

  I am trying to access my MOSS site through the browser on the web server itself. I am using the same URL that is used for external access to the site. When I hit it from outside the server, I can see most of the site, which has anonymous access, and can use a domain account to get into secure areas. When I hit it from within the server, I get prompted for a password, but no matter what I enter it seems to reject it and just presents another password dialog. Has anyone seen anything like this?
