• jQuery Cycle plugin: One pager to control multiple slideshow on a page

  Hi there, I have a cycle plugin set up on a page (images) with a pager to control the horizontal slide. My issue is that there is a transparent overlay that needs to sit over part of the images for some text relating to each image but would rather have that with a different transition effect for this so it doesn't slide in from the left. Am I able to set up to slideshows, each with 3 pieces of related content, that I can position correctly and have them controlled with the one pager? • Can MYSQL filter by date if date is stored as text? ex "02/10/1984"

  Hello! I am trying to modify an app for a client which has already a database of over 1000 items. The dates are stored as text in the database with the format "02/10/1984". The system allows you to add and remove fields to the catalog dynamically and it also allows the advanced search to have specific fields be allowed. The problem is that it wasn't designed with dates in mind, so when I set a field as a date, and try to search by a range the query is trying to do a AND (cfv0.value = 01/02/2004 AND cfv0.value <= 05/03/2008) . I can make it so the date range passed is a numeric time value. Is there a way that when sending the query, it takes the text fields (with the date) and converts it to numeric time value so at that point I am basically just comparing numbers which would work fine. I do not have the option to change all the current date to numeric value due to the way the dynamic fields are set up. Thanks guys!

  I am trying to automate some of the build process for my asp.net apps by creating the virtual directories it needs and setting all their settings in a batch file. So far I have been able to figure out how to create virtual directories, but how to do you configure them beyond that? For example I need to be able to set them as an application, set the default document, change framework version, turn on integrated authentication, etc. Does anyone know of any scripts that can do all this without a third party utility? Does the adsutil.vbs admin script do any of this?

Is the logic/design sound? Anyhow, to the specifics: The Employees object has a method, clean_all_phone_numbers(), which calls clean_phone_number() on each Employee object inside it. Is this bad design? If so, why? Also, is the way I'm calling lookup_all_supervisors() bad? Originally, I wrapped the clean_phone_number() and lookup_supervisor() method in a single function, with a single for-loop inside it. clean_phone_number is O(n), I believe, lookup_supervisor is O(n^2) - is it ok splitting it into two loops like this? In clean_all_phone_numbers(), I'm looping on the Employee objects, and settings their values using return/assignment - should I be setting this inside clean_phone_number() itself? There's also a few things that I'm sorted of hacked out, not sure if they're bad practice - e.g. print_employee() and gd_formatted() both use __dict__, and the constructor for Employee uses setattr() to convert a dictionary into instance attributes. I'd value any thoughts at all. If you think the questions are too broad, let me know and I can repost as several split up (I just didn't want to pollute the boards with multiple similar questions, and the three questions are more or less fairly tightly related).   I am trying to write a pre-commit hook script that will alter a specific svn-property of a folder/file. The script looks fairly similar to the one that is documented in the svn book. I figured out how to set/change the property of a node and when executing the binding function svn.fs.commit_txn the property of the node actually gets set. But at the moment tortoise always gives me a conflict on the folder I am altering the property. I wrote my script with Python but am new python and hook scripts. Hope someone can give me a clue why I am getting this conflict..

  I'm facing an issue with file download with IE6-8 in non ssl environment. I've seen a lot of articles about the IE attachment download issue with ssl. As per the articles I tried to set the values of Pragma, Cache-Control headers, but still no luck with it. These are my response headers Cache-Control: private, max-age=5 Date: Tue, 25 May 2010 11:06:02 GMT Pragma: private Content-Length: 40492 Content-Type: application/pdf Content-Disposition: Attachment;Filename="file name.pdf" Server: Apache-Coyote/1.1 I've set the header values after going through some of these sites KB 812935 KB 316431 But these items are related to SSL. I've checked the response body and headers using fiddler, the response body is proper. I'm using window.open(url, "_blank") to download the file, if I change it to window.open(url, "_parent") or change the "Content-Disposition" to 'inline;Filename="file name.pdf"' it works fine. Please help me to solve this problem

In earlier versions of Asp.Net, if parent control had its ViewState disabled, then child controls also had their ViewState disabled, even if their EnableViewState was set to true. a) Thus if I understand it correctly, then a child control C having ViewStateMode property set to “Enable” causes C to save its view state, even if parent control has its view state disabled? b) Is there a reason why ViewStateMode property hasn’t/couldn’t be implemented in earlier versions of Asp.Net? thanx

• How can I capture the keystroke that triggers "CellEndEdit" on a DataGridView in C#?

  I have a DataGridView that is set to EditOnF2. I do some special processing of data in the CellEndEdit eventhandler that sets the value of the cell. I still want the functionality of the EditOnKeystrokeOrF2 of reverting to the original value when the Esc key is pressed. Unfortunately, at the CellEndEdit eventhandler, I don't see a way to tell what caused the CellEndEdit event to be fired. I only want to change the value of the cell if the Esc key is not pressed. How can I tell if it was or not? Edit: It is worth noting that the KeyDown event does not get fired when the cell is being edited, nor for the final ending keystroke. Edit2: I have tried the KeyPreview suggestion, but the form still does not capture the Escape key being pressed. Edit3: I've been experimenting with trying to get this working. I originally posted some of the following as a separate post, but feel it might be more relevant to include it here. I have a cell in a DataGridView that is now set to EditProgrammatically. To capture the keystroke that starts an edit, I am setting the cell.Value equal to the keystroke. However, this ruins the "Escape" functionality of the cell - when you press escape, instead of reverting to the original value, it reverts to the keystroke that I programmatically inserted into the cell. I believe that if I could set the "EditedFormattedValue" on a cell, this would be where I want to put my keystroke value, however this appears to be read only. How can I accomplish what I am attempting? An example to clarify: If the cell has a value of "54.3" in it, and I press the "9" key, it begins editing the cell and places a "9" there. If I hit Escape, instead of reverting to "54.3" it reverts to "9". What I want is for it to return to its original value of "54.3". So, I am trying to tackle this issue from both the beginning and the end. I think the real problem is that I am overwriting the original value and have no way to determine if I should revert it or not. Edit4: It looks like CellValidating might be worth using, but I am seeing strange behavior when I experiment with it. In a new project, I create the DataGridView and register for the various events and see that CellValidating is fired before the CellEndEdit. However, in my project where I am trying to get this to work, CellEndEdit is firing BEFORE CellValidating. Any ideas on what the difference might be?

• emacs indentation in asm mode

  I am looking for the equivalent of c-indent-level and ruby-indent-level, for asm-mode. That is, I want to force the indentation to 4 spaces, and I want them to be replaced with blanks. What I've seen tells me it does not exist for asm-mode. Could someone please tell me this is wrong? I tried this also: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/69934/set-4-space-indent-in-emacs-in-text-mode , to no av. I have tried: (setq tab-width 4) (setq indent-line-function 'insert-tab) (setq asm-indent-level 4) This works however: (custom-set-variables '(tab-stop-list (quote (4 8 12 16 20 24 28 32 36 40 44 48 52 56 60 64 68 72 76 80 84 88 92 96 100 104 108 112 116 120)))) But I wonder if there is a way to define that for asm-mode only. What if I wanted to keep the default tab behaviour for other modes?

I was wondering if this is the best way to get the rows in the table which lie between those date or if there is a faster way. The table has about 750,000 records in it right now and it will continue to grow. The query is pretty fast but I'd like to make it faster if possible.

• Stack trace in website project, when debug = false

  We have a website project. We are logging unhanded exceptions via a appdomain level exception handler. When we set debug= true in web.config, the exception log is showing the offending line numbers in the stack trace. But when we set debug = false, in web.config, log is not displaying the line numbers. We are not in a position to convert the website project in to webapplication project type at this time. Its legacy application and almost all the code is in aspx pages. We also need to leave the project in 'updatable' mode. i.e. We can't user pre-compile option. We are generating pdb files. Is there anyway to tell this kind of website projects to generate the pdb files, and show the line numbers in the stack trace?

  Can anyone give me a hand improving the performance of this cursor logic from SQL 2000. It runs great in SQl2005 and SQL2008, but takes at least 20 minutes to run in SQL 2000. BTW, I would never choose to use a cursor, and I didn't write this code, just trying to get it to run faster. The only thing it does is receives incoming calls and executes a Perl script. No outgoing calls, no incoming calls to an actual phone, no phones registered with Asterisk. It seems like there should be an easy way to block all unauthorized registration attempts, but I have struggled with this for a long time. It seems like there should be a more effective way to prevent these attempts from even getting far enough to reach my Asterisk logs. Some setting I could turn on/off that doesn't allow registration attempts at all or something. Is there any way to do this? Also, am I correct in assuming that the "Registration from ..." messages are likely people attempting to get access to my Asterisk server (probably to make calls on my account)? And what's the difference between those messages and the "Sending fake auth rejection ..." messages? Further detail: I know that the "Registration from ..." lines are intruders attempting to get access to my Asterisk server. With Fail2Ban set up, these IPs are banned after 5 attempts (for some reason, one got 6 attempts, but w/e). But I have no idea what the "Sending fake auth rejection ..." messages mean or how to stop these potential intrusion attempts. As far as I can tell, they have never been successful (haven't seen any weird charges on my bills or anything). Here's what I have done: Set up hardware firewall rules as shown below. Here, xx.xx.xx.xx is the IP address of the server, yy.yy.yy.yy is the IP address of our facility, and aa.aa.aa.aa, bb.bb.bb.bb, and cc.cc.cc.cc are the IP addresses that our VoIP provider uses. This is sort of working, but it's reactive instead of proactive, and doesn't seem to be blocking everything (like the "Sending fake auth rejection ..." messages). • MySQL Insert Statement Queue

  We are building an ajax application in which a users input is submitted for processing to a php script. We are currently writing every request to a log file for tracking. I would like to move this tracking into a database table but I do not want to run a insert statement after request. What I would like to do is set up a 'queue' of transactions (inserts and updates) that need to be processed on the MySQL database. I would then set up a cron job or process to check and process the transactions in the queue. Is there something out there that we could build upon or do we have to just write to plain ol' text log files and process them?

I would like to use Window.Top to set the position of the window, but I think due to animations I cannot set the top. I was wondering if anyone knows how to fix this? Thanks example. window.top is already = 33. but when is ay window.top =900; it will stay at 33.

• jqueryForm and empty uploads

  Hi All, Been scratching my head for too long on this: Using jquery.form, (http://malsup.com/jquery/form) with PHP ... my $_FILES['someimage'] gets set but the error number is always UPLOAD_ERR_NO_FILE, size is also 0. The JavaScript: $('form input[type=file]').change(function(){ $(this).clone().appendTo('#imgform'); $('#imgform').ajaxForm(); $('#imgform').ajaxSubmit( { type:'POST' } ); }); Which appends to: <form id="imgform" method="POST" action="/api/images.php" enctype="multipart/form-data"></form> From another form which has bog-standard file inputs. PHP logs are clean, but var_dumping $_FILES always shows that the index is set to the name of the form element ... but no data. Thanks guys! • Whats the best way to stop this app crash when buttons rapidly pressed iphone obj-c

  Hi, I'm not entirely sure why this crash is happening and I'd like to get advice on the best way to deal with it. My app has 3 buttons. Each button requests a different XML file from a server which is used to populate a table view. If I rapidly press the buttons in sequence , button 1 button 2 button3 button 1 button 2 button3 button 1 button 2 button3 the application quits. What could be causing this. Would id be in the NSURLRequest side of things or the table view population side? How would you suggest I stop this behaviour? I was going to just set a boolean "isRequesting" to true when a button is pressed and set it to false when the table view is finished populating. If any button is pressed while isRequesting is True they do nothing. Does that sound wise or is there a better way? Thanks, dub

• In C#, can I hide/modify accessors in subclasses?

  I'm not even sure what this principle is called or how to search for it, so I sincerely apologize if it has been brought up before, but the best way to do it is with an example. class Properties { public string Name { get; set; } } class MyClass { class SubProperties: Properties { public override Name { get { return GetActualName(); } set { _value = SetActualName(value); } } } public SubProperties ClassProperties; private GetActualName() { ClassProperties.Name = "name"; } private SetActualName(string s) { ClassProperties.Name = SomeOtherFunction(s); } } The idea is to have any object that instantiates MyClass have a fully accessible property ClassProperties. To that object, it would look exactly like a Properties object, but behind the scenes, MyClass is actually computing and modifying the results of the fields. This method of declaration is obviously wrong since I can't access GetActualName() and SetActualName() from within the SubProperties definition. How would I achieve something like this?

• On Edit Grid view Multiple row edit validation

  I am using a telerik radgrid so there are around 5 columns each column edittemplate contains a control along with a required field validator and also a property called AllowMultiRowEdit is set to true so i am able to multiple rows in edit mode. If any of the values are cleared the for multiple rows I want only those to be validated on update of that particular row. So i implemented the Grids item data bound event find each and every validator along with the update button and set a unique validation group. The above implementation most times but fails at some time. Is there any other way of going about this ?
