    How do I stop VS 2010 (RC) from autocompleting html helpers with new object { ... } when I just want to pass in an anonymous type? Backspacing is driving me crazy. e.g., VS wants: <%=Html.ActionLink("Register", "Register", new object { controller = "Account" }) %> I know the helper is declared expecting object, which is why it does this, but can I change this behavior just for mvc helpers?

  • "Use windows xp style dpi scaling" disables automatic auto-hide of taskbar on W7. Workaround?

    We noticed that on W7 with DPI set to 125% or to 100% with ("Use windows xp style dpi scaling") turned off, our fullscreen mode (which sets the client rect of our window = desktop rect of the main monitor) no longer hides the task bar like it does for other settings. (The setting can be found in the Control Panel\Appearance and Personalization\Display section after clicking on the "Set custom text size (DPI)" link) I found the following interesting article: http://www.mathies.com/weblog/?p=908 So I set out to try to work around the bug in other means than manually hiding/restoring the taskbar visibility but so far I've failed and currently believe it's a bug in W7 (and possibly vista). The following applications also fail to work properly in fullscreen mode (the taskbar is still visible): * Microsoft Visual Studio 2008 * Microsoft Word 2007 * Adobe Reader 9.1.3 These apps work (probably by hiding the task bar through the WIN32 API): * Powerpoint Slide Show I also tried creating a brand new MFC-based app and use its "SetFullScreenMode()" functionality but it fails in the same way as all other apps on the list.   • Html + Css: How to create a auto-resizing rotated background?

    Hi, image a complete black web page. On this web page is a 100% size white div that fills the whole page. I'd like to rotate this div by -7 degrees (or 7 degrees counter-clock wise). This will result in the black background being visible in triangles on the edges, just like you had placed a piece of paper on a desk and turned it a bit to the left. Actually this can be done with some css and it's working quite well (except for IE). The real problem now is: I'd like to have a normal, non-rotated div element on top of that to display the content in, so that only the background is rotated. Rotating a contained div counterwise doesn't work though, because through the two transformations the text will be blurry in all browsers. How can I realize that? Best would be a solution workiing in current Webkit browsers, FF3.5+ and IE7+. If only IE8+ I could live with that too.

  • How to find out efficiently the auto-generated id for a new object when using JPA?

    Hello, I have an attribute which is annotated with @Id. The ID is going to be generated automatically when persisting the object. That means that the ID-value is not defined before I persist the object. After persisting it, it has an ID (in the database), but unfortunately the field still remains null as long as I don't reload it from the DB. is there any easy way to find out the generated id? Or better: To configure that it will be written into the field? Thanks in advance

    Hey guys, i've got 2 GeoPoints given to show them on the map with markers... so far so good... how can I get the optimum zoom level for the MapController in order to focus the middle of both points, but also have them on the map. The whole thing should work at different screen resolutions. Sorry for asking that silly question, I know thats not very difficult, but at the moment my head is boiling :/

Like what you see, the container does not fit the content except if the squares are positioned in Relative, is there a solution for this?   • How to replace auto-implemented c# get body at runtime or compile time?

    I've been trying to figure this out all night, but I guess my knowledge of the .Net Framework just isn't that deep and the problem doesn't exactly Google well, but if I can get a nod in the right direction I'm sure I can implement it, one way or another. I'd like to be able to declare a property decorated with a custom attribute as such: public MyClass { [ReplaceWithExpressionFrom(typeof(SomeOtherClass))] public virtual bool MyProperty { get; } } public SomeOtherClass : IExpressionHolder<MyClass, bool> { ... } public interface IExpressionHolder<TArg, TResult> { Expression<Func<TArg, TResult>> Expression { get; } } And then somehow - this is the part I'm having trouble figuring - replace the automatically generated implementation of that getter with a piece of custom code, something like: Type expressionHolderType = LookupAttributeCtorArgTypeInDeclarationOfPropertyWereReplacing(); return ReplaceWithExpressionFromAttribute.GetCompiledExpressionFrom(expressionHolderType)(this); The main thing I'm not sure how to do is replace the automatic implementation of the get. The first thing that came to mind was PostSharp, but that's a more complicated dependency than I care for. I'd much prefer a way to code it without using post-processing attached to the build (I think that's the jist of how PostSharp sinks its hooks in anyway). The other part of this I'm not so sure about is how to retrieve the type parameter passed to the particular instantiation of the ReplaceWithExpressionFrom attribute (where it decorates the property whose body I want to replace; in other words, how do I get typeof(SomeOtherClass) where I'm coding the get body replacement). I plan to cache compiled expressions from concrete instances of IExpressionHolder, as I don't want to do that every time the property gets retrieved. I figure this has just got to be possible. At the very least I figure I should be able to search an assembly for any method decorated with the attribute and somehow proxy the class or just replace the IL or .. something? And I'd like to make the integration as smooth as possible, so if this can be done without explicitly calling a registration or initialization method somewhere that'd be super great. Thanks!

  • Is it possible to auto update only selected properties on an existent entity object without touching the others

    Say I have a bunch of boolean properties on my entity class public bool isActive etc. Values which will be manipulated by setting check boxes in a web application. I will ONLY be posting back the one changed name/value pair and the primary key at a time, say { isActive : true , NewsPageID: 34 } and the default model binder will create a NewsPage object with only those two properties set. Now if I run the below code it will not only update the values for the properties that have been set on the NewsPage object created by the model binder but of course also attempt to null all the other non set values for the existent entity object because they are not set on NewsPage object created by the model binder. Is it possible to somehow tell entity framework not to look at the properties that are set to null and attempt to persist those changes back to the retrieved entity object and hence database ? Perhaps there's some code I can write that will only utilize the non-null values and their property names on the NewsPage object created by model binder and only attempt to update those particular properties ?   • C++ corrupt my thinking, how to trust auto garbage collector?

    I use to program mainly with C/C++, that's make me dealing with pointers and memory management daily. This days I'm trying to develop using other tools, such as Java, Python and Ruby. The problem is that I keep thinking C++ style, I'm writing code as C++ usually written in almost every programming language, and the biggest problem is the memory management, I keep writing bad code using references in Java and just get as close as I can to the C++ style. So I need 2 thinks here, one is to trust the garbage collector, let's say by seeing benchmarks and proofs that it's realy working in Java, and know what I should never do in order to get my code the best way it can be. And the second think is knowing how to write other languages code. I mean I know what to do, I'm just never write the code as most Java or Python programmers usually do, are there any books for C++ programmers just to introduce me to the writing conventions? (by the way, forgive me for my English mistakes)

    My question may be a part of an old topic - "properties vs fields". I have situation where variable is read-only for outside class but needs to modified inside a class. I can approach it in 2 ways: First: private Type m_Field; public Type MyProperty { get { return m_Field; } } Second: public Type MyProperty { get; private set; } After reading several articles (that mostly covered benefits of using public properties instead of public fields) I did not get idea if the second method has some advantage over the first one but writing less code. I am interested which one will be better practice to use in projects (and why) or it's just a personal choice. Maybe this question does not belong to SO so I apologize in advance.

    I am looking at try to increment and decrement by three records through a table and present those records. Say if the id '4' is currently active. I want the to be display the ID's and category of 3.2.1 and 5.6.7 from an increment and decrement So far I have: $stmt = $db->query("SELECT id, category FROM test"); $stmt->execute(); while ($results = $stmt->fetch(PDO::FETCH_ASSOC)) { $current = $results['id']; $category = $results['category']; $next = array(array('slide_no' => $current, 'category' => $category)); } print_r($next); Now with this, I am getting back every row in the table. I'm now getting confused on how I could increment and decrement the records by 3 and make sure that the category will also increment correctly. Thank you very much.

    So I have a couple of arrays $array_1 = Array('one','two','three'); $array_2 = Array('red','blue','green'); Is there a dynamic way to create the Setters and Getters for an array with single value entries? So the class would be something like: class xFromArray() { } So the above if I passed $array_1 it would generate something like this: private $one; setOne($x) { $one = $x; } getOne() { return $one; } if I passed $array_2 it would generate something like this: private $red; setRed($x) { $red = $x; } getRed() { return $red; } So I would call it somehow like this?     Hello! I have these 2 tables, Medication containing: IDMedication, IDCategory, Name, and Supplier, containing: IDSupplier, Name. I want to automatically create a relationship table, MedicationSupplier, containing: IDMedication and IDSupplier as keys, Price, and Quantity. My idea was to have a main page where i request the following data: (Medication)Name, IDCAtegory, (Supplier)Name, Price, Quantity. I'm not sure if i'm doing the right thing here. So this is what i'm receiveing in the .php where i do the insert: $Denumire=$_POST['Denumire']; //Medication Name $IDCategorie=$_POST['IDCategorie']; //IDCategory $Nume=$_POST['Nume']; //Supplier Name $Pret=$_POST['Pret']; //Price $Stoc=$_POST['Stoc']; //Quantity And this is my insert: $q_produse = "INSERT INTO produse VALUES ('','$IDCategorie','$Denumire')"; $q_prodfurniz = "INSERT INTO produsfurnizor VALUES ('','$IDFurnizor','$Pret','$Stoc')"; mysql_query($q_produse) or die($error); mysql_query($q_prodfurniz) or die($error); mysql_close(); My main problem at the moment is that i don't know how to insert IDMedication in the relationship table.
