• Redirected wikipedia request

  Hi people, i need to write a program, that can redirect's http://localhost:8080 to en.wikipedia.org, it seems to be easy, but i have some problems(only with wikipedia with another sites works good). I make url to wikipedia: URL url = new URL("http", "en.wikipedia.org", 80, "/wiki"); than URLConnection, extract headers, and when i want connection.getInputStream(), i received message 404 Not Found. So i have tried some hack for host header, because in this way host header is localhost:8080, therefor i have tried to change host header to wikipedia, and it works, but after request in browser http://localhost:8080 wikipedia opens, but url in browser changes to en.wikipedia.org, but i want proceed with localhost :)

• new image makes http request even though cached?

  I have a javascript slide show that creates the next slide dynamically and then moves it into view. Since the images are actually sprites, the src is transparent.png and the actual image is mapped via background:url(.. in css. Everytime (well, most of the time) the script creates a new Element, Firefox makes an http request for transparent.png. I have a far-future expires header, and Firefox is respecting all other files' expiries. Is there a way to avoid these unnecessary requests. Even though the server is returning 304 unmodified responses, it would be nice if Firefox would respect the expiries on dynamically created images. I suspect that if I injected a simple string instead of using new Element, this might solve the problem, but I use some methods on Prototypes extended Element object, so I would like to avoid a bunch of html strings in my js file. This is a nit-picky question, but I'm working on front-end optimization now, so I thought I would address it. Thanks.

  Hi folks, I have developed a windows services to retrieve all response data provided by the EPO webservices. While scrapping the data through internet, after few hours i recieve a error message as: Error: ** Please request bibliographic data in smaller chunks.** Here bibliographic data is one kind of the service provided by the EPO webservice. I hope there is no error with my inputs and the service provided. I dont know what this error means. Is it related to the internet connection or with my webservices? can anyone please help me on what this error actually mean?

  Hi, Could someone provide the basic code to use if I want to perform a http request on android to the address "address" with the string "message" ? Also I'd like to check the server response and perform some actions if the right conditions meet , but I ' m unsure of how and when the server send back the response . My guess is that the response is gotten in a blocking function, or in an asynchronous function . Could you provide code or information on this as well ? • "lock request time out period exceeded" Error When Trying to See DB Hierarchies

  I have a DB that I can run basic queries (albeit much slower than normal) off of. When I try to see the hierarchy trees for tables, views, or procedures in SSMS Object Explorer, I get the "lock request time out period exceeded". My Report Server reports that run off of objects in this DB are no longer completing. Jobs associated with procedures stored on this DB also do not run. I tried using sp_who2 to find and kill all connections on the DB. This has not solved the problem. What is going on here? How can I resolve this?

• MooTools Problem in IE with Request

  I have this class method in a mootools class: getData : function(){ var r = new Request.JSON({ url : this.container.getAttribute('data-url'), method : 'post', onSuccess : function(j){ this.cards = j; this.prepareQuiz(); }.bind(this) }).send(); }, In any browser aside from IE this works fine, but in IE I get a this.cards is not defined in a method that occurs after the this.prepareQuiz method does it's stuff. I narrowed the problem to this section by adding an if ($defined(this.cards)) before the this.prepareQuiz call and if I just keep refreshing the page 1 out of every 5 or so times it will work. So the this.cards variable is not being set some of the time for some reason. Why would this happen?

  I created a jquery collection that stores xml as follows: var rh_request = $('') .attr('user_id', user_id) .attr('company_id', company_id) .attr('action', 'x'); I want to post it to my server via an ajax request as follows: $.ajax({ type: "POST", url: mywebsiteURL, processData: false, dataType: "xml", data: rh_request.html(), success: mycallbackfunction }); My problem is that the "data" parameter of the ajax call needs a string version of the xml and it seems neither Jquery's .html() or .text() function yields this. I have older code that used straight javascript to form the outgoing xml and calling the DOM .xml() function yielded a string that worked. How is this done with a jquery collection???

  Hi, I am using an SMS Gateway to make my application receive SMSs. For this, the SMS Gateway sends a request to one of the pages in my application with the message as a querystring parameter. eg. http://myapplication/SMSReceiver.aspx?Message=PaulaIsHome. Now after my page gets invoked, I need to send an OK response to the SMS Gateway so that it doesn't keep retrying to send the same message to my application again and again. • Retrieve web user's Identity outside of request scope

  I have an ASP.NET app that logs Audit reports using nHibernate's IPreUpdateListener. In order to set the current user in the Listener events, I was using System.Security.Principal.WindowsIdentity.GetCurrent(). This works fine when debugging on my machine, but when I move it to the staging server, I'm getting the ASP.NET process credentials, not the requesting user. In the ASP.NET page, I can use Request.LogonUserIdentity (which works fine since I'm using integrated authentication), but how do I reference this user directly without having to pass it directly to my event? I don't want to have to pass this info through the pipeline because it really doesn't belong in the intermediate events/calls.

But I was just wondering if it possible to send an url request to the service that will return an image with multiple markers on the image? (ie. more than one locations marked).   In some enterprise-like project (.NET, WCF) i saw that all service contracts accept a single Request parameter and always return Response: [DataContract] public class CustomerRequest : RequestBase { [DataMember] public long Id { get; set; } } [DataContract] public class CustomerResponse : ResponseBase { [DataMember] public CustomerInfo Customer { get; set; } } where RequestBase/ResponseBase contain common stuff like ErrorCode, Context, etc. Bodies of both service methods and proxies are wrapped in try/catch, so the only way to check for errors is looking at ResponseBase.ErrorCode (which is enumeration). I want to know how this technique is called and why it's better compared to passing what's needed as method parameters and using standard WCF context passing/faults mechanisms?

  Users attempting to check out files from a particular Subversion 1.4.x repository with Apache 2.2 on Windows 2003 have suddenly begun getting an error message in their log windows upon checkout with TortoiseSVN 1.4: Error REPORT request failed on '/[path_to_repo]/!svn/vcc/default' Error REPORT of '/[path_to_repo]/!svn/vcc/default': 200 OK (http://[server_name]) This started following an hd crash on the server and subsequent restore of about 10 subversion repositories. Only one repository is having this problem after an attempted working directory reconciliation. The repo owner reconcile their working directory with the repository by modifying/deleting the hidden .svn directories (though this was not advised). I can't find anything on the Internets that represents my situation. The restored server is exactly as the original and no other repositories on this server are throwing errors. Any ideas on 1) what this error is and 2) how to fix it?

  I would like to send a html string with a GET request like this with Apaches HttpClient: http://sample.com/?html=<html><head>... This doesnt work at the moment, i think its an encoding problem. Do you have any ideas how to do that? method.setQueryString(new NameValuePair[] {new NameValuePair("report", "<html>....")}); client.executeMethod(method) This fails with org.apache.commons.httpclient.NoHttpResponseException: The server localhost failed to respond. If i replace "<html>" by "test.." it works fine. EDIT It seams to be a problem of URL length after encoding, the server doesnt except such long URls. Sending it as POST solves the problem.

  My application checks a number of domains to see if they are valid (approx 100). This works fine. The only problem I have is when I put this in a loop I want it to run in parallel. So I don't have to wait for domain 1 to respond before I can request domain 2. I have managed this in PHP using curl_multi to run the requests in parallel. Is there a similar thing I can do in Rails?

  I'm using curl multi API for multiple curl requests. first I'm using a single request to login to a site and save the cookie file. then I'm using the curl multi API to get some data from that site. The problem I'm facing is that from some reason the cookie file does not get read and I'm redirecting to the main login page.   Using jQuery to create new DOM elements from text. Example: jQuery('<div><img src="/some_image.gif"></img></div>'); When this statement is executed, it causes the browser to request the file 'some_img.gif' from the server. Is there a way to execute this statement so that the resulting jQuery object can be used from DOM traversal, but not actually cause the browser to hit the server with requests for images and other referenced content? Example: var jquery_elememnts = jQuery('<div><img class="a_class" src="/some_image.gif"></img></div>'); var img_class = jquery_elememnts.find('img').attr('class'); The only idea I have now is to use regex to remove all of the 'src' tags from image elements and other things that will trigger the browser requests before using jQuery to evaluate the HTML. How can jQuery be used to evaluate HTML without triggering the browser to make requests to the server for referenced content inside the evaluated HTML? Thanks!
