• Why does a user have to enter "Profile" data to enter data into other tables?

  EDIT It appears the user has to enter some data for his profile, otherwise I get this error below. I guess if there is no profile data, the user can not continue to enter data in other tables by default? I do not want to make entering user profile data a requirement to use the rest of the sites functionality, how can I get around this? Currently I have been testing everything with the same user and everything has been working fine. However, when I created a new user for the very first time and tried to enter data into my custom table, I get the following error. The INSERT statement conflicted with the FOREIGN KEY constraint "FK_UserData_aspnet_Profile". The conflict occurred in database "C:\ISTATE\APP_DATA\ASPNETDB.MDF", table "dbo.aspnet_Profile", column 'UserId'. The statement has been terminated. Not sure why I am getting this error. I have the user controls set up in ASP.NET 3.5 however all I am using is my own table or at least that I am aware of. I have a custom UserData table that includes the columns: id, UserProfileID, CL, LL, SL, DateTime (id is the auto incremented int) The intent is that all users will add their data in this table and as I mentioned above it has been working fine for my original first user I created. However, when i created a new user I am getting this problem. • CSS Position Absolute constant top margin

  This question sounds simple but I'm an expert with CSS and I'm thinking it's impossible (a RARE thing). Is it possible to use CSS to give a a page a constant top margin if that div has no background (e.g. you can see through it)? Basically, I want the background image to be visible in the top 100px of a site, so that even when scrolling down, that top-margin remains in place. • Compiling a c++ project using blas (Fortran) in Matlab mex

  I am trying to use a package here. I have no problem compiling it under 64-bit Linux as all the Makefiles are already provides. Only minor changes are needed, which I can handle. However, I have a problem compiling it under 64-bit Windows. I have installed gfortran and also compiled BLAS and CBLAS to their static libraries. The problem is that Matlab mex does not support GCC in windows, so I need to use VC 2008 instead. I found in the Makefile this line is to get the final klr_train.mexw64: klr_train.$(MEX_EXT): klr_train.cpp $(MEX) $(MEX_OPTION) klr_train.cpp ../libklr/libklr.cpp $(CBLASDIR)/lib/LINUX/cblas_LINUX.a $(BLASDIR)/blas_LINUX.a -lgfortran I don't know how to execute this line using VC 2008's command line tool cl. As cl obviously does not support -lgfortran, which I think is used to link some library in gfortran to support BLAS.

  I need to write a unit test suite for a project I am developing in my spare time. Being a CL newbie I was overwhelmed by the amount of choices for a CL implementation, I spent quite some time to choose one. Now I am facing exactly the same thing with unit test frameworks. A quick glance at http://www.cliki.net/test%20framework shows 20 unit test frameworks! Choice is good but for a novice like me this can be a bit confusing and given the number of frameworks it would be painful to try them all. I would like to use a framework which: Is reasonably well maintained Easy to use but with some degree of flexibility Offers some sort of integration with Emacs (or it is possible to easily integrate it with Emacs) Integration with git post-commit hooks Integration with a continous integration system (such as buildbot) What are your experiences in this field?

• Insane CPU usage in QT 5.0

  I'm having trouble using the QT framework, particularly with the paintEvent of QWidget. I have a QWidget set up, and am overriding the paintEvent of it. I need to render a bunch of rectangles (grid system), 51 by 19, leading to 969 rectangles being drawn. This is done in a for loop. Then I also need to draw an image on each on of these grids. The QWidget is added to a QMainWindow, which is shown. This works nicely, but it's using up 47% of CPU per window open! And I want to allow the user to open multiple windows like this, likey having 3-4 open at a time, which puts the CPU close to 150%. Why does this happen? Here is the paintEvent contents.   I'm having an inconsistency when compiling a DLL (let's call it x.dll) by calling cl.exe obj1.obj obj2.obj ... lib1.lib lib2.lib ... /link /out:x.dll /dll /debug and When using the IDE (which calls link directly, I believe). Let's say lib1.lib is an import library for lib1.dll. Opening the DLL generated by calling cl.exe in the depency walker shows it depends on lib1.dll. However, when using the IDE, the generated program is smaller and does not depend on lib1.dll. This IDE-generated image makes the program that uses x.dll crash sometimes. The question is: how do I get the correct behaviour from the IDE?

  in C++ Primer 4th edition 2.1.1, it says "when assigning an out-of-range value to a signed type, it is up to the compiler to decide what value to assign". I can't understand it. I mean, if you have code like "char 5 = 299", certainly the compiler will generate asm code like "mov BYTE PTR _sc$[ebp], 43"(VC) or "movb $43, -2(%ebp)"(gcc+mingw), it IS decided by the compiler. but what if we assign a value that is given by the user input? like, via command line? and the asm code generated will be "movb %al, -1(%ebp)"(gcc+mingw) and " mov cl, BYTE PTR _i$[ebp] mov BYTE PTR _sc$[ebp], cl "(VC), so now how can compiler decide what will happen? I think now it is decided by the CPU. Can you give me a clear explanation?

  I'm having trouble with the alignment of two images on the footer of my temporary website (http://www.rotimioyewole.com). I'm new to the YUI grid, which I think may be a factor. It should look roughly like this (works correctly in Chrome and Safari, haven't tested IE yet): (http://cl.ly/44fH) But on FF and Opera look like this: http://cl.ly/44aO If I can have some sort of consistency then the website would at least be presentable. Ideally, I would also like to align both images on the same Y axis, as well as the text next to the icons. I had trouble figuring out how to search for a solution..can anybody help me?   I need to run overnight automation testing using RFT and IE on Windows7 virtual machine. I found that restarting the Windows box before the testing starts helps. I am moving the production environment from Windows XP to Windows 7. RFT used to complain when running RFT scripts that CRFCN0557E: Activation failed when running under a Terminal Services environment. This may be caused by using a minimized terminal window - try playing back without minimizing the terminal window (it does not need to be full-screen). Running tscon.exe 0 /dest:console prior starting any RFT script fix the error on Windows XP. But not on Windows7. I did some research and was trying for hours to fix that but nothing helped. There is no screen saver turned on on Windows7. I tried to run both but nothing helped. tscon.exe 0 /dest:console tscon.exe 1 /dest:console On Windows7 tscon returns {ErrorPrintf(): LoadString failed, Error 15105, (0x00003B01)} Error [15105]:The resource loader cache doesn't have loaded MUI entry. Error [0]:The operation completed successfully. On Windows XP tscon returns Could not connect sessionID 0 to sessionname console, Error code 7045 Error [7045]:The requested session access is denied. I just double checked that running tscon.exe 0 /dest:console on Windows XP solves the issue. Cannot understand the output of the tscon command then. Any idea how I can run RFT scripts after I restart the Windows box automatically? Preferably without involving any other computer. I was even thinking to use the old Windows XP to make remote desktop session to make RFT happy. I hope there is other better solution to that.

  I was having a discussion on bookmarks in Word with a friend, and he suggested me to check out his implementation of a query in Word. Since I did not have Microsoft Word installed, I told him I don't have Word so I won't be able to test it. To this, he mentioned that he'll send the executables and it will work - I argued that without an installation this will fail. I was rather shocked when he sent me the standalone executables and on running them, Word actually launched and I was able to use almost every functionality o_0 How's this possible? I've never installed Microsoft Office on my system, this isn't any "portable" app or VMWare ThinStall ( thanks nhinkle, didn't know about this). There are absolutely no Microsoft Office related files - except for winword.exe and excel.exe. Curiously even Microsoft Excel works fine with just the standalone executable. winword.exe size is about 38 MB, and excel.exe size is just 35kb, which makes it even more strange.   I would like to set up an alias in my cygwin .bashrc that translates pathnames unix-to-dos and passes them to windows gvim in a new tab of an existing instance. I am trying to use Luc Hermitte's cyg-wrapper script for running native win32 applications from Cygwin as per this vim tip. Luc's example of how to use his script is: alias vi= 'cyg-wrapper.sh "C:/Progra~1/Edition/vim/vim63/gvim.exe" --binary-opt=-c,--cmd,-T,-t,--servername,--remote-send,--remote-expr' I do not understand this example because most of these vim parameters (-c,--cmd,--servername,--remote-send,--remote-expr, etc) require more information, and I have not found any example of how to supply the additional information to cyg-wrapper.sh. For example, calling C:/Progra~1/Edition/vim/vim63/gvim.exe --servername=GVIM --remote-tab-silent file1 & will open file1 in a new tab of existing (or non existing) instance GVIM, but calling gvim --servername accomplishes nothing on its own. Unfortunately, though, the corresponding cyg-wrapper phrase does not work: cyg-wrapper.sh "C:/Progra~1/Edition/vim/vim63/gvim.exe" --binary-opt=--servername=GVIM,--remote-tab-silent --fork=2 file1 If ran twice, this actually opens up two instances of gvim; it is as if the servername 'GVIM' is being stripped and ignored.   I am using VirtualBox 4.1.18 and had a virtual machine running Windows 8 RC with a single VHD, which was initially sized at 25GB (too small!). • Installer not being updated ( probably because of Windows 7 file cache )

  I'm creating an installer for my Visual FoxPro application using ISTool and Inno Setup. It is ok for me for the first time. But, I updated my code and re-built the EXE file. Then, compiled the installer again. I found that my update was not compiled into the installer and I did not see the update in my running application. I noticed that the EXE file, which was built by VFP, was updated properly. It seems the installation script did not output the updated file. But, when I changed folder names, it did work. I don't want to change folder names whenever I run that installation script. It is not a good idea actually. I think it is because of Windows 7 cache system. Mine is Windows 7 Home Premium Service Pack 1. For example, My previous output file is located at C:\path\to\myinstaller.exe When I compile the installation script, the output file there should be overwritten, but it was not as expected. Although I deleted the file, it did not work. When I changed to output file path as C:\newpath\to\myinstaller.exe, I got the fix, but it is not a solution what I'm looking for. Does anyone how to do that? [Edit] I found that the installed directory was not updated properly.   Hi ! There has been a power loss on our server and i cannot start the SQL service because the master DB is corrupted (as the log states). I found many articles recommending running the setup.exe with optional parameters: This is what I did: I've downloaded SQLEXPR32.EXE from MS page and ran it The first problem was, that it extracted all the setup files and started the default installation procedure. (which was unuseful for me as I need those params). If I canceled it, all the extracted files disappeared. That's why I decided to copy the extracted files somewhere and than cancel the default installation. Now I'm trying to run the setup.exe from the extraction: setup.exe /qb INSTANCENAME=MSSQLSERVER REINSTALL=SQL_Engine REBUILDDATABASE=1 SAPWD=xxxxx it asks me if I want to rewrite the system db, which is what I need, but then while installing I get this error: *An installation package for the product Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express Edition cannot be found. Try the installation again using a valid copy of the installation package 'SqlRun_SQL.msi'* Then it tries to install something and it states: cannot install because the same instance name already exists. But I don't want to install a new instance .. Any idea how to solve this, please? Thank you in advance !
