  • Twitter widget stops page from rendering in IE 8, anybody know why?

    The widget works fine in Firefox but it completely stops the page from being rendered in IE8.     I want to add an overlay view for my video when the video is paused by the user. Is there any way to get the pause notification from MPMoviePlayerController? According to Apple Doc, there should be ways to do this but I can't find which notification should I use for this purpose.     I couldn't find a duplicate for this question for Java, although there are a lot of them for C#. I have this method: public <T> T getSomething() { // } According to the type of T, I will have a different return. For example: String a = getSomething(); int b = getSomething(); For a, my method will return a specific String. For b, it will return a specific int. And so on. It seems that this can be done with typeof() in C#. How can I achieve it in Java?

  • how do I get the program to Know which annotation is selected and be able to access properties of it

    So far my program can display a database of custom annotation views. Eventually I want my program to be able to display extra information after a button on the annotation bubble is clicked. Each element in the database has a unique entry Number, so I thought it would be a good idea to add this entry number as a property of the custom annotation. The problem I am having is that after the button is clicked and the program switches to a new view I am unable to retrieve the entry number of the annotation I selected.   • can bind successfully to the ldap server, but needs to know how to find user w/i AD

    I create a login form to bind to the ldap server, if successful, it creates a session (which the user's username is stored within), then I go to another page that has session_start(); and it works fine. What I want to do now, is add code to test if that user is a member of a specific group. So in theory, this is what I want to do if(username session is valid) { search ldap for user -> get list of groups user is member of foreach(group they are member of) { switch(group) { case STAFF: print 'they are member of staff group'; $access = true; break; default: print 'not a member of STAFF group'; $access = false; break; } if(group == STAFF) { break; } } if($access == TRUE) { // you have access to the content on this page } else { // you do not have access to this page } } How do I do a ldap_search w/o binding? I don't want to keep asking for their password on each page, and I can't pass their password thru a session. Any help is appreciated.

  • Can you modify SQL DB schema in a transaction to know if all changes were applied?

    As part of my (new) database version control methodology, I'm writing a "change script" and want the change script to insert a new row into the SchemaChangeLog table if the script is executed successfully, or to reverse changes if any single change in the script fails. Is it possible to do schema changes in a transaction and only if it gets committed to then do the INSERT?   • Should I learn Haskell or F# if I already know OCaml?

    I am wondering if I should continue to learn OCaml or switch to F# or Haskell. Here are the criteria I am most interested in: Longevity Which language will last longer? I don't want to learn something that might be abandoned in a couple years by users and developers. Will Inria, Microsoft, University of Glasgow continue to support their respective compilers for the long run? Practicality Articles like this make me afraid to use Haskell. A hash table is the best structure for fast retrieval. Haskell proponents in there suggest using Data.Map which is a binary tree. I don't like being tied to a bulky .NET framework unless the benefits are large. I want to be able to develop more than just parsers and math programs. Well Designed I like my languages to be consistent. Please support your opinion with logical arguments and citations from articles. Thank you.

In my main view i have 3 buttons, each button will load a different nib. and each new nib is having one back button to come back to main view. when i click one the back button of any view to move to the main view the dealloc of that view is not getting called? i didnt understood this. can anyone explain when those views dealloc will be called?

    I have this code, I open a stream (without closing or disposing it), then I copy the file used by the stream, I thought I should get a "Process can't access file somefile.xml because it's being used by another process" exception, but I don't. Any idea why? Thanks!   • Do you know of a C dictionary that supports COW transactions?

    I'm looking for a key - value dictionary library written in C that supports a theoretically unlimited number of cheap transactions. I'd like to have one dictionary in memory, with hundreds of threads starting transactions, possibly modifying the dictionary, ending (completing) the transaction or potentially aborting the transaction. Only 50% of the time will these threads actually modify the dictionary. Most dictionary transaction implementations that I've seen copy always, instead of copying on write, whenever a transaction is started. Given the expected size ( 1GB) of the dictionary, I'm hoping to find something that COWs only when something is actually changed during a transaction. I'm also hoping for something that is packaged by most major GNU/Linux distributions. Any suggestions or links are very much appreciated.
