  • Basic CHMOD restriction

    i have an uploads folder on my website. What i want to do is restrict users from accessing like i dont want them to go to www.mysite.com/uploads/ and see the files in there and it should show forbidden, but they should be able to download via my website, for example www.mysite.com/downloads.php?id=1 If thats not possible, how can i atleast not show them the directory index on /uploads How is it that file sharing websites does this? An htaccess with deny from all stops php from accessing the file as well Please tell me a solution if you would know, i googled and asked on irc a few days ago about this issue, its pretty confusing to me.

    Here is what sp_helpfile says about my current database (recovery model is Simple) in SQL2000: name fileid filename size maxsize growth usage MasterScratchPad_Data 1 C:\SQLDATA\MasterScratchPad_Data.MDF 6041600 KB Unlimited 5120000 KB data only MasterScratchPad_Log 2 C:\SQLDATA\MasterScratchPad_Log.LDF 2111304 KB Unlimited 10% log only MasterScratchPad_X1_Log 3 E:\SQLDATA\MasterScratchPad_X1_Log.LDF 191944 KB Unlimited 10% log only I'm trying to prepare this for a detach then an attach to a sql2008 instance but I don't want to have the 2nd .LDF file (I'd like to have just one file for the log). I have backed up the database. I have issued: BACKUP LOG MasterScratchPad WITH TRUNCATE_ONLY. I have run multiple DBCC SHRINKFILE commands on both of the LOG files. How can I accomplish this goal of having just one .LDF? I cannot find anything on how to delete the one with fileid of 3 and/or how to consolidate multiple files into one log file.

    I'm using sysklogd 1.5.5. All I want is to get local0 entries in /var/log/vr file. My conf: *.*;local0.none /var/log/messages local0.* /var/log/vr When I do logger -p local0.info "local0 test from logger" the message appear in /var/log/vr file. That's ok.   • How to convert my backup.cmd into something I can run in Linux?

    Back in the day when i was using windows(and a noob at everything IT) i liked batch scripting so much that i wrote a lot of them and one i am pretty proud of that is my backup.cmd(see below). I am pretty basic with the linux bash sudo/apt-get/sl/ls/locate/updatedb/etc... I don't really know the full power of the terminal.   • How to boot Windows XP using the image file(not the extracted image file)

    Is it possible to boot from an iso image file itself. Because when you burn it, it gets extracted. Because in linux you can just place the .iso file in a removable media and boot from it without extracting. Is it possible to make something like that in windows? What I'm saying is related to this: http://wintoflash.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=312 Something like creating a flash drive which has the ability to install multiple os. They have something like this in pendrivelinux but I can't find it anymore. But that boot manager can only install linux. And other live cd's used in cleaning the system. That's why I'm asking if its possible to make a custom windows xp or windows 7 installer so that the image file alone can boot.

  • "No such file or directory" when the file is there

    I'm trying to run XPDF on a linux (probably red hat) OVH shared server. I've managed to have ftp ssh access and put the 64 bits binaries onto a folder. The problem is : even though the files are there with the right permissions, if I try running it I'm getting a file not found problem (I'm thinking about a missing link..)   • What would prevent a .BAT file from being run on a mapped drive?

    In WinXP SP3, I have a .BAT file on a mapped drive. When I try to run this .BAT file (or even right click-edit) it gives me: --------------------------- Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item. --------------------------- OK --------------------------- This happens with any .BAT file, no matter what is within the file. If the file is on my local computer (like C:) it will run just fine. If someone else runs it from another computer (on the same mapped drive), it runs just fine. I have full permissions on the drive; I can edit/delete/save/write/create in that folder and/or .BAT file and I've ruled out permissions being the issue. It seems like a security prevention, but I can't tell what it would be. It would have to be something on my PC, but I don't use any 3rd party software. What would cause this error?

  • Problem transferring file to FTP server - 503 Could not create file

    I try to transfer a file from SSIS package to a FTP server provided by my client. When I try connecting and transfer using a FTP tool (WinSCP) manually it works fine and file was transferred. But when i use the ftp command in command prompt and try to transfer using "send" command i get an error "553 could not create file". This also happens from SSIS package. I'm not in control of the FTP server but if anyone can provide a solution I can pass it to the admin or anything to be done from my end?

  • Why isn't pyinstaller making me an .exe file?

    I am attempting to follow this guide to make a simple Hello World script into an .exe file. I have Windows Vista with an AMD 64-bit processor I have installed Python 2.6.5 (Windows AMD64 version) I have set the PATH (if that's the right word) so that the command line recognizes Python I have installed UPX (there only seems to be a 32-bit version for Windows) and pasted a copy of upx.exe into the Python26 folder as instructed. I have installed Pywin (Windows AMD 64 Python 2.6 version) I have run Pyinstaller's Configure.py. It gives some error messages but seems to complete.     Dear Stack Exchange, Hi, I have built a form input page in HTML that has an action to post to an ASP handler/processor .asp file. The form handler/processor .asp file contains only <% Insert VBScript Here % and no HTML output whatsoever. The .asp file was never intended to be a "web viewable" .asp file like an .asp home page file or html file would. It's supposed to be for my eyes only- not the public's however it does need to take info posted by the public and do something with it on it's end. I have used VBScript/ASP3.0 to build the form handler/processor file and would like to know how to keep someone from viewing the actual VBScript in the handler/processor .asp file. I am aware of obfuscation but I would like to know how to keep prying eyes from even being able to take a look at the obfuscated code in the handler/processor file. I realize that the server executes the .asp file first before outputting anything to the browser so I guess that my main concern is mostly that someone may could "download" the form handler/processor .asp file, then view it's contents on their machine. Assuming the form handler .asp file is where it is, behind the root, and is on a windows server (no htaccess approach) how could one protect it so that it could never be viewed or simply pulled down via anonymous ftp or something like that? Is there something like "script only" permissions that the system administrator could set up for a particular folder? Remember, with shared hosting I can't go above the root. If so, would the form still be able to post? How would any of you guys go about protecting the asp file in addition to obfuscation? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, ASP Pee-Wee

  • Make Apache encode or replace quotes instead of escaping them?

    In the dcoumentation I read Format Notes For security reasons, starting with version 2.0.46, non-printable and other special characters in %r, %i and %o are escaped using \xhh sequences, where hh stands for the hexadecimal representation of the raw byte. Exceptions from this rule are " and \, which are escaped by prepending a backslash, and all whitespace characters, which are written in their C-style notation (\n, \t, etc). In versions prior to 2.0.46, no escaping was performed on these strings so you had to be quite careful when dealing with raw log files. This is a problem for Analog which is still the handiest analyser I use. I get .... "GET /somerequest?q=\"quoted string\"&someparm=bla" in the logfile and it is of course flagged as corrupt since Analog expects .... "GET /somerequest?q=%22quoted string%22&someparm=bla" or similar. I realise I can pre-process using something like perl -p -i.bak -e 's/\\"/%22/g' logfile But I'd rather not have to add this step to these files which are 50-90MB zipped per day Thanks for any pointers

    Im creating an iPhone game with Adobe AIR, and I want to be able to load a simple text msg into an dynamic text box on the games front screen from my server (and then be able to update that text file on the server, so it updates automatically in the game after the game is on the app store) How would I go about acheiving that? is it as simple as using a getURL? are there any specifical issues with trying to do this on the iPhone via AIR that I should be aware of?
