  • Windows Share permissions

    I have a SQL/File server that I am replicating a File Share and SQL instance, using ArcServer RHA, to a Replica server. Everything seems to work as far as the replication of the SLQ instance and Share is concerned. When I fail over to the Replica server the DNS Host A record is modified to point to the Replica Server IP Address so if I do an NSLOOKUP on ServerA it then points to the IP Address of ServerB. Ans since the SQL instance is named the same I can still map my ODBC connections to ServerA and I can still make a SQL connection. When I try to do a \ServerA\Share I get an error that says I do not have permissions to the Share. I think this is because it uses keberose authentication and the Share is tied to the actual sever host name. I have tried puting in a CNAME and pointing it to ServerA and Disabling Strict Name Checking on ServerB as well as adding the CNAME to the OptionalNames in the registry but I am still getting the error when I have the ServerA powered off. Is there a way to reset the Authentication of the Share to use the DNS Cname?

  • Basics about file/folder permissions on Win 7

    Hi. Under Win XP I never touched the permissions of a file/folder. I was happy with the way it worked. But recently I installed Windows 7 on a drive that previously hosted Windows XP. Now, some programs do not have 'read' and/or 'write' access to their own folders - and I am not talking about system folders like 'Program Files' but normal folders like 'C:\my data\my own folder\program folder'. I see that for folders created under Win XP I have some user groups that do not exist for 'normal' folders (folders created by me recently under Windows 7). For example, for the Win XP folder I have: Creator owner System Account unknown(S-1-5-21 blablabla... Admins Users For Win7 folders I have: Authenticated users System Admins Users How should I proceed? Should I give the right to the "Users" account to write to XP folders? Should I make the old folders (the XP folders) to have the same groups of users as the normal (Win7) ones by adding the "Authenticated users" account to those folders? Should I delete the "Account unknown" account from my system? (In this case, how?) Many thanks.

  • Task Scheduler permissions error for some jobs

    I have recently moved to a 64-bit Windows Server 2008 R2. I setup my Scheduled Tasks to run under one user (TaskUser) specifically created for the scheduler and most run just fine. However some of them do not run under TaskUser but will for my own credentials. Here is the Event Log entry I found, which from my research points me to believe that it doesn't have permissions, but it does. It also has the option "Run with highest privileges" checked on. I have seen this particular checkbox work wonders on some tasks, but I have a number of them that it's not helping for.   • Creating Read-only logs with python

    I am writing a python script that needs to make a log entry whenever it's invoked. The log created by the script must not be changeable by the user (except root) who invoked the script. I tried the syslog module and while this does exactly what I want in terms of file permissions, I need to be able to put the resulting log file in an arbitrary location. How would I go about doing this?

  • #1130 - Host ‘localhost’ is not allowed to connect to this MySQL server

    I accidently changed the "host" value for the root user inside of the user table for mysql. I need to change it back to localhost because I changed it to arancillary2125 (my other machines DNS name) but I cannot access mysql (from PHPMYADMIN or command prompt) due to "localhost" not having permissions anymore.   • PHP session permission problem

    Hi I'm trying to initialize a session but i get this error: Warning: session_start() [function.session-start]: open(/tmp/sess_7af3ee9ec1350680bedcf63833d160bd, O_RDWR) failed: Permission denied (13) The session.path is set to /tmp with 777 perms. I try to edit the session.path to "0;777;/tmp" but the session files are created with the wrong permissions(only write). I'm using PHP 5.2 on apache2 and ubuntu 9.10. Any ideas?

  • ASP.NET 2.0 files work in one folder, but NOT in another

    I am about to leap of a building. I have created an app for a client and all the files are in a folder on their D drive. Now it is time to go production, so I copied all my files and folders to their excisting classic asp folder on the same drive. BUT NOTHING WORKS. The only difference I can see is that DEV does not require HTTPS like the production site. I also made sure all the permissions are the same on both folder. I made sure that the GAC has read rights using the aspnet_regiis tool. I am at the end of my debug knowlegde, could someone please help me out. The script is meant to clean up permissions that were needed during the execution of the application. find /opt/path -exec setacl -d user:myUser{} ';' After this executes and the acl is removed I am left with an acl that looks as follows user:101:--- /opt/path How can I properly call setacl to remove the user without leaving behind a uid?

    I have built an application which uses user executable through WScript com object. Now the main program is located in C:\Program files\Myapp Curl executable is located in C:\Curl But it looks like my application is unable to execute curl if main application is in Program files. If i move it to another location it can execute curl nicely. Problem occurs only on Windows Xp on Vista and Win7 it works perfectly. Is there any special permissions i have to give to my app or what?

    Hi, I'm using Wix to create an installer for a Silverlight application. When I install the application the virtual directory that has been created has the execute permission checked for the *.dll handler mapping (IIS 7 Web site VDir Handler Mappings *.dll Edit Feature Permissions Execute). When I browse to the application it cannot download its satellite assemblies in ClientBin. If I uncheck the execute permission in IIS the handler becomes disabled and the application now works. I don't want to have to do this manually. Does anybody know how to modify the handler mapping permissions in Wix or a Custom Action? Thanks
