• Prevent event from parent element to child element in jquery

  I have binded event as below: $(document).delegate('.budget', 'click', function(e){ if ($(this).hasClass('collapsed')) { $(this).removeClass('collapsed'); $(this).addClass('expanded'); } else if ($(this).hasClass('expanded')) { $(this).removeClass('expanded'); $(this).addClass('collapsed'); } }); Basically this toggles between expand and collapse. I have another event binded as below: $('[id^="tree"]').delegate('.collapsed', 'click', function(e){ var elementId = $(this).attr('id'); hideChildElement(elementId); }); The elements binded by the second event binding are parents of elements binded by first event binding. What happens is that on clicking on the element from the first binding event method also triggers the event binded by second event binding. I want to prevent any events from binding from second event binding to 1st event binding method. If element A is binded to click event from first event binding and B is binded to second event binding (A is inside B or A is child of B), I dont want any event of B to propagate to A. Note I tried e.stopImmediatePropagation(); but did not worked

• How costly performance-wise are these actions in iPhone objective-C?

  This is really a few questions in one, I'm wondering what the performance cost is for these things, as I haven't really been following a best practice of any sort for these. The answers may also be useful to other readers, if somebody knows these. (1) If I need the core data managed object context, is it bad to use #import "myAppDelegate.h" //farther down in the code: NSManagedObjectContext *context = [(myAppDelegate.h*)[[UIApplication sharedApplication] delegate] managedObjectContext]; as opposed to leaving the warning you get if you don't cast the delegate? (2) What is the cheapest way to hard-code a string? I have been using return @"myString"; on occasion in some functions where I need to pass it to a variety of places, is it better to do it this way: static NSString *str = @"myString"; return str; (3) How costly is it to subclass an object i wrote vs. making a new one, in general? (4) When I am using core data and navigating through a hierarchy of some sort, is it necessary to turn things back into faults somehow after I read some info from them? or is this done automatically?   In C# I am trying to write code where I would be creating a Func delegate which is in itself generic. For example the following (non-Generic) delegate is returning an arbitrary string: Func<string> getString = () => "Hello!"; I on the other hand want to create a generic which acts similarly to generic methods. For example if I want a generic Func to return default(T) for a type T. I would imagine that I write code as follows: Func<T><T> getDefaultObject = <T>() => default(T); Then I would use it as getDefaultObject<string>() which would return null and if I were to write getDefaultObject<int>() would return 0. This question is not merely an academic excercise. I have found numerous places where I could have used this but I cannot get the syntax right. Is this possible? Are there any libraries which provide this sort of functionality?

• Utility App with Navigation Controller and Table View on FlipSide.

  Hi All. I am relatively new to the whole MVC way of looking at things. I have an application that is based on the "Utility" Application template. Everything in the MainView and FlipsideView is working great but now I need to add a TableView and Navigation Controller to the flipside. Without the navigation bar being on the MainView. So only once the user has tapped the info light button will the nav bar display on the flipside with a table view. I have been able to impliment the Table View on the side and populate it with data from an array. I am now struggling to link in a navigation controller so that the tableview can become interactive. When I place the nav bar code into the app delegate it appears on the MainView and not the flipside view. Where do I place the navigation bar code so that it will display on the flipsideview. I cannt seem to get the code in the right place. Also I am not sure I have the right code, do I put the UINavigationController code in the FlipSideViewController.m ? I am not grasping the concept of the naivgation controller fully I think . . . • Nested modal view controller gives strange message under iOS6?

  I am presenting a modal view controller from another modal view controller, and this worked fine under all iOS versions prior to iOS6. But under iOS6 I am getting the following warning message in the emulator: Warning: Attempt to present <UINavigationController: 0x14e93680> on <UINavigationController: 0x9fc6b70> while a presentation is in progress! The modal view controller is not shown if this warning appears. • One Common View In Every ViewController

  I am having a hard time wording this when searching the internet so I am just going to ask the question. I have an options view in my app that slides into view when the user clicks a button. This options view will display app information like settings. I want this options view to be displayed on every view controller in my app. I do not want to copy and paste the code for the options view into every viewcontroller file. The options view has quite a few outlets and actions and also calls many delegates. How can I reuse this options view in all my view controllers without adding all the outlets, actions, and delegate methods each time? I was going to make a new file with public methods, but I would still have to copy the outlets. Would this public methods file have to include delegate methods as well then? Let me know if my question does not make sense. I am hoping there is a standard way of implementing something like this.

  SELECT x FROM SomeClass WHERE x.dateAtt BETWEEN CURRENT_DATE AND (CURRENT_DATE + 1 MONTH) In the above JPQL statement, SomeClass has a memebr dateAttr, which is a java.util.Date and has a @Temporal(javax.persistence.TemporalType.DATE) annotation. I need a way to do the (CURRENT_DATE + 1 MONTH) bit - it is obviously wrong in its current state - but cannot find the doc with the date function for JPQL. Can anyone point me in the direction of a doc that documents JPQL date functions (and also how to do this particular query)?

• iphone Dev - activity indicator with NSThread not working on Nav controller table view

  I really can't get this to work, basically when my JSON feeds loads I want the indicator to show, then hide when it's stopped. It loads top level menu items 1st "Publishing, Broadcasting, Marketing Services", then when Broadcasting is selected it loads a feed using the JSON framework hosted on Google. Round this load I call startIndicator and stopIndicator using the NSThread.   Fields in a DB were of type DATETIME (mysql). Why was it generated as a timestamp and will it be regenerated during object persistence? That is not a desired scenario in my case, seeing that as not a timestamp field means that it should only be set via setter, no generation needed, I dont really understand why it did not generate it as Date type!

I installed Imagemagick to my c:\ directory. What does this mean, and how can I fix it?

Specifically, another java application adds or removes records from the database, but the web application never sees these updates. This is quite a serious issue. I must be missing something basic. • Cannot run 'display' after ImageMagick install on Ubuntu

  I'm trying to install ImageMagick to my Ubuntu box. I've run the following command: sudo aptitude install imagemagick Now whenever I try to run 'display' from the command line, I get an error saying display: delegate library support not built-in `' (X11) @ display.c/DisplayImageCommand/1888. I can certainly include more details if asked, but at the moment I'm not sure what else to include. I'm running Ubuntu 9.10.
