  • Handle mysql restart in SQLAlchemy

    My Pylons app uses local MySQL server via SQLAlchemy and python-MySQLdb. When the server is restarted, open pooled connections are apparently closed, but the application doesn't know about this and apparently when it tries to use such connection it receives "MySQL server has gone away": File '/usr/lib/pymodules/python2.6/sqlalchemy/engine/default.py', line 277 in do_execute cursor.execute(statement, parameters) File '/usr/lib/pymodules/python2.6/MySQLdb/cursors.py', line 166 in execute self.errorhandler(self, exc, value) File '/usr/lib/pymodules/python2.6/MySQLdb/connections.py', line 35 in defaulterrorhandler raise errorclass, errorvalue OperationalError: (OperationalError) (2006, 'MySQL server has gone away') This exception is not caught anywhere so it bubbles up to the user. If I should handle this exception somewhere in my code, please show the place for such code in a Pylons WSGI app. Or maybe there is a solution in SA itself?

  • Restart of Master Postgres DB with unconsumed Wal files

    We have a situation where walmanager is being used to ship wal files between a master and a slave Postgres database. The slave machine has failed and has had to have been rebuilt. This has caused a lot of unconsumed wal files to build up on the master. If a reboot is issued to the Postgres master, and there are 24 hours worth of unconsumed wal files hanging around, will the master be effected at all or will it start clean?

  • Restart list numbering in word for each new list created

    Hi, I am exporting content from a jsp page into MS Word using javascript. When the user is in Word there is a table with 10 rows and 2 columns, A & B. The user creates an ordered list in row 1, column A like this: 1 dog 2 cat 3 mouse if the user then creates a second list in row 1 column B is turns out like this: 4 car 5 truck 6 bike instead of: 1 car 2 truck 3 bike Word is set up to continue the numbering in lists from prior lists automatically. I know this can be reset easily but the users dont want to have to do this. They want the numbering of any potential lists created to restarted at 1. when the document is exported into Word and opened in front of them. So this must be set up in the javasctipt code or using a style or something prior to getting into Word. This is what I dont know how to do. Any help is much appreciated. Thanks, Feena.

    It is a RMI Server object , so many sethumanActivity() might be run , how do i make sure the previous changeToFalse thread will be stop or halt before the new changeToFalse run? t. interrupt ?   • PyDev and Django: how to restart dev server?

    I'm new to Django. I think I'm making a simple mistake. I launched the dev server with Pydev: RClick on project Django Custom command runserver The server came up, and everything was great. But now I'm trying to stop it, and can't figure out how. I stopped the process in the PyDev console, and closed Eclipse, but web pages are still being served from http://127.0.0.1:8000. I launched and quit the server from the command line normally: python manage.py runserver But the server is still up. What am I doing wrong here?

    Environment: Solaris 10 This mysql server has been up and running for 6 months now. Today all of a sudden it crashed. When typing 'mysql' as user it gives the error MYSQL" Error 2002 (HY000): Can't Connect to Local MySQL server though socket '/tmp/mysql.sock' The server try to open mysql, it stays open for 9-10 seconds and restarts the process.   • JSF - Session Bean restart on logout and login

    Hi, I have a web application with a backing bean which has the context of the current logged in user. It is implemented on JSF. When the user logs out he is forwarded to a login screen (in another JSP page). I would like the current session to be erased when that happens and a new one to be created the next time the user logs in and enters the application. My question is - how do you delete a session? (I guess the new session will be created automatically the next time the user enters the link) This is kinda newb i guess, but I couldn't find a solution for this. Thanks for the Help!

  • How to start/stop/restart jQuery animation

    I have the following function that when I call displays a message to the user for a certain amount of time (5 secs in my case). During this "period" if I call the function again to display another message, practically it should hide, then re-appear with the new message for another 5 seconds. What happens with my code below, I call the function to display the message. Then, lets say on the 4th second, I call it again to display another message, the new message is displayed for 1 second. I need to somehow -reset- the time but can't figure out how. Tried stopping the animation, checking if the element was visible and hiding it if it was, and many other things. I believe the solution is a simple chaining issue but can't get it right.   • Python Terminated Thread Cannot Restart

    Hello, I have a thread that gets executed when some action occurs. Given the logic of the program, the thread cannot possibly be started while another instance of it is still running. Yet when I call it a second time, I get a "RuntimeError: thread already started" error. I added a check to see if it is actually alive using the Thread.is_alive() function, and it is actually dead. What am I doing wrong? I can provide more details as are needed.

Here's what I want to do and you can see my first attempt at the link above: User submits form Stop default submit action check to see if a similar entry exists in database If it does, display a notice asking them if they want to submit anyway and give an option to let them submit anyway (enable default action and submit it).     Hello everybody, I get this error every time I open IE8 in Win7, and a popup appear which says: this tab has been recovered and it close open the tab that I can't even surf a page (any page) with IE8, and after a while it crashes and close the program with no such an obvious error, I tried these methods to solve the problem but it doesn't work: 1.Reset Internet Explorer settings 2.Run IE without Add-ons 3.Scanned system for viruses with Eset Smart sercurity 4, there was no viruses.   • Windows 7: Menu 'New->Text document' is missing, when not admin user

    Hi, when I'm logged in as a user that is not member of the administrator group the entry to create a new textfile is missing from the right click "New" menu. If I give the user admin rights or start the explorer with admin rights the "New - text document" menu entry magically appears. As far as I can see the registry entries are correct. Anybody got a solution for that side effect of beeing a normal user in windows?? Regards

    Hi I would like to know whether it is possible to remove the entry for desktop from Windows 7's alt-tab list? So far I have found a post telling me to add an entry to the registry: HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/Microsoft/Windows/CurrentVersion/Explorer/AltTabSettings However, this reverts the alt-tab menu back to the Windows XP style, where you don't get window previews. All I really want is for the desktop entry to be gone. Cheers.

  • What are some fast methods for navigating to frequently used folders in Windows 7?

    (This is a followup question from my previous question.) In windows XP I used to be able to quickly navigate to frequently used folders by making use of the 'Favorites' menu item and the hotkey behaviour. In certain conditions it could be set up so that getting to a particular folder was as easy as alt-a x (and without a file explorer window open it was as fast as win-e alt-a x). I am struggling to get anywhere near this speed in Windows 7 and would like to solicit advice from others regarding fast folder navigation to see if I am missing any methods. My current way to navigate quickly is basically move hand to mouse move cursor to navigation pane/pain. scroll all the way to the top (because normally I the panel is focused on whatever deep directory structure I am already in). sift through my 50+ favorites to get the one I want, or click a link to a folder that contains further links in some sort of 'pseudo-tree' functionality. select it. This is slower than my previous method by upwards of an order of magnitude. There are a couple of things I've contemplated: add expandable folders, not just direct links, to the favorites menu. add expandable folders, not just direct links, to the start menu. add links of my favorite folders to a submenu of the start menu so that they come up when I search them. They do but this still rather cumbersome started using 7stacks - url here (I cannot link the url directly due to lack of reputation but http://www.alastria.com/index.php?p=software-7s). This is about the closest I've gotten to some sort of compact, customizeable, easy to access, tree based navigation structure. How do you power users quickly navigate to your favorite folders? Are there keyboard shortcuts I am missing? Can someone recommend other apps or addon or extensions that can achieve this sort of functionality? The Current solution (thanks to the answers below) I am going to use is a combination of Autohotkey and 7stacks - autohotkey to launch 7stacks, 7stacks with the 'menu' stack type for fast, key-enabled navigation to folders organised in a tree structure. This solves about 90% of the issue, the only issues are (note that these are really minor, I am really splitting hairs more than anything here) Can't use this for existing folder navigation (ie already have a explorer window open, want to go to another directory) A bit more cumbersome to add/remove entries to compared to xp favorites. A little slower than xp favorites. Whatever. I'm happy. Thanks guys.
