  • php frameworks - build your own vs pre-made

    Hi, I am building an application currently in PHP and I am trying to decide on whether to use a pre-existing framework like codeigniter or build my own framework. The application needs to be really scalable and I want to be completely in control of it which makes me think I should build my own but at the same time I dont want to reinvent the wheel if I dont have to.   • Pages '09 reverts to a specific printer after choosing "Any Printer"

    When I select Any Printer in the Format For: drop down box for a Pages '09 document, the next time I reopen the document it reverts to formatting for the specific printer that was originally selected. Why isn't the Format For: selection persistent? I know for certain that this problem exists on documents that I originally created in an earlier version of Pages. I have not yet confirmed if it also happens in documents originally created in Pages '09.

    By command line inetcpl.cpl triggers internet options window. Are there any advance options of inetcpl.cpl available from command line? Tab selection, i.e Content tab. Launch new window from internet option, i.e Certificate windows. Would appreciate if anyone could tell me if it's feasible or show me the right direction. Info: I would like to run a .bat file to open Internet Options' Certificate Window.

Write a sequential script that deletes via paginating through the rows 1000 at a time?

    CCK for Drupal has the handy feature of allowing a single CCK field to accept multiple values via a "add another item" button that results in an array of data in the node. I'm wondering if there's any easy way of adapting this for a non-CCK form that I'd be calling by drupal_get_form. I'd rather not have to re-invent the wheel with multi-step form techniques. Anyone done this?

    Hi there I remember in Tiger, you could always select a bunch of files in Finder and right click them, there was an option to open the selection in Automator. However, it seems that option has been lost somewhere between the Leopard and Snow Leopard upgrade. Or am I a bit blind? Can someone please point me in the right direction?

  • OS X 10.6 won't automatically connect to wireless even though remember network is checked

    Upgraded to 10.6 recently. 10.5 would connect to my home network whenever I was home. 10.6 constantly pops up the network selection dialog and asks me what network I want to join. I click my home network and the password is already entered (so it "remembers" the network). "Remember network" is checked... but it does it every time. How do I get 10.6 to connect to networks automatically whenever it sees them?

(Not to say I don't have any other copy of the document) While formatting (as a try) I applied the style "Apply Style to Body to match selection".   • JavaScript Image zoom with CSS3 Transforms, How to calculate Origin? (with example)

    I'm trying to implement an image zoom effect, a bit like how the zoom works with Google Maps, but with a grid of fix position images. I've uploaded an example of what I have so far here: http://www.dominicpettifer.co.uk/Files/MosaicZoom.html (uses CSS3 transforms so only works with Firefox, Opera, Chrome or Safari) Use your mouse wheel to zoom in/out. The HTML source is basically an outer div with an inner-div, and that inner-div contains 16 images arranged using absolute position. It's going to be a Photo Mosaic basically. I've got the zoom bit working using CSS3 transforms: $(this).find('div').css('-moz-transform', 'scale(' + scale + ')'); ...however, I'm relying on the mouse X/Y position on the outer div to zoom in on where the mouse cursor is, similar to how Google Maps functions. The problem is that if you zoom right in on an image, move the cursor to the bottom/left corner and zoom again, instead of zooming to the bottom/left corner of the image, it zooms to the bottom/left of the entire mosaic. This has the effect of appearing to jump about the mosaic as you zoom in closer while moving the mouse around, even slightly. That's basically the problem, I want the zoom to work exactly like Google Maps where it zooms exactly to where your mouse cursor position is, but I can't get my head around the Maths to calculate the transform-origin: X/Y values correctly. Please help, been stuck on this for 3 days now.   • Is this a false positive by Avast?

    Avast keeps detecting the rootkit Win32:Evo-gen. I select to delete it, but when I restart the computer the message pops up again. The location is C:\Program Files(x86)\ASUS\AsusFanControlService\1.00.17\AsusFanControlService.exe this somewhat makes sense because I do have an Asus motherboard. Should I choose "ignore" and remember the selection or is it likely I do have a virus that is resisting deletion?

  • Can't set up printing from Mac OS X (10.5.7) to an HP PSC 2410 shared from PC running Ubuntu 9.10

    I've got an HP PSC 2410 printer shared from a fresh Ubuntu 9.10 installation. I'm able to send documents to this printer over the network from another Ubuntu machine. But so far, I haven't been able to find a setup where I can send documents to that printer from a MacBook running 10.5.7. On the Mac side, when setting things up, I go into System Prefs Print & Fax, click on the "+" mark, select "IP", pick "IPP", enter the IP address of the Ubuntu box, leave the queue blank, enter the Name and location, and I think it's when I get to the "Print Using" (driver selection) part that I'm running into issues. If I use "Auto Select", it defaults to "Generic PostScript Printer", which I doubt the PSC 2410 is (and sure enough, if I print, the jobs don't go through). If I try "Select a driver to use...", there's not an option for an HP PSC 2400. This seems a little odd: I can plug the printer directly into one of our Macs and it immediately figures out the driver and I can print no problem, but that's apparently the way things work. So, that leaves one option: "Other", which, when selected, brings up a dialog apparently for the purpose of manually locating a driver. I've tried visiting HP's web site. They have drivers for earlier versions of Mac OS X, but state that after 10.4, Mac OS X should just come with the relevant drivers. I've also tried setting things up by interacting with the CUPS server on the Mac through a browser: I go to http://localhost:631/, select "Add New Printer", pick "Internet Printing Protocol (http)" for the Device selection, enter "http://ubuntu.machine.ip.address:631/printers/hp-psc-2400-series" for the Device URI, select "HP" for Make, and then on the next screen, we're back to the problem where the PSC 2400 just doesn't show up. There's an option to "provide a PPD file", which I assume would be the printer driver I can't find. A Google search for "HP PSC 2410 ppd Leopard" doesn't seem to yield much other than a reminder that the printer is supposed to just work out of the box on Leopard. A local search for ".ppd" or "2410" on either Mac also doesn't yield anything that looks like a relevant print driver. I'm totally stuck at this point. Any advice?

  • How can I disable the IR/Remote Control on an HP Laptop?

    I've seen this happen on 2 different HP laptops now. If I try to use them in the same room as a Media Center, the MCE TV remote keeps sending commands to the laptop. This can do anything from wake it up and turn it on to just moving the selection around. There is no obvious way to disable the IR sensor or at least its response to the remote. Does anyone know how to do this?

  • Scrolling inside Vim in Mac's Terminal

    I've been googling around trying to figure out if it's possible to use my mouse wheel to scroll while inside Vim in Mac's Terminal, with no luck. It seems as if only X11 or iTerm support this. Before I give up, I thought I'd try the geniuses here to see if anyone knows a way to do this. So, does anyone know if I can set that up? It seems to pick one of the objects, but I'm not sure how it decides which one to pick and how to change it. Order of selection and front/back ordering seems to have no effect. Anyone have any ideas?
