  • Hiding Terrain in Google Maps

    - by Old Man
    I'm generating a KML file to show a map with placemarks in Google Earth. For this purpose the terrain (topographical detail) doesn't help; I just want solid color like you would see if you selected "Map" in Google Maps. What is the KML to do this? I can't find anything in the KML documentation.

  • Clojure: I have many sorted maps and want to reduce in order all there values a super maps of keys -> vector

    - by Alex Foreman
    I have seen this but can't work out how to apply it (no pun intended) to my situation. I have a sorted list of maps like this: (note there can be more than two keys in the map) ({name1 3, name2 7}, {name1 35, name2 7}, {name1 0, name2 3}) What I am after is this data structure afterwards: ({:name1 [3,35,0]}, {:name2 [7,7,3]}) Ive been struggling with this for a while and cant seem to get anywhere near. Caveats: The data must stay sorted and I have N keywords not just two.

  • Implement Google Maps-like image dragging functionality?

    - by Rosarch
    I have a graph with 1000+ nodes that is fairly sparse. I would like to create a visualization of this graph, and let users drag around it, the same way that users can drag the image of Google or Bing maps around. Is there any service/toolkit/technology that exists to allow me to do this easily? Javascript? Silverlight? Flash/Flex?

  • Strange issues with view switcher after object animator animations

    - by Barry Irvine
    I have two LinearLayout views that contain a number of edit texts and checkboxes for entering user information (name, email address etc). When a validation fails on one of these fields a gone textview is displayed showing the validation error. I have enclosed the two layouts within a ViewSwitcher and I animate between the two views using the ObjectAnimator class. (Since the code needs to support older versions of Android I am actually using the nineoldandroids backwards compatibility library for this). The bulk of the work is performed in my switchToChild method. If I flip the views more than twice then I start to run into strange errors. Firstly although the correct child view of the view animator is displayed it seems that the other view has focus and I can click on the views beneath the current one. I resolved this issue by adding a viewSwitcher.bringChildToFront at the end of the first animation. When I do this however and perform a validation on the 2nd view the "gone" view that I have now set to visible is not displayed (as if the linearlayout is never being re-measured). Here is a subset of the XML file: <ScrollView android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:layout_below="@+id/TitleBar" android:scrollbarAlwaysDrawVerticalTrack="true" android:scrollbarStyle="outsideOverlay" android:scrollbars="vertical" > <ViewSwitcher android:id="@+id/switcher" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content" > <LinearLayout android:id="@+id/page_1" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:orientation="vertical" > <!-- Lots of subviews here --> <LinearLayout android:id="@+id/page_2" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:orientation="vertical" > And this is the main method for flipping between the views: private void switchToChild(final int child) { final ViewSwitcher viewSwitcher = (ViewSwitcher) findViewById(R.id.switcher); if (viewSwitcher.getDisplayedChild() != child) { final Interpolator accelerator = new AccelerateInterpolator(); final Interpolator decelerator = new DecelerateInterpolator(); final View visibleView; final View invisibleView; switch (child) { case 0: visibleView = findViewById(R.id.page_2); invisibleView = findViewById(R.id.page_1); findViewById(R.id.next).setVisibility(View.VISIBLE); findViewById(R.id.back).setVisibility(View.GONE); break; case 1: default: visibleView = findViewById(R.id.page_1); invisibleView = findViewById(R.id.page_2); findViewById(R.id.back).setVisibility(View.VISIBLE); findViewById(R.id.next).setVisibility(View.GONE); break; } final ObjectAnimator visToInvis = ObjectAnimator.ofFloat(visibleView, "rotationY", 0f, 90f).setDuration(250); visToInvis.setInterpolator(accelerator); final ObjectAnimator invisToVis = ObjectAnimator.ofFloat(invisibleView, "rotationY", -90f, 0f).setDuration(250); invisToVis.setInterpolator(decelerator); visToInvis.addListener(new AnimatorListenerAdapter() { @Override public void onAnimationEnd(Animator anim) { viewSwitcher.showNext(); invisToVis.start(); viewSwitcher.bringChildToFront(invisibleView); // If I don't do this the old view can have focus } }); visToInvis.start(); } } Does anyone have any ideas? This is really confusing me!

  • "Find nearest location" by Zip/Postal Code?

    - by codemonkey613
    I need a "find nearest location" on our website. Where visitor enters their zip/postal code, then they are redirected to specific webpage for our nearest location. We have forty USA and Canada locations. How can I build something like this? Could I do this with the Google Maps API? I already have a custom map on Google Maps. It's plotted with our locations. It would be nice to send Google Maps a command to say "what's our nearest location at __ zip code". Any suggestions?

  • Drawing lines between views in a TableLayout

    - by RiThBo
    Firstly - sorry if you saw my other question which I deleted. My question was flawed. Here is a better version If I have two views, how do I draw a (straight) line between them when one of them is touched? The line needs to be dynamic so it can follow the finger until it reaches the second view where it "locks on". So, when view1 is touched a straight line is drawn which then follows the finger until it reaches view2. I created a LineView class that extends view, but I don't how to proceed. I read some tutorials but none show how to do this. I think I need to get the coordinates of both view, and then create a path which "updates" on MotionEvent. I can get the coordinates and the ids of the views I want to draw a line between, but the line that I try to draw between them either goes above it, or the line does not reach past the width and height of the view. Any advice/code/clarity would be much appreciated! Here is some code: My layout. I want to draw a line between two views contained in theTableLayout.# <RelativeLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" android:id="@+id/activity_game_relative_layout" android:layout_width="match_parent" android:layout_height="match_parent" android:orientation="vertical" > <TableLayout android:layout_marginTop="35dp" android:layout_marginBottom="35dp" android:id="@+id/tableLayout1" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:layout_centerInParent="true" > <TableRow android:id="@+id/table_row_1" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:padding="5dip" > <com.example.view.DotView android:id="@+id/game_dot_1" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:layout_marginBottom="10dp" android:layout_marginLeft="10dp" android:layout_marginRight="10dp" android:layout_marginTop="10dp" /> <com.example.view.DotView android:id="@+id/game_dot_2" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:layout_marginBottom="10dp" android:layout_marginLeft="10dp" android:layout_marginRight="10dp" android:layout_marginTop="10dp" /> <com.example.view.DotView android:id="@+id/game_dot_3" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:layout_marginBottom="10dp" android:layout_marginLeft="10dp" android:layout_marginRight="10dp" android:layout_marginTop="10dp" /> </TableRow> <TableRow android:id="@+id/table_row_2" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:padding="5dip" > <com.example.view.DotView android:id="@+id/game_dot_7" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:layout_marginBottom="10dp" android:layout_marginLeft="10dp" android:layout_marginRight="10dp" android:layout_marginTop="10dp" /> <com.example.view.DotView android:id="@+id/game_dot_8" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:layout_marginBottom="10dp" android:layout_marginLeft="10dp" android:layout_marginRight="10dp" android:layout_marginTop="10dp" /> <com.example.dotte.DotView android:id="@+id/game_dot_9" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:layout_marginBottom="10dp" android:layout_marginLeft="10dp" android:layout_marginRight="10dp" android:layout_marginTop="10dp" /> </TableRow> </TableLayout> </RelativeLayout> This is my LineView class. I use this to try and draw the actual line between the points. public class LineView extends View { Paint paint = new Paint(); float startingX, startingY, endingX, endingY; public LineView(Context context) { super(context); // TODO Auto-generated constructor stub paint.setColor(Color.BLACK); paint.setStrokeWidth(10); } public void setPoints(float startX, float startY, float endX, float endY) { startingX = startX; startingY = startY; endingX = endX; endingY = endY; invalidate(); } @Override public void onDraw(Canvas canvas) { canvas.drawLine(startingX, startingY, endingX, endingY, paint); } } And this is my Activity. public class Game extends Activity { DotView dv1, dv2, dv3, dv4, dv5, dv6, dv7; @Override protected void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) { super.onCreate(savedInstanceState); setContentView(R.layout.activity_game); getWindow().getDecorView().setSystemUiVisibility( View.SYSTEM_UI_FLAG_LOW_PROFILE); findDotIds(); RelativeLayout rl = (RelativeLayout) findViewById(R.id.activity_game_relative_layout); LineView lv = new LineView(this); lv.setPoints(dv1.getLeft(), dv1.getTop(), dv7.getLeft(), dv7.getTop()); rl.addView(lv); // TODO: Get the coordinates of all the dots in the TableLayout. • Adding ID's to google map markers

    - by Nick
    I have a script that loops and adds markers one at a time. I am trying to get the current marker to have an info window and and only have 5 markers on a map at a time (4 without info windows and 1 with) How would i add an id to each marker so that i can delete and close info windows as needed. this is the function i am using to set the marker function codeAddress(address, contentString) { var infowindow = new google.maps.InfoWindow({ content: contentString }); if (geocoder) { geocoder.geocode( { 'address': address}, function(results, status) { if (status == google.maps.GeocoderStatus.OK) { map.setCenter(results[0].geometry.location); var marker = new google.maps.Marker({ map: map, position: results[0].geometry.location }); infowindow.open(map,marker); } else { alert("Geocode was not successful for the following reason: " + status); } }); } }

  • Geocoding non-addresses: Geopy

    - by Phil Donovan
    Using geopy to geocode alcohol outlets in NZ. The problem I have is that some places do not have street addresses but are places in Google Maps. For example, plugging: Furneaux Lodge, Endeavour Inlet, Queen Charlotte Sound, Marlborough 7250 into Google Maps via the browser GUI gives me However, using that in Geopy I get a GQueryError saying this geographic location does not exist. Here is the code for geocoding: def GeoCode(address): g=geocoders.Google(domain="maps.google.co.nz") geoloc = g.geocode(address, exactly_one=False) place, (lat, lng) = geoloc[0] GeoOut = [] GeoOut.extend([place, lat, lng]) return GeoOut GeoCode("Furneaux Lodge, Endeavour Inlet, Queen Charlotte Sound, Marlboroguh 7250") Meanwhile, I notice that "Eiffel Tower" works fine. Is there away to solve this and can someone explain the difference between The Eiffel Tower and Furneaux Lodge within Google 'locations'?

  • In Prism (CAL), how can I RegisterPresenterWithRegion instead of RegisterViewWithRegion

    - by Edward Tanguay
    I have a module in a Prism application and in its initialize method I want to register a presenter instead of a view with a region, i.e. I want to do this: PSEUDO-CODE: regionManager.RegisterPresenterWithRegion( "MainRegion", typeof(Presenters.EditCustomerPresenter)); instead of loading a view like this: regionManager.RegisterViewWithRegion( "MainRegion", typeof(Views.EditCustomerView)); The presenter would of course bring along its own view and ultimately register this view in the region, but it would allow me to bind the presenter to the view in the presenter's constructor instead of binding the two together in XAML (which is more of a decoupled MVVM pattern which I want to avoid here). How can I add a Presenter to a Region instead of a view? namespace Client.Modules.CustomerModule { [Module(ModuleName = "CustomerModule")] public class CustomerModule : IModule { private readonly IRegionManager regionManager; public CustomerModule(IRegionManager regionManager) { this.regionManager = regionManager; } public void Initialize() { regionManager.RegisterViewWithRegion("MainRegion", typeof(Views.EditCustomerView)); } } }

  • Get latitude and longitude using map interface

    - by Dave Jarvis
    Problem Allow website users to enter four latitude and longitude coordinates. Proposed Solution Integrate Google Maps API, and add a click event handler, similar to: http://itouchmap.com/latlong.html http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2770421/how-retrieve-latitude-and-longitude-via-google-maps-api http://marcgrabanski.com/article/jquery-google-maps-tutorial-basics The data would populate into a hidden form field. Questions What other ways (besides <input type='text' ... />) outside of Google's API are available to solve the problem? How would you restrict the number of lat/long points the user can choose? Would using those coordinates violate Google's Terms of Service? Thank you!

  • Android; Confused by views?

    - by javano
    I have created a class (InputControl) which extends the view of my main class (Main), and takes focus of the screen. I have a button on the main xml layout which calls control() and sets up my InputControl view, from there I capture user input. How can I return back to the xml layout from the InputControl view class? public class Main extends Activity { public void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) { super.onCreate(savedInstanceState); setContentView(R.layout.main); InputControl = new InputControl(this); } //......SNIP! public void control(){ setContentView(InputControl); InputControl.requestFocus(); } } public class InputControl extends View implements OnTouchListener { public InputControl(Context context) { super(context); setFocusable(true); setFocusableInTouchMode(true); this.setOnTouchListener(this); } public boolean onTouch(View view, MotionEvent event) { //...I AM CAPTURING USER TOUCH EVENTS HERE } }

  • "database already closed" is shown using a custom cursor adapter

    - by kiduxa
    I'm using a cursor with a custom adapter that extends SimpleCursorAdapter: public class ListWordAdapter extends SimpleCursorAdapter { private LayoutInflater inflater; private Cursor mCursor; private int mLayout; private String[] from; private int[] to; public ListWordAdapter(Context context, int layout, Cursor c, String[] from, int[] to, int flags) { super(context, layout, c, from, to, flags); this.mCursor = c; this.inflater = LayoutInflater.from(context); this.mLayout = layout; this.from = from; this.to = to; } private static class ViewHolder { //public ImageView img; public TextView name; public TextView type; public TextView translate; } @Override public View getView(int position, View convertView, ViewGroup parent) { if (mCursor.moveToPosition(position)) { ViewHolder holder; if (convertView == null) { convertView = inflater.inflate(mLayout, null); holder = new ViewHolder(); // holder.img = (ImageView) convertView.findViewById(R.id.img_row); holder.name = (TextView) convertView.findViewById(to[0]); holder.type = (TextView) convertView.findViewById(to[1]); holder.translate = (TextView) convertView.findViewById(to[2]); convertView.setTag(holder); } else { holder = (ViewHolder) convertView.getTag(); } holder.name.setText(mCursor.getString(mCursor.getColumnIndex(from[0]))); holder.type.setText(mCursor.getString(mCursor.getColumnIndex(from[1]))); holder.translate.setText(mCursor.getString(mCursor.getColumnIndex(from[2]))); // holder.img.setImageResource(img_resource); } return convertView; } } And in the main activity I call it as: adapter = new ListWordAdapter(getSherlockActivity(), R.layout.row_list_words, mCursorWords, from, to, 0); When a modification in the list is made, I call this method: public void onWordSaved() { WordDAO wordsDao = new WordSqliteDAO(); Cursor mCursorWords = wordsDao.list(getSherlockActivity()); adapter.changeCursor(mCursorWords); } The thing here is that this produces me this exception: 10-29 EDIT: I have created a custom class to manage DB operations as open and close: public class ConexionBD { private Context context; private SQLiteDatabase database; private DataBaseHelper dbHelper; public ConexionBD(Context context) { this.context = context; } public ConexionBD open() throws SQLException { this.dbHelper = DataBaseHelper.getInstance(context); this.database = dbHelper.getWritableDatabase(); database.execSQL("PRAGMA foreign_keys=ON"); return this; } public void close() { if (database.isOpen() && database != null) { dbHelper.close(); } } /*Getters y setters*/ public SQLiteDatabase getDatabase() { return database; } public void setDatabase(SQLiteDatabase database) { this.database = database; } } And this is my DataBaseHelper: public class DataBaseHelper extends SQLiteOpenHelper { private static final String DATABASE_NAME = "myDb"; private static final int DATABASE_VERSION = 1; private static DataBaseHelper sInstance = null; public static DataBaseHelper getInstance(Context context) { // Use the application context, which will ensure that you // don't accidentally leak an Activity's context. // See this article for more information: http://bit.ly/6LRzfx if (sInstance == null) { sInstance = new DataBaseHelper(context.getApplicationContext()); } return sInstance; } @Override public void onCreate(SQLiteDatabase database) { ... } .... And this is an example of how I manage a query: public Cursor list(Context context) { ConexionBD conexion = new ConexionBD(context); Cursor mCursor = null; try{ conexion.open(); mCursor = conexion.getDatabase().query(DataBaseHelper.TABLE_WORD , null , null, null, null, null, Word.NAME); if (mCursor != null) { mCursor.moveToFirst(); } }finally{ conexion.close(); } return mCursor; } For every connection to the DB I open it and close it.

  • MapView tiles loading in Android

    - by Pich
    In the Maps application (at least version 5) for Android the tiles are loading in a different way, than when using a MapView in my own application, when for example zooming in or out. In the MapView displays a gray checkered image until the tile is fully loaded an than the map is displayed. In Maps application this it not the case all the time. Tiles that are not fully loaded are still showing a map but it is blurry. The Maps application way of showing the map when zooming is much prettier for the eye. Is it possible to have this "feature" in a MapView in my own application as well? Best regards P

Any ideas about how I can do this?

  • What method of UIView gets called when instantiated from a NIB?

    - by retailevolved
    I have a simple custom view that is connected via outlet to a NIB. For this particular view, there are actions that I would like to perform on the view when it is initialized, no matter what NIB it is on. Trouble is, neither the (id)init or the (id)initWithFrame:(CGRect)frame methods are getting called on the custom view. Which method gets called on a UIView when it is instantiated from a NIB? I would just use the view controller and viewDidLoad method except that this particular view appears on a lot of different NIBs.

  • Is there a way to have a dynamic google map that opens links in _blank?

    - by danieltalsky
    I came up with a good solution for a client showing a google map iFrame using the normal google maps embed. Only problem? They want the links inside the iFrame to open in a new window instead of there on the page. So, I used the static API to come up with a static image of a map and have that link to the google maps site with target="_blank". Great, but they don't get the pretty draggable map. Is there a way to do what I want using the google maps API? I'm reading the API documentation but without actually trying it I'm not sure if it can be done, and would love it if someone with some experience with the API can point me in the right direction or just tell me why it's WAY not worth the effort.
