  • Resuming File Downloads in Ruby on Rails

    - by jaycode
    Hi, this has been asked here: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1840413/resuming-file-downloads-in-ruby-on-rails-range-header-support But there was no answer. I am having similar problem, could anybody help, please? Thanks before. Alright I am getting close. Seems like I need to setup header Content-Length or Content-Range, as described here: http://www.w3.org/Protocols/rfc2616/rfc2616-sec14.html#sec14.13. Haven't got an idea how. Anybody knows? Jay response.header["Content-Range"] = "20000-#{size}" send_file "#{Dir.pwd}/products/filename.zip", :type => 'application/zip', :size => (size - 20000) doesn't work

  • pagination in css/php

    - by fusion
    two questions: --1-- it displays all the number of pages. but i'd like it to display as: << Prev . . 3 4 [5] 6 7 . . Next --2-- when i hover on the current page no, it should change color or increase the font-size, but when i modify the css of a:hover, all the page nos change color or size instead of the one which i'm pointing to. also, when modifying a:active, nothing happens. this is my paging code in php: $self = $_SERVER['PHP_SELF']; $limit = 2; //Number of results per page $numpages=ceil($totalrows/$limit); $query = $query." • Odd problem with IE8 and z-index CSS property

    - by DK39
    I not been able to put one DIV over his parent DIV in Internet Explorer. With Firefox is working as suposed to. The odd part is that if I open the html file directly in IE, everything works fine. But if I upload to the server and open from there, the div is hidden underneath his parent. I've tried several z-index combinations and none works. Here's the code: <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.1//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml11/DTD/xhtml11.dtd"> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" > <head> <title>Test</title> <meta http-equiv="content-type" content="text-html; charset=utf-8" /> <style type="text/css"> .col { float:left; width:310px; margin-right:13px; } .art { position:relative; border-bottom: 1px solid #d0d0d0; font: normal normal bold 11px Arial,Verdana,Helvetica; color:#A0A0A0; width:310px; height:50px; top:0px; left: 0px; margin-right:10px; background-color:#F0F0F0; } .art a { padding:3px; display:block; width:304px; height:100%; color:#707070; } .art a:visited { color:#A0A0A0; } .art a:hover { background-color:#E0E0E0; } .box { z-index:1000; background-color:#A0A0A0; color:#404040; font: normal normal bold 11px Arial,Verdana,Helvetica; display:none; position:absolute; top:30px; left:10px; text-align:left; border:3px solid #707070; margin:5px 0px 5px 5px; font-size:10px; color:White; width:100%; } </style> <script type="text/javascript"> function sh(obj) { var el = document.getElementById(obj); if ( el.style.display != 'block' ) { el.style.display = 'block'; } else { el.style.display = 'none'; } } </script> </head> <body> <div class="col"> <div class="art"> <a href="" target="_blank" onmouseover="javascript:sh('i0')" onmouseout="javascript:sh('i0')">Title 1</a> <div id="i0" class="box"> <div class="text"> Les "chemises rouges" manifestent depuis la mi-mars pour faire tomber le gouvernement et occupent depuis trois semaines un quartier touristique et commerçant autour duquel ils ont érigé des barricades. </div> </div> </div> <div class="art"> <a href="" target="_blank" onmouseover="javascript:sh('i1')" onmouseout="javascript:sh('i1')">Title2</a> <div id="i1" class="box"> <div class="text"> Une association ardéchoise accueillant des séminaires de "bien-être" et de "développement personnel" a refusé d'accueillir un stage de danse en invoquant l'homosexualité des participants, ont indiqué aujourd'hui les organisateurs. </div> </div> </div> </div> </body> </html> What's is going on here?

  • Margically appearing margin in footer. Could use some fresh eye's on this.

    - by Banderdash
    Hi chaps! Got a nearly finished coded comp here: http://clients.pixelbleed.net/biodesign/ I realize it's not completely valid, what with my nesting of li's and ul's within A tags. Unfortunately that's the way it has to be. My issue is with the very bottom of the footer. It has a space showing the body's background color beneath it. Tried a number of things and this space after the black link bar on the very bottom is a resistant little bugger. Ideally the black box on the bottom should rest against the very base of the view-port, at least when the content is sufficiently long--which it is in this case. If someone would like to take a quick peak at my source and give me some ideas I'd be very grateful. The CSS can be found here: http://clients.pixelbleed.net/biodesign/css/core.css And, yes, I've tried removing the height:100%. Makes no difference it seems. I do believe the issue to be with the footer, as when I remove these Div's the content rests as it should. Just don't see anything in my CSS to cause the margin/spacing issue though. Thanks so much.

  • CSS issue with margin: auto

    - by user1702273
    Hi am having an issue with the margin auto of my website where i have a wrapper div with the width set to 1000px and the margins top and bottom to 0 and left and right to auto. I have a navigation menu in the side bar, where i used java script to replace the same div with different tables. when i click a link in the menu the wrapper shifts right some px and the comes to original, I don't want that action i want the wrapper to be static and not to vary at any time. how can i achieve that. when i set the margin to just 0, so problem with positioning. But i want the wrapper to be centered. Here is my css code: body { background-color:#E2E3E4; color:#333; margin:0; padding:0; font-size: 12px; } #wrapper { width:1000px; margin:0 auto; margin-bottom:10px; } #header1 { width:1000px; height:44px; margin:0 auto; background-color:#ED6B06; } #header2 { width:1000px; height:40px; margin:0 auto; border-bottom:1px solid #EDE9DE; } #header3 { width:1000px; height:40px; margin:0 auto; border-bottom:1px solid #EDE9DE; } #header2 p { margin:0 auto; font-size:20pt; color: #364395; font-smooth: auto; margin-left:15px; margin-top:5px; } #welcome { width:600px; float:left; padding:10px; margin:0 auto; } #status{ margin:0 auto; width:50px; float:right; padding:10px; margin-top:3px; margin-right:15px; } #content { width:780px; float:right; } #sidebar { width:150px; margin-top:15px; margin-left:10px; float:left; border-right:1px solid #EDE9DE; margin-bottom:25px; } #footer { clear:both; margin:0 auto; width:1000px; height:44px; border-top:1px solid #EDE9DE; } HTML: <html> <head> <link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="style/style.css" media="screen" /> <title>Pearson Schools Management Portal</title> </head> <body id="home"> <div id="wrapper"> <?php include('includes/header1.php'); ?> <?php include('includes/header2.php'); ?> <?php include('includes/header3.php'); ?> <div id="content"> <h2>Welcome to Portal!</h2> </div> <!-- end #content --> <?php include('includes/sidebar.php'); ?> <?php include('includes/footer.php'); ?> </div> <!-- End #wrapper --> <link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" media="screen" href="http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jqueryui/1.7.2/themes/base/jquery-ui.css"> <script type="text/javascript" src="http://code.jquery.com/jquery-latest.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript" src="http://jzaefferer.github.com/jquery-validation/jquery.validate.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript" src="https://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jqueryui/1.8.16/jquery-ui.min.js"></script> <?php include('scripts/index_data.js'); ?> </body>

  • Expand <div> tag to bottom of page with CSS

    - by typoknig
    Hi all, I know this question gets asked a lot because I have looked at many "solutions" trying to get this to work for me. I can get it to work if I hack up the html but I want to use all CSS. All I want is a header with two columns below it, and I want these three items to fill the entire page/screen, and I want to do it with CSS and without frames or tables. The XAMPP user interface looks exactly how I want my page to look, but again, I do not want to use frames. I cannot get the two orangeish colored columns to extend to the bottom of the screen. I do have it so it looks like the right column extends to the bottom of the screen just by changing the body background color to the same color as the background color of the right column, but I would like both columns to extend to the bottom so I didn't have to do that. Here is what I have so far: HTML <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd"> <html dir="ltr" xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <head> <title>MY SITE</title> <meta content="text/html; charset=utf-8" http-equiv="Content-Type" /> <link href="stylesheet.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" /> </head> <body> <div id="container"> <div id="masthead"> MY SITE</div> <div id="left_col"> Employee Management<br /> <a href="Employee%20Management.php">Add New Employee</a><br /> <a href="Employee%20Management.php">Edit Existing Employee</a><br /> <br/> Load Management<br /> <a href="Load%20Management.php">Log New Load</a><br /> <a href="Load%20Management.php">Edit Existing Load</a><br /> <br/> Report Management<br /> <a href="Report%20Management.php">Employee Report</a><br /> <a href="Report%20Management.php">Load Report</a></div> <div id="page_content"> <div id="page_content_heading">Welcome!</div> Lots of words</div> </div> </body> </html> CSS #masthead { background-color:#FFFFFF; font-family:Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif; font-size:xx-large; font-weight:bold; padding:30px; text-align:center; } #container { min-width: 600px; min-height: 100%; } #left_col { padding: 10px; background-color: #339933; float: left; font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif; font-size: large; font-weight: bold; width: 210px; } #page_content { background-color: #CCCCCC; margin-left: 230px; padding: 20px; } #page_content_heading { font-family:Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif; font-size:large; font-weight:bold; padding-bottom:10px; padding-top:10px; } a { color:#0000FF; font-family:Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif; font-size:medium; font-weight:normal; } a:hover { color:#FF0000; } html, body { height: 100%; padding: 0; margin: 0; background-color: #CCCCCC; }

  • not able to style a ul inside a nav tag

    - by user1831677
    I am trying to make a nav menu for my website and have been using http://www.onextrapixel.com/2011/06/03/how-to-create-a-horizontal-dropdown-menu-with-html-css-and-jquery/ as a guide. It has worked fine but as soon as I try to add ( id="coolMenu" ) to the nav tag it stops working. I took it away from the ul tag and added it to the nav tag and it no longer works. It does not display anything at all. What am in doing wrong? Thanks. html code below: <nav id="coolMenu"> <ul> <li><a href="#">Lorem</a></li> <li><a href="#">Mauricii</a></li> <li> <a href="#">Periher</a> <ul class="noJS"> <li><a href="#">Hellenico</a></li> <li><a href="#">Genere</a></li> <li><a href="#">Indulgentia</a></li> </ul> </li> <li><a href="#">Tyrio</a></li> <li><a href="#">Quicumque</a></li> </ul> </nav> css below: /* Structure ------------------------------------------*/ #coolMenu, #coolMenu ul { list-style: none; } #coolMenu { float: left; } #coolMenu > li { float: left; } #coolMenu li a { display: block; height: 2em; line-height: 2em; padding: 0 1.5em; text-decoration: none; } #coolMenu ul { position: absolute; display: none; z-index: 999; } #coolMenu ul li a { width: 80px; } #coolMenu li:hover ul.noJS { display: block; } /* Main menu ------------------------------------------*/ #coolMenu { font-family: Arial; font-size: 12px; background: #2f8be8; } #coolMenu > li > a { color: #fff; font-weight: bold; } #coolMenu > li:hover > a { background: #f09d28; color: #000; } /* Submenu ------------------------------------------*/ #coolMenu ul { background: #f09d28; } #coolMenu ul li a { color: #000; } #coolMenu ul li:hover a { background: #ffc97c; }

  • NoSQL as file meta database

    - by fga
    I am trying to implement a virtual file system structure in front of an object storage (Openstack). For availability reasons we initially chose Cassandra, however while designing file system data model, it looked like a tree structure similar to a relational model. Here is the dilemma for availability and partition tolerance we need NoSQL, but our data model is relational. The intended file system must be able to handle filtered search based on date, name etc. as fast as possible. So what path should i take? Stick to relational with some indexing mechanism backed by 3 rd tools like Apache Solr or dig deeper into NoSQL and find a suitable model and database satisfying the model? P.S: Currently from NoSQL Cassandra or MongoDB are choices proposed by my colleagues.

  • How to organize my site's file system properly?

    - by Wolfpack'08
    Doing some reading on Stack Overflow, I've found a lot of information suggesting that proper organization of a file system is crucial to a well-written web app. One of the key pieces of evidence is high-frequency references to "separation of concerns" in questions related to keeping programs organized. Now, I've found some information on organizing file systems (Filesystem Hierarchy Standard) from 2004. It raises only two concerns: first, the standard's a bit dated, so I believe it may be possible to do better given the changes in technology over the past 8 years; second, and most important, my application is very small compared to an entire Linux distro. I think that the file system should be organized very differently because of that. Here's what I'm looking at, currently: /scripts, /databases, /www -> /dev, /production -> login, router, admin pages, /sites -> content types, static pages /modules, /includes, /css, /media -> /module-specific-media

  • Does this file format exist?

    - by Jon Chase
    Is there a file format that handles the following use case... I'd like to create a tar file (or whatever - I'm just using tar here b/c it's a well known file format for containing multiple files) that would be usable even if I only had access to specific chunks of said file. For example, say I tar up my mp3 and photo collection into a 100GB tar file, then put the file into some long term storage somewhere. Later, I want to access a specific mp3 file. I don't want to download the entire 100GB tar file just to get to one mp3. In fact, let's say I can't download the entire 100GB tar file. Instead, I'd like to say "give me megabytes 10 through 19 of the 100GB tar file" and then have the mp3 magically extracted from those 10 megabytes. Does a file format like this exist?

  • Foremost custom file type not accepted by -t argument

    - by Channel72
    I'm trying to recover a deleted file on an ext3 file system using the foremost utility. The file I want to recover is a hpp C++ source code file. However, foremost does not automatically support the hpp file extension, so I have to add it to the config file. So, following the instructions on the man page, I add the following line to the config file: hpp n 50000 include include ASCII Then I run foremost as follows: $foremost -v -T -t hpp -i /dev/md0 -o /home/recover/ Instead of doing anything, it just displays the help message. If I change the hpp to htm or jpg, it works. So apparently foremost isn't accepting the custom file type I added into the config file. But I've looked over this dozens of times now, and I can't see what I'm doing wrong. I'm following the instructions exactly. Why doesn't foremost recognize the new file type I added to the config file?

  • CSS fluid layout with 2 columms

    - by Sune
    Ive building a website with a fluid layout. The structure is: <div id="maincontainer"> <div id="topsection"> <div class="innertube"><h1>CSS Liquid Layout #2.2- (Fluid-Fixed)</h1></div> </div> <div id="contentwrapper"> <div id="contentcolumn"> <div class="innertube"><b>Content Column:</b></div> </div> </div> <div id="rightcolumn"> <div class="innertube"><b>Right Column: <em>200px</em></b> <script type="text/javascript">filltext(14);</script></div> </div> <div id="footer"><a href="#">Some footer</a></div> </div> My problem is when my contentcolumm grows(height) I cant get my right columm too grow with. I can fix the problem with javascript where I measure out the contentcolumn height and set the same height on my rightcolumm. But Im wondering if there are any better css solution. here is clip from my css: #contentwrapper{ float: left; width: 100%; background:#FF7000; } #contentcolumn{ margin-right: 200px; } #rightcolumn{ float: left; width: 200px; margin-left: -200px; background: #BBBBBB; }

  • Indentation annoyance with CSS in Vim

    - by Johan Sahlén
    I've moved from TextMate to Vim lately, and am really liking the switch. However, I have an itch regarding the way Vim handles indentation within curly braces using the CSS syntax. I use simple_pairs.vim, which may or may not have something to do with my problem, but I don't think so, as things work fine in PHP, JavaScript, etc. Let me explain… I generally group my CSS rules by context using indentation, like so: ul#nav { margin: 10px; } ul#nav li { float: left; margin-right: 4px; } That means when I type my ul#nav li rule, followed by { (which inserts a corresponding } automatically) and hit enter, I want the closing brace to be at the same indentation level as the ul#…, but instead I get something like this: ul#nav { margin: 10px; } ul#nav li { } So I have to indent the extra step(s) manually. Like I said, doing the same thing in PHP, JavaScript, etc, works fine. Does anyone know how I can fix this? I don't understand enough of Vim's syntax definition files for me to be able to figure out what in the PHP syntax file makes it work, and port it over to the CSS one… Thanks.

  • Using jQuery.UI CSS Framework for DIV Styling

    - by Gordon
    Hi folks, a Project I am currently working on uses the jQuery UI framework for some of its widgets. To provide the user with a global look and feel I would like to use the framework also for its css stuff. I am implementing at the moment a dashboard like homepage, where the user can see an overall status of its data. This dashboard is build of some divs that should be aligned into a grid layout. I try to style the divs like follows <div class="ui-widget"> <div class="ui-widget-header">Box Header</div> <div class="ui-widget-content"> Content of the Box </div> </div> Later I would like to implement some draggable-and-sortable functionality. The Problem I am facing right now is that the boxes aren't properly aligned. Does anyone has a hint on using jQuery.UI for that kind of css work? I was studing the CSS framework documentation on jqueryui.com but there aren't that much information. best regards, Gordon

  • Use any CSS compiler (Sass, Less) to generate the selector

    - by xckpd7
    So I've recently been playing around with CSS compilers, but I have no idea how (or if it's possible) to dynamically generate pieces of a selector. For instance, let's say I wanted to make mixins to get display: inline-block; to work cross browser. I would have to do the styles, yeah, but I would have to do the IE6/7 selector hacks to get them to work in those browsers too. Ideally I'm looking for a one off thing to add to an element and have the ability for that to work. Some kind person recently gave me this solution: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2746754/css-compilers-and-converting-ie-hacks-to-conditional-css/2747036#2747036 and it would be nice to implement that in a minimal way that would allow me to specify it for a given element and be on my way (for instance in Less, you can create a class with styles, pass that class to another element, and that element will inherit all of those styles. It would be nice to pass an element .inline-block; and it create the styles needed to support IE6/7 without having to resort to stuff like _color: pink; Any ideas? EDIT: for instance as well, how could I do something like clearfix for LESS? (lesscss.org)? If Sass can only do it then that will work too.

  • Making Firefox render canvas text the same as CSS text

    - by Dan Forys
    I've been experimenting with the canvas tag and Javascript. I've made a page that takes Tweets from the Twitter public timeline and animates them into view. It works by using a canvas element in the background for the animation. When the animation is complete, it creates a div element with the same text over the top. I do this so that the tweet text is selectable and links are clickable. Now, in Safari, Chrome and even Opera, the canvas text and div text look almost exactly the same. Yet in Firefox, the size of the text is different enough to make it 'jump' at the point it changes into the div. Does anyone know how to make Firefox render the text the same on the canvas element and the div using CSS? Or is this a rendering inconsistency with the engine. I have put the page on my website if you want to see what I mean. Now for the code: The CSS I'm using for rendering the div contains: line-height: 21px; font-weight: 100; font-family: Georgia, "New Century Schoolbook", "Nimbus Roman No9 L", serif; font-size: 20px; For rendering on the canvas I'm using: this.context.font = this.scale + 'px Georgia'; this.context.fillStyle = "white"; this.context.strokeStyle = 'white'; this.context.fillText(this.text, 0, 0); this.context.strokeText(this.text, 0, 0); where this.scale is an animated scale factor that finishes at 20px exactly. So, to recap, I'm using the same font and ending up at the same px size, yet Firefox renders the text differently between Canvas and CSS. (edit) Here's a screenshot example: First line is the text animating in using canvas, second line is the resulting div.

  • CSS class not being used on list item with styling

    - by scatteredbomb
    I have a list item thats styled based on the div container it's in. I want to add a "selected" class to that item, but it's not changing the styling. Firebug doesn't show it inhereting any styles from that css style. You'll see I'm adding class="columnTabSelected" to the first tab, but that's not changing anything. Here's a screenshot from Firebug to show that style isn't being added to the element. http://i49.tinypic.com/oszfqh.jpg What am i missing? My html <div id="columnNewsTabs"> <ul> <li id="recentHeadlinesLink" onclick="columnNews('recentHeadlines')" class="columnTabSelected">Recent</li> <li id="recentCommentstLink" onclick="columnNews('recentComments')">Comments</li> <li id="popularHeadlinesLink" onclick="columnNews('popularHeadlines')">Popular</li> </ul> </div> My CSS #columnNewsTabs { overflow:auto; } #columnNewsTabs ul { list-style:none; margin:0px; padding-left:0px; } #columnNewsTabs li { float:left; margin-right:2px; font-family:Tahoma; font-weight:bold; padding: 5px; border:1px solid #ccc; border-bottom:none; } #columnNewsTabs li:hover { float:left; margin-right:2px; color:black; font-family:Tahoma; font-weight:bold; padding: 5px border:1px solid #ccc; border-bottom:none; background:#ccc; } #columnTabSelected { background: #CCCCCC !important; }

  • Speed of CSS

    - by Ólafur Waage
    This is just a question to help me understand CSS rendering better. Lets say we have a million lines of this. <div class="first"> <div class="second"> <span class="third">Hello World</span> </div> </div> Which would be the fastest way to change the font of Hello World to red? .third { color: red; } div.third { color: red; } div.second div.third { color: red; } div.first div.second div.third { color: red; } Also, what if there was at tag in the middle that had a unique id of "foo". Which one of the CSS methods above would be the fastest. I know why these methods are used etc, im just trying to grasp better the rendering technique of the browsers and i have no idea how to make a test that times it. UPDATE: Nice answer Gumbo. From the looks of it then it would be quicker in a regular site to do the full definition of a tag. Since it finds the parents and narrows the search for every parent found. That could be bad in the sense you'd have a pretty large CSS file though.

  • CSS Hover on parent list Item only

    - by Daniel O'Connor
    Hey Everyone, So I have some nested lists (only one level deep) and I'm running into trouble with the CSS :hover feature. I only want the hover to apply to the parent class, but I can't figure that one out. Here's my CSS <style type="text/css" media="screen"> .listblock li img { visibility: hidden; } .listblock li:hover img { visibility: visible; } </style> And here is a sample of one of the lists. <ul> <li>One <a href="#"><img src="img/basket.png" height="16" width="16" alt="Buy" class="buy" onClick="pageTracker._trackEvent('Outbound Links', 'Amazon');"/></a></li> <li>Two <a href="#"><img src="img/basket.png" height="16" width="16" class="buy" /></a> <ul> <li>Uno<a href="#"><img src="img/basket.png" height="16" width="16" class="buy" /></a></li> <li>Dos <a href="#"><img src="img/basket.png" height="16" width="16" class="buy" /></a></li> </ul> </li> <li>Three <a href="#"><img src="img/basket.png" height="16" width="16" alt="Buy" class="buy" onClick="pageTracker._trackEvent('Outbound Links', 'Amazon');"/></a></li> </ul> The problem is that the image in the Uno and Dos list items also hovers. :( Help please! Thanks a lot

  • CSS DIV not expanding when more text is added

    - by decbrad
    Hi there... I have a quick CSS question, i'm hoping that somebody can help me out! I have a DIV called #ContentPanel and I want it to be able to expand so that it can cater for more text if needed. At the moment if the text is longer than 500px (as specified in the CSS) it flows out the bottom and over the content in the div below. How can I set it up to auto expand and push all divs after downwards. If anybody has any ideas, please let me know Here's the HTML <div id="MainContent"> <div id="MainImage"></div> <div id="ContentPanel">Text content goes here.</div> </div> ...and here's the CSS #MainContent { position:relative; height:500px; width:800px; margin:0 auto; background-color: #000; } #MainImage { position:absolute; top:0; left:0; width:350px; height:500px; background-color:#000; } #ContentPanel { position:absolute; height:500px; top:0; left:350px; width:450px; background-color:#000; } Thanks in advance! Kind regards, Decbrad

  • css problem - 'post link'

    - by csetzkorn
    Hi, I am no css expert so I am wondering whether someone could help. I have several forms to delete an item like this: <form action="/Items/DeleteItem" class="deleteForm" method="post"> Some text <input id="Id" name="Id" value="14014" type="hidden"> <input value="Delete" class="link_button" type="submit"> </form> This should look like this: Some text Delete Here ‘Some text’ describes the item and Delete is a ‘link’ which performs a post request to delete the item (as virtually all browsers only support the post and get requests). I have started to style things (CSS below) but the ‘Delete’ ‘link’ is still slightly offset in relation to ‘Some text’ (at least in firefox). I would appreciate any help with the css. Thanks! .link_button { background-color:white; border:0; color:#034af3; text-decoration:underline; font-size:1em; font-family:inherit; cursor:pointer; float:left; margin:0; padding:0; } .deleteForm { float:right; margin:0; padding:0; } Christian

  • How to control CSS class applied to ASP.NET 4 Menu with RenderingMode=List

    - by Joe
    I am using an ASP.NET 4.0 Menu control with RenderingMode=List and am struggling with creating the appropriate CSS. Each menu item is represented by an <li tag that contains a nested <a tag with what appear to be fixed class names: <a class="level1" for unselected level 1 menu items <a class="level2" for unselected level 2 menu items <a class="level1 selected" for the selected level 1 menu item ... etc... What I want to do is to is to prevent the currently selected menu item from being "clickable". To do so I tried using: if (menuItem.Selected) menuItem.Selectable = false; This has the desired effect of removing the href attribute from the <a tag but also removes the class attribute - and as a result my CSS can not identify what level the menu item belongs to! Looks to me like a possible bug, but in any case I can't find any documentation describing what CSS class names are used, nor whether there is any way to control this (the old Style properties don't appear to have any effect). Ideally I would like to have "level" class attributes on the <li tags, not just the nested <a tags.

  • CSS box around box technique

    - by webzide
    Dear Experts, I was trying to make an CSS division box with content in it as well as a border around it. Instead of using the box-border technique, I was trying out a new box to box technique instead. <html> <head> <style type="text/css"> #outer{ height: 20px; width: 20px; background-color:#233D78; } #inner{ height:18px; width: 18px; background-color: #FFF; font-size: 1em; text-align:center; font-family:'Bookman Old Style', serif; padding: 0px; margin-top: 1px; margin-right:auto; margin-left:auto; margin-bottom:1px; vertical-align:middle; } </style> </head> <body> <div id="outer"><div id="inner">TEXT</div></div> </body> </html> Somehow the borders are just not showing up right with FireFox. I tried everything. Setting up the Paddings of both boxes, margin, and messing around with the width. TO be honest, it took me around 30min to do this and I still can't get it right :( I know that a way to achieve the same result would be setting up a border around just one box. But I just wanna learn this box around box background-color technique. THanks in advance

  • CSS being ignored in IE & FFox but not Chrome

    - by Grant
    Hi, i am styling a navigation menu using the following css. I have found that it works perfectly in chrome but absolutely none of the css is beign applied in firefox or IE. Is there something obvious that i havent done or have done here? <style type="text/css"> #ddm { margin: 0; padding: 0; } #ddm li { float: left; list-style: none; font: 8pt Tahoma, Geneva, sans-serif; } #ddm li a { display: block; padding: 5px 12px; text-decoration: none; border-right: 1px solid white; width: 70px; white-space: nowrap; color:Red; border: none; } #ddm li a:hover { color:White; background-color:#444444; } #ddm li ul { margin: 0; padding: 0; position: absolute; visibility: hidden; } #ddm li ul li { float: none; display: inline } #ddm li ul li a { width: auto; } #ddm li ul li a:hover { } </style> <ul id="ddm"> <li> <ul> <li><a href="#">test 1</a></li> <li><a href="#">test 2</a></li> </ul> </li> </ul>

  • Get :first-letter of :hover element with CSS

    - by Rudie
    Is it possible to get the first letter of an element while in 'hover mode'? This is how it would look - I think - but it's not working in Chrome 10: a:hover:first-letter or a:first-letter:hover Technically (imho) they're not the same. The first takes the first letter of the hovering element. The second takes the entire element if the first letter is hovering. I require the first. As you can see on http://css4.hotblocks.nl (if you have a 1900px screen and a dom inspector) if you uncomment the CSS, both don't work. I want only the first letter of the element to color red, when the entire element is in :hover mode. Is it possible without additional HTML tags? Thanks. -- edit I've changed my online example for the better. CSS is now divided in separate <style> blocks. Makes for easier turning on and off try-outs. Conclusion - so far!? - is this: In Firefox 3.6/4 a:first-letter:hover does nothing (good) and a:hover:first-letter works perfectly (good!). In Chrome 10 a:first-letter:hover does nothing (good) and a:first-letter:hover breaks the previous CSS 'statement'. (In my example it breaks nothing because it's in a separate <style> block.) Which brings us to: once again Google Chrome lags behind Firefox =( --edit
