• SVN commit using cruise control

  hi all, can any one tell how to tell svn that these files are to be deleted from repository through command line. i am using cruise control to automate the svn commit process. but the execution of svn commit command restores the files which i deleted from my working copy. the way i am doing is. 1. delete some files in my working copy.( no. of files in my WC is less than no. of files in repository) 2. execute svn command using cruise control. <exec executable="svn.exe"> <buildArgs>ci -m "test msg" --no-auth-cache --non-interactive</buildArgs> <buildTimeoutSeconds>1000</buildTimeoutSeconds> </exec> result: the deleted files are restored in my WC...   i have been sent a directory tree of source code that i want to import into my subversion repository. The issue is that at some point this code was in a different subversion repository. There are a huge number of directories and subdirectories and i basically want to clean up all of the subversion .svn folders before i attempt to import to a new repository and i dont want svn to get confused. is there anyway to clean out a directory structure to remove all svn references?

• IIS7 error config and remote errors

  Certain IIS7/7.5 500.19 configuration errors only render on a browser running on the local server. This appears to happen regardless of whether I set <httpErrors errorMode="Detailed" existingResponse="PassThrough" /> in the system.webServer section of a site's web.config file (or even globally for that matter). For example, I had a developer who reported that he was just getting the generic IIS7 500 error page: This was happening even though he had the following configured in his web.config: <configuration> <system.webServer> <httpErrors errorMode="Detailed" existingResponse="PassThrough" /> </system.webServer> </configuration> If I browse to the site on the server itself I see (some sensitive info redacted): Would the reason for this be that if the web.config has errors it therefore can't be parsed. Because it can't be parsed the local <httpErrors> setting doesn't get read and thus causes IIS to revert to default settings (i.e. DetailedLocalOnly)? Update: @LazyOne - suggested setting the above config at the server level which I already tried. This resulted in just raw 500 errors:

• Using Subversion in Xcode

  It seems that all of the initial Google results for "using subversion with xcode" are actually just tutorials for installing and configuring svn and Xcode, as opposed to actually using the two (i.e. interacting with svn via Xcode's GUI). Is anyone aware of a good guide that teaches the tricks and pitfalls of working with svn via Xcode's GUI? Something that bridges the gap between the most excellent Version Control with Subversion book and the Xcode IDE (as in pure Xcode GUI without any terminal command use)? Edit: We all love our terminal commands, and we all love Eclipse but (and I mean this in the nicest possible way) neither is really the point of the question. I’d prefer to use svn via Xcode’s IDE instead of via terminal just as I prefer (well, for this case) to code in Xcode’s IDE instead of using vim and gcc. Apple engineers spent a good bit of time implementing that SCM menu in Xcode; someone has to have seen a usage guide somewhere.

  I am having trouble with a custom 404 error page. I have a domain running a .NET proj with it's own error handling. I have a web.config running for the domain which contains: <customErrors mode="RemoteOnly"> <error statusCode="500" redirect="/Error"/> <error statusCode="404" redirect="/404"/> </customErrors> On a sub dir of that domain I am ignoring all routes there by doing routes.IgnoreRoute("Assets/{*pathInfo}"); in the .NET proj and I want to put a custom 404 error page on that and any sub dir's of Assets. The sub dir contains static content like images, css, js etc etc. So in the Error Pages section of IIS I put a redirect to an absolute URL. The web.config for that dir looks like the following: <system.webServer> <httpErrors> <remove statusCode="404" subStatusCode="-1" /> <error statusCode="404" prefixLanguageFilePath="" path="http://mydomain.com/404" responseMode="Redirect" /> </httpErrors> </system.webServer> But I navigate to an unknown URL under that dir and yet I still see the default IIS 404 page. I am also seeing an alert in IIS that reads: You have configured detailed error messages to be returned for both local and remote requests. When this option is selected, custom error configuration is not used. Does this have anything to do with the customErrors mode="RemoteOnly" in the site web.config? I have tried to overwrite the customErrors in the sub dir web.config but nothing changes. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

• svnsync loses revision properties although hook installed

  Hello all! I have a pretty weird problem. We have setup an SVN-Mirror via cronjob (because it needs to go from inside to outside of a firewall, so no post-commit-hook possible) and svnsync. We installed a pre-revprop-hook just as told. Everything seems to work fine, except that it doesn't. E.g. when manually executing the script. # svnsync --non-interactive sync file://<path-to-mirror> --source-username <usr> --source-password <pwd> Committed revision 19817. Copied properties for revision 19817. No error, no complaints. But if checking for the revision properties it says: # svnlook info <path-to-mirror> 0 # svn info -r HEAD file://<path-to-mirror> 2>&1 Path: <root-of-mirror> URL: file://<path-to-mirror> Repository Root: file://<path-to-mirror> Repository UUID: <uid> Revision: 19817 Node Kind: directory Last Changed Rev: 19817 So somehow the author and timestamp information gets lost. But we need that information for our internal processes. Since no error or warning is produced I have absolutely no idea even where to start to look. Everything is local (except for the remote master), so there are no server-logs to look at. I also tried to manually recopy via svnsync copy-revprops (http://chestofbooks.com/computers/revision-control/subversion-svn/svnsync-Copy-revprops-Ref-svnsync-C-Copy-revprops.html). It says Copied properties for revision 19885. But when I query them, it's just the same. Any ideas how I could approach that problem, or even better -- how to solve it? Any ideas appreciated.

  I'm setting up LDAP authentication for our Subversion repository hosted through Apache on a RHEL 5 system. I run into two different issues when I try to authenticate against Active Directory. <Location /svn/> Dav svn SvnParentPath /srv/subversion SVNListParentPath On AuthType Basic AuthName "Subversion Repository" AuthBasicProvider ldap AuthLDAPBindDN "cn=userfoo,ou=Service Accounts,ou=User Accounts,dc=my,dc=example,dc=com" AuthLDAPBindPassword "mypass" AuthLDAPUrl "ldap://my.example.com:389/ou=User Accounts,dc=my,dc=example,dc=com?sAMAccountName?sub?(objectClass=user)" NONE Require valid-user </Location> If I use the above configuration it continually prompts me with the Basic prompt and I have to eventually select Cancel, which returns a 401 (Authorization Required). If I comment out the bind parts it returns 500 (Internal Server Error), griping that authentication failed: [Mon Nov 02 12:00:00 2009] [warn] [client x.x.x.x] [10744] auth_ldap authenticate: user myuser authentication failed; URI /svn [ldap_search_ext_s() for user failed][Operations error] When I perform the bind using ldapsearch and filter for a simple attribute it returns correctly: ldapsearch -h my.example.com -p 389 -D "cn=userfoo,ou=Service Accounts,ou=User Accounts,dc=my,dc=example,dc=com" -b "ou=User Accounts,dc=my,dc=example,dc=com" -w - "&(objectClass=user)(cn=myuser)" sAMAccountName Unfortunately I have no control or insight into the AD part of the system, only the RHEL server. Does anyone know what the hang up is here?

SVN supports very large files (it transmits them 'streamily' to keep memory usage sane), but it is SLOOWWWWW. What asset management software do you recommend, for about a GB (and growing) worth of assets? We would prefer branching and merging (different assets & config files go to different customers).

• Prevent command "del /s" from entering a folder

  I need to recursively remove unnecessary files from a svn repository and i have the following batch file to do this: @echo on del /s ~*.* del /s *.~* del /s Thumbs.db However, this is also deleting the entries under the .svn/ subfolders. Is there any way to prevent this commands from being executed under the .svn/ folders so that it doesn't mess things up? Thanks in advance! EDIT: A solution using Bash (cygwin) would also work for me since i just need to do this once.

  Exact duplicate: SVN: Could not read status line: connection was closed by server This is not an exact duplicate. The other question was asking about getting the error in a specific situation, and the answer was vauge at best. This is a fairly basic question, but it is driving me nuts. I have set up a brand new repository at beanstalk.com. They give me the url, http://.svn.beanstalkapp.com/blog. They also automatically create the tag, trunk and branches folder in the repository. I have checked out the trunk folder and used svn add to add the new file. I am trying to do my first commit, but I get this error: Commit failed (details follow): CHECKOUT of '/foo/!svn/bln/1': Could not read status line: connection was closed by server. (http://user_name@my_name.svn.beanstalkapp.com) What does this mean, and what causes it? I have googled for a definition of what "Could not read status line" means, but was unable to find anything explaining it. edit: I was getting this error while trying to manipulate my repository from behind a firewall. I still don't know what was causing it, but I don't have this problem at home. Strangeness.

Apache2.2.16 Subversion 1.6.12 The Eclipse help/about/installed software says: Eclipse Platform 3.5.2 Subclipse 1.0.0 Version Control with Subversion 1.1.1 The Subclips wiki I followed is here I have installed the libsvn-java app as discussed. I added the line "-Djava.library.path=/usr/lib/jni" to the eclipse.ini file I checked the Eclipse help/about/confirguration settings and both of these lines are listed: eclipse.vmargs=-Djava.library.path=/usr/lib/jni java.library.path=/usr/lib/jni I checked that those files are in those directories. Still, when I check the preferencesteamsvn an error dialog shows: Failed to load JavaHL Library. These are the errors that were encountered: no libsvnjavahl.1 in java.library.path Incompatible JavaHL library loaded 1.3.x or later required I followed the "Testing JavaHL libraries" troubleshooting section at the bottom of the wiki: I downloaded the tarbal and ran it in a folder on my desktop with no problems. Then, I followed the instructions and placed that file INSIDE the path (usr/lib/jni/testJavaHL) and ran it from there. There are 50 tests performed and each one of them came back with this same error (posting only one for brevity): 50) testCommitRevprops(org.tigris.subversion.javahl.BasicTests)java.io.FileNotFoundException: /usr/lib/jni/testJavaHL/local_tmp/greek_files/iota (No such file or directory) at java.io.FileOutputStream.open(Native Method) at java.io.FileOutputStream.<init>(FileOutputStream.java:209) at java.io.FileOutputStream.<init>(FileOutputStream.java:160) at org.tigris.subversion.javahl.WC.materialize(WC.java:70) at org.tigris.subversion.javahl.SVNTests.buildGreekFiles(SVNTests.java:303) at org.tigris.subversion.javahl.SVNTests.setUp(SVNTests.java:222) at org.tigris.subversion.javahl.RunTests.main(RunTests.java:111) FAILURES!!!   Howdy, I'm about to do a git svn dcommit to our svn repo -- and as is recommended in a number of places, I wanted to figure out exactly what I was going to be committing with a dry run. As such I ran: git svn dcommit -n This produced output: Committing to http://somerepo/svn/branches/somebranch diff-tree 1b937dacb302908602caedf1798171fb1b7afc81~1 1b937dacb302908602caedf1798171fb1b7afc81 How do I view this in a format that I can consume as a human? A list of modified files comes to mind. This is probably easy, but running git diff-tree on those hashes gives me a reference to a directory and a some other hashes, as well as some numbers. One of them is stored in CVS, one in SVN. I use SVN for my own work. The CVS project is fine. I check the tree in to my svn repository, including the CVS directories. I can commit all my changes, and still do a cvs update to stay up to date with bug fixes/features of the public project. How should I work on the svn project? • MSBuild: automate collecting of db migration scripts?

  Summary of environment. Asp.net web application (source stored in svn) sqlserver database. (Database schema (tables/sprocs) stored in svn) db version is synced with web application assembly version. (stored in table 'CurrentVersion') CI hudson server that checks out web app from repo and runs custom msbuild file to publish/package app. My msbuild script updates the assembly version of the web app (Major.Minor.Revision.Build) on each build. The 'Revision' is set to the currently checked out svn revision and the 'Build' to the hudson build number (incremented on each automated build). This way i can match the app to a specific trunk revision also get other build stats from the hudson build number. I'd like to automate the collecting of migration scripts (updated sprocs etc) to add to the zip package. I guess by comparing the svn revision of the db that has yet to be deployed to, to the revision being deployed, i can find what db files have changed in the trunk since the last deployment to that database/environment. This could easily be achieved by manually calling the svn diff -r REVNO:REVNO command to list changed .sql files. These files could then manually have to be added to the package. It would be great if this could be automated. Firstly i'd imagine I'll have to write a custom task to check the version of the db that has yet to be deployed to. After that I'm quite unsure. Does anyone have any suggestion on how this would be achieved through an msbuild task either existing or custom? Finally I'll have to autogen a script to add to the package that updates the database version table so as to be in sync with the application.

• convert old repository to mercurial

  I've been playing around with different versioning systems to find one I'm comfortable with. I started with SVN (lets call this version of the project "f1"), then changed over to GIT. But I didn't know how to convert the old SVN repo to GIT, so I just copied the folder, deleted the .svn stuff, and turned it into a GIT repo (lets call this copied version "f2"). Now I'm playing around with Mercurial and was very pleased to find that it has a Tortoise client for Windows. I was also please to find how easy it was to convert the GIT repo into Mercurial, so I preserved the history (I still cloned it first, just in case. So I'm calling this hg version "f3"). But now what I'm wondering is: what do I do with the old SVN repo that still holds my history from before I played with GIT? I guess I can convert the old SVN repo to Mercurial, but can I then merge those two histories into the one repository so I have a complete set of histories in one place? In other words, can I prepend f1 to f3?

• I need an IDE for typo3 core development in php

  Php in itself is difficult for IDEs because of the dynamic nature of the language. My current development environment is mostly netbeans against a local svn copy of the codebase setup in a local development webserver. The code is full text indexed by vistas search engine for almost instant searches. I do a lot of development directly against the main development server using a combination of tools. Putty to interact with the server and deploy by updating an svn checkout on the development server. Tortoise SVN locally to have a fairly rich SVN experience. Netbeans obviously have SVN integration. Most of the changes on the remote server is commited using the putty session. WinSCP to interact with the development server with norton commander like interface as well as the good putty integration. Finally my text editor for remote editing is notepad++ out of habit and because of some nice features and good price. What I'm really missing is good php editing. Because of the way typo3 works almost all objects are instanciated through make instance abstraction that either returns the base class or the customized class if the framework has been extended. I'm not looking for a magic editing package and would like to find an editor which can use annotations to specify the type of commonly used variables.

• Can I automatically overwrite repository files using svn_load_dirs.pl or similiar?

  I am working with a legacy VSS repository which was transferred over to a new SVN repository a few months ago. In the meantime, before we go live with the SVN repository, we need to bring over all the changes that have happened on the VSS one between then and now. I was looking at different ways to do this which seem to be things such as: 1.) svn_load_dirs.pl then merge the files manually? 2.) svn import straight into the trunk and merge files manually 3.) checkout a working copy of my SVN repository, copy in the changed files which will overwrite some of the ones in my working copy then commit the changes. My question is, can any of these options be used (or any other options) to automate things so that I don't have to merge the files, and can instead just overwrite them? I think only Option 3 would do this but any help is appreciated.

• Updating web.config revert previous updates

  Hi, I've a SPJob Scheduled with a package (wsp) installation which update web.config and a Application Page which also build to update web.config. The problem is when I install the package it successfully update the web.config. I've confirmed the changes. Now, when we go to our Application Page which also successfully update the web.config but I lost the changes made during package installation. Any idea what would I be doing wrong? Thanks.
